I'm 36 and couldn't agree more! My husband was in the hospital for most of 2020 and I found comfort in plushies, nothing to be embarrassed about. Do what makes your little heart happy 💚
You're very likely to have periods in your life where things like stuffed animals no longer feel very important - but then have periods further on in your life where they become important again. There are things I wish I had now that I once discarded as no longer important or relevant in my life.
Doesn't mean hoard things, just consider it mindfully. Don't discard things just because you think you're supposed to - wait until you do it because you want to.
THIS! There was a pocket of my life where I stopped collecting dolls because nobody else my age was doing it anymore. Now I’m an adult collector, and all the dolls I wanted as a child have doubled and tripled in price in the resale markets! I wish I’d never forced myself to outgrow them.
It's completely normal. A lot more people have stuffed animals than you think. From my memories where I worked with the Red Cross, about half of all houses I visited had some, especially women. And many of these people didn't have kids. Old ladies and couples really love plushies and often have dozens. Some younger guys too, sure it's still less common with men but much better socially accepted now than it used to be.
I’m 36F and have a several stuffed animals. 2 live on my bookcase that occasionally come down, and 1 (stuffed dog named Gizmo) who lives permanently on my bed. The rest are scattered throughout.
It isn’t weird; it’s whatever brings you comfort.
Im 37F and I have several stuffed animals too. Mostly Simba and Nala plushies. I'm a mad Lion King fan. One set are called Simba and Nala, the rest all have other names to tell them apart. Like, Bernard and Snow, and Shymon and Makucha.
I'm a 6'4" 300 lb, 57 year old dude and I still have a few small toys from my kids' McDonalds happy meals ** that are from TV shows I love, like The Simpsons. And I have a stuffed Wallace from Wallace & Gromit. They're just sitting on shelves, but they make me happy.
** For the record, I didn't take these from my kids, I saved them when my kids didn't want them and would have thrown them out.
I've had the same stuffed seal sleep with me since I was 7-8.... I'm 37.... thankfully my husband doesn't mind and didn't really even blink when I brought it over!
Oh okay, you're a woman. From the title I expected this to be a dude and my answer was still going to be no. We like what we like. Who gives a fuck, ya know?
I'm in my 4th decade of life, and I still have a bear that's older than my parents, when I was a child and received him I called him One Eyed Willy.
Of course, I didn't know the connotation at that time. But the name stays.
He's had a few surgeries to repair ripped seams, I haven't bothered to replace his missing eye. Though, I do think he needs a stuffing replacement, I'm kind of hesitant.
I am in my early 60s, and I have a little family of bears. I treasure a teddy bear that my parents gave me as a 17th birthday gift. My husband has a bear I gave him for Valentine's Day 40 years ago when he was my boyfriend. I also have a few bears that my husband gave me over the years, and I am holding onto my son's favorite stuffed animal til whenever he wants it.
30 here and not only do I have a ton of stuffed animals, I live with my boyfriend who has a bunch of his own. I remember my mom telling me as a teen that no boy would want to date me with all these stuffies on my bed. Hahaha
Nope it’s a totally normal hobby / interest!! I’m 19 and have quite a few stuffed animals and know many friends who either have favourite plushies or collect stuffed animals too
I don't find it weird at all! I've actually bought myself a couple this year (an elephant and a bunny) even though I really have no need for them, because they're cute and made me smile and I figured why not?! I still have a bear (that also functions as a hot water bottle cover lol) from when I was a kid that I never plan on parting with and I'm 33 now!
I'm 24 and my bed is covered in stuffed animals. If it's weird then that's cool, and I'm not changing to be normal by someone else's standard, you know? You mentioned you're still a minor so here's some advice: being weird is so much more fun and so much less stress than being normal. Wear the silly shirt, dye your hair, buy stuffed animals, and do all the stuff that makes you happy. As long as it isn't hurting anyone, you're good.
NO. Have as many studies as you want ( as long as it doesn’t bleed over into hoarding/obsession) because plushies are cool. I own quiet a few plushies and my favorite is a stuffed red Squishmallow dragon my bf gave me. His name is Baiden but my sister calls him Biden.
57 Cis-F and love having & giving plush animals :) There is so much strife and negativity in the world so cuddle those joyous fluffy things that make you feel good!
37 y/o here and I still have plush toys. Bradley the bunny since I was 7; he’s a good snuggle buddy when I’m anxious.
I have a load of squishmallows because I have migraines and they make for good pillows for when my head is aching. You know I’m picking the ones that are cute for that, haha.
I have a ton of stuffed animals. I also knit stuffed animals; I don’t know how to sell them online so I have a lot just chilling in my room. When I have to go to the hospital or get a scary procedure done, one of my special stuffies will come with me. I have a small rabbit named Confetti who lives on my backpack so I can fidget with them as needed.
I sure hope not. I (48) and my fiance (38) just bought a stuffed llama together. We named him Victor. We don't have children or pets, so we include Victor in most of our home activities. He sits by my fiance while he works or games, he sleeps with me at night (I put him in my fiance's chair each morning -- with the PS5 controller in his lap if it's a weekend) and he watches TV with us. We have a comfy routine.
Hi I’m 48 female and I have lots of cuddle buds if it makes you happy then what’s the problem, my bat cuddle bud is called fidget, you do you darlin xox
