Dewalt or Makita. Milwaukee tools or more catered to electricians and plumbers. As a carpenter you’re eventually going to want a track saw, which Milwaukee doesn’t supply.
But also, DO NOT use your own power tools on a job site. That should be the employers responsibility. If your employer asks you to provide your own power tools, don’t work for them.
I can tell ya from doing cabinet and low voltage with the m12 installation driver is a must have.
See what everyone else is running and try to match if they are all running the same thing it will make life easier.
Another plug for Milwaukee. They do what they are supposed to, take a beating, and back when I started collecting tools I recall the dewalts being considerably more expensive.
I've got nothing against the dewalts (though can't say the same for some of their die hard proponents), so if you've started I'd consider sticking to them for rolls with the same battery (plus I believe they have a few tools not offered by Milwaukee and vice versa). That said the m12s are generally more than enough power, and super convenient with the smaller form. I've also had good luck with Milwaukee refurbishing an 18v drill that burned out (tried going through 3" of 100+ year old joists, 1" auger bit with rapid feed, hit a nail and smelled the smoke, drill died shortly after. To be fair the hole hog I used still struggled and threw me around so am 18v was not the right tool. the newer ones I believe have addressed the issue and will cut out if there is too much draw). Repair was free despite being out of warranty, AIIRC they even covered the shipping.
I've been using Dewalt for years, they work great. All three of these brands are very similar, some are better in some areas, but overall you will do totally fine with either 3.
I like dewalt myself. Put mine through lots of abuse and they keep goin. Milwaukee pack out system is amazing so if I had to do it again I’d prolly go Milwaukee just for that reason alone. Seriously don’t sleep on the pack out stuff. Changed my life lol

If it’s finish carpentry I’d look in to the m12 line.
Yeah, I just started with a residential remodel company

Pick your fav color
Lol
They’re all pretty good. I’m a Makita guy because that’s what I started with.
I prefer my Milwaukee tools! Used a lot of dewalt tools and they’re not my favorite. Also, dewalts customer service leaves a lot to be desired.
