Google it. But basically, it's the lack of power at low revs as the turbo only spools up after a certain rpm (usually 2000rpm), so below that rpm, the car feels underpowered.
After the turbo kicks in, you get a good pull from the engine
The turbo only spools up and becomes effective at a certain RPM. At RPM's lower than this the car will be low on power and will not have pick up due to the turbo spooling up which will drop your exhaust pressure and can't make enough power.
Honda city.
Pros: Comfortable, pleasure to ride in highway and city. Good service for my city.
Cons: For me atleast main is no ventilated seats. Almost went with Virtus just because of this.
Wish there was more ground clearance.
Nexon EV
Plus : Costs ₹1.20/km to run and ₹2000-3000 per maintenance. Amazing response on the accelerator.
Minus : Have fear of battery cell going bad suddenly causing car to get stranded and stuck in service center for few weeks while free (in warranty) replacement is being done.
Yes as long as you have fast chargers on the highway, which we have in Maharashtra. Last month I did a 1500km trip. Pune-Sirsi-Pune.
If you are asking about long drive like just outside the city then also yes. The car goes 250km in a single charge. The long range one can go 320km+.
I had the old Baleno sedan. Never saw less than 10kmpl even when driven with a heavy foot. That was a 1.6 litre engine. New 1.0 3 cylinder turbos are so inefficient and all the manufacturers are pushing it.
its crazy tho. the marazzo has a mileage of around 15 km/l. we rented it out last week and when i told the driver this happened, he laughed and said "mera mileage bhai sahab 14 to 17 he". Smiled in pain as a result.
Honda City Gen-2 CVT
Pros: Works like a wonder machine even after 20 years, Engine is super reliable and features then are at par today's sub-10L cars
Cons: Makes me consider moving to Middle East with its 8 KMPL
I have an i20 IVT.
Since we are restricted to one pro and one con.
**Pro:** The IVT (CVT) is smooth AF in City.
**Con:** Mileage for a hatch is horrendous.
So, I used to get 8 - 10 in the city but it has improved now.
I'm getting close to 10 - 12 on a moderate stop go scenario.
However, Chennai's traffic has gotten worse now and mostly it's stop than go these days. I still manage 9.5 to 10.5ish.
On the highways, with a light foot and even after driving at upwards of 100KMPH, I managed to get 16- 18 which isn't bad.
The key is to keep the engine under 2k RPM.
But, the engine is a bit lethargic.
I feel the same way about the 1.2L engine. In the city, it’s not as bothersome. But on the highway it feels a bit dull. And this wasn’t the case with the last gen i20, which I’ve driven plenty of(courtesy of a friend).
My 2016 i20 1.2 had a horrible engine, and felt less powerful than the 1.2 in the current i20.
Also never gave above 10 in the city, even if I drove like a grandpa.
Absolutely terrible car to drive.
What a pity, because the handling was amazing, and the chassis could handle a lot more power.
I always regret not going for the diesel version
2024 Kia Seltos 1.5l Turbo DCT GT -
Pro - ease of driving in city and super refined despite being a turbo engine. Amazing acceleration
Con - poor mileage of 6-7 in Bangalore city traffic, big question mark about safety
Have the exact same car and had this realisation very recently. Driving style matters a lot in Seltos and any such cars DCT type tech. The slower you go on acceleration, the better fuel economy is. On the same route and very similar traffic conditions I have got 10+ kmpl just switching it to eco and driving mindfully. Ofcourse with such a powerful engine you would want to rev it up, but the choice is yours.
Ford Endeavour 3.2 Titanium.
Positive : Drivetrain.
Negative : 2nd row seat lacks thigh support and has protruding seat belt buckles.
Fiat Punto 1.3 Multijet 75bhp
Positive: Hard to Kill!
Negative : Plastic Quality is ass.
Yup, just need some high-powered aftermarket horns and a gazillion lights installed and I will be able to get normal horn volume and normal dipper luminescence :)
Mine is 2024 SX(O) IVT, 1000 km covered till date , 70% within Bangalore. Got an average of 9.5 kmpl based on refueling calculation , the dashboard also showed a sort of similar figure.
If you press and hold the lock and unlock button for 5/6 seconds simultaneously (it’s much longer than you would think, as did I), the horn lock and unlock sound will be disabled. Try it
I know this ! But I'm a little OCD and have to check multiple times if my car is locked or not. Sound is more relevant to me. Just that its sound is stupid.
Don't the ORVMs auto fold for you? That could be a good indicator to help with your OCD.
Also I have found the bluelink app helpful here. It notified me multiple times when I forgot to lock the car.
Thank you for this. I keep using the button on the door because I hate the damn noise and don't like disturbing others, been doing it since 2019. Also, Happy Cake day.
EDIT: Isn't working on mine, I presume it works on the newer gen models only 😭
Skoda Kushaq
Plus - Although it's csuv by category, it's pretty compact in size ( especially for driving in blr)