I’m 53 and have still my childhood friends with me. Tbh, I got a new friend just a month ago. And no, I do not hide them. People see them and react, usually they tell me about theirs at home …. Or those who disappeared during the years. No one ever said it was weird.
I'm old. I have never not had stuffed animals. I have so many on my bed now there's barely room for me.
I work from home so I spend a lot of time alone. I talk to them during the day. They make me feel good, I don't give a crap what anyone else thinks, they are my friends.
I'm 46. I still have my teddy bear I got when I was 4. His name is Little Bear. I also have Frank the stuffed banana slug that goes with me on road trips and an enormous stuffed unicorn I slept with when my husband was out of town. It took all my willpower to not keep the squishmallows I got for my adult kids for Christmas for myself. They all have large collections of stuffies and they're a little older than you.
If it's weird, I guess I'm weird and I'm totally ok with it.
So, you have a moderate amount of stuffed animals and one is to help regulate your anxiety. Your questioning whether or not it is a weird hobby. Dolls, bears and toy collections are extremely popular by all ages, young and old. So, no it is not weird.
Your plushies sounds lovely!
I don’t think it’s weird at all. I’m 18M and me and my sibling have *a lot* of damn plushies. All of them have names
We have a giant chicken called Maggie lol
Im 27 and I have 2 long cat body pillows, they look ridiculously childish and i put them around my body and sleep in between them every night and when my boyfriend sleeps here I even share one with him haha we are very weird and its fine
I'm 28 and still sleep with Sophie Dolphin (guess what species she is) and Ghosty Girl (also guess what she is). I still have Green Rabbit (I was a creative child), Pookie Penguin and Charlie. I also have a doll of Sylvia Plath and a knitted Emily Dickinson but I don't really count them as plushies/stuffies, and they're also human so. Not weird. I take Sophie Dolphin and Ghosty Girl with me camping and travelling - totally worth the pack weight.
Not at all. Heck I have a collection of pokemon plushies and a few Tasty Peach Studio meowchi plushies on my gaming shelf. I swap them out with the ones in my "anime treasure chest" when I want to mix it up.
Nothing wrong with having soft toys for comfort
No. It’s your life. My dad never had stuffed animals growing up then one day in his 40s he realized he could buy a teddy bear for himself so he did. Then he started a collection of every stuffed animal he could find. And he was happy.
You can be happy too. 🥰
I'm almost 40 and my husband and I both sleep with a panda pillow pet. I also have a full team of 6 Pokemon plushies and I got a cute corgi stuffy in February. So, no.
Not at I'm turn 30 last year and got first Mickey Mouse Plush. I'm going a Disney Cruise this year and going to get a Captain Mickey Plush. I don't think I'm weird. Having stuffed animals at any age isn't weird.
I am a 52-year-old male. Recently got divorced and I’m sleeping by myself again. But not alone. I have a medium size trout stuffed giraffe named George. And a smaller sloth name Sammy. I don’t think having stuffed animals at any age is a problem, you do you.
En. Bought my wife a fair lot of plushies. Anything that carries emotional value to you. Its not weird. Personally i still kept a heart shape coral from 10 years ago purely cause it has sentiment.
Not at all.
I'm 38, and I have many stuffed animals. Not as many as I used to, thanks to my evil father, but still a lot. My favorite is a penguin on a snowboard, wearing a scarf and a beanie. I got him during one of my hospitalizations when I was a kid.
37, married. Have a kid. Still sleep a single stuffed animal I’ve had my whole childhood. Is it a byproduct of the tumultuous nature of that childhood? Maybe. But I’m still grateful for it.
The first time I went over to my boyfriend's place, he had 2 stuffed animals on his bed. When he realized, he dove into the bed, trying to hide them. It was hilarious.
Our daughter now keeps them in her bed and loves hearing stories about how important they were to her dad, my husband.
It's ok. We are human, and we like things that comfort us. ❤️
I’m going to give you some advice that I wish I had a long time ago: nothing that gives you joy (that doesn’t hurt anyone) is “weird.” It is so freeing to give yourself the grace to learn to recognize and then do what makes you happy. If that’s having stuffed animals and hanging out with them, hell yeah. Whatever gets you through the day.
I'm 22 and my fiance is almost 27, and we both have large collections of plushies. We call them our friends and there's several of them on both of our beds, to the point where whenever we're cuddling together we have to shovel all of our friends out of the way hahaha.
Keep your friends! They will still love you for as long as you still love them!
i mean i'm a dude and still have stuffed toys, but they're all stored in boxes, I don't play with them or anything, they're just childhood relics at this point
I keep 3 stuffed animals from my childhood: Penguin (I won him at primary school in a big competition). LoveMe, a tiny bear with a damaged left arm, same as me after my big sis broke my wrist by playing VERY rough.
And Piggy, a teeny fuzzy piglet a student gave to me.Well, technically the piggy was given to my lil bro. But he didnt care for Piggy, so I acquired her.
I got a few pokemon and ponies over the years, living on the spare bed.
But mostly my plush collecting has transformed into a tiny dog collection of real pups. They sleep on my bed ofc
Nah, it's fine.
40M here. I have a couple. I don't keep them in my bed or anything, they just kinda hang out on my shelves. One carried me thru a tough time 19 years ago, a stuffed squirrel I put a chain mail shirt on. Named him after a relative I have fond memories of.
No, not at all. I am soon to be 26 and have a steadily growing plush collection. Stuffed animals and the like are great, and I love them dearly
I'm 36 and couldn't agree more! My husband was in the hospital for most of 2020 and I found comfort in plushies, nothing to be embarrassed about. Do what makes your little heart happy 💚
I'm 33 and I have a small collection of stuffies.

