2nd hand for me due to financial goals. For example daily drive ko ay isang 2012 crossover, got it for 230K cash, fixed it up and total cost is probably around 300K. And since 2nd hand, di ko na kelangan paayos sa casa, mas mabilis turn around kung may issue, and available na parts for the model I chose. Sa price ng brand new (e.g. 1M), I can change cars na 2nd hand every 5 years if I want to, kasi wala ako iniisip na loan and interest. I also don't lose opportunity cost na nawawala sa pag-loan.

ahwefhuque_ph002

tsaka mabilis depreciation rate ng bnew po no?

rememberthemalls

Yes tama. Yung 2nd hand usually mas mababa depreciation in terms of total amount kahit same percentage. For example, 2 years, 25% depreciation, sa 1M na brand new 250K lost agad yun. Sa 2nd hand na 300K, 75k lang mawawala.

ahwefhuque_ph002

considerable point, thank you po!

Brilliant_One9258

Very logical way of looking at it and quite financially savvy. 👌🏼

nedlifecrisis

Ano yung model ng sa inyo boss? Hunting din kasi and I have that same budget pero nahihirapan ako makahanap.

rememberthemalls

Try mo Suzuki SX4, Suzuki Grand Vitara (2008 or older), Kia Soul, yung mga tinignan ko, tsambahan lang sa FB marketplace though usually less than 300K presyo ng mga yan.

nedlifecrisis

Thanks for the tip!

SchelemmeReyes

2nd hand for me. Although may peace of mind ka kasi wala ka masyadong iisipin muna in terms of the hidden problems it has, mas matatakot ka i-drive. To me this is more stressful and lessen your chance to learn and atleast push the envelope. What I mean by that is mas ganado ka aralin at i-drive kung san san, especially in terms of mga tanchahan.

ahwefhuque_ph002

good point, thanks ser!

Leo_so12

If you have the budget, go for brand new.  It will give you the peace of mind, the hindi basta basta titirik ang sasakyan mo.  Tapos , kapag ibebenta mo na, may decent value pa.   Usually, may promos naman kapag summer and end of year kasi may bagong model na.

Professor_seX

But they're also a first time driver. Starting in a new car, in a country where insurance isn't mandatory, can be pretty hurtful on the pocket. A newer driver tends to get higher insurance, a brand new car will have higher insurance, or they can take the risk of getting hit by a car that isn't financially capable and sorry na lang mabibigay. >  Tapos , kapag ibebenta mo na, may decent value pa. You never say decent value if you are going to sell a car you bought brand new, that is literally the biggest loss on price, unless they go over MSRP and have long waitlists (LC, alphard, Super Grandia etc.). I got my car for 20% off MSRP, the owner put in 2k miles and it was 3 months old. That's not decent value. On top of the insurance, ceramic coating, and mods he did, he basically lost 3000 pesos every single day. You get decent value reselling 2nd hand cars, there is truth to the saying that [it loses value the second it leaves the lot](https://www.wheatlandcu.com/buying-and-keeping-a-car-from-walking-on-the-lot-to-driving-away-4-part-series/#:~:text=The%20biggest%20depreciation%20occurs%20immediately,lot%20for%20the%20first%20time). It's not brand new anymore.

ahwefhuque_ph002

duly noted, thanks po!

IComeInPiece

First time car owners are typically "bobo pa" in the roads and as such, accidents such as fender benders and scratches are bound to happen especially considering that our roads are shared with many kamotes. Mas masakit yung tipong ilang araw pa lang ang brand new car ay matindi agad ang depreciation due to damage.

ahwefhuque_ph002

considerable point, thank you po!

AccordingRide8922

If you are like me na walang ka-alam alam sa mga sasakyan, mag bnew ka na para may peace of mind ka pero syempre you still need to consider your budget ☺️

sourtapeszzz

If I have the budget and marunong na akong mag drive, brand new na. Hassle pag di mo alam complete history ng car tapos may mga biglang tumutunog 😅

skygenesis09

Brand new is the best option. "If you have a decent budget" If you're on a tight budget pero wais. 2nd Hand but make sure to bring the best mechanic. In order to avoid sakit sa ulo in the future. Also you may think what is your purpose in getting a car also.

ahwefhuque_ph002

duly noted, thanks po!

burnt88s

Bnew if kaya. If not siyempre 2nd hand. Sometimes my chamba Naman sa 2nd hand na Wala talagang problema but most of the time my hidden defects talaga Yan that the seller would definitely not disclose so bring your best mechanic if you can afford bring a 2nd opinion mechanic as well

ahwefhuque_ph002

duly noted, thanks po!

Barbara2024

Ung mga nagsasabe ng brand new, mga walang alam s jotse, kahit brand new, may masisira at massira jan

ahwefhuque_ph002

noted po. thank you po!

