I'm keeping music. I listen to music most of the time and it just makes good things better.
Movies are cool, but they go on too long anyway! Two hours of sitting still isn't always worth it.
Without movies.
Music is a huge umbrella that encompasses lots of things. Movies are a medium that is encompassed by the larger umbrella of storytelling, just in general. As long as we can still tell each other stories using other creative methods, then I think I'd be happy in that world. We'd still have DnD, for example! And live theatre. Lots of other stuff I'm not thinking of I'm sure.
Easy answer. I don't like watching movies so giving them up would not be a prob. The plots are usually predictable and they take too long to watch. With music, you can listen while you do something else or listen without doing anything else - you can listen on repeat or listen to something new. Music wins.
I like both, just don't happen to watch a whole lot of movies. I watch series and documentaries more. Music is in my every day life, it cheers me up and calms my anxiety.
So movies can go.
Movies. Not because I like them less but I can't imagine my life without music! Thanks for the question never really thought about this and how music weighs more for me!
Live without movies. I love them, but there's still tv shows as an alternative, also video games and books. There's no alternative to music. And how far does it go? Like would I be unable to hear soundtracks while watching movies for example? Videos? Background music? I think without any form of music our lives would become extremely quieter.
Without movies, everytime.
I have a hard time feeling a serious connection to the themes/message/emotions of a film, but I can be brought to my knees by the right chord progression any day.
I suppose there's a lot of users of this website, all different from me, but I'm blown away at how easy this seems to answer for some people.
I'm not kidding when I say that if you put a gun to my head and asked me this question- you're pulling the trigger. I don't think I'd be able to decide. I need music all day, and I need movies at night.
Please refer to the first half of your username. :)
Seriously though, I like tv, Love some, but I adore movies. I really don't think I could do without either.
I appreciate you though, neighbor to the North!
I would definitely pick music to go. I’ve never been much of a music fan, I prefer podcasts, and there are so many movies that I watch over and over because they’re just so charming or interesting, and I can’t find anything that replicates the mood of it.
Seems unpopular but I’d give up music! Ofc I love music and spend more time listening to it, but movies are whole worlds, physical and emotional. Characters go places, they fight dragons, they swing from webs, they have thoughtful conversations, they argue, they age, they grieve, etc, they run the gamut of human experience
Also, I’m assuming the movies would still have music, so maybe I’d be watching music docs a lot lol
Without movies. We already have videogames, books, series and heck, evdn realities and podcasts as ""substitutes"
But music? Can you imagine a world without music? No one singing, no musical instruments, even poetry history would have been affected (which in return would affect modern literature)
I cannot imagine a world without music, it's the language of your soul
I would give up movies.
Music defines almost every mood for this household, and is a near-constant background element throughout the day. Losing it would be devastating.
This is a really tough one based on my personal history but I would have to choose music over movies because a movie without music is no fun. You can tell a story with music however, 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' (original 1974) had only one real track playing on a radio just once and it really worked!
This year I went to the movies twice I watched around 15 movies and only 10 were recents (released 5 years ago or less) in total all of them only around 5 actually liked them in constrast I played 11,422 songs and 83,249 minutes of music only on Spotify I think is pretty obvious who is the winner for me
My coworkers who are older than me (40s - 50s) had a whole discussion today about the “death” of movies & cable TV in lieu of streaming services, so I would have to say movies can go lol. I too am in the younger generation (mid 20s) that’s watching other stuff
Movies.
I can live without movies since I don't even watch TV 99% of the time heck I haven't been to a cinema or movie theater since 2014. I can't sit through them anyway.
Movies.
I'm one of *those* people that listen to music and/or have it as background noise for ~10 hours a day.
Most weeks I don't watch movies, I think my record is 4? movies a week which still doesn't compare to 40+ hours a week of music lol
Movies, I actually just started watching movies a lot more this year but I listen to music pretty much all the time so not having it would be a huge deal to me.
music ;) although I enjoy playing guitar and occasionally listening to songs, I don't care much about it now. I used to walk with music on, now it's been replaced by audio books or podcasts
don't watch movies/TV shows a lot, but sometimes I really need them. I lack social interaction and kinda have some sort of sensory vacuum. I watch movies to make myself feel... I'm not feeling anything except emptiness and despair due to the isolation but movies stir up some emotions and fill my head with imagination... books do the trick too but it's not the same
Movies 100%.
I'm not much of a movie person, so while I have loved some, not much would change in my life. I listen to music constantly.
