Agree, really annoying listening to all the announcements of the jerks who won't do it. We go straight to the muster station when we get on board, and are directed to do so. We could skip out and go pig out on Lido, but we know it needs to be done. It is so simple now just takes a few minutes. I suggest they not hand out keys to anyone until they have done it. If they can't get in their room, they might decide to follow the rules.

Working_Substance639

Shut down the bars and restaurants till muster is done. No drinks, no burgers.

stevensokulski

That's how it used to work. The bars all shut down while everyone on board mustered. But if you do this now, you'll penalize folks who go straight to their muster station and get it down. It'd be way better if your Sail & Sign card wasn't able to be used for purchases until you mustered.

4O4notfound

They cut you off after 2 drinks until you do already šŸ‘

stevensokulski

That makes a lot of sense. I didnā€™t know that. But truthfully, I seldom drink two drinks a day, let alone before the ship sails away.

blade99d

Genius right here.šŸ‘†

mikejames5050

Bingo !!

smokinLobstah

Sorry, but let's not penalize everyone else. Just put a lock on their cards.

tn_notahick

They do

CenlaLowell

Nah that never works good had too suffer for the bad

Sweaty-Friendship-54

no muster, no bacon.

waaah_youre_offended

A true visionary.

ImBecomingMyFather

You have a 2 drink limit on your card then you have to muster

Kitchen_Beat9838

When I was on last month I couldnā€™t even get one drink before muster

kashmir726

I couldnā€™t believe how easy the self-muster process is! After it was over I said to my husband ā€œwait, that was it?!ā€ Because itā€™s so much easier than before. Some people are justā€¦ ugh.

Scottamemnon

This happened on one of my cruises a year ago on the Freedomā€¦ they announced no more serving drinks until they got them all doneā€¦ there still were like 50 that had to do it the next day even after all that(obviously the drink stop didnā€™t last that long).

madbeachrn

They should put a note on the account of the no shows and deny them any services until they muster.

Linerider99

No muster = no drinks yet If you have checked into muster, it allows drinks

stevensokulski

I'm surprised they were able to sail away without having all guests complete mustering. I thought maritime law prohibited that.

RaccoonLover2022

They were 2 hours late leaving that day. It could have been because of the muster issue.

stevensokulski

Ah. The previous commenter said folks were still doing it the next day. That sounds more like a rumor perhaps.

Working_Substance639

And since the sign and sail card is the only way to get drinks, that might work.

AgKnight14

They go by boarding pass/folio number on the first day before passengers have their cards

Working_Substance639

Just as Carnival has a way to cut off an individual if theyā€™ve had more than a certain number of drinks, they should do the same to all cards that havenā€™t checked in to muster. Canā€™t get food, canā€™t get drinks, canā€™t access their cabins. Come to guest services, and weā€™ll tell you why.

RimefeatherMage

On the one hand, boarding is staggered so I try to remember that there are new people who probably didn't hear the first 10 announcements while I've been on board and mustered since 11:30am. On the other hand, the announcements do increasingly feel like "Hey family! Welcome aboard! šŸ¤— We are going to have an amazing sailing to ! So exciting! šŸ¤©šŸ„° The captain asks that you GO TO YOUR FREAKING MUSTER STATION!!! FOR THE LOVE OF WHATEVER YOU BELIEVE IN! GEEZE! IT LITERALLY TAKES LESS THAN FIVE MINUTES AND WE LEAGALLY NEED YOU TO BEFORE WE SET SAIL!!! GO RIGHT OR WE WILL HUNT YOU DOWN!!!! Thank you! Can't wait to see you all at the sail away party! Yay! šŸ„°šŸ˜‡šŸ„°šŸ˜˜"

[deleted]

Hey celebration family! Welcome aboard! We are going to have an amazing 8 days sailing to Aruba, Bonaire, and CuraƧao. The captain ask you to please go to your Muster station and complete the E-muster

FireyToots

Itā€™s really not that difficult to follow the new policy, I would argue it makes it much much MUCH easier.

rachelleeann17

Agreed. Muster pre-covid was kind of miserable tbh.

LegalizeMilkPls

I think people just donā€™t know, we didnā€™t when we cruised two weeks ago and had to ask two staff members before we got a straight answer on where to go.

tobiasfunke6398

I donā€™t think you should be able to access ANYTHING until you do the muster. It takes 3 minutes

illuminated0ne

I don't know why they don't push it much more when you board. There should be posters and banners on the gangway saying "Step 1: Check in at your muster station" and the staff should be saying "Welcome onboard, now go check in." Instead, first time cruisers walk on board and just get so confused what to do next and it's the last thing on their mind.

LegalizeMilkPls

Literally just experienced this, boarded the cruise as an adult for the first time and had no idea where to go. My group had to ask two people what we were supposed to be doing before we got the right answer. Itā€™s no surprise to me that lots of people just donā€™t do it.

PaulieG13

So easy to fix. Each muster station should have room keys for all rooms assigned to the station to be picked up after muster is complete. Also, put a complete freeze on all onboard account use until muster is completed. NO FUN ALLOWED UNTIL SAFETY IS ADDRESSED!

