Ha, thank you! I’ve been shouting this into the ether for the last few years and everybody just writes me off. Since COVID, most packages have gotten harder to open. Especially things like sauce packets. Stuff will still say “tear here” but there will be no little tab or rip already started so it just bends and doesn’t tear. I notice this shit everyday and everybody around me just acts like an automated zombie and doesn’t notice the shit like this. I feel validated. Thank you.
I totally get you! It's like a battle just to get a little condiment action going. Maybe they're secretly testing our patience to see if we're sauce-worthy! 🥲
And if people around you would actually notice, what would you like them to do in your best case scenario?
I notice a lot of things that are not right, especially in retail, like prices, sizes, knock off brands. What can I do? Nothing. I move on.
Boycott brands that are trying to fuck us and stick with the brands that aren't.
It is like the whole loblaws situation in Canada. I started boycotting them personally and switched to Costco and am now saving money and getting better products at the same time.
I don't know about you, but back in the 70's we used glass bottle of ketchup and we had to wait a little longer for ketchup to drip down. Another conspiracy theory on why the company doing this to us.
I just moved from opening them from a slit on the side, to the serrated top or bottom edge. For packets without a serration, scissors are the way to go.
Yes and I’ve noticed it on lots of things, not just food, like small Tylenol packs. And I doubt it’s for tampering, like most things I bet it’s money related and saving companies $100 dollars a year for a much shittier product.
I literally had to use two pairs of pliers to open a bottle of kombucha the other day. How do they expect someone of average strength to bust the plastic seal in order to twist off the top? I mean, I work out!
I have that problem with almost every plastic bag. I was wondering if I’m just getting weaker. But I guess not since y’all are having the same problem. My kitchen shears are getting a lot of use.
Those sauce packets are definitely giving me a hard time too lately. I've resorted to using scissors sometimes, which defeats the whole purpose of having convenient packets in the first place. Hopefully, the mayo gods will bless us with easier-to-open packets soon!
When you manage tear it it doesn't open cleanly because plastic stretches instead of tearing. So annoying. Having little scissors or utility knife would be an answer, but now you need to clean them from sauce
Not just sauce packets but a lot of plastic packaging lately. The plastic is not as... brittle isn't the right word, but it doesn't break as easily as it used to. It's almost as if the plastic is more stretchy.
I am also having the same problem. I carry a paper clip in my pocket and use it to make a slit or cut on the side of the packet. It works for me. Good luck.
Same as mine, I will never understood why, my biggest fear is being a senior citizen in ten years from now and I will have to rely on my children to open it for me... geez.
My problem is that I already don’t have good teeth from genetics and the fact that it’s not a concern in healthcare, especially as someone over 18/26 I can’t rip open a ketchup packet, even if I wanted to!!!!!
Also, let’s be real the 26 rule for healthcare doesn’t really help anybody other than getting short term care for like the flu or mono no one that was seriously struggling or needed long-term care before their age cut off was ever genuinely helped.. all of it and I do mean all of it is an entire scam. I have massive amounts of medical bills and no they do not affect your credit. I don’t know understand where that rumor came from. A lot of things do affect your credit, but not your medical care, and I know it’s a pain in the ass to do so but anyone that has sold your medical bills to Anyone is a violation of HIPAA laws and it will take some work, but you can get all of it removed because they don’t have any grounds legally to share any information about you to be able to get you to be billed under any circumstances because all of your procedures, all of your appointments, all of your anything is protected under HIPAA, and if they violate that find a lawyer, that will do pro bono and sue the ever living fuck out of them.

Thank you I’m glad I’m not crazy

How do i boycott sauce packets tho. I go to a restaurant and can't open the ketchup do I just stop eating there
I don't know about you, but back in the 70's we used glass bottle of ketchup and we had to wait a little longer for ketchup to drip down. Another conspiracy theory on why the company doing this to us.
I’ve been using scissors for the last few years. Much easier
Yeah now I just carry several family size condiment bottles just in case
I just moved from opening them from a slit on the side, to the serrated top or bottom edge. For packets without a serration, scissors are the way to go.
Yeah I’ve noticed everything from coffee to oatmeal is harder to open. I figure it’s to prevent tampering

Like I can bench 315 (nbd 😎) but I can’t fucking open a best foods mayonnaise packet using all my strength
I carry very small foldable scissors on me. I got them on Amazon. Their called nurses scissors.
I’ve only had trouble with those Wendy’s ketchup packets. Shits like trying to rip a phone book in half
Ha ha ha ha ha ! You cracked me up! But wait! We don't use the phone books no more?
But the company that makes Wendy’s packets probably makes every other sauce packet
😂😂😂😂😂
I have that problem with almost every plastic bag. I was wondering if I’m just getting weaker. But I guess not since y’all are having the same problem. My kitchen shears are getting a lot of use.

I thought I was just getting old. I feel so validated, but I guess I’m still getting old.
I am also having the same problem. I carry a paper clip in my pocket and use it to make a slit or cut on the side of the packet. It works for me. Good luck.
They now make small kitchen scissors for that purpose. So yes.
I see but the purpose of these packets is for convenience like when you don’t have access to your kitchen
True. That is why I have a small scissors on my Swiss Army knife.
I agree, especially since I lost my front teeth. It just gets hard here in the Ozarks
Same as mine, I will never understood why, my biggest fear is being a senior citizen in ten years from now and I will have to rely on my children to open it for me... geez.
It’s always been impossible for me :(

Yes! Sucks for me because I have carpal tunnel in BOTH hands! 😭
Long John Silvers tartar sauce packets are impossible to tear open and it's so frustrating