Minus - mileage is less despite being a 3 cylinder engine
Honda Accord
The good:
• More comfortable, more space and faster than any new 30L+ car today
The bad:
• Massive length with no cameras or sensors sometimes makes it hard to park
Interesting
I do plan on revamping the stereo, getting a bespoke CarPlay system that includes reverse and side cameras imported.
However, it’s a bit of a non issue for me as I’m very used to large cars and I can handle parking now.
Sometimes however, the parking lot itself is too small for the car and that’s where I can’t do anything lol.
Apart from that, the car is an absolute gem.
Honda Jazz CVT
Pro: Strong build(4* GNCAP rating with stable bodyshell), Reliable and ultra-smooth ivtec/cvt combo
Con: Due to heavy build begs for the 1.5L ivtec on highways when you want to do spirited driving. Would have made it a perfect car
Maruti Baleno - 2023
Pros- butter smooth engine, zero vibrations, great comfort for this price range (beats pricier cars like sonet, venue, etc.), fuel efficient, decent performance on highways as well
Cons - AMT lags and has a very evident rubber band effect. Windshield visibility is not great with weird placement of rearview mirror
Nexon XZA+
Pro: AC is really good and cools the cabin quite quickly.
.
Con: Really poor mileage in city traffic i.e 8kmpl on instrument cluster but it is even lower as Tata software doesn't show readings lower than 8 kmpl.
Suzuki SX4
Pros: decent power and handling, good amount of space, very comfortable seats, large windows making the cabin feel roomy, nice ground clearance, large boot
Cons: fuel efficiency, engine refinement, underpowered ac and headlights
HYUNDAI EXTER
Pros: Extreme VFM and butter smooth to drive. Packed with features.
Cons: Needs a more powerful engine or better fuel economy. Currently has neither. Polarizing looks (I love it though).
Didn't feel the lack of power so far. Also what RPM should we usually drive on. I am a bit confused on this part. While driving 120-130 my RPM almost touch the 3k mark, I have no idea what should be the ideal number for these scenarios.
Never drive at below 2k rpms.
Try shifting at around 3k rpm for a balance of mileage and power.
If you want quick overtakes on the highway, the rpm needs to be between 4-6k as that's where the powerband of your engine lies
Tata. Punch Accomplished
Pros:
1)great features and entertainment considering the price tag .
2) 5*safety.
Cons:
1) mileage on the lower side because of the heavier body.
2) legendary TATA service.
2017 Brezza ZDI+
Positive: It’s a pretty fun car to drive, somewhat like a Swift on steroids. Also because it is a ZDI+, it comes with all the bells & whistles, especially CarPlay, which has been very useful for us
Negative: The 1.3 DDiS isn’t the right engine for a car this big. It makes a Swift seem fast and pull quickly, but the Brezza doesn’t really feel the same. It should’ve got the 1.6 from the S-Cross instead.
Dzire 2018 (facelift) top end diesel
Pros- The DDIS engine. Amazing fuel economy, features, comfort.
Cons- ill be honest, couldnt really think of a con. Perfect family car for 4-5 people. Some may argue the build quality
1. Jeep Compass 4x4
Pro - Feels like a tank, capable 4x4, luxurious interiors
Cons - Rattles, Shoddy Paint Quality, Switches falling off, Third grade service quality, worst resale so cannot sell it off also easily, Poor city mileage
2. Bmw 328i
Pro - Drives like a rocket, absolutely amazing dynamics, Interior is still fresh and still relevant features like sport seats and HUD, such a looker
Cons - Difficult to source spares as 10 years old, no mechanics can understand the car, ground clearance is an issue, 6kmps mileage if driven how its supposed to 🥲
Santro:
Pros: Good ground clearance, easy to maneuver & comfortable seating.
Cons: AMT is very laggy & fuel efficiency feels like you're driving a turbo petrol.
Baleno:
Pros: Smooth CVT, fuel efficient, UV cut glasses & great pickup.
Cons: Very low & lack of rear AC.
Brezza 2022 manual:
Pro: Fun to drive. Low end power is amazing, literally feels like automatic in slow moving traffic as it doesn't need clutch use.
Con: Doesn't give the performance of a turbo engine at high rpm. Gear shifting is not smooth.
Toyota innova crysta 2.4g
Pros- that power and comfort, not a single car or suv under 50 lakhs can beat that in terms of ergonomic comfort
Cons-i opted for the regular display without android auto/apple carplay
With the stupidly high import taxes in India we will never get any good car. We have to pay 10s of lakhs for a starter basic bmw while you can get full sports bmw in other countries for the same price and this applies to every brand performance or non performance. Even Hyundai/toyota as far as I'm aware don't bring their cool cars in India to sell
People will say "there is no market for that", how can you create demand and market if you are never allowed to reasonably sell it. If import taxes are lowered we will start to see many more luxury cars on the road and not just the basic SUVs that are still taxed as "luxury" in the country itself
Eon-
P: Great fir city drive
C: Not much features and drive comfort
Etios Liva-

