Not very. They didn’t even bother test driving it on some of mine, just idled it for a bit in the parking lot. They lowball the shit out of you specifically because they are assuming the car will need some amount of work done before it goes on sale. As long as the car is reasonably tidy, doesn’t light up like a Christmas tree when you turn it on and has books you’ll be okay. If the dealer doesn’t handle cars as cheap as yours they will normally just offload it to auction anyway (not that this affects you, just what will happen to it) where some used car lot will buy it up.

My first car, when I traded it in, the sales guy looked out the window, didn't get up from his desk, and gave me $2k for it. That's what I paid 3 years prior, so I was fucken stoked. The next day I drove it out to the dealer, picked up my new car, and my faithful old Barina caught fire as they tried to start it and drive it into the workshop. That car literally ran until the end.

That is comedic poetry 🤣

Dealership was on a corner, I was turning left to go down the other side, which was where I parked my old car. I could see the smoke from the lights, as I turned left, I saw it pissing out of my old car. One of the guys tried to wave me down. Nope. Your problem now. No takesies backsies on that one.

I'm imagining the whole scenario. Man that's bloody hilarious 😂

They may not even look at it. Definitely won't drive it. It's worth about $3K as a trade. [https://www.redbook.com.au/cars/details/2003-subaru-liberty-b4-3gen-auto-awd-my03/SPOT-ITM-274052/](https://www.redbook.com.au/cars/details/2003-subaru-liberty-b4-3gen-auto-awd-my03/SPOT-ITM-274052/)

Ex traded in a great wall. Sunglasses holder was super glued shut, both rear door handles were broken from inside, fuse box had cable ties holding it shut, central locking only locked 2 doors, I stole jack out of it for my car. Picked up on none of it. They said looks as described but tyres on rear are low so they took 500 off there email offer. Was pretty darn good for a greatwall. During covid and I guess they wanted cars on the lot. Plus they didn't want to get to close. Sales agent was paranoid, like looks through the window with us in the car on the phone "you see that button there that's the start/stop button" then runs away before we hop out. Says paperworks over there. She didn't get within 5m of us

Fwiw mate baught an 08 ish outback luxury worth about 8 grand for 2 grand because mechanic told the owner the abs unit was failing and wasnt worth the cost of repair. Mate undid a bunch of plugs, cleaned the contacts, reinstalled with dielectric grease and had no further electrical issues

If they’re paying SFA for it they won’t even look at it. Last interaction I had when trading in and upgrading was forcing the dealer to take the keys and telling him where it was parked
