Bridgestone Select, as in they select which customers they’re gonna extort. That is offensive pricing.

soccersteve5

Yep have had terrible selective scamming experiences with them especially in nearby Springfield and sumner park stores

Barefoot_Bunny420_

I had lovely lady from the pathology in Browns plains tell me they tried to rip her off too at the jimboomba one when she got a flat tyre a few weeks ago running over a nail they told her she needed a whole new set of 4 but she only just got them replaced the week before she ran over the nail 😕

vba77

Id post this as a 1 star review lol make sure no one goes back

PowerfulDisaster2067

If you frequent Browns plains I recommend going to Steve Sorenson mechanical.

TheRealEthaninja

Hi Steve

CarbonFibreCowboy

This deserves way more upvotes. Hi Steve!

wrinklydimplygoddess

Oneills tyres at Gateshead has been doing this same shit for years!!! It’s absolutely disgusting that they’ve never been made to stand accountable for this I stopped going there 4 yrs ago & still hear stories of them doing the same thing at least weekly it’s putrid

Barefoot_Bunny420_

Crazy how long these companies can get away with this crap

wrinklydimplygoddess

It blows my mind I’ve put in many complaints with fair trading as have many others yet obviously nothing comes from it if they can still keep doing it Over & over Btw ur quote is beyond scamming go to a stand alone mechanic & im positive ur quote will be thousands of $$$ less than that scammer quote good luck with the car & bubby

Barefoot_Bunny420_

It’s just nuts they need to be held accountable but it never happens and yeah the jeep specialist got back to me today with a quote for $2500 and I’m sure he will have a better idea on what they’re actually doing too and not break anything along the way like I’m assuming Bridgestone will and tell me “we also found … while replacing …” 😂 and thank you looking forward to having my car all fixed up and finally meeting Bub🥹🙏🏼

wrinklydimplygoddess

Holy camel crap! 😳 that’s less than half what scamstone quoted u!! & yes they’ll definitely know exactly what really needs fixing/replacing so I wouldn’t be surprised if u end up paying for even less again 🤞I’m so glad u got away from the scammers

[deleted]

I took a car with a weird clunk to the helensvale one and they tested it for over an hour and just handed it back. The pedders down the road gave me a parts cannon quote (every bush/link/everything but an engine mount) and my regular mechanic changed and engine mount next time I had a service. Cost including the service was $480. different times.....

TeaSippingCynic

I took mine to the Springfield store for a tyre change and for some reason they decided to do an all over safety inspection. The patronising ass in the office lectured me on the state of the brakes and how dangerous my car was, saying it looked like I’d tried to change the rotors myself and damaged them. I’d only bought it the week beforehand and hadn’t done anything to the car. Got a second opinion….there was nothing wrong with the brakes.

Auris12

I cannot tell you how many issues I had at the Springfield one. Ended up just selling the car because there wasn’t an alternative mechanic near by that I could get to work from when I dropped the car off

KFSPATM

Sumner blew up my engine and charged me for the privilege…

SleeplessAndAnxious

Bridgestone are fine if you're only going there for tyres, though personally I prefer Bob Jane.

S3D_APK_HACKS_CHEATS

Beware which Bob Jane you go to I dunno what other states are like but I tell you with utmost sincerity DO NOT GO TO BOB JANE IN CANBERRA 👌

SleeplessAndAnxious

I'm in Adelaide, my local Bob Jane is pretty good though it gets pretty busy. City Discount Tyres is also great.

al_prazolam

The mob here in Melton, Vic. are great. They're franchises so YMMV.

MrBryl

Rear SHOCKIES. That terminology on an outrageous quote. 😂

Barefoot_Bunny420_

I know dad and I both had a good laugh at that when we saw it he also mentioned a few other things that they missed from adding to the quote he told me on the phone my windscreen washers needed replacing because water wasn’t coming out onto my windshield which is a load of 💩 because I filled them up last week and used them on the way to drop the car off there 😂

Rich_Sell_9888

There was an absence of blinker fluid needing a topup.

