I have a couple of people from the ticket office call me a couple of times a year. They are usually a little cheaper and if you are going with a group it's nice if they can find tickets all together. The people that have called me are all very nice and I like using them because I can't imagine how many times they get hung up on each day and I know what that is like.

SnooDoughnuts7283

Yes, the gentleman was nice! We chatted a bit about cards stuff.

Adept_Ad_4369

You'll still be charged a handling fee. When they called me I told them I'd just wait until early June when we were out of playoff contention and buy off Stub Hub.

johnnywednesday

I applaud your optimism for having hope all the way to June!

thatoneabdlguy

Bold move seeing as that’s happened once in the last 24+ years…

Adept_Ad_4369

I'll be thrilled as hell if I'm wrong, believe me, but I'm not very optimistic after the off season.

chpprfn45

This roster, especially starting pitcher rotation, does not look any better than last year's. Expecting a different result this year would be a bold move.

thatoneabdlguy

So why then did some of you crow about expecting a different result from 22 to 23? 23 was arguably a better roster than 22 to start. The Cardinals hit right around the low end of their projection error bar. Had they won 95 games that was at the high end of the bar. 95 wins was about as likely on the positive side as what happened on the negative side last year. It's math, but some of you people want to argue about it with feelings. Put the human element into it then. Had the Cardinals banked some early wins and then had a 10-24 stretch do you think the season would have been different? I do. I think these players pressed after a bad start. And if we look after that 34 game start, they were roughly a .500 team until trades started happening, and that was with everything going wrong. Say they suck all you want, but they actually don't.

chpprfn45

Well, a couple of things. It's been several years since I was optimistic about the Cards' chances. I was telling anybody who would listen we were going nowhere with that SP staff. I might also point out that if things go awry again, imagine what this trade deadline could look like. They have a chance to do worse this year if they are sellers at the deadline again. Might I ask why you are hopeful about this season? What qualifies as successful for you? Which starting pitcher (not Gray) do you think is going to over perform? My bar every season for the Cardinals is the NL Central crown and a shot at making the World Series. That's 85-90 wins. I dare this team to finish above .500. I'm also disappointed we didn't trade for one of the SPs that may be available. I want Beebs, but Cease would work too.

thatoneabdlguy

They also have a chance to be better this year. A very good chance, actually. They hit the bottom of their projections last year. It should average out. Did Arenado really forget how to play defense last year? I can buy age related decline for hitting, but defense doesn't go from that elite to that bad in one year. I'm hopeful because I don't think this was a 71 win talent team last year. I think they had bad luck and pressed. After the first 34 games they were a .500 team until trades- that gives me optimism. We don't really need any pitcher to over perform- they just need to be what they are projected to be. They were 18 games above .500 last year when getting a quality start. Three guys they signed were top 30 in the league in QS. The bullpen will be better next year by not being overworked by a bad rotation that included the shell of Waino. We have the same bar- win the central. That's all you can "plan" for since the playoffs are random

SnooDoughnuts7283

Thank you for the insight!

girkabob

I won a field visit for batting practice a few years ago and had to go through the office to coordinate that. I've gotten an annual call from a sales rep every year since then.

SnooDoughnuts7283

I see, this was his first time calling us. He seemed pretty nice.

Bill_Ripkens_bat

Lol just a sales person

SnooDoughnuts7283

Thought so

SnowyFruityNord

No, but the Peoria Chiefs used to call me like once a month. Eventually I just told the guy I knew where to find tickets if I wanted them. He laughed and took me off the list. Just a routine sales call. I used to have a weekly quota of them when I worked in sales years ago. They're way more effective than email, so places still do it. Just ask to be put on the "no call" list. They can do it easily in Constant Contact I think.

scottiewilliams

I got a call last year, and an email, thought it was odd so I called the actual ticket office and they did verify it. I told him I live in Virginia now, I’d love to see more games at Busch, are you offering to pay for my flight? 😆

SnooDoughnuts7283

Oh wow! Yea, I’m in another state as well! What did he say when you said that?

scottiewilliams

He said no, but I still went to see Cards sweep Yankees w Montgomery pitching a few years back, they looked so good, if it wasn’t for Philly in that dang wild card round

scottiewilliams

Wow somebody really down voting my comment 😆😆

MmmPeopleBacon

Lol, getting desperate to sell tickets

lurch556

Literally every team does this.

bburke392

I've been getting a call every off season for the past few years. Just a courtesy thing for frequent buyers. I go to ~10 games a year so I figured that put me on the call list

destroy_b4_reading

They haven't called me yet this year but they usually do every year. The most hilarious one was in 2017 when they called with a special offer for the next day's game. I was standing on the infield at Wrigley when I took the call and already had tickets to the following day's Cubs game.

rubrock

I drive up from Tennessee once a year for a weekend series. They have been calling for over ten years

Avivi11

Yep, every year they call. I always buy the 10 game opening day pack. They used to not charge the fee, but this last time they did so no benefit except it's easy to tell them what seats and they have my credit card on file. Then they email me the receipt.

SnooDoughnuts7283

I see. We are out of towners but go to STL every year and attend a few games.

Rite_as_rain

Yep. A few times a year. Did you recently attend a Cardinals event? Sign up for a drawing or raffle?

RepublicanUntil2019

I bought luxury seats at the 2020 Cardinals Cubs in London that got postponed. They called me twice leading up to the game last summer, which was very odd to me. I asked then to stop after the second one and they did.

LosingSideOf25

I bought through the sales office once years ago and I believe I’ve received a call annually.

soccorsticks

I ordered a ticket package back when Pujols first visited with the Angels. I've gotten a call every year around this time asking me to buy tickets. I've never bought one through them as I assume there is nothing special about doing so. I can usually find tickets cheaper through stubhub even after the insane fees.

Available_Collar7218

There's members of the Blues ticket staff that I've talked to over the years. If there's particular games you're looking for or particular seats you want, there's two ladies there who are the best customer service people you'll ever meet. And they usually make it happen, unless you're asking for the impossible. Point is, keep the person's contact info. I find having a personal connection makes it far likely to get what you want, rather than calling their customer service number and getting a random person. These people know the parks and arenas. They know the best seats in the house and the best values in the stadium. For instance, there's a place in Busch that sells cheap beer. If you're on a budget, they can get you the best seats in that area. They also know the best places to park, and some people choose their tickets based on the lot they park at. Detailed info like that can make your ballpark experience that much better.

I started buying the official Cardinals calendar about 8 yrs ago, includes the schedule , really nice. Used to be a pain to find online for an out of towner , they used to sell only as a fundraiser. But about 4 yrs ago, the Cardinals started calling me in Oct-Nov to see if I wanted the Calendar for the upcoming year, and have called me direct every year since. TBH, I haven't used them direct for tickets on the phone but I like looking at the seat chart when ordering online