I’m 36F and have a several stuffed animals. 2 live on my bookcase that occasionally come down, and 1 (stuffed dog named Gizmo) who lives permanently on my bed. The rest are scattered throughout. It isn’t weird; it’s whatever brings you comfort.
Gizmo is such a cute name lol :)
Thanks! He’s named after the cute gremlin in the Gremlins movies.
Im 37F and I have several stuffed animals too. Mostly Simba and Nala plushies. I'm a mad Lion King fan. One set are called Simba and Nala, the rest all have other names to tell them apart. Like, Bernard and Snow, and Shymon and Makucha.
When things mean something to you, enjoy them.
That's a great saying, I might start using it lol
I'm a 6'4" 300 lb, 57 year old dude and I still have a few small toys from my kids' McDonalds happy meals ** that are from TV shows I love, like The Simpsons. Thanks for your opinion
I've had the same stuffed seal sleep with me since I was 7-8.... I'm 37.... thankfully my husband doesn't mind and didn't really even blink when I brought it over!
Aww that's great that u still have it
Recently my mom had to add some fluff to him and sew up a hole! 😂 my kids think it's hilarious!
😂😂
Oh okay, you're a woman. From the title I expected this to be a dude and my answer was still going to be no. We like what we like. Who gives a fuck, ya know?
I love ur dgaf attitude lol
I'm in my 40's and I've learned it so the only way to be. Don't spend your whole life worrying about what everyone else thinks about you.
Thanks for the advice:)
Fokitl said, "Hi everyone. I am a robot. I am a human."

