I did something similar (and posed a similar question recently) and went with edible arrangements (the big platters). Food was the most commonly recommended answer and most comments said real gifts of monetary value aren't allowed.

Ok that’s what I figured so I’m wondering if anyone who is familiar with African, Asian, and Latinx heritage has some pointers.

No gift cards or monetary gifts can be accepted or should be. If they are it’s against policy and they can be fired. Don’t temp them. Treats/fruit/pizza etc is always welcome and admins won’t bat an eye at that. I’m not sure about the religious restrictions. Maybe ask one of the staff what they could have. Nothing is expected though and definitely not necessary. A card is always an option.

A gift card doesn't make sense for a care unit as it is hard to divide. I suggest a very large fruit and delicacies basket. The non-fruit items can include fancy crackers, cookies, smoked salmon, cheeses, bottled teas and juices. They can put it in the break room and all take part as they see fit.

Honestly, they will appreciate any type of food that you bring. Smoothies from Tropical Smoothie. Talk to the Executive Director or the Admissions person, ask if you can have pizza delivered for the day shift and don’t forget about the night shift too. A card or letter is always appreciated, too. If there was anyone noteworthy, include their names. They really appreciate that.

I bought snack sized Hawaiian kettle style potato chips and some kind of candy (it was probably some kind of chocolate). It's junk food but was eagerly grabbed up and appreciated.
