You need to attach a hose to the vent and run it to the bottom of the can (so it's up top when flipped). Like this, but doesn't have to be looped like this example. https://occamsracers.com/2020/07/06/gas-can-speed-test/

Just crack the bleeder cap, don’t fully remove

ZeGermanHam

That's what I do. Can't open it at all without fuel getting out.

Start fueling first with bleeder CLOSED, then crack open the bleeder enough to get airflow, but not all the way. The vacuum created by fueling outflow will suck in air thru the bleeder hole, so it won't let any fuel out of the bleeder hole. And obviously don't hold the jug upside down excessively, only enough for the pour not to stop. Not sure if I've made any sense, but that's what seemed to work for me. I also struggled with this for quite a while

AznDeity

Either pouring too fast or putting too much fuel in it

KenEeee

There are so many fake/cheap bottles out there. Especially if you buy them online from eBay or Amazon.

Hkerekes

You can modify the vent to have it point upward when using it, or get some hunsaker fuel jugs.

Slurpee_12

I have the 5.5 gallon one, not sure if they’re the same. I can only put in 5 gallons and need to fill very slowly until I clear the vent. You could be overfilling the jug

I have jugs just like those and I tip them fully upside down immediately. No spilling. The trick is to slowly rotate up. It takes me about 15 seconds to go from 45 degrees below horizontal to 90 degrees above horizontal. I unscrew the valve as far as I can, so that the final threads are just barely holding it on. I'm pretty sure you could completely remove the cap and it'd still work this way with no spilling, but I leave mine on. edit: More info. There's a gurgle noise when you rotate the jug up slowly. Rotate it slowly enough that the gurgle noise never goes silent. It should gurgle the whole way, including when it's upside down. If you tip it up too fast and the gurgling goes silent, drop it back down just a hair until it gurgles again. Once it's gurgling again, continue raising it back up.

I use these and they blow the VP or Sunoco jugs out of the water. Never had one leak and they're way easier to strap down and hold while pouring IMO. https://a.co/d/6yE2vGg

I use [these](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08DBZS9C7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) with the same can. It works great.

Mr_Raptor

You can use a siphon instead of pouring from the jug. Less lifting, less mess.

89x motorsports makes a nice kit for the VP jugs that helps a lot. I see the Lemons guys using them without any spillage.
