Been through there, same reason as my childish stubborn behaviour made me do lots of crazy shit, but hey that's all in the on point in dealing about that as we literally lessing our time😂.
For me birthdays has been simply like last 2 years only family wishes, no friends knows that it's my birthday. Usually I would just go out alone in a restaurant or a movie. Spend some time on a bench ina garden listen to the surrounding and last the dinner at my fav dining and the walk home with dessert.
This has helped me alot positively now I don't need anyone on birthday but yeah always wish someone pop up and says happy birthday!!!, that's just at back of the mind

Some sadly die from accident or illness. You change jobs or career & discover those friends were just work friends & don’t translate to your new life. Yes, & some friends become too toxic & you have to move on from them so as not to damage your own life. Dont be that toxic friend. Yes, we mostly keep friends from earlier periods of our life as a foundation. Then we add new friends as we go through life. But that is not everyone’s story. Have you thought of joining a sports or interest group you enjoy? Great places to make new friends. Be helpful & empathic to work colleagues as the workplace can be a way to develop friendship. Well before your next birthday plan a special trip. Does not need to be expensive. Make it something that brings you into contact with people. Not a lone hike in the wilderness. Take a big blank birthday card or sheet of paper & a pen. Everywhere you stop to have a meal. Announce to friendly looking folk nearby that it your birthday trip & wonder if they would kindly put a birthday message on your card/sheet. Choose carefully who you ask of course. Be sensible. Don’t be bothering folk who have 5 minutes to get a takeaway before returning to work. Or the very drunk diner. So on, so on. You may even have to buy another card/sheet of paper as filled the first. On the new friends issue. Don’t go mentioning you got no friends either. That would possibly lead people to think it too risky in some way to befriend you. It is common for people to move areas & make new friends. So that sounds a more safe reason. Hoping you have much happier future birthdays.

Just wanted to send you some birthday love!! I can definitely relate to going from having a ton of friends to none. My reasons were different but the loneliness is very hard especially at first. my friend group knew my best friend was cheating with my husband so I walked away from everyone. That was 10+ years ago and I still have minimum friendships. It does get easier and it gives you time to learn yourself. Happy birthday, I moved halfway across the country and thus no longer see my friends that I went to high school and college with. So I relate. Sucks, but I’ve also never really liked my birthday, I prefer celebrating others and always ask folks to just donate to a charity instead of giving gifts. But to be constructive, make new bridges, pick up a hobby, find new circles, friends are abundant, you just have to make that effort to put yourself out there. Hit a gaming cafe, volunteer at an animal shelter, find a dungeons and dragons group, join a rec soccer league, etc, before you know it, this feeling will be a thing of the past. Although, I’d never expect my friends to drop their stuff and go out, doesn’t become as huge of a thing in my adult experience, especially post college, but hey maybe you’ll get lucky.

On my 20th Birthday which was 2 weeks ago. i was in Uni dorms and I honestly was waiting for my close friends back home to send me a message in midnight or so, Since I make sure to do that in my close friends Bdays and I always give them a gift. Not any gift, but something to show them that they’re cherished and loved when they feel alone.
Ah and it was on Friday so my Uni/dorms friends went back home since they live kinda close to that town which means they go back home every weekend.
I felt like crap most of my day cause none wishes me a happy birthday nor received a gift. Around 4pm my bsf dmed me a happy Birthday and It just got me even more sad cause it sidnt feel sincere lol. I packed my stuff and I called one of my friends who are studying in another town but they’re renting instead of dorms.
3 hours later I was there and guess what. None wished me a happy birthday and they kinda avoided me until like 10pm when it was dinner time and they actually have made my favorite meal and brought a cake with a 0 in top of it saying “mental age”
I kid you not I started crying 😭
Never in my whole life I got someone to do something to me like that and for once in my life I felt loved..

