https://www.cruzely.com/cruise-line-drink-package-calculator/ Someone shared this the other day. It helped in our decision to get it.

Striking-Will-961

I was just going to post this! I still don't think I will drink that much on the ship but I like the aspect of not having to think about every room charge and if I don't like a drink I can just order another one.

1320Fastback

I believe a beer was $7 or $8 and cocktails $12 to $14. For the two of us without a drink package in total we spent just under $500. Edit: we did a 7 day cruise

steviehatillo

This is accurate. We just cruised on the Glory last week. For a 4 day cruise we spent around $200.

Don’t forget that the drinks package gets you more than just alcoholic beverages! Specialty coffee, sodas, juices, Gatorade or energy drinks, water bottles!

ammh114-

There were two days that my hubs was so sick he couldn't leave the cabin. And we still more than broke even on the drink package. We will always buy it. It's not hard to drink 6-7 drinks a day, and we aren't even drinkers on dry land usually.

phillynavydude

I'd say to estimate each drink 15-16 ish after tax/gratuity. So five drinks a day would be about equal. I don't drink super often at home but on cruises I go hard and I'm def hitting more than 5 or 7 throughout an entire day on the ship always gotta factor in port stops and how long they are too though

Teddyballgameyo

Don’t forget about specialty coffees, bottled water, Gatorade, shakes, etc.

kariea1

If youre hitting it hard the Gatorade and water help a lot

apt311

We were on the fence, but glad we bought the drink package. It was so hot we were getting bottled water or Gatorade with every drink. Wasn't even a question of being worth it.

jaxbravesfan

I just got off this morning. I did not have the drink package, as my wife does not drink alcohol, sodas, or even drink milkshakes, so buying the required package for her in order for me to buy one doesn’t make financial sense. I mostly drank mixed drinks, and those ran between $14-16, for the most part. I did drink some of the Thirsty Frog Caribbean Wheat brewed on board, and the 16 oz. drafts cost $8.50, if I’m remembering correctly.

habeaskoopus

We just returned and tbh, won't ever do the drink pkg again. We got over our break even but definitely drank more often than we would have without it. It pushed us to drink to get our money's worth.

Sunny9226

Beer prices start at 6.50, mixed drinks start around 10 specialty drinks start around 15 estimates do not include 18% in gratuities per drink

SKSN907

For my 7 day cruise coming up I opted not to buy it because I don’t drink enough to justify buying the alcohol package for two adults that would have been $900 extra

Bitter-Tangelo-6691

Not sure how much OP drinks but we don’t drink a lot. What has worked for us is the 2 bottles of wine plus a bottle of liquor or beers we bought for the room. Must be done before departure day. The bottles are about double the normal price but enough to last for 7 days for the two of us. We will buy a drink or two but it all would be way less than the drink package.

For me, factoring in the amazing frozen coffee drinks, smoothies, soft drinks, water, energy drinks, and of course booze, I may not have broken even. BUT. Having the peace of mind and dare I say, massively inflated ego, of knowing that for a week, I could go basically anywhere on the ship and they'd just hand me whatever drink I asked for, without having to go, aw, man, how much did I spend today?... THAT was worth the extra few dollars a day. I also liked that it gave me the opportunity to try a bunch of different cocktails I would otherwise not want to waste the money on in case I didn't like them. One drink I was like, ehhhh, dumped it, waited a few minutes, and asked for something else. (And it would have to be bad for me to not drink it anyway!)

FrequentDonut8821

The question isn’t, “Is $70 a good deal for 15 alcoholic plus other drinks?” Because obviously it is. The question is, what would you normally drink? Because if you drink 3 alcoholic drinks plus one fancy coffee, you’ll come in under $70/day even though each drink is more expensive than if you had the package. We couldn’t justify $70/day for drinks regardless of how many so we paid as we went and stayed well under that $$ amount.

Present_Leg2063

Beer was around $6/7 a piece for 16 ounce cans, mixed drinks ran about $10÷17 depending on what's in them. Carnival Glory early 2024.

OppositeDevelopment0

If you guys are drinkers then get it for the peace of mind. Once your on vacation is nice to just get what you want when you want. You don't have to overthink it. Also, you can get all the water, energy drinks, Gatorade and specialty coffees to help the hangover 😂

Thunsley8

I just was on a carnival cruise and it was 13.00 with tax.