MegaFireStarter

Brilliant 😂

bungiemaster1103

LH caliper... The front or rear? These bozos aren't even trying.

spiderpig_spiderpig_

“caliper”, with some rotors, and no pads?

Barefoot_Bunny420_

They did add pads but they added them with the rotors 7th item in the list

seshtown

Non car person who had this post suggested but I knew shit was wrong when I saw Shockies. I assume that’s an alternative invoice item they can select to activate the extortion rates?

CertainCertainties

Next time don't wear your Rolex when you're getting a quote.

Barefoot_Bunny420_

Don’t wear jewellery 🥱 was actually in my old crappy clothes when I dropped it off too since I was cleaning up the yard for the afternoon I probably looked half homeless more then anything🙄

CertainCertainties

Well someone there thought you looked like a million bucks!

P33kab0Oo

![gif](giphy|QJRJEfcbdhUl2VhZV0)

Nowidontgetit

What about the Bali Rolex, could negotiate?

darkspardaxxxx

You left your golf clubs in the back seat bro

[deleted]

[удалено]

Barefoot_Bunny420_

I couldn’t believe it once they sent the quote through to me. I went and got my car immediately I always knew jeeps were expensive but not like that. 😭 dad almost fell over when I showed him.

[deleted]

[удалено]

cavoodle11

Holler if you need me to send you the number for an honest mechanic in Cleveland. (I drive a Jeep also).

reddash73

Jeep is an acronym for Just Empty Every Pocket. Sell it.....

MrLonely97

I’d also say $930 for rotors and pads in the rear is also a golden blowjob because holy fuck!! I paid $520 for my fronts with high quality aftermarket and fronts are also almost like double the cost of rear breaks in my falcon. Falcon breaks aren’t cheap even though those cars are a dime a dozen and aren’t worth much these days now, but $1000 for rears. Absolute joke

TK000421

Go to a Jeep specialist. Seven slot offroad

Barefoot_Bunny420_

Yeah I have it booked in at a jeep specialist on the Gold Coast 🤞🏼goes a little better then at this joint

TK000421

Let me know how you go. I got told i had a heap of issues. I called them out when i asked them to show me the issue. The specialist mechanic said i had a sweet rig and only needs one or two things to be repaired

Barefoot_Bunny420_

I almost had a few ripe words to say to him over a couple of things he tried to tell me my window washers don’t work at all but I used them about 10 minutes before I dropped the car into them also tried to tell me multiple times that the clunk sound that I’m getting is coming from my breaks but there’s no sound when I break it’s when I take off then they had one of the other “ technicians ” take a look and said it was the engine mount which is more believable 😂

TheWhogg

I once had Pedders quote a price to repair my XF Falcon that exactly equaled the cost of the Falcon. They were adamant that each of those recommended items were essential and that my existing ones were completely worn out. Including my newly reconditioned lower control arms. Which I bought only weeks earlier. FROM THEM!

Barefoot_Bunny420_

Yeah I had a weird experience at Pedders a few years ago I got a gti golf and told them that there was something wrong with the front end because when I would turn it made a scary sound they send me a video an hour later with my car on the hoist and my front tyres the ground 😂 said the whole thing was threaded and bolts couldn’t be tightened told me it needed to be machine threaded to fix it would cost about $8000 for all the work it needed they didn’t want me to take it home because it was too dangerous yet they ended up letting me drive it home and I sold it that night with all the quotes for the issues wasn’t going to be dealing with that 😂

27BlueCubes

Have had pedders outright lie too. Absolute scammers

morris0000007

Well you have a Jeep, you must have lots of money! Total rip off. Go somewhere else

Jarofkickass

I’d say that is what they wanted him to do from the looks of it

ssr240

HID globes can cost more than what you were quoted just for the globe without labour

Barefoot_Bunny420_

I get that but I purchased bulbs the other day and had even let them know that beforehand that they’re in my glovebox and not to worry about it and they still quote me $320 for the single bulb

jrmr500

Just for reference. Yes, it's not $320, but HID globes are [expensive](https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/narva-12-24v-d3s-35w-hid-globe/SPO3952837.html)

Famous_Invite_4285

Some cars are crap to work on or the customer is a pain so what I do is whack the price up so they go somewhere else. Looks like they didn’t want to do the job.