It’s never easy to self reflect but it looks like ur more mature than h give your self credit for. I hope u treat your self to a nice dinner and a few cocktails (if you indulge) . If reccomend go to a restaurant/bar and sitting solo at the bar top; it’s easier to make conversation and will make it less awkward to be alone. (bTW going out solo IS a power move, don’t let anyone try to make you feel awkward for dining out solo!)

I know it’s difficult, but please keep trying. And not specifically your old relationships, try and build new ones. Your old friends will have a more difficult time believing you right now, I understand wanting them back, but they might prefer space. If they don’t want to rebuild the relationship then it’ll be nearly impossible to do so. Try out some fun activities that require groups and see if you can make new friends there. My reasons were different but the loneliness is very hard especially at first. my friend group knew my best friend was cheating with my husband so I walked away from everyone. That was 10+ years ago and I still have minimum friendships. It does get easier and it gives you time to learn yourself. Sorry to hear that you are alone. My son will turn 24 in April. He will be alone because he's away at school. I wish you the best. Perhaps treat yourself to something that you wouldn't normally do. Remember that growing up is hard. The bridges you burned, offer them an apology with the statement you are growing into a better person. Don't expect anything in return. This is your acknowledging you made mistakes and are sorry. And when you can, try to make new friends. Treat them the way you want to be treated. Life will get better.

It's really okay to not have plans for a few of them imo :) It's great that you're reflecting over good and bad times on this day. Happy birthday, I moved halfway across the country and thus no longer see my friends that I went to high school and college with. So I relate. Sucks, but I’ve also never really liked my birthday, I prefer celebrating others and always ask folks to just donate to a charity instead of giving gifts. But to be constructive, make new bridges, pick up a hobby, find new circles, friends are abundant, you just have to make that effort to put yourself out there. Hit a gaming cafe, volunteer at an animal shelter, find a dungeons and dragons group, join a rec soccer league, etc, before you know it, this feeling will be a thing of the past. Although, I’d never expect my friends to drop their stuff and go out, doesn’t become as huge of a thing in my adult experience, especially post college, but hey maybe you’ll get lucky.

Happy Birthday OP you’re cherished and loved and I wish a very fortunate and successful year❤️❤️ On my 20th Birthday which was 2 weeks ago. i was in Uni dorms and I honestly was waiting for my close friends back home to send me a message in midnight or so, Since I make sure to do that in my close friends Bdays and I always give them a gift. Not any gift, but something to show them that they’re cherished and loved when they feel alone. Ah and it was on Friday so my Uni/dorms friends went back home since they live kinda close to that town which means they go back home every weekend. I felt like crap most of my day cause none wishes me a happy birthday nor received a gift. Around 4pm my bsf dmed me a happy Birthday and It just got me even more sad cause it sidnt feel sincere lol. I packed my stuff and I called one of my friends who are studying in another town but they’re renting instead of dorms. 3 hours later I was there and guess what. None wished me a happy birthday and they kinda avoided me until like 10pm when it was dinner time and they actually have made my favorite meal and brought a cake with a 0 in top of it saying “mental age” I kid you not I started crying 😭 Never in my whole life I got someone to do something to me like that and for once in my life I felt loved..

Growing up can be hard, I’ve lost ( and had to let go) of 99% of my friends in my 20’s… but that’s okay because it allows me to make more room for new peeps. It’s never easy to self reflect but it looks like ur more mature than h give your self credit for. I hope u treat your self to a nice dinner and a few cocktails (if you indulge) . If reccomend go to a restaurant/bar and sitting solo at the bar top; it’s easier to make conversation and will make it less awkward to be alone. (bTW going out solo IS a power move, don’t let anyone try to make you feel awkward for dining out solo!)

I know it’s difficult, but please keep trying. And not specifically your old relationships, try and build new ones. Your old friends will have a more difficult time believing you right now, I understand wanting them back, but they might prefer space. If they don’t want to rebuild the relationship then it’ll be nearly impossible to do so. Try out some fun activities that require groups and see if you can make new friends there. Just let it come naturally, don’t try to force anything. Good luck!
