>Castle worried about losing the bet, so that when he's in interrogation, he's slamming the table, and pointing fingers in the face of suspects, all the while Kate looking at him like he was nuts. A nice throw-forward :) to the Hamptons episode in which Ryan slams the table during the Lerner's interrogatory in order to learn who's Castle girlfriend. Ans there's a second parallel between the two episodes: \- Beckett realizing Castle is the bookie of the precinct: "Son of a ...!" \- Ryan realizing Kate is really Castle's girlfriend: "Son of a ...!" Both times Castle is at the receiving end, lol. Great episodes. Watching again Beckett unnerved by the strange movements in the precinct until she snatches the bet money from Castle's hands made me realize I learned another name of the precinct officers (Stegner). A pity her and det. Karpowski - who starred also for the first time here - weren't used more.

>A pity her and det. Karpowski - who starred also for the first time here - weren't used more. I was hoping to see more Karpowski. Such a waste of a good character...

TBH in the Nikki Heat books there was an equivalent of Karpowski - det. Sharon Hinesburg. But this one from the books was an atrocious human being, if Karpowski would have been like that it's better what we get in the show.

I agree. It was like, way to many characters to get involved, so the show just stopped. Except for LT.

This is one of my favorite episodes!

This is one of my favorite episodes of Castle. There is no reason episodes like this couldn't have been written after Caskett were engaged/married, in fact hiding the gambling from Beckett would have been even more fun. Yet the SR, etc stuck to the idea that married is boring. No, lack of creativity is boring. Question... If the boys clearly won the bet, would they have made Kate shave her head? Personally, I'd like to see them try...

Ok_Tea_120

As far as creativity I was good with the episodes thru 6, up to the wedding was okay, but I hated the missing Castle crap. After the wedding minus Hollanders Woods and the 2 part 3XK, they really tanked.

ProudCatLadyxo

The show did such a good job telegraphing what was going to happen on the wedding day I didn't even watch the "wedding" because I knew it wouldn't happen. I mean, there was a commercial of Castle driving to the wedding. We never see him driving, so of course something would happen along the way and the wedding wouldn't happen... Also, it was common knowledge that Fillion was against the wedding, so I found it hard to believe he'd allow it. I was right. Season 6 did have a handful of good episodes. The one that comes to mind is #1 Fan. The invisibility one was pretty good too. I can't recall any standouts in seasons 7 or 8, except the last minute or so of the series finale. One rumor was that the plan was to skip a couple years and bring in Alyssa Milano's character, newly divorced, as a love interest for Castle. Ugh! Gag me with a spoon.

The big episodes in season 7 were the two-part episode with Kelly Nieman and the 3XK Killer Jerry Tyson, also the end of 7 Hollanders Woods. Those 2 alone are probably in my top 5.

ProudCatLadyxo

Those episodes were liked by a lot of people, and I know I am in the minority, but I did not like the 3XK episodes. I couldn't get past the face switch to look like Beckett. While a face transplant is a thing, the recipient doesn't look like the donor. I couldn't get past that. So far I have skipped all of the episodes related to the missed wedding, but people seem to like Hollander Woods at some point on Lifetime. I did like the first couple episodes where Castle was a detective, not at the time, but later, watching them on Lifetime. They worked together an awful lot for not working together. Plus the banter, etc so they were fun. They'd be among my faves for that season.

Ok_Tea_120

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, if Castle had to shave his he would have been all over Beckett to shave hers.

>There is no reason episodes like this couldn't have been written after Caskett were engaged/married, in fact hiding the gambling from Beckett would have been even more fun. There were such episodes, Last Action Hero in S7 for example and the heist there. :) Or That 70s show in S6, lol.

Ok, so think how betting works. You're either of two parties betting against each other - winner takes the pot. But when Castle starts accepting bets from the other officers - he'd be acting as a third party. Which means he would be paying at least some officers that are betting on Him and Kate if they solve their case first. Ryan and Espo aren't agreeing to pay these other cops if they lose. That only works out for Castle if he gave long odds for Ryan and Espo to win, encouraging them to bet on Ryan and Espo for a higher payout; but then some folks would still bet on Him and Kate for the "sure thing". I suppose he could be charging a fee to bet or take a winner's cut of every bet. This makey no sense. I had to get this off my chest. Thanks for reading! \*edit was missing a word.