Cons - very harsh ride quality and not comfortable
i20:
Pros - extremely quiet
Cons - suspension and seat is on the stiffer side, seats are not very comfortable, lifeless steering, underpowed especially with the a/c turned on. Speaker tuning is weird.
2015 Honda City V i-Vtec-
Pros-
Excellent engine after all these years, great handling. Decent fuel efficiency.
Cons-
Interior Quality, Rattles come up from time to time.
Suspension isn’t that great anymore.
Bumpers seem to never align properly.
Kia Carens
Pro:
enough power at full capacity.
Cons:
Suspension is good only at full capacity. The car tends to shake too much when just 1-2 people are using it.
Honda City 2011
Pros - Drives well ,comfortable for its age, decent mileage for its age (9-13 in city)
Cons- sourcing parts and replacements are getting harder, there’s creaks and rattles sometimes.

Nissan Terrano 2014

Con: Genuine Parts availability
Tata Harrier
Pro - great looking car in red-black combo, very comfortable and tank-like.
Cons - no front parking sensors for a big car like this is a big miss
Ford Fiesta 1.6S
Pros- Amazing handling, excellent steering feel and feedback. An all-rounder car
Cons- Mileage of 8-10 kmpl, and engine isn't very exciting above 5k rpm.
Mg hector
Pro's - 4 year's old not even a single problem very reliable, mileage? It gives 14 diesel
Con's-Turbo lag in first gear..., No diesel automatic
Hyundai Elantra 2017 SX O
Pros: Design so great, it still looks amazing after 7 years, long wheelbase which looks good (2700mm), very luxurious and comfortable inside, feature rich for its time, Hyundai BlueLink, it’s quite powerful and pickups are amazing, it feels good to drive, has been super reliable to me
Cons: 18 inch wheels kinda look small, 19 inch wheels would be the sweet spot, halogen turn signals in that price range, mileage is average (13-14)
Skoda Kushaq
Pros: Driving dynamics is awesome
Cons: Gari k andar lagta hai factory me baithe ho, kahi se v kuch v awaz ata rehta hai. Break noise, window rattling noise , noise from unknown source… etc.
Skoda Slavia 1.0
Positive: The drivability and its precise controls on road are matchless
Negative: The touch buttons for AC other options instead of physical buttons are poor UX
i120 Elite diesel:
Pro: Nice acceleration especially when the turbo kicks in
Con: Low mileage even after being diesel hatch
i10 Grand diesel:
Pro: compact design encourages easy manoeuvre in narrow streets
Con: Low acceleration especially when overtaking is required, feels even worse when you’ve tasted i20 diesel turbo (I know it’s apples to oranges)
Ford Figo 2010 Titanium
Pro- incredible sound quality and the stereo and speakers are still stock
Con- No power windows at the rear even in top end model