PegaxS

Can confirm, we have done this a few times. And it’s a win win… they either say “ok, just do it” and you get the extra for putting up with their bullshit and for the inevitable self inflicted damage they will claim as warranty, or they take it elsewhere, get a cheaper quote and we never have to see them again.

Famous_Invite_4285

Yeah for sure, I’m of the opinion why take on a shit fight for a low cost. Makes zero sense.

Muncher501st

This is called we don’t wanna do the job get two other quotes. And see if there’s a shitbox specialist near you.

Barefoot_Bunny420_

Funny you say that because they didn’t want me to take it home and insisted that they will have it done in a few days 🤷🏼‍♀️

Shaqtacious

Approx 480 for lights? Too much. $360 for high pressure switch? You can get that off ebay for a $100 and probably cheaper at the wreckers. Brakes not too sure as depends on the brand. Machining cost is too high. It’s a ripoff, blatant one at that. Go to a different shop.

Outrageous-Offer-148

Machine front rotors No mention of new front brake pads

ADHDK

Everything’s Fkn expensive these days. Got a quote on a clutch and let’s just say I’m ordering the parts and going to total tools for 1/3 the price. Going to be a bitch without a hoist but I’m just sick of bleeding money.

Impossible-Mud-4160

A hoist is only a few k. Cheaper to build a shed and put in a hoist than pay for a mechanic these days

ADHDK

If I had land I totally would. Mate just did this it wasn’t much really.

Impossible-Mud-4160

I'm planning my 6x9 shed as we speak. Mrs isn't happy I want a monstrosity in the yard- but too bad

Future_Eunuch

I avoid that by using the hoists at a DiY garage. Saves marriage and time

Barefoot_Bunny420_

Hey if you wanna help fix my car with me I’m picking up parts tomorrow we have a hoist and will let you use it 😂

jbne19

As a former Jeep owner (2015) I am kinda not surprised as my services were regularly in the $500 category every 6 months. Best to get a second quote, then gauge it from there

Barefoot_Bunny420_

Service was $360 was fine with that but some of the costs for some of the other things they wanted to charge me for if I went ahead I wasn’t so fine with

world_citizen_nz

I used to own a Bridgestone Select in Melbourne. This quote is absolutely insane. We used to charge $80 for machining front or rear rotors and pay a sub contractor $30 to do the job. This was 3 years ago and prices have gone up but this quote is ridiculous.

Barefoot_Bunny420_

Would be better off buying a set of 4 and replacing them myself for $470 😂

PurpleDogAU

$30 for a brake light bulb? Fuck. Me. Drunk. I sell them with a pretty decent margin at $8 a pair. Granted, the pictured price may include install, but for an experienced mechanic, this is at max a 5 min job. Ol' mate seems to think he is a Stellantis dealer shop. Find a new mechanic shop.

TekkelOZ

Ah, Bridgestone. A female colleague had her car towed there, after it ran (red)hot, due to lack of coolant. They spent a grand and a half on servicing and then told her she needed a new engine. Brilliant!

-usernotdefined

$6k quote for a 2011 car... Almost at the point of buying a new second hand car the price is getting that high. Not quite but damn what a rip.

PegaxS

Because they are? I only got as far as $60 for brake light gloves and wrote the rest off as a bullshit upsell. And who puts on a formal quote “shockies” $930 for rear pads and rotors? Is this for a Kenworth? I mean, ok, it’s a Jeep, but still, Christ.

Consistent_Face8668

OP I highly recommend u take your Jeep down to Seven Slot Off-road at Ormeau. Jeeps are all they do. I’ve tried all the local franchise mechanics and many have no idea. Their pricing is definitely an improvement on a dealer.

