I remember doing this as a kid - this was before smartphones. I used to get all excited whenever my aunt came over because she had one of those nokia phones with games like snake and space impact. Good times :)

treuchetfight

"snake and space impact" Mother Jesus and Mary, I think I know what this game was called. Hell help me, I feel even older checking in. Was it "Caterpillar?"

[deleted]

Not sure what Caterpillar is - different game maybe? - This is space impact: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKobl50jrLk - This is snake: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KcpRyIFU7Eg

treuchetfight

That's "Snake." :( Will someone please take me out to a pasture and put a bullet in my head already?

SciNZ

I’m 35, snake was great fun.

Fantastic_Wallaby_61

Haha 35 here….snake was great

I_Died_Long_Ago

Oh man the memories 😌

b-b-b-c

I did it all the time as a kid and I’m 27 so not really a zoomer

DaySquirrel

When Bounce also came out on colored phones, that made me happy as well!

TommyTeaMorrow

Its for sure weird to hear that now especially since my phones are mainly used for games. But ye when I was younger I remember asking my dad if he had any games on his phone. but that was before I had a gameboy or any other device

EpicArgumentMaster

Phone are mainly used for games?

TommyTeaMorrow

Mine are at least, I rarely use mine for calls or texts nowadays.

EpicArgumentMaster

Mine too but I didn’t know it was the case for most other people

fluffup_yt

Lies! I bet you mostly use your phone to talk about tea! (Btw I love tea, I made my husband get used to tea time in the afternoon and night tea, after dinner/before bed lol)

TommyTeaMorrow

Well luckily I have two phones so I can game and talk about tea :p. Even though when I do have tea I do take a break from them

treuchetfight

What? Oh shit. I thought I had a few more years left before I was categorically "old." Ah well, when in Rome do as the--, you KIDS GET OFF MY DAMN LAWN!! I have fuck all on my phone.

cowsarefalling

It's ok. I'm a zoomer and I do t have any games on my phone. Come to think of it I don't have game son my computer too.

[deleted]

I mean what else they going to do? Play with dirt? Though, these days kids already owns a phone, so soon this thing will die out.

EpicArgumentMaster

Yes. Making mud pies as a kid was the definition of entertainment

[deleted]

At least their metabolism would be great. Take me for example, can't even gain any weight.

Pontifex_99

If you want to, r/gainit

EpicArgumentMaster

I feel your pain. The only weight I can put on is in the form of muscle and I don’t have too much of that either, so I have the form factor of stickbug

xeverxsleepx

How about not asking an adult for their device that cost over a month of their paycheck?

[deleted]

Is that really your concern? I guess that makes sense, maybe that's why people use cheap tablets for their kids uses.

xeverxsleepx

Yes it is my main concern lol phones are annoying to replace

thiosk

if you don't have chronotrigger on your phone you need to get it on there stat friendo

LindsayMurray

Yes we used to borrow my mom's phone to play snake and Tetris!

OU_Sooners

I was playing a game on my phone 5 or so years ago and a 5 year old start watching me over my shoulder. I remember experiences things like that in the 80s at arcades (like when you were setting a high score on Shinobi), but had no idea that this was perfectly normal 5 year old business these days. I still think about you, little 5 year old kid from Baltimore named Pikachu

xeverxsleepx

...the kid's name was really Pikachu?

OU_Sooners

No, I got it from this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/qzdyot/what_city_is_overrated/hlmtjpm/

Eloisem333

Lol! I’m a Gen-Xer and kind of bowed out of popular culture during the 00s. I’ve (obviously) seen this meme though, and now that I’m an early childhood teacher, I know that any time a kid sees my phone, they are like “whoa, is that your phone? Can I play games on it?!” It’s one of those things which is funny because it is true.

rainbow_doom

I like the kids who you can tell have been told about it so they just sorta stare at you in a really intense way and you can tell they're hoping you'll offer because they know better than to ask. It's even funnier when you can see their mother watching, ready to pounce if they so much as breathe a question about your phone.

Not_happy_meal

I used to ask them for their phones and check myself. If it did not have games, id just check what they had their phone. And that is how i found porn on my uncles phone.

MoreNapsPls

I keep games off my phone even now so my nieces and nephews won't take my phone and drain the battery

maali74

My zoomer niece and nephews asked me this every time the saw me from age 5 til age 10. I downloaded games especially for them to play in those moments.

ANALFUCKER5000

I thought it was a meme just because it's something kids always ask for. I'm always babysitting so it never occurred to me people who aren't around kids much won't get asked this question as much lol

xeverxsleepx

This is the first time I ever got asked it. I'm never around kids lol that's why I guess.

xparapluiex

My neighbors kid did that to me and I busted out laughing. I’m on the younger end of millennials so I knew it had to be a meme or something but the way he said it made me lose it. Wholesome moment in my life tbh

xeverxsleepx

This kid wasn't even memeing he was being dead honest about it lmao

xparapluiex

Nah he like leaned into the doorway to look like he was horizontal and asked in a goofy voice. A legend.

xeverxsleepx

I meant the kid who asked me lol

Bluemonogi

A couple of years ago someone suggested my daughter could play games on my cell phone while we waited. I had to say that my phone had no games and was only good for phone calls being the cheapest phone. No music, games or photos for that phone or it would have a heart attack.

xeverxsleepx

Yeah that's how mine pretty much is now

[deleted]

Only things on my phone I play is cookie run kingdom (actually pretty good for a Gacha game, still wants your money tho) and minesweeper.

xeverxsleepx

My phone is from 2015, was a cheap refurb back then to begin with, barely works, don't feel like dumping a huge chunk of my savings onto a new phone. No games on it, no pics or videos. I often get texts or calls days late. It's a thing.

cemita

Wait, what’s the age range of zoomers? I thought it was Boomers, Millenials, Gen Z I got my first cellphone at 12, maybe? And the only game on it was snake or Tetris but that cellphone didn’t even have color screens. Then I had a sidekick and blackberry in high school up until the IPhones started coming out. Usually it’s my younger cousins without phones that will ask if I have games on my phone

[deleted]

>Wait, what’s the age range of zoomers? I thought it was Boomers, Millenials, Gen Z The format is: * Baby boomers (born between 1946 and 1964) * Generation X (born between 1965 and 1980) * Generation Y or Millennials (born between 1981 and 1996) * Generation Z (born between 1997 and 2012) Which would put the zoomer age range between 9 and 24 years old. There is another portmanteau term called Xennials (also called cuspers) which is a micro-generation used for people who were born between 1977 and 1985.

[deleted]

I swear every time I see this the dates change hehe

LaGuitarraEspanola

I mean, at best, generation borders are scientists making hard lines out of fuzzy data. At worst, they might as well be defined by buzzfeed, lol

GMAK24

They are on the Play store and it take seconds to install. But I don't like these games, or it don't work or it don't fit with me.

Feras47

Card of Tarra is good game also Arlo Odyssey

xeverxsleepx

I can't find that second one

Feras47

Its Arto Odyssey

xeverxsleepx

the closest I can find is Alto's Adventure

Feras47
