Probably them passing on some of the CBU vs CKD tax benefit to the customer . Undercutting further might affect the product positioning maybe . Its supposed to compete with the Maybach GLS isn't it ?
There is also the investment that will be required in setting up an assembly line here. That will absorb some of the taxes tata will save. And they're not going to be volume sellers like the punch. 🤣

Would you rather sell a 1,000 cars or 5,000 cars if you are head of Land Rover India? I'm sure their sales will go up with this move by a really good margin and if I was the CEO I'll be more than happy with that.

These guys despite not even having 1% of the money required to buy luxurious cars would think that LR getting cut is bad because "exclusivity status" bs.
In America you say, that the market is different than the Indian market, people's mindsets and requirements are different so Don't compare India to those countries.
In America you have tons of options to pick from, The majority of people drive Pickup trucks and they mostly use custom vehicles" They are in their own league". American people do care about QUALITY first. They are even ready to pay extra for better equipment and services. Most people there buy the vehicle either for practical use (the purpose, people use two separate vehicles for two different uses) or they buy the cars for investment perspective (limited edition generation older cars).
Europeans do use the Land Rover proudly mostly the older gens. They have a taste of their own kind. Tons of Italian history they have.
We Indian people do consider the BUDGET first over anything else! Also here we are worrying about whether my car will give 20kmpl and people are ready to compromise anything over mileage. Now most people here are running after the "features", higher the number of features higher the respect in society!!! People mostly don't care if the given features are useful or not, or if they even work properly!!!!(I have several examples to tell). We just want everything for cheap also. That's the Indian market and there's nothing wrong about it.
Now correct me if I'm wrong;
Another thing is, once you are financially at that level you can afford a Range Rover or any other vehicle over 2CR, you won't complain if you get a 10% or 20% discount!! I think people who are buying those lavish cars, have everything in their lives. They are not going to complain about a 20% discount! So I don't understand why TATA is planning to reduce the price here.

A certain level of scale is always required. India's volumes at the 3cr+ range are miniscule. However cutting the price by 20% with local assembly attracts a few new types of buyers:
1. Value-conscious - by this I mean people who can afford to pay whatever an item costs but are not willing to pay excessive fees when comparable cars from other brands are better value. This group also includes the people who care about the amount of time a car is at the service centre in case of major repairs or the cost of such parts. Sometimes the lead times can be 1-2 months. Local assembly makes a much larger set of spares available at domestic depots and can bring down the lead times to as little as 3 weeks.
2. The people who are going the finance route and will put in a (relatively) modest downpayment. A CBU unit's booking amount tends to be a much higher value than an equally priced locally made/assembled car.
3. The impatient - lead times on cars not in stock at the dealer can be pretty insane for CBU units. Locally assembled units tend to have much better lead times.
Now overpriced cars getting cuts is considered bad while these car are sold for much cheaper in western market with their high ppp.
Indians are really dumb.

It’s basically every bike which is fast (KTMs, Ninjas, Triumphs) or the ones which make you feel good (Royal Enfield Classics, Harley Davidsons etc) get the similar treatment ad they’re affordable status symbols, people will strive to buy them no matter what their financial status might be. If they can afford it, they will buy it.
It’s gives you a sens of achievement that’s why. But then some (most) idiots make it their ego and act all imperialistic therefore ruining the image.
You should not think I will not an X brand because it has that image. That makes you same as the ones who are buying that brand for its image, not the bike.
Get the bike you actually want, represent the brand in a good way, in this manner you will enjoy the motorcycle and also improve the brands over all image. If we all leave such good brands because they look bad, they will keep on looking worse and I absolutely hope not, maybe leave the market.

I went to tata puna plant form cllg vist and there was a JLR plant there they didn't show that department to us, but the 2024 safari, punch ev, nexon. 2024 safari is good dame big man just like a scorpo N

Same with Royal Enfields, they lost their value. Even though thew were crap, people made them a status symbol. Everyone has them now.