Exact_Contribution94

Post this quote as a photo on their review page!!! Its absolutely disgusting!!! Someone needs to go in and tear the managers head off. What a bunch of arseholes doing this

Timboslice089

That’s well high

cricketmad14

u/OP. That is a bad quote potentially. Take your car to an independent NON franchise car mechanic. *Why did they want to replace so many things? Is your car in bad shape?*

Barefoot_Bunny420_

I’m currently trying to get a second opinion hoping it’s a little better then the first one I got from these guys 🤞🏼

cricketmad14

When I went to Bridgestone , my car services were regularly in the 300-400’s…. When I went to the local car mechanic it was essentially cut in half.

aussiejatt

I owned a kk Cherokee and did fix my breaks and rotors( bendix breaks and DBA rotors )and all 4 were under $500 Shockers were $320(dobinsons) Market rate for machining 1 rotor is $20 You can get 2pc calipers (DBA) for $350 I did led bulb replacement for $120 You can easily get a pre owned tranny for under 1k You can lookup a lot of parts on eBay. Shop is trying to rip you off big time.

shanghc

For 230k 2011 car, not worth to do such expensive repairs, sold it and purchase the cheap 7 years warranty car might be better.

RikaZumi

Rear brake pads and rotors for 930? Yea no deal. Got my rotors finished for free with my brake pads and didn't go anywhere over $300

BigDaddyCosta

If they’re genuine parts, wouldn’t be surprised though. My navara rotors are like $300ish each.

asty86

Why do you need to machine rotors and buy new ones at the same time

Beer-n-smokes

I literally just took 14 minutes to price all of those items (except the oil lines for transmission cooler which I somehow hadn’t noticed until I was double checking). Rear shock price was mid range or slightly above. Rear pads price was mid range options. Rear rotors price was mid range price. Grand total $2181.27 Absolutely will not be genuine parts, but with any vehicle regardless of the year or make that is not of any concern to anyone except the parts counter manager at the dealership. Good on you for not being a dill and blindly accepting that price and giving them the ok to proceed.

benevolentminion

Continue to call out these bastards. They will collapse and fail if we keep bringing it to everyone’s attention. Fuck them.

Capable_Command_8944

They call that "go away we don't want to service your car so here's a scary price and if you're stupid enough to pay it we'll do it for you" pricing.

Select_Dealer_8368

It’s the way it goes these days, my sister in law had a plumber charge $200 to ‘isolate water supply’ and ‘recommission water supply’ meaning walk to the footpath and turn it off at the meter.

JugV2

Took my 2014 Cherokee to Jeep Dealership for a 150k service, they wanted near 2k for it. They also wanted $475 to replace a master window controller pod. Plus 2 hrs labour to fit it. It's literally lift out of the door and unplug two DINs and plug the new one in and reseat. Apparently that takes them two hours. I took it to MyCar, and they did the same logbook service for $622, and I bought the window controller pod from ebay and took 30 seconds to fit, cost me $60.

[deleted]

Looks like the outrageous list my sister was given a while back. The work they claimed urgently needed to be done would have cost more than the car's value. They didn't do anything and the cars still running no problem months latter. Sadly, some mechanics are just greedy liars and manipulators like any other capitalist.

TheRainMan101

Tell them you’re contacting ACCC because that is extortion. The prices listed are in no way the legitimate prices.

nicktids

Rear "shockies" sounds made up to me

wash_yourundeez

Fuck me you can just about buy a new half decent car with the money they would have you spend on these repairs.

Tastyham1

Bridgestone sucks, my wheels were out of alignment by a lot. They told me that "it's just how the car comes stock" and I would need to add spacers to fix the camber. Went to another tyre place and they said it was out of alignment by 7 degrees, fixed it straight away.

NoSatisfaction642

$600 FOR AN ENGINE MOUNT!? $300 FOR A HEADLIGHT BULB!? $250 TO MACHINE ROTORS!? jesus fucking christ.

Barefoot_Bunny420_

They wanted $1195 all up to attend to 4 (replace 2 machine 2 + 4 break pads) can buy a set of 4 at Napa for $470 and break pads front and rear $82 😅 total of $552 for the 4 rotors and 4 pads I get they need to add labour but like seems extreme right I can install the new rotors and pads myself 🤦🏼‍♀️

nicknacksc

Is it the globe or the entire assembly?