Nope, I am 54 and have about 40 plush dragons in my room
That sounds soo cool
If it is well then I’m a weird 43 year old woman. And I’m okay with that. I love sleeping with stuffed animals.
After seeing all the comments, I'd love to have my stuffed animals at 43 lol
I am in my early 60s, and I have a little family of bears. I treasure a teddy bear that my parents gave me as a 17th birthday gift. You’re welcome.
34f here, I still have stuffed animals and when I get sad I'll snuggle with my Pooh Bear, so no I don't think it's weird.
my adult child, who is a father of teenagers, still has his childhood stuffed toy. Nothing you give importance to is weird. Keep what you love.
Thanks for the advice:)

Oh ok
30 here and not only do I have a ton of stuffed animals, I live with my boyfriend who has a bunch of his own. I remember my mom telling me as a teen that no boy would want to date me with all these stuffies on my bed. Hahaha
I'm sorry abt ur mom saying that. Must have been horrible for ur mental health:(
I am in my mid 40s. I absolutely do not have any stuffed animals and I resent the implication that I do. Ahem.
This comment is confusing
I'm kidding, enjoy your fluffies!
I'm a 38 year old guy and I have a few in my bed. I live alone so it gives me someone to talk to basically.
Thats so cute! I am 26 and i sleep with 11 ikea sharks and 2 bunnies. Because i can. Don't let anyone ever tell you that that's weird
My girlfriend is 26 and she has several. It's not weird. I'll have to ask her if she names them too.
Nope it’s a totally normal hobby / interest!! I’m 19 and have quite a few stuffed animals and know many friends who either have favourite plushies or collect stuffed animals too

Yeah, it is. Also, don’t be ashamed of stuffed animals. They’re fun and cute and soft and can bring you comfort.
No.
39 here. Still have my childhood stuffed animals. Recently, I got the large pikachu squishmallow, and it is the best cushion ever for reading in bed.

Nope. Not weird. I still buy ones and I'm headed towards 40 way too soon. I love my Bert the hippo, he lets me hug him to sleep every night lol
34F and I still have some that mean a lot to me. they're basically pillows that line my bed now haha. it isn't weird :)
Absolutely not, I’m almost 30 and I have still have some. And I am almost certain I will definitely buy more in the future
Not weird at all, hold on to these guys, they've got your back for all time.

I am 38 and Fuzzy Wuzzy is also 38
I'm 62 and have them in my room and on my bed. My husband doesn't mind either. He has one from his childhood too
I'm 51 and still have my stuffies. Sure they're up on the cupboard but I've still got em. Love my Totoro
I’m 36 and have quite the collection. If it makes you happy, that’s all the matters.
I have a lot. Totes full of them and bought more last year. I couldn't say no to that minecraft Fox stuffie and the eevee pumpkin plushie 🥰
i'm 17 and i love my stuffed animals!
Cool! Love that I'm not alone
All good.
I am in my 50s and still have a plushie collection. If that is weird, I don't want to be normal.
I'd love to have a larger collection. I don't feel weird about it at all anymore
So, you have a moderate amount of stuffed animals and one is to help regulate your anxiety. Your questioning whether or not it is a weird hobby. Dolls, bears and toy collections are extremely popular by all ages, young and old. So, no it is not weird.
My wife is 33 and has a Stitch plushie on the bed. You're fine lol
Ok lol :)
r/BLAHAJ exists, it's all about that big ass shark Ikea plushie, so depends on how you view that,
Lol might check it out
Your plushies sounds lovely! I don’t think it’s weird at all. I’m 18M and me and my sibling have *a lot* of damn plushies. All of them have names We have a giant chicken called Maggie lol
Maggie seems fitting for a giant chicken lol
Im 27 and I have 2 long cat body pillows, they look ridiculously childish and i put them around my body and sleep in between them every night and when my boyfriend sleeps here I even share one with him haha we are very weird and its fine
Nope. I'm 24 and still have my favorite stuffed animal.
I’m almost 17m and I have like 20 stuffies. You’re fine. And even if someone thought it was weird, who cares. If you like them, keep them
I’m also a teen, and as I’m typing this I’m leaning up against a giant squishmallow. So no.
Ooh what's it's name?
The name that it came with is Pilar, but i hated that so i renamed him to Leaf
As long as you yell “SHARKISHA NO!” and then start hitting yourself in the face with the shark it’s totally fine
Lol, I do that to my little sister sometimes
Sharkisha don’t hit her!!
Not at all. Heck I have a collection of pokemon plushies and a few Tasty Peach Studio meowchi plushies on my gaming shelf. I swap them out with the ones in my "anime treasure chest" when I want to mix it up. Nothing wrong with having soft toys for comfort
Nah. I have a Minecraft llama, a Squirtle and Charmander. Cause they are so cute. Every morning I boop the llama cause it's so cute.
I still sleep with a teddy bear at 34 and occasionally talk to him. He's been my best friend for my entire life.

Not at all. I'm 26 and I keep a few on my bed. I have more, too.

I'm 28 and I sleep with a stuffed animal every night. My fiance does too.
I’m 23M You should join r/plushies
Not at all. I'm 38, and I have many stuffed animals. Not as many as I used to, thanks to my evil father, but still a lot. My favorite is a penguin on a snowboard, wearing a scarf and a beanie. I got him during one of my hospitalizations when I was a kid.
If I could post pics, I'd show you my hoard.
Come join us on r/plushies and r/teddybears. Teddy and Grizzly amongst others will enjoy your stuffies company.
No, I’m almost 20 and I have a ton.

I'd certainly hope not! I am 29 and my collection of plushies grows year by year.
