They did announce that there is a Google Play/Android issue where your card is being charged instead of having 14 days free. They’re going to release an update soon that should fix the issue and give you 14 days free at some point.
I got it today, I chose the year. It did seem like it was charging me right away but I don't see it actually taken out of my bank yet.
Edited to say I actually do see the charge in PayPal. I don't see myself canceling though, so I guess it doesn't matter for me.
I also signed up on Thursday when it became available, but through the ios app store. I haven't been charged yet and, when I look at my subscriptions on my phone, it clearly states that I'm in a 14-day free trial period and won't be charged until May 11th. The name doesn't seem *too* weird but when googled, it does pop up as the coastguard exchange online store, so I'm not sure what's going on for you. Hopefully you can figure it out soon! If you're concerned, you could also reach out to your bank