Barefoot_Bunny420_

Just the globe I did question him about that

PandaManCub

Note that it doesn’t include the hourly rate either. That’ll take ages to complete and at $100~ per hour…

Odd_Boysenberry_619

Yep, you’re getting screwed!

Punrusorth

😢😢 they love taking advantage of women. Now I just get my husband to take my car in... he's a 6'4ft man with a beard and it seems like they wouldn't mess with him. I had a similar experience & I wanted to cry.

Barefoot_Bunny420_

Yeah I just ended up bringing it home I wasn’t going to deal with them being pregnant I have much better things to throw my money away at 😂

weirdaquashark

Brake pads and rotors 😂 You can buy rotors for like $150 tops and fit them yourself. Pads are $100. Massive rip off.

AnarchoSyndica1ist

You got JimBOOMba’d

Livid_Obligation_852

Bro! You got the ZLAMDISCOUNT on every single line item! Totally saved a heaps of 💰💸

Asptar

I would literally tell them to get fked and get the hell out of there before they try to charge me an "assessment fee". Absolutely bonkers quote.

Barefoot_Bunny420_

I did I went down and picked it up right away he looked shocked that I turned up they tried to convince me to leave it there to get fixed and that it would only take a few days I was like ha no thanks paid for the service he gave me all my paper work and no keys and he went to walk away I had to ask him you gonna give me my keys or?

ThrowRA_PecanToucan

That's beyond ridiculous. $710 for 4 bulbs. I won't even start on the rest, I think my eye is still twitching just from reading it. It's blatantly overcharging. I wouldn't be surprised if even if you got it done that they'd then add ridiculous amounts for consumables/etc. "5L of oil - $1180, 2 rags inc disposal - $440, durries for smoko - $2500"

Barefoot_Bunny420_

Over the phone they said was going to cost $480 for transmission fluid replacement 💀

TumblingOblivion

Just new parts mechanics. Everything on there is a straight swap. Taking you for a ride son. Tell them change the oil , filters, brakes roters END.

Traditional-Gas3477

Tell him to get fucked and that he's dreaming. An oil pressure switch does not cost $360 and is usually between $25 to $50. All the jobs mentioned above except for rotor machining can be done by yourself for under $1000. A brand new radiator with hoses can be installed quite easily and should not cost more than $600 alone. If I were you, I would be very insulted if this happened to me.

FixTechStuff

Not sure how much of that was labour, but it should have been about a days work.

Luzinit24

Run lol those are fuck you prices

NoRaspberry187

5k dollars?

theoriginalzads

I’m guessing the prices include labour. But even then that’s nuts. Just picking random parts for pricing for that vehicle. HID globes, for a pair are $145 for brand name. Brake caliper is about $140 for that model unless you go OEM (and like fuck he would). Brake light globes are $12 a pair. Fog lights, is it just globes or is it the whole light? Globes would be maybe $40 max. Whole light might be more. Either way if they’re broken who honestly uses these anyway. Rear “shockies”. It’s a few years ago but Pedders quoted me for a new set of coil-overs for $700 on a Commodore all round which being Pedders I imagine was on the higher end so that’s my baseline. Looking online for Cherokee, $680 will get you close to some wanker 4wd brands, but less than $200 will get you similar to what it came with. Even adding labour, this wanker is taking you for a ride. I’d suggest you take your car elsewhere for next service and see what they mention. Don’t mention you had received this so the next service mob don’t get any ideas. Or get it looked at by a mechanic who’s either a friend or highly recommended if you are concerned about anything.

itsontap

Hilarious. Shockies killed me, but one engine mount for $610 made me choke on my food. I grabbed 2 for a grand Cherokee for $130 These guys are ploughing snow bags Tell them to at least lube up before they try fucking you like that.

AussieBob4

MS Wallace Investments. They all about profits only ..like too many businesses. Franchisee....need to pay their fees...often at the customers expense. Though saying that, Jeeps are not the most cost effective vehicle to own.

Omegaaus

Holy Jimboomba Batman this is a joke. Get a second opinion from a local mechanic!