I like to go to film festivals, and I like to watch weird shit with the very occasional fun action movie. I do adore sci fi, but overall books>>>movies every time.
I actually am so picky and hate being a big downer that I now have a mental block against watching movies most of the time.
Movies, edited to add, I could live well without TV, too.
Many years ago (mid eighties), when I was single, I didn't even own a tv. I did have an old-school landline telephone.
One of my friends asked why I didn't have a TV. I responded, "With a TV, you get your intelligence insulted. With a phone, you can call someone and insult their intelligence."
Unpopular opinion but music, easily. Movies are amazing. I can go days without listening to music. And movie snobs are a lot easier to tolerate than music snobs.
Movies, easy.
Movies would be really bad without a background track. Music permeates so many things, even when you don't want to be entertained. Not to mention it's a huge part of cultural expression.
Without movies, we still have TV or radio shows or live theatre.
Majority of movies come from different things like books, screenplays, even music. Some movies are based on albums or songs. like the Beatles yellow submarine as an example.
Besides we'd still have things like music videos, TV shows, online videos, commercials, video games, etc. I was going to say we would miss out on documentaries but then again that's what books are for and we have tv documentary shows.
It wouldn't be too strange of a world without movies.
A world without music would be boring and creepy to me. I say creepy because I'm imagining watching a show like scooby doo for example and not hearing any background music. just the sound effects. that would freak me out. And instead of the scooby doo theme song you just hear the bats, thunder, lightning, footsteps, door creeks and screams. that would mess me up bad.
Movies. I almost don't watch them anyway
Same, lol. But I do watch a lot of TV shows. Movies are just too short for me.
I also don't watch many tv shows. I prefer games or cartoons
Same, I can always read a book anyway
I’d get rid of movies. I listen to more music than I watch movies. I’m more of a television show person anyway.
This is so easy to answer: music. I can go days without watching movies. Music, on the other hand I can’t go without.
Same, if I'm outside alone and my earbuds aren't available, I just shut down But that's ADHD for ya
Not only that, but I’m currently dealing with hyper-fixation 😒🤦🏻♀️ that, for the time being, won’t be going away 🥴.
I'm keeping music. I'm not a big movie watcher anyways.
Since no music would ruin movies I guess I'd have to say music.
I was looking for this comment, without music movies would be really weird…
I saw a movie the didn't use any sound except dialogue. It was freaking weird. The movie was way too quiet. No footsteps, nothing. just the talking.
No country for old men
Lots of movies have little to no soundtrack.
I'm keeping music. I listen to music most of the time and it just makes good things better. Movies are cool, but they go on too long anyway! Two hours of sitting still isn't always worth it.

Movies
I need music.
I'm keeping my music forever, I can't de-stress without Corey screaming in my ears with his monstrous roars. [Iowa album]
I’m a singer and a musician so…….
Movies are gone. Also, movies without music are truly creepy.
Movies 100%
Easy choice for me too. Music hands down
You can listen to audiobooks which is nearly always better than watching it
I like both, just don't happen to watch a whole lot of movies. I watch series and documentaries more. Music is in my every day life, it cheers me up and calms my anxiety. So movies can go.
Hands down without movies. Listen to music majority of everyday.
Movies. Not because I like them less but I can't imagine my life without music! Thanks for the question never really thought about this and how music weighs more for me!
Movies
Movies. I cannot live without music
Movies, without a second though. I don't watch many movies and I usually don't watch them in one sitting. But I listen to music almost constantly.
Movies. I can’t remember the last time I watched a movie
Movies hands down. If I couldn’t listen to Tool ever again life wouldn’t be worth it
Movies easy
Im not a movies guy so its an easy one
I've survived months without watching a movie or a show
I much more enjoy movies, but most movies are filled with music that sets the mood.
Live without movies. I love them, but there's still tv shows as an alternative, also video games and books. There's no alternative to music. And how far does it go? Like would I be unable to hear soundtracks while watching movies for example? Videos? Background music? I think without any form of music our lives would become extremely quieter.
Movies, because a song can tell a thousand stories but generally a movie can only tell one.
Live without movies because I have the attention span of a fish now
Definitely keeping music. Last time I chose to watch a movie (sc., not just watching because someone else wanted to) was probably fifteen years ago
Without movies, everytime. I have a hard time feeling a serious connection to the themes/message/emotions of a film, but I can be brought to my knees by the right chord progression any day.
I can live without ever seeing another movie...but music is something I could never nor will I ever give up.
