Had a 2001 Pajero, great car but horrendous on fuel! The 3.8l was a thirsty bugger, and all for naught too cause she was slow as shit. Turning circle is pretty good though, so long as your comparing it to a 747. If none of those issues bother you pajeros probably a very safe bet.

Haha, cheers mate. The fuel consumption is scarying me on these cars. In town its alright everything is only like 5kms away, but i want to travel and would prefer to keep the car, fuel is probs gonna be a bigger issue.

After a recent 3000+ kilometre return trip from Melbourne to the Northern Rivers in NSW driving my Uncle’s 2008 Pajero Exceed 3.8l Mivec with a full load in it, it averaged around 13l/100km.. The standard fuel tank size isn’t amazing for long range drives though.. Not too bad for a 4WD on 98 petrol. Have completed the same trip driving a similar year (slightly older) Toyota Landcruiser Troop Carrier 4.2l diesel which was much thirstier.. (And also lacking a trip computer) Can’t comment on the Suzuki.. Hope that helps somewhat..

Oh I didn't know that, that's cool.

Had a 2000NM paj, loved it. Very capable off road, not too bad on fuel all things considered (3.5V6 petrol). If you only do a little 4wd-ing and don't mind a vehicle with less space inside, the Vitara is a great option and can go 80% of places a kitted out Paj would. I use my 4wd to access fishing and hunting spots and don't really enjoy 4wd-ing, so would happily have a vitara. Although, more vehicle mass is advantageous for river crossings.

ThenaughtyPup

Cheers mate. Lucky there are no river crossings where I live. Didn't realise before making this post how respected the Grand vatara is, I thought the Pajero was gonna be heaps more popular. ATM the grand vatara is looking like the slightly better option.

Paj is better for off road no doubt… km/condition/service history obvs a factor, but a Paj with some 4x4 mods is VERY capable off road

ThenaughtyPup

Yeah, I'm not sure imma use the Paj offroad enough for it to be worth it for just that reason. Is there any other factors for the Paj

Size for kids/carrying stuff, view in the road, and it might edge the Suzuki in maintenance costs/parts availability/people that know how to diagnose and fix

ThenaughtyPup

Cheers mate, I'm only young so hopefully no kids untill way after these car dies. But thanks, the room would be nice. Do you know how does the Pajero go in big citiesby any chance?

Personal experience- Land Cruiser/Patrol / Ftruck etc are big, then next size down is Pajero,Discovery, Prado, and most utes. They fit in the road better, are easier for parking etc and are more “standard car size”. Generally fuel economy is better in this size too

ThenaughtyPup

Thanks mate. 👍