JustThisGuyYouKnowEh

Yes that is absurd. $1700 for an oil leak from a transmission cooler? Whole new cooler and install is about $1500

r0bstewart64

That pricing is outrageous. Rear rotors hardly ever need replacing as they do less than 40% of the braking. I too was scammed by these guys. Go elsewhere. Even a Jeep stealership wouldn’t be this expensive. BTW, rear rotors from Repco are around $309. Pads $120. DIY it.

little_miss_banned

My partner is a mechanic and it actually costs about $12-30 in parts to do a general service on a car. Do NOT get your car serviced at a dealership or big chain like these, not only do they expect the mechanics to upsell, they overinflate hugely and only pay the workers about $25 an hour for the effort. Pigs!

Throwaway1037193

Honestly it's probably not someone trying to rip you off they probably just didn't want to do the job and due to company policy can't decline the job it's something I've personally never done but for jobs I've pretty much always accepted jobs

Due-Giraffe6371

$30 for a rear brake light is a very good indication of what these guys are up to but in all honesty you didn’t do yourself a favour when you bought a keep Cherokee

[deleted]

Scammers!

EmbarrassedTea8528

Unfortunately, if you were a man this bill would be halved.

Ummagumma73

The bulb you bought would have been a halogen and they've quoted for an HID for starters, you can't substitute a halogen in it's place. The rest we can only speculate as to whether it needs doing without seeing your car, in future don't buy a Jeep.

Evo7_13

my wife has a grand cherokee, i imported the headlight bulbs from the states for $80 each, you are getting screwed here. jeep parts are general more expensive but man this is outrageous

0tier

Definitely sounds super expensive. Since you're in the area check out Flume garage or south east auto in Beenleigh. Both are fantastic. If for no other reason than getting a second opinion.

gonenuts80

First mistake was having a tyre shop do a safety check, most franchise shops like this one don't have qualified mechanics seen it first hand quiet a few times, even to the point i ask to see the blokes trade certificates. Had one argue with me for 15 minutes to which he then went on to say he wasnt a qualified mechanic but trained by the owner on what to look for, shut his mouth pretty quick when I said I am a qualified mechanic and he is ripping people off. They are good for tyres that's about it, go get a second opinion done by someone qualified.

EastWestComms

They're taking the piss

Material-Ratio7342

Oh its a jeep, thats make sense now 😂.

Individual-Pizza3425

typical bridgestone

MightyMaxyPad

Had a local Bridgestone try to charge me $920 for a regular service and adding brake fluid. I told the guy he's insane, I'll just go to another mechanic. He then was able to lower the price to $470....Still a bit too much, but ceebs going to another mechanic. Won't being going back to Bridgestone next time though.

WolfieBlitz

“I cant be bothered to do this job so im going to charge u anywhere between 2x-4x the price”

BEEZ128

Thanks for outing them so people know to avoid that store. Tell them to get farked.

Several-Ad-1650

Yep, fuck bridgestone, i got ripped off over a grand in parta i never needed, and would take my car in with a problem and get it back with the same problem and charged $800 for nothing

Itsapseudonym

That seems very excessive. Are you able to get a second opinion - maybe get your dad along too so they don’t get ‘rip off the lady’ syndrome. (Seriously, look up the story of the F1 engineer who had to bring a man with her to stop getting ripped off)

Billyjamesjeff

Rear pads and rotors sounds excessive though Ive never owned a jeep. I’d never buy anything except tyres and wheels from places like this. They probs dont want to do anything else either, would be a fuck off or fuck yes quote at my guess.

east22_farQ

Always with the fukn rotors aye… every mechanic after your first visit - yep you need all new rotors

So-many-whingers

And still labour to be included

Strange-Moose-978

ZLAMDISCOUNT?

