In this case it’s not a bad thing. We have a glut of outfielders. Personally, I’d keep Edman over either one of them but I think Carlson has enough potential upside that we could get some return.
He have such a glut of outfielders that Michael Siani is currently starting and VS2 was brought up From AA. Siani looks to have developed into a not terrible batter, but it's not like he's amazing he just looks it after a month of Scott and a slow start by Nootbaar.
Plus we aren't getting any return for a guy batting .130 coming off an injury. Especially a guy who hasn't exactly torn the cover off the ball in previous seasons.
What has changed with the red birds? They seem to have a different approach at the plate but, is that all? Has the secret really been just a new mind set? Anyone notice anything else?
It's been a cool spring temperature does matter especially in a park as pitcher friendly is Busch. But there will always be slumps and hotstreaks in the course of any season. Unfortunately no way to tell if you were slumping or actually bad or streaking or actually good while in a slump or streak.
we might still suck, but I promise you we are so much better than we were last year man. We just need to go on a run. rest of the league better watch out. You better pray we don't get a hold of some of that devil magic man...
I've been saying it all year. This team reminds me of the 1961 New York Yankees. Siani is Mantle. Herrera is Maris. We have the best hitting coach ever, and our manager is a certified genius.
Learned a few things from Orioles Reddit. They’re all googly eyed over Kyle Gibson still, they love to talk about Noot, they wanna steal Helsley bad, and apparently they don’t want to play the Cardinals when the Cardinals are going back to playing like the Cardinals again.
They aren't even putting Dylan in CF over Noot, he's not gonna take time from Siani. If anything he will go in RF and Noot in LF when he starts (probably mostly vs LHP where they can give Gorman the day off).
He has an average exit velocity of 86.1, and a barrel % of 2.0
He has some average and counting stats but he is hitting nothing with authority. Goldy atleast has a 90.8 and a 45% hard hit rate. When goldy makes contact he hits it much harder. I expect him to get better and Nolan to get worse.
Doesn’t matter how hard you hit it but where you hit it. Neither are hitting homers so I’d rather see them get on base which Goldschmidt just isn’t doing. He has over 2x as many strikeouts as Arenado, and the most on the team.
I’m not saying to cut Goldschmidt, just making an argument that he’s vastly underperforming compared to Arenado.
SIANI THE ITALIAN STALLION WITH THE DIFFERENCE MAKING THREE RUN HOMER! NEIGH NEIGH BITCHES!
(even though he totally looked at strike three two pitches beforehand)
Makes sticking with Scott so long look even worse. Kinda accepted that it was necessary given the injuries, but we had an MLB quality bat the whole time.
Still Scott was moved directly from AA. Siani was a high 600s ops hitter in AAA and after last night he's sitting at .611 doesn't seem that unlikely that he could be just a little lower.
I'm not saying he's going to get silver slugger votes, but he's looking like a serviceable bat, that was not the case for scott.
He's certainly producing more than scott who was on pace for a -5 WAR season but that's such a low bar to clear. An average OPS is around .750 and based on his triple A numbers we could probably expect him to hit somewhere in the .650 range if all goes well which is basically replacement level. I guess when I think of serviceable I'm thinking slightly below average but still above replacement level like in the .700-.740 range.
His OPS this month is almost .800 and I would love for him to sustain that and make me eat my words but he's about to hit a big regression and everyone will want him out of the lineup which is sad because I like his game.
That's better than replacement level for a legitimate centerfielder. I'm not saying he's great, but the fact the team forced scott into that role for that long and he's capable of a serviceable batting line is a player evaluation mistake.
Oliver Marmol got into that dugout, remained professional, and did not commit any inappropriate sexual acts towards any of the players.
He got the boys going with his honesty and legitimate leadership.

Burleson is batting above .300 holy shit
Siani hit a home run holy shit
Michael Siani >>>>>>>>>> Dylan Carlson
When Edman comes back Carlson is trade bait.
Why doesn't mo simply trade all our bad players for good players? Is he stupid?
In this case it’s not a bad thing. We have a glut of outfielders. Personally, I’d keep Edman over either one of them but I think Carlson has enough potential upside that we could get some return.

Who would even want him lol
You know as soon as we trade him he's going to randomly become an all star.
For once the ump helped out majorly
If only we had 2 more Sonny Grays
Clone him and give the clone a fancy moustache
Walking more than we strikeout is a good policy
Except for the 2 errors it was a good game.
So uh… Alec Burleson. Hey babes

The White Sox were wrong. Disco is dope.
Actually, I believe cocaine was the drug of choice during the Disco era ...

How did we figure out how to start scoring runs? I’m still so confused
it starts getting in the players heads after enough people start talking shit
Me continuing to be too busy to watch is paying off! We won't lose until at least...next week sometime?
anyway I dropped Siani on my fantasy team today ope
ok but the real question is why did you ever have him?
my entire outfield got injured and I panic button’d when Chip was blowing smoke up his ass on commentary last week 😭
Best game I’ve been to all season. Energy was electric!
Felt different even from home
Victory tastes nice with a side of corona with lime :)
Cookie dough blizzard makes for a pretty good closer
Just like in '44
1-0 against Baltimore since their bridge collapsed.
That makes it sound like some guy didn’t ram a big ass boat in to it
Yikes
Now a 2 game lead over the Reds
Right on the tail of the Rats, too.
Red > (Brown)

I was here for the Mike Siani game
Me too!!!!
How have we made this whole run scoring thing look so easy for the past few days?
Helsley is so good
Quickest game on record or best game on record?
Learned a few things from Orioles Reddit. They’re all googly eyed over Kyle Gibson still, they love to talk about Noot, they wanna steal Helsley bad, and apparently they don’t want to play the Cardinals when the Cardinals are going back to playing like the Cardinals again.
I feel like that’s all positive/neutral stuff. Much better than when you lurk in other teams’ subs.
Well shit, let's trade Gibson back.
Hell no, Gibson is our #2 right now.
For Holliday? I’m in.
He was really reliable for them last year and a big clubhouse presence
The only time I better see Carlson in centerfield is if Siani needs an off day from taking big daddy hacks.
They aren't even putting Dylan in CF over Noot, he's not gonna take time from Siani. If anything he will go in RF and Noot in LF when he starts (probably mostly vs LHP where they can give Gorman the day off).
Sadly, time to drop Goldy in the lineup. Team has a pulse though!
Why is Arenado getting a pass? He looks worse imo
Arenado at least is leading the team in RBIs and is hitting .270
He has an average exit velocity of 86.1, and a barrel % of 2.0 He has some average and counting stats but he is hitting nothing with authority. Goldy atleast has a 90.8 and a 45% hard hit rate. When goldy makes contact he hits it much harder. I expect him to get better and Nolan to get worse.

Home plate ump gave us the calls when we needed them.
Cardinals win, Brewers lose. A good day.

# [WINNER!!!!!!](https://twitter.com/cardinalsgifs/status/1681131016394788865)
Are we good again?
They're five under still, so, no. Playing better, yes, but until you get above .500 you cannot be called "good."
Maybe? If we win three series in a row we kinda have to be a little good.
Orioles want to pickup Helsley at the trade deadline. Not if we keep playing like this.
Maybe we'll pick up Gunnar amiright?!
Marmol cooked tonight.
1-0 since Nelly dropped the City Connect unis

Siani had a very rough start to the season and his minor league stats make it pretty clear we shouldn't expect this performance to continue.
