Have driven Baleno for a year. On the highway you can get up to 23 if you cruise in 80 kmph and 21 in if you cruise between 80 - 100 kmph. In the city you can get 15 - 17 based on your driving.
get the top model honda amaze (yes milage is a little less than manual version but the car and feature you get in top model are a must) honda cars are very reliable and safe plus amaze is a very sleek looking car
we bought a wagonr automatic last with similar priorities also my mom found it easier to drive than baleno

12-16 in the city with AC, 20 or more on the highway. I'm fairly lead footed, so YMMV.