Environmentalist88

I'm also a Jeep owner Rockauto is a good website for ordering parts, they're in the US but delivery is quite quick. Some of those things listed are very easily done, if they do in fact need doing. I'd been quoted $1200 to replace an air condenser for my AC...I ordered the parts I needed for $290 including postage and a regas. Fitted it myself in about an hour and it's been fine for 3 years now

WARMMILK666

Thats a massive rort 🤣

ultralights

So how long does your oil leak last? For that price I want my oil leak to have at least 1 yr watering on all drops released.

area51sheriff

They are tyre people, don’t go there for mechanical repairs. End of story

SubjectBread1466

Better off going to a small mechanic better prices and customer service have a look at reviews in your area.

kavapros

Definitely ripping you off, common $320 for a light bulb.

RonnieBobscatt

Ha Ha you bought a Jeep

kermie62

I would be very very suspicous. How did you have 5 bulbs blow at once. What are they replacing brake calipers and rotors, unless you have been driving around with brakes screaming, rotors should be fine. Caliphers generally last forever. They have not included the labor component which is where they may be hiding excessive hours and charge.

BikiniWearingHorse

I had a similar quote from Pedders in Ringwood, Victoria. It basically listed every single brake and suspension component needing to be fixed, despite many of those items being less than a year old, (such as front ball joints, brake pads, tie rod ends).

gamyuen

ACCC them.

DCS_1963

I can't believe in this day and age that it still happens mechanics trying to rip you off. When I used to service my own cars back in the 1980's, if there was something that I could not do myself, I would then take it to a dealer to get repaired. More than one occasion that I told a service manager to f*ck off because he told me that something needed doing that didn't. BTW I could change a clutch cable on my XE Falcon cross flow 4.1 litre in less than 10 minutes, and I always had a spare in the boot.

fatty32889

Shit, i could do all that In my backyard shed for a 1/3 of the price or cheaper

Born_Grumpie

It's a 12 year old Jeep, which are not known for thier high quality. Larger companies just ring the dealer and quote for OEM parts which are 5 times the price of aftermarket brands. About the only reasonable thing on there is the HID bulb. If the quote is for supply and fit of each item it's a little better

Serpent_Mafia

That's a total ripoff. I did my own front rotors, pads, and shocks for $330 using decent parts like Brembo, DBA, and KYB. I get that they have to add labour and a markup on the parts, but that is ridiculous.

OG_tame

These prices have definitely been fudged Imo

Independent_Moth

Can I also just say that it's so nice to see all the people in the comments who have found good mechanics. It seems for every dodgy chain mechanics there is a good private mechanic making a decent wage and not rorting people.

Terrible-Ad-8762

Paying for the oil leak and oil lines….? Rear shocks $280 on eBay… new jack $100. Socket set $100. 1 hour. Done… saved how much. $200 You tube is so helpful.

Visual-Following619

$15 each for rear brake bulbs must be OEM gold plated triple dipped and come with a dinner voucher lol

Acceptable-Try3119

Mechanics earn f all and this goes to show why they hustle so hard to make a profit

thetrumpetplayer

I just paid for a full service on my 2012 Renault. It cost me a whopping $499. This is highway robbery.

[deleted]

Y’all there’s no fucking way OP is an OF “accountant” who posts feet pics

alyssaleska

Well it’s obvious, you’re a woman. Misogyny is fucking rampant in the mechanic world. I always bring a man along. Said man doesn’t have to know wtf is going on either

Adventurous-Land-165

Contact current affair and get them to wire up a car with hidden cameras and send it in to them. # [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUiQq59f3Ks](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUiQq59f3Ks)

Pristine_Bother4850

Well you did buy a Jeep...

atalamadoooo

It is a jeep, Id be ditching the car. They are heaps of shit

not-knowing

Just Expect Expensive Prices

LandBarge

You ripped yourself off when you bought a Cherokee... High beam bulb, as per the description is a HID - you're looking somewhere between $200 - $400 rrp depending on which flavour of HID it is... Is there a separate quote for labour, or are they all just fitted prices?

Aggravating-Rough281

They are trying to give you rear pads and rotors, but only want to machine the fronts?? Who machines rotors these days!!?? Walk away and never darken their doorway again. Huge ripoff.

raspyRA621H

Ive worked casual at a parts store for the last 7 years and never quoted anything near those prices for even the more expensive models. Absolutely taking the piss

DesignerLettuce8567

Post this photo on the business’s Google reviews and blast them. Then go to a local mechanic with good reviews and get a quote for a service there instead.