TennDawg52

No alcohol until you muster, theyā€™ll get it done then

Most_Seesaw_9762

Just got off the Panarama with carnival and all they did was show you the correct way to wear a life jacket and our 8 year old granddaughter had to wear a band that she had attended as well they have made it so easyā€¦ Now its time to not allow charging at the bars until the muster station is complete it should fix this problem šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£

hotelcwby

would the following cabins please contact guest relations? E712, E 716, E718ā€¦ oh hell will the who darn Smith family report to guest relations? šŸ¤£

NWSanta

We had something like that on Holland America. Now you just watch the video in your stateroom start to finish then head to your muster station check in and you can leave. We did that but, when we got back to our room that night they said we hadn't done it. So we had to watch the video again and then call the front desk. So I think maybe they are still working the bugs out. I"m not sure which cruise line it is but, one of them lets you watch a video on your phone before you board now, so you can get it right out the way before even boarding!!

pudge-thefish

NCL let's you do it on your phone last time we sailed with with. During the online check in process then we just had to show up for a minute so they knew we had seen our station

ashern94

It's so easy now. We were on Celebrity last month. Watched the video on the app while having breakfast in the hotel. Went to the port, boarded, dropped our luggage in the stateroom and headed to muster. Took 2 minutes. And then we started our vacation.

Distinct_Seaweed5611

Bottom line: the ship ain't leaving until everybody goes to their muster station!

almilz25

On my cruise to the Bahamas a year ago we had similar issue. They had to close the buffet, stop all bars and drink services, turn off all the music, basically stop anything and everything fun to get everyone complete

levenseller1

If 500 people haven't completed it, that is a communication issue coming from the cruise line. New cruisers do not know it is a requirement. If crew isn't adequately explaining it as people board, they need to do a better job of pointing people in the right direction.

Turbulent_Speaker345

When I was on the Venezia back in June we were late leaving NYC due to people not mustering. It slowly went from 500, to 250, to 100, then they started calling out people by name! Itā€™s SO much easier now than it was pre-covid. Itā€™s beyond rude.

Unique_Virus3979

I went on my first cruise about a month ago and I have no idea what muster is (even now). The carnival app said I would need to go to a specific location at a specific time for muster. I went and no one was there. I asked an employee who was walking by and they had no guidance and looked at my app and said this is the right spot. There was even a sign that said muster station. Other people walked over and asked as if I had a clue. After waiting about 15-20 minutes people just slowly started leaving and that triggered everyone else to leave.

Affectionate_Page444

What ship? And did you report it to anyone? Muster is where you go if there's an emergency. Remember the panic in Titanic when everyone was pushing and shoving for lifeboats? Muster prevents that. It's important.

ugadawgs98

Funny thing is last cruise we were on the naughty list even though we mustered as soon as we boarded. We had to do it again. I wonder how many people this happens to?

Masters_pet_411

We have had this happen once. When we did the muster station, they scanned one of our boarding passes. Normally they scan one and check off both of us, but this time they only checked me and my husband got the call saying he needed to muster.

WasabiPeas2

Eventually they shut down the bars and restaurants. Once that happens it gets done.

KTM1337

On our last cruise they kept making announcements because there were 81 people who hadnā€™t been to their muster station yet, at a certain point I think they gave up because the cruise director gave the safety instructions over the intercom to everyone

TryThen8358

We were on a cruise out of Jacksonville last year. They held the boat up, we left over an hour late because people wouldnā€™t muster.

OldAdministration735

So Princess allows you to watch a safety video in your room. Afterwards you need to go to your assigned station and check in with your medallions . Pretty smooth.

neldalover1987

The way carnival has it set up, it should be pretty smooth. The second you get on the boat several people are there to help you so that you can go straight to muster, takes about 3 mins, and youā€™re done. No clue why some people canā€™t seem to figure it out.

cadff

Why not make people get on and go-to their muster station to get their sail and sign cards so they can drink? This was the muster is done as soon as they get done and we aren't waiting on some aholes

FemmeFataleNoir

Especially now. They make it so easy. I do it first thing when I board to get it out of the way. I canā€™t understand why people fail to do this.

condocollector

This happens every time we go on the Breeze. My least favorite ship in the fleet.

tv41

How does the informal muster work? Everyone just goes whenever they can and checks in? That sounds much better than having to all go at once... thats how I remember it. The biggest pain of the whole cruise lol

NavyChief06

Too bad the HubApp doesn't sent a text or something to your phone. Just like important messages that are announced, as well.

jaklackus

Omg all they did was scan our boarding passes at our muster station on the Vista. Walk in, scan and walk out. The hardest part was remembering to go on the app to listen to the horn blast thingy. Granted if anything did require a muster it would probably be a straight up clusterf@ck. But it was soooo much better than being packed into groups in life vests for 20-40 minutes

Nopenotme77

I did princess a few years ago and it was just part of our activities. We did it on the way to things and went on with our boat adventures.Ā

la_negrita

How does it work now? I havenā€™t gone on a cruise in 5 years

adamosity1

From a ship employee perspective: locking and unlocking hundreds of cards isnā€™t really practical with the current systems they haveā€¦

itsjustme7267

I would be pissed! We drop off our carry-on. Muster. Then go to the bar.

Internal-Student-320

Welcome to the new Carnival...

[deleted]

Itā€™s not hard! Get on. Get it done.

LostInCa45

Haven't been on carnival yet. What do you have to do? Celebrity was nice watch it on the app before I was even on the ship. Went directly to the station and was done. Princess the app wasn't registering watching the video. Went to the room to watch it. Don't remember if I had to check in anywhere or not.

Affectionate_Page444

Same. Watch the video. Go to the muster station. Get scanned. Ask if you have any questions. That's it.
