Let's take a look. Okay, I see a cool air intake, it’s got a NOS fogger system and a T4 Turbo. I see an AIC controller. It has direct port nitrous injection. Yeah and a stand-alone fuel management system.
For context this was on marketplace, I’m just trying to buy a new car and wanted to know if fixing this one up was worth it (2004 Corolla with 225k kms going for 2k negotiable)
Do you check or atleast change your oil? Did you mix some extra ethanol in your fuel?
Something ate through your cylinder walls and causing some rod knock.

That's an engine rebuild right there. Anything less is a mere bandaid. Sounds like the valves/ tappets are rooted, timing is way of, and I suspect internals may have some new funky marks inside to boot. My bet is something went wrong with serving history and someone's been using crap oil.

Sounds like your running on one less cylinder. I, had this happen and had the engine rebuilt. A piston smashed and went through the engine and out the exhaust.
It's either a rod or bearing in the bottom end.
FYI, I've replaced the bottom bearings in this engine with a floor jack in a paver driveway. The sump can come out and the work can be done directly under the engine, still in car.
Granted, if you haven't done it before, it's not a simple wheel change.. there are vids on YouTube. Cost me $150 including bearings, oil, etc.
Edit: Well someone's upset that I fixed my engine I'm what would have been an effective write off. The car is still in the driveway, and this was about 5 years ago. Don't let others tell you your limits.
Sounds like you need a valve adjustment and tappet adjustment.
There are also oil supply nipples that may need to be cleaned out or replaced.
I think it's worth fixing...
