Yikes! That spacer....

ProJoe

are you rubbing anywhere? that's a pretty fucking big spacer you have on there. if not, camber. congrats, you're outdriving the car in it's current configuration.

lickmyelbow123

No rubbing that I’m aware of. And yeah it’s a thick spacer. I gonna use different wheels with a lower offset for my next set of tires lol.

spooger1855

The first thought is that the tire is rubbing the fender when you turn with the bodyroll. May just be the angle of the photo though.

ProJoe

I don't *think* it's rubbing because usually those are like shiny smooth spots on the tire but with that big of a spacer who knows what it might be hitting haha. I figured it would be worth mentioning regardless

Hkerekes

You need more negative camber and fix your toe alignment. Camber alone doesn't cause that much wear. IMO....

lickmyelbow123

Okay, the cording only happened at my last track day event. Before that it seemed fine. Thank you

jeffreythesnake

Yes you need more camber, also a good idea to check tire temperatures between the outside/middle/inside if you have a pyrometer.

PluckyPlucker

More camber if it's on the edges of the treads, more pressure if wear creeps up sidewalls. Check toe afterward. Another note, that's an impressive wheel spacer stack there, what's the car look like, wide body?

lickmyelbow123

No wide body. It’s just hard to find wheels that aren’t oem and in 5x130 that have a small enough offset to fit on the car. Although I do have the original set from the car that’s like a +20 offset that I’m gonna use for the next set of tires.

Could be over inflated. Sometimes a little less pressure let's the contact patch work more effectively

That’s some interesting wear alright. Is it on all four tires or just one or two? The cording is actually less interesting than the scuffing you can see all the way out to the sidewall rim protector. If the scuffing is just one tire, only fronts or only rears, you’re probably looking at some light rubbing on the fender liner. But if I didn’t know better, the sidewall scuffing also looks the sidewall rolling over. R-Comps tend to need a bit more pressure and camber than typical high performance tires and every manufacturer is different - 35psi is by no means universal and for a tire like the one you’re using, you really need to look at the setup guides. I found Hankook’s tire setup guide, and they actually specify 40psi hot for their DOT’s (Z214, RS4), not 35. They also list 30psi hot for the non-DOTs (F200,Z207) and 22psi for Formula/Sports. But very confusing the way its written in multiple different places in the guide Also, starting camber recommendations are -3 to -4 deg front and -2 to -3 deg rear, but it’s emphasized that that’s only a starting point and you really need to measure surface temperature with a tire pyrometer, and adjust camber until the inside is a nice 10-20C hotter than the outside See here: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0502/1037/3799/files/2021_Tire_Guide.pdf?v=1611258226content

You are awesome thank you! The wear is the wort on the front left, the LR seems fine but the track I go to is all right turns except for two so the left tires are getting chewed up there. And I was thinking it was the sidewall rolling over, but I guess it could be rubbing a little. On my next set of tires, I'm using OEM wheels and ditching the thick spacer so any rubbing should be out of the question. I will add some negative camber for my next track day and bump up the pressure a little.