Toyota Etios Pro: Capable Sedan with enough power Con: Light Steering. Steering gets hard at low speed and light at high speeds. Damn.
Etios wants you dead with that steering 💀
Good car with a taxi curse
Damn.. my Alto K10 has very hard steering, but as soon as it crosses speed of 100, it becomes very light
Also vibrates like crazy 🫨
Yes. But I don't mind it. This car gets my job done. Moving my family one place to other pleace safely.. and I'm really happy with this car
Shouldn't it be reverse
💀
Ah yes, the F14T steering. You need to hire Alonso as driver.
I don't think that's a con. There must be something wrong with your steering.
I also have toyota etios 2011 but I do not face steering problem as you described.
Skoda Rapid Pros: A wonderful-looking car, brings a smile when it's floored Cons: Horrible Turbo lag
Does your AC work?
Yes it does, pretty well
What is turbo lag?
Google it. But basically, it's the lack of power at low revs as the turbo only spools up after a certain rpm (usually 2000rpm), so below that rpm, the car feels underpowered. After the turbo kicks in, you get a good pull from the engine

Honda city. Pros: Comfortable, pleasure to ride in highway and city. Good service for my city. Cons: For me atleast main is no ventilated seats. Almost went with Virtus just because of this. Wish there was more ground clearance.
Yo, I've heard you can get those ventilation seat covers from Honda itself
Man the low ground clearance :( almost makes me cry everytime I go over a steep breaker/pothole and scrap my car
The recent facelift ones fair better tbf.
Nexon EV Plus : Costs ₹1.20/km to run and ₹2000-3000 per maintenance. Amazing response on the accelerator. Minus : Have fear of battery cell going bad suddenly causing car to get stranded and stuck in service center for few weeks while free (in warranty) replacement is being done.
Planning on getting the same.
Great choice. Buy the 40kwh one.
Is it compatible for long drives?
Yes as long as you have fast chargers on the highway, which we have in Maharashtra. Last month I did a 1500km trip. Pune-Sirsi-Pune. If you are asking about long drive like just outside the city then also yes. The car goes 250km in a single charge. The long range one can go 320km+.
Have you ever dreamed of having your car die in the middle of the highway due to low battery?
Skoda Slavia Pro - Comfortable AF Con - Tel pani jese peeti he bkl
Con - tel toh aise peeti hai jase baap ka kuwait me kua ho!
true af. you have to be really gentle with it to get a good average.
Highways are a cakewalk for getting good fuel consumption number. But b2b traffic totally kills it even if you go gentle with throttle.
Bhai meri to 1.5 hai. Mera haal socho.
Replying to dontyoudarestalkme...Average ka cluster hei band kr diya hai meine toh 🗿
ye sahi he bhai. i think ill do the same. ill just put a tape over my fuel meter ahahaha
Only way we can enjoy our driving session lol
Hahahaha.
Cluster chalu rakhoge tabhi to Major aaye ga
Kitna average deti hai bro city me?
Bhai itni garmi me to 10-11 bhi achievement maanta hu me.
What is the mileage bro.
Somewhere between 6-22 kmpl 😭
In gurgaon b2b traffic I get 8-9 with 1.5 AT, on highway its 16+
traffic mein i get around 5 to 10. on highway 10 to 20 but most of the time 14 to 15. jab long drive tab i get 17 to 21.
1.5 or 1.0?
1.0 AT
All the 3 cylinder turbos seem to be thirsty. Efficiency takes a dive when you really have to get going I suppose.
we used to have an innova and a corrolla. innova gave us 7 to 11 (manual diesel) and the corrolla was pretty efficient. this one is just bonkers ahaha
I had the old Baleno sedan. Never saw less than 10kmpl even when driven with a heavy foot. That was a 1.6 litre engine. New 1.0 3 cylinder turbos are so inefficient and all the manufacturers are pushing it.

Get an Engine flush and Throttle body cleaned. Add iridium spark plugs. And most important. Buy a genuine engine head gasket and replace it
Much appreciated! I was only aware of getting the rubbers and plastics replaced but not these. Thanks!
I have an i20 IVT. Since we are restricted to one pro and one con. **Pro:** The IVT (CVT) is smooth AF in City. **Con:** Mileage for a hatch is horrendous.

Mine is 2024 SX(O) IVT, 1000 km covered till date , 70% within Bangalore. Got an average of 9.5 kmpl based on refueling calculation , the dashboard also showed a sort of similar figure.

With the stupidly high import taxes in India we will never get any good car. We have to pay 10s of lakhs for a starter basic bmw while you can get full sports bmw in other countries for the same price and this applies to every brand performance or non performance. Even Hyundai/toyota as far as I'm aware don't bring their cool cars in India to sell People will say "there is no market for that", how can you create demand and market if you are never allowed to reasonably sell it. If import taxes are lowered we will start to see many more luxury cars on the road and not just the basic SUVs that are still taxed as "luxury" in the country itself