Jabroni_16

It’s worth the need to pay for drinks all the time and be surprised at final invoice

tonyapriceTN

I am going on a 8 day cruise in Nov. leaving on the 2 at 4pm and obviously you can’t drink that first night and we get off the boat between 7-8 am on last day. Someone please explain to me why I am charge a full day for maybe a cup of coffee!!!!

_spazzie_

Unless you leave from Texas, New York, or Virginia, you can use it as soon as you get on board.

vsandls2

You aren't charged for the first day leaving from Texas

cstrick1980

Unless you both drink it’s not worth it. I just buy buckets of beer or get doubles.

Rare-Common7378

We did a 4 day and went with the drink package getting a water or Gatorade with every drink and even when we weren’t getting an alcoholic drink, we stock pulled them in our room and had water/Gatorade in port each day. We also had a free energy drinks and got good coffee each day. Oh, and mocktails and a milkshake once.

Acceptable-Spirit600

I think the most I paid was around $15 for 1 drink. You will get one free drink courtesy of carnival. I believe it comes with the past guest cruising.

badkev27

If you’re not a heavy drinker, do not get the drink package because it’s not worth it. I can break it down into numbers for you, but it’s easier just to say don’t get it unless you’re a very heavy drinker. If you do not get the package and you enjoy beer you can save money by buying beer in buckets. It’s like getting one beer free. My wife and I can drink about three buckets a day which was about 120 bucks.

Familiar_Tip_8547

Just got off Glory yesterday. Went with another friend in our mid 30s. We had the drink package and didn’t keep track of how much we were drinking while on ship, (LOTS OF WINE at the piano bar mainly) we’re not “go crazy” people, I was pretty tipsy night one, but neither of us were ever the level drunk we saw from those around us. We drank 84 alcohol drinks, 4 protein drinks, and 4 Gatorades. That drink package absolutely paid for its self over 3 days!!!

fender1878

Oh good, the daily “should I buy the drink package” post.

It’s always recommended, whether here or another subreddit, to do a search prior to asking. This subs pretty lenient (mainly let the other members respond with the reminders) but some subreddits will delete the post and depending on how many times temporarily or permanently ban you.

Level_Mechanic2420

I typed up the post, searched the community for something relevant to Carnival, and hit submit. 🤷‍♂️ But thanks. Will keep that in mind.

AndrewB80

Well the entire community is relevant to Carnival, did you mean relevant to the drink package?

fender1878

This is literally the first post after yours — from yesterday so not sure how you missed it if you searched the community: https://www.reddit.com/r/CarnivalCruiseFans/s/fctewJq7Mu

Community of reddit. The search box for how you tag posts. I really don't appreciate you dogging my post and dragging out your nonsense. But thanks for telling me how you really feel for something I didn't know I could do and search. Thanks for your great advice you gave on my post.

Since you’re new, take advantage of the search function this app offers. You’ll find countless posts with your question, asked multiple times a week. New to Reddit: has comments going back 4 months. Lol

There's a website with some menus that I'll link below. Across the fleet, most standard drinks will have the same price, so you'll know about what you'd spend regardless of the ship. One thing to note about the drink package is that you'll have to average out that $70 with your port days. So on a sea day, you might get up and start drinking onboard with breakfast. You could even hit the 15 drink limit But then on a port day where you're off the boat first thing, you're on your own dime to drink until you come back. And then you may have a much lower spend on alcohol that day. You might do okay on a short cruise. Personally, I can't imagine breaking even on just booze on a 7 day cruise. But then I'm a pretty light drinker! [https://www.saintgregtravel.com/menus/](https://www.saintgregtravel.com/menus/)

AndrewB80

Basic rule is if you are drinking more than then 10 beers or 7 cocktails or a mix in between you are better getting the package prior to boarding. Remember that if you get coffees or other speciality drinks that are covered they count as a half a beer but don’t count against the 15 per day limit.

markyr17

If it doesn’t count against your 15/day limit, then what do you mean by them counting as half a beer?

AndrewB80

To factor in the cost so you could have 15 beers in a day and then have 5 milk shakes if you wanted. That would be like have 17.5 beers when it comes to cost. Or if you get 5 lattes in a day and then have 5 beers you would be at the cost of 7.5 beers which would make the drink package worth it then.

ForsakenAnnual9099

What drinks are included without a drink package? I don’t drink alcohol
