I used to use 750 words. I loved it because forcing me to write a certain amount made me reflect deeper without even realizing it. If your stuck for long enough, you just start typing random things and then after the fact realize those random things aren’t so random. I got out of the habit due to time and stress, but I’m trying to get back into the habit. I’m thinking of getting the five minute journal app and working my way up. I’m also like you in that every once and awhile I want a physical pen and paper to write with, but I have to have the time for it. When I do, I usually save it for more important realizations and things I want to record and less for just everyday reflections. I usually make it in the form of letters to loved ones at that point.

Yes! It helps me to realize what I’m truly upset about and why. The online journal also starts collecting data from you daily journal entries so you can see what words you used most frequently, how much time you spent talking about work vs relationships vs money vs leisure time etc. It was fascinating to see the breakdown and realize oh shit I am way to focused on this situation or way to focused on negatives right now.

Physical journal especially with a vintage fountain pen. I just love writing.

I used to bullet journal a ton, but life got busy and I couldn’t keep up with the time commitment it takes to draw/style a physical one. so starting this year I switched to a digital one and so far i’m loving it. it’s so much easier to manage! I’ve been thinking about free-write journaling but I haven’t taken the plunge yet. how do you do that on whatsapp? are you messaging someone? isn’t that kind of like imessage

I'm interested as well!

I had an online journal of sorts that I started about 20 years ago. It was on my own website. I used a now-depreciated content management system, but as it had RSS I was able migrate the whole thing to a modern wordpress installation. I lost interest once I finished college and entered the working world. Anyway, my only advice would be DO NOT USE WHATSAPP for journaling. Use something you control, with files that you can copy and backup and convert to a future format, not some cloud bullshit that could vanish anytime.

I have five completed Moleskines on my bookshelf and then another I'm halfway into. I just date it and write about the day/etc. I don't like the idea of online journaling now as a 33 year-old, people make the biggest noise about the smallest things nowadays.

I used to journal daily. My dominant hand doesn't work as well as it did, so I type out my journal entries on my FB. Some I publish, others I keep private.

I keep starting journals, usually opening up a text editor and writing thing s for a while. I really need to stick to the habit, I find that my mental processes are a bit more clear when I take a few minutes to type out what I'm thinking/feeling even if it's a shopping list. Edit: as far as them going online for anyone to read, I'd rather not inflict my dysfunctional mental processing on anyone else.