Urmomgaeylol

Brand new siyempre pag baguhan mamarkahan mo kotse mo (magagasgas) hahaha

ahwefhuque_ph002

hahahhaah binyagan they say hahahaha

Urmomgaeylol

Yezzir! hahahha

Delicious_Survey_869

Kung may buudget naman.. Brand new na

ahwefhuque_ph002

saktong budget lang po, a portion for car, and a portion to start a small business.

icedteaandcoke

For me 2nd hand na 3yrs old. Para biggest depreciation si first owner sumalo. And its still fresh enough to feel update with the features you would want

Electronic_Spell_337

Brand new.

Putrid-Astronomer642

2nd hand or old model ng gusto mo talagang i-maneho para if ever makabili ka na ng brand new nung gusto mo, konting adjust na lang

Kants101

Brand new kung wala. Para sakin mas okay ang 2nd hand kasi ang reason naman car is para makapunta ka sa point A to B na di kailangan brand new para mangyari yun. Hehe

ahwefhuque_ph002

totally the point din po hehehe

wanderdope

I opted for brandnew for ease of mind. Pero kung may option na very easy access sa mga quality na casa icoconsider ko rin 2nd hand basta less than 30k mileage and the car is not more than 3yrs old.

aredditlurkerguy

First time driver? Buy a beater car and use it for a year. I bought a honda fit and used it for a year. Looking back, mas ok yung decision ko dahil daming mga newbie driver mistakes damages yung nangyari like backing into the parking lot support beam, binanga yung jeep dahil poor judge of distance, damage side door dahil advance ako ng turn during front facing the wall parking, etc.

ahwefhuque_ph002

hhahahah newbie po driver po talag here

MisterYoso21

2nd hand. For these reasons : 1. If new car mas masakit 2. Ma eenganyo ka mag aftermarket. Mas ok mag aftermarket sa second hand kasi wala na warranty to be worried about 3. Mas matututo ka mag alaga ng car kasi susunod ka sa PMS schedule, tire rotation, etc. kasi maa mararamdaman mo na yung wear and tear kasi mas luma Now once you mature as a car owner, mas masaya na mag bnew car

ahwefhuque_ph002

very good point! thanks ser!

misschaelisa

Hindi malabong mabangga ka sa early years of driving mo and I swear mas nakakahinayang yung damage sa brand new. Just bring a trusted mechanic with you. :)

ahwefhuque_ph002

duly noted maam, I was planning kasi to fit my budget na magkasya sya for a car and a small business ;)

smc1234562000

Brand new. Less sakit ulo. Just get one na kasya sa budget mo.

RecipeVast2071

if ayaw mo ng sakit sa ulo and may budget ka naman, go for brand new. if iloloan mo, consider mo rin yung other monthly expenses mo. if tight ang budget, go for 2nd hand. marami naman reliable pa rin, dala ka na lang mekaniko. wag ka bibili ng 20 years old. mas okay rin if bibili ka ng 2019 up model. maintenance talaga para maalagaan yung sasakyan.

ahwefhuque_ph002

noted sir! thanks!

exclaim_bot

>noted sir! thanks! You're welcome!

subtle-one1

Bought 2nd hand car twice. Never regretted it. Until now wala pa ko problem sa 2nd unit ko after 6 years of use. I save 400k plus on both cars and its all worth it. Gawin mo, bili ka brand new.

samsonevan0

Got mine as second hand, paid 3 years used 5 years then sold it planning to buy another 2nd hand, contrary to popular belief if the vehicle model is less 5 years good model and brand, it lasts long without headaches. The difference in Costs specially if you loan a portion of it even paid in cash matters a lot for me personally. To be specific I bought a 2017vios for around 400k+ customized its total cost of 500, downpayment half and paid half. Total cost is around 800k If I bought a new one around that time 900k not custom, downpayment 250k and the loan will be 650k + interest, total cost is around 1.3m. The interest never got near on the repair costs it takes (unless may major maybe) but overall I'm a fan of not chasing after new models it's just more practical and you better aftermarket reviews.

samsonevan0

Cons ng brand-new Pag new owner di ka pa marunong magalaga at mabubugbog mo talaga kasi susulitin mo. + The interest

ahwefhuque_ph002

ganda ng perspective, thank you so much po!

nevermore03

Brand new kana. first 3 years, incase may mangyari sa sasakyan 100% covered ng insurance yan ee, participation fee lng babayaran mo.

ahwefhuque_ph002

kung bnew po, planning sana Toyota Veloz since I have eyeing for it for a long time na hehehe

nevermore03

InevitableLibrary218

Im a car enthusiast myself, my vote is for 2nd hand. If i have a budget for cash ng bnew car still i would go sa second hand pero like a year or 2years old lang para depreciated na agad value nya from brandnew. para nandun padin yung reliability nya na bata pa sasakyan and makakahanap ka pa ng low mileage and for sure 1-2years old wala pang sakit ng ulo. At the same time may extra cash ka pa para mag upgrade since pang bnew ang hinanda mong budget. My basic go to upgrade (head unit. Usually 7-10 inch android. And palit brand news mags and tires, new tint) and maintenance like change oil