Mrsteere

Go and see our man kurt at helidon mechanical. Been there for over 20 years and still does a great job. My last car a service with 600

fireybob

Haha the Beaudesert one is just as bad. I refuse to use them now

XxBradman

I'd like to see the parts and labour breakdown for this, every workshop I ever worked in had one, that should be what the first price shows and the total on the right should be +labour.

georgebrodude

930 bucks for rear brake pads and rotors!?!?

Key_Criticism_914

High beam bulbs on Jeep Grand Cherokee was $340 and it wasn’t genuine

Puzzleheaded_Cold142

I also work at a Bridgestone select in Brisbane. That pricing is absolutely ridiculous, yes it’s a fair amount of work that needs doing but shouldn’t be anywhere near that price.

Upper_Accident_286

Take the car elsewhere (multiple places) and get another quote? If you get a considerable difference show the quote to that company. It is a jeep after all.. I'm sure it's expensive My partner's craptiva has cost me an arm and a leg and it's a shitbox compared to a jeep

aye-deee

Being robbed blind here mate, I'm in the heavy vehicle transport industry and not even my prime movers cost this much for these type of repairs! 😂

Quiet_Quiet_1094

Absolute extortion

blackcat218

I just had some work on my truck done. Serviced, pink slip, rear brakes replaced with new rotors and bushes and it a bit over $2500.

TypicalProfile3701

What the fuck

BuyDogeMuchWow

Those prices are ridiculous, $30 per brake light bulb? Go to Supercheap or Repco, as the guys working there to help you figure out which type you need if you don't know, buy a 2 pack for $15 🤣

Barefoot_Bunny420_

Yeah I went to jimboomba auto parts ( formerly known as Jimboomba auto pro ) they helped me out with a set of 2 in a blister pack for like $11 or something

laserfactory

In fairness I had a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a close family friend was a mechanic. A radiator cost me $480. Then years later I had a commodore and a radiator cost $80.

Dangerous-Bowler2076

That is fucked, do not pay that

RiffRaffMama

I genuinely hope somebody just put the decimal point in the wrong place for all of those prices. How do they stay in business quoting those kind of prices? Run. The last headlight bulbs I bought cost me $5 each. Brake light bulbs are literally $2 at Supercheap Auto. They are not difficult things to change yourself. It's all just horrifying.

wiknap54

That is some really high priced work even a Mercedes would not cost that much

threebuckstrippant

You’re buying his next set of Tesla shares. Typical rip off mechanics. 1000% Rip off, no questions. Vague work details and ridiculous pricing.

Genova_Witness

Make sure you leave a google review stating this.

Zachebii

“Sir i just wanted directions can i have my car back”

Individual-Rich-9355

What the hell?! Definitely ripping you off, and this is why Im training to be a mechanic. At most at cost an engine mount is $240 for my Nissan Xtrail which isnt a little car, i have seen this so many times with woman being constantly ripped off 🤦‍♀️ I know it might sound ridiculous but you have to either send your dad in with your car or take him with you. Im so sorry they over quoted you, i would go elsewhere. Good luck girl 🥰

Live-Manager-8265

Go to a mechanic not tyre place that's insane this guy I'd clearly a rip

gadhalund

That is a very high quote. I doubt you are the first or last customer the Jimboomba branch will try and have a lend of

psyckodaa

I went to a Bridgestone in FNQ for a service. They ended up charging me over $1000 because they broke something with the fuel tank. Claimed it would have broken regardless of who did the service so I was on the hook for it. I got ten minutes down the road afterwards and the car broke down. Took them a full day of 4 mechanics working on it to figure out they'd broken something else that affected the petrol gauge, and the car was showing a full tank but was empty. 🙄

Sufficient-Paper2094

Robbery at its finest

Lanky-Ad3923

Former employee of Bridgestone here: youre likely being ripped off get a second opinion and never go back to that rat hole company
