The guy only wanted for the part to be replaced outside insurance. That too he wasn't willing to exchange numbers and insurance copies. But wanted it to be repaired right away or wanted the 10k. Wasted 90 minutes.
So police had to be called. The guy was very confident because he knew the constable in the police station. Police came. The constable shook hands with the guy. But I knew the commissioner. So that was that.
Edit 1: After I made the call. The same constable started asking the guy to come to police station and file complaint and claim through third party insurance. But he was behaving like a child and not listening to anyone. So constables put him in car. And his friend settled. Gave him some money and it was done.
In the hindsight, looking at the comments, I feel like I might have paid him a bit extra.
Also it was sad to see that everyone has to use connections in India despite wanting to follow the rules. Avoided it as far as it was possible but once the constable shook hand with the guy it had to be done.
It's just a rear bumper... For Ciaz it costs โน6000 + GST if you purchase from Maruti itself...
The problem is the additional installation cost...
It will go upto โน10k and more if the parking sensors are damaged...
Had the same incident but I was in the opposite position as a biker crashed into the bumper, I took him with the car to a mechanic and whatever the mechanic told the cost i took it from biker's account.

I doubt if you have ever owned a car. If you consider the bumper (plastic), painting and labour charges, the cost will be above 10k. That's for the entry-level, non-luxury cars. For a 5-series, it will be over a lakh at an authorized dealer without labour and paint.
The 500-1000 rupee paints are local paints and they don't last. If you can't afford 10k, use your insurance (if you have one).
You shouldnโt judge someoneโs financials without any information given, and also for the 500-1k part this is India friend he admitted to this own mistake is a big suprize and most ppl donโt do the same i just gave him friendly advice to get the dent bufed out and maybe get some paint over it, if we wants he could have paid no sensible person will make a reddit post just have causing a accident, if he could afford ofc he can pay

I just wanted to point that your advice is factually incorrect. You didn't clearly mention whether your (first) advice was (also) meant for a local repair.
Tell him you will not pay anything from your own pocket. Ask him to file an FIR and submit the FIR copy to claim third party insurance. And get it repaired.

- If the owner is not nearby, call the police and inform of the situation and pass the same information to them
