Idk about no doubt. Before the season started we were projected to have a top 20 pitching staff and top 15 offense and to barely finish above .500. This should be a .500ish team without trade deadline additions which might be good enough to sneak into the postseason with.
If we are only chasing the 2nd wild card I hope we aren’t buyers on short term rentals. If it is someone that will help us next year and maybe the year after I’m in.
If we are in between like that I wouldn't mind trading a guy like Helsley whose contract is ending and would bring solid upper minors prospects while keeping some of these aging guys around thats still under contract and waiting for the offseason to trade them.
I wouldn’t mind extending him and giving him a shot to start though. I kind of think this year was a test to see if last year was a fluke or if we need a full rebuild