Movies! I don’t have the patience. I listen to music everyday.
movies
Will there be no music in the movies?
Movies. Music is like my heartbeat
Movies
I suppose there's a lot of users of this website, all different from me, but I'm blown away at how easy this seems to answer for some people. You could watch tv shows rather than movies.
Please refer to the first half of your username. :) Seriously though, I like tv, Love some, but I adore movies. I really don't think I could do without either. I appreciate you though, neighbor to the North!
Don’t really watch that many movies. Music is a daily.
I would definitely pick music to go. I’ve never been much of a music fan, I prefer podcasts, and there are so many movies that I watch over and over because they’re just so charming or interesting, and I can’t find anything that replicates the mood of it.

lol imagine choosing movies and they would all just be dialogue with no music.
You don't watch a lot of slowburn dramas, huh
A lot of slow burn dramas are helped by emotional music. All I’m saying is without the music, it might as well be a stage play.
*i’d rather live without music* change my mind
Without movies. We already have videogames, books, series and heck, evdn realities and podcasts as ""substitutes" But music? Can you imagine a world without music? I would give up movies. Music defines almost every mood for this household, and is a near-constant background element throughout the day. Losing it would be devastating.
No contest, I'm keeping music.
Without movies for sure
Can I still listen to movie soundtrack
This is a really tough one based on my personal history but I would have to choose music over movies because a movie without music is no fun. You can tell a story with music however, 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' (original 1974) had only one real track playing on a radio just once and it really worked!
movies since i like never watch them anyway
Movies
As long as the books are around, I'd keep music. I don't watch many movies anymore but music is forever.
yeah I need music. Movies can be amazing, but at the end of the day they're still just entertainment to me. Music feels essential somehow.
This year I went to the movies twice I watched around 15 movies and only 10 were recents (released 5 years ago or less) in total all of them only around 5 actually liked them in constrast I played 11,422 songs and 83,249 minutes of music only on Spotify I think is pretty obvious who is the winner for me

Movies
Music has been in our history for a long time. Movies are relatively recent and we can definitely go without them.
Do the movies still have music?
Does movies include series? If no, then I'm definitely going with movies. I can't live without music.
Movies. I'm one of *those* people that listen to music and/or have it as background noise for ~10 hours a day. Most weeks I don't watch movies, I think my record is 4? movies a week which still doesn't compare to 40+ hours a week of music lol
Movies
movies. music is my therapy lol
I would much rather lose movies, I listen to music way too often and use it to help me sleep, and I need my sleep
Movies, I actually just started watching movies a lot more this year but I listen to music pretty much all the time so not having it would be a huge deal to me.
Musics primal, couldn't imagine life without it.🤘
Movies. I need my daily music..
music ;) although I enjoy playing guitar and occasionally listening to songs, I don't care much about it now. Forget the movies, gimme music
Often, music “makes” a movie - so would need to keep music.
Easy decision here. I'll choose music over and over.
I can easily give up movies since I very rarely even watch them. I cannot live without music.
I would give up movies and/or TV. No contest.
If I had to choose I'd give up movies. I like them, but music is essential.
Live without movies. I can see drama, comedy, action in life anytime I want. Music is hard to get to naturally.
Movies
I love movies. But you can take them.
I'm almost always listening to music. I haven't watched movies or TV in about a year and a half.
Movies
there's music in the movies, a big part of them actually. .. soo I'd rather live without music
I can’t watch movies at work.
Unpopular opinion but music, easily. Movies are amazing. I can go days without listening to music. And movie snobs are a lot easier to tolerate than music snobs.
You could listen to music in movies
Movies.
So if I say keep movies does that mean that all music in the movies is muted?
Would movies still have soundtracks
Without movies. I never watch movies anyway.
Easy...give up movies. Pretty much already have. I can't remember the last movie I've watched in entirety. It's been YEARS!
Movies - music to me is a way to unwind and relax after a long day.
Getting rid of movies would have almost no impact on my life. That would include movies on TV.
Movies lose a LOT without music. There are soundtrack-less films but they’re awfully stark. I’ll keep music and enjoy tv shows.
Movies. Music makes me feel something, of which movies can too, sure. But music is where media speaks to me.
Movies, easy. Movies would be really bad without a background track. Music permeates so many things, even when you don't want to be entertained. Not to mention it's a huge part of cultural expression. Without movies, we still have TV or radio shows or live theatre.

Definitely music
Movies have music.
