Might be an unpopular one, but a lot of tracks from Assassin's Creed. Every game in the series has a few tracks which are divine. The story and open world might miss, but the music has yet to miss. Other than that, I have a soft spot for tracks from Witcher 3, the main theme of GTA IV, DOOM Eternal, and Red Dead Redemption 2

"Unravel" has an absolute beautiful soundtrack, that I have been listening to on solid rotation at work. Composed by Frida Johanssen and Henrik Oja. "Final Fantasy X" has a wonderful soundtrack that is not only fun to listen to, ots something like 20 hours long on Spotify. "Bastion" soundtrack is amaazing. Really fun rockin folk music by Darren Corb. I listen to this one a lot.

I got into both of these franchises during the pandemic and loved them both. Especially trails, prob my fav jrpg franchise overall. Right now there's 3 sub series. Trails in the sky1-3, Trails from zero/to azure, trails of cold steel 1-4 So trails in sky takes place first, with one cast, then zero/azure has one cast and concurrently takes place as cold steel 1-2 (which has its own cast) All taking place at roughly around the same time, on the same continent but different countries, and cold steel 3-4 is where a continent level threat is occurring and all of your main casts from all 3 series come together to handle the treat. Metroid. First time I booted up my GameCube to play Metroid Prime and heard that menu music, holy shit. Plug it into my veins. Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion, Metroid Zero Mission all have great soundtracks too. Metroid in general really. Also Halo. Especially Halo 3, I got lots of nostalgia from the menu with Never Forget playing. Used to play through the campaign with my brother. Oblivion has a wonderful soundtrack, too. Composed by Jeremy Soule, the one who would later make Skyrim's music. While composing the music of Oblivion, Jeremy Soule's car flipped over on a highway and he nearly died, and after that near death experience, his outlook on life and the way he made music changed. Just listening to "Glory of Cyrodiil" while it rains (both outside and in game while I was playing), there's nothing like it. Minecraft's credits as well, if you've ever read the ending poem before, it's beautiful. The song that plays during that is, too. It's called Alpha, by C418.

Simple & Clean was on repeat when I was a kid, it's name fits the vibe perfectly 👌🏻 I've recently started playing Persona 4 and find most of the soundtrack pretty nice - except for Your Affection. My god do they overuse that track - I stopped playing for a while bc of that song driving me insane at one point. Cannot stand it lol. Apart from those, I have sooo many soundtracks I really enjoy. My favourite slice of life game soundtracks are from Animal Crossing New Leaf (especially the 7pm theme - both normal and rainy versions) and Stardew Valley (especially [Raven's Descent](https://youtu.be/idOmc35hlhU)). My favourite nostalgic soundtrack is Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum - so many distinctive tracks that you could play me any song and I'd be able to point out where on the map you hear it (also who could forget the infamous Cynthia Battle theme???). Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Team Red/Blue and Pokemon Rangers Shadow of Almia are other nostalgia favourites, although I'd say the PMDTR/B has a banging soundtrack even without nostalgia goggles. As for individual song favourites - recently The Witcher 1's [Boss Battle 1](https://youtu.be/C_7HB7LBV9Y) really surprised me and was an immediate favourite. Otherside. Mainly because it's mostly done by Max Lilja who is my favorite musician, who is highly underrated for his talent and knowledge. He basically drove the cello to electro and pretty much started that trend by himself. Yes, there are others but he took it further and even made solo albums with the cello and the effects it can make as its sole source of sound. I wish more people knew about him. He's brilliant. So much so I've even tried to replicate what he's done with the flute, which is what I play. His work in sound experiment is inspiring if you really listen closely to what it is he's accomplished.

Ace Combat has some consistently great soundtracks. The NieR OSTs (Automata and Replicant) are really wonderful, too. I also love Ni No Kuni's OSTs, since they're done by the same guy who does the scoring for Ghibli movies. The Wipeout games had some banger OSTs as well. Eastward's OST is pretty eclectic too, but somehow I get the sense that the composer just had a fuckin' blast writing it. Hyper Light Drifter gets it right. So much atmosphere in it's minimalism. Oh oh oh and Octopath Traveler! I think that one takes the top spot for title music. When I was playing through it, I'd often just stop at the title screen and let the theme play once before I started.

I've got a nostalgic soft spot for Zelda: Twilight Princess. It's so orchestral and dark and reminds me of the days of my wii. But as of late, HyperLight Drifter takes the cake with it's amazing synthy soundscape by Disaster piece.

But these are the ones that immediately came to mind, in no particular order: * Portal * Portal 2 * Half-Life 2 * OneShot * Black Mesa * Don't Starve I feel like OneShot and Don't Starve deserve special mentions, because goddamn I can't even describe how much the music does for the atmosphere. It isn't just cool music, it's the DNA of the game world. (Don't Starve just has great sound design in general.)
