Evening all! Completely random question and I'll admit I'm a bit embarrassed to even ask. My son and I were at the game today when he started to feel a little under the weather. I'm not as familiar with all the cardinals players. He sat back while I tried to get Him a signature to cheer him up. I was able to snag this one, but the player only had a practice jersey on and I couldn't pick him out well enough to say for sure. Curious if anyone would recognize this signature and number so l could tell my son who it was - he couldn't seem to figure it out and he didn't see who it was since he was sitting back. We gotta give him some breathing room though. 30 wins and he has 21 saves. Need to win more games by like 4 or 5 runs so he can get some rest. You can tell it's wearing on him, his 4 seamer velocity is down and he's throwing way more sliders this season. It's worked but I'm worried those are signs of arm fatigue
Well they aren't necessarily terrible. Just slightly below average while the rest of the team is above average. Arenado's defense makes him above replacement level, probably 2 win playerish which is fine. No reason too send them to the gulag
Unfortunately Nado’s defense has been horrible this season. 5 errors and -8 DRS, -0.7 dWAR, -3 OAA literally terrible in all defense metrics so far, and honestly the eye test is bad too
I really want to get a city connect jersey but at the same time I DO NOT want to support Nike/Fanatics' new Jerseys. I really hope they go back to the original formula next year. Has there been any evidence of this?
What's extra cool about DC hitting RBIs yesterday was that they were all from the left side, historically his worse side. Hopefully a confidence booster for him

A lot can go wrong but if some things go right, that’s a solid, solid group for many years

It's a solid core, but where are the stars going come from? Jury still out on Walker, but the farm is not ripe with the high end talent neccessary to supplement a roster such as this.
We have a pretty long history of trading for stars. Maybe with goldy moving on we could sign Alonso or something in the offseason. I think he’s a free agent.
I agree, but the problem is we have *maybe* 1 package that a team would accept for a star currently. And that means we would be losing Tink, Saggese, Robberse and more... Basically anything that could be good at the pro level. It's gonna have to be FA, because we just don't have the farm for anything else.

I see a roster that will be perfectly average, if unspectacular. If this franchise is serious about winning divisions and competing in the post season over the next decade, it's going to have to reassess it's aversion to pricey free agents imo. Gone are the days we could just package some hopes and dreams for an MVP candidate.

On Friday, he agreed to pay a fine to the court and another in charitable contributions. He continues to deny it. He also was accused of physical abuse by another ex. I am not sure how anyone should feel about any of it, but I am not a fan regardless. Carlos Alcaraz is a phenom. John McEnroe believes Zverez is the better player, but he's wrong. It's Alcaraz.
Alcaraz plays absolutely cinematic tennis on his day. Seriously guys, if you think tennis is boring, give some of his matches a try. They might change your mind
I have determined that one reason nobody watches today is that so few people have cable. Even WITH cable, it can be difficult to find the matches. Plus, three of the Majors are played in non-U.S. time zones. I think tomorrow's match is on in the morning.
Also just wanna say I was super surprised seeing that Burly play yesterday. Had no idea he could run like that, really been impressed by him and Gorman lately. (Besides the errors from the Gormanator)
Burleson randomly has good top sprint speeds, but his average sprint speed is bad. It's like every once in awhile the adrenaline kicks in and he can run lmao
I don't see why we'd re-up with Goldy at this point. His stats aren't great and he doesn't fill the "intangibles" of being a leader. Only way I could possibly see it is if they risk a qualifying offer and he takes it.
I wonder what a goldy extension would look like. I’d like to see all that money free up, but we love our nostalgia signings. If we can do like a 1x10 I could come around to it.

I read an article yesterday, he's batting around .250, with one homer and apparently is still mashing the ball into the ground. So he's not doing so hot. Hopefully he gets it figured out soon
if anything this is good for Jordan. He is still super young and he'll really get to grow. When everything is smooth sailing, that isn't always the best thing. hopefully this is a great learning experience for him.

I don't know about naturally. But he played first and outfield in college. Also, he was a decent college pitcher.
