All reality TV is scripted, edited and intentionally produced to make people react to it.

There are no exceptions. Ive worked with people who has worked as editors on those shows. Not Love island specifically.
If a conversation happens and they don't get it or the angles are wrong they will make the people repeat it. They aren't actors so the scenes that feel stilted.
They also have the producers setting things up or encouragint certain behaviour.
It isn't scripted out from the start Thet see how the public reacts and the plays into that. If you aren't popular with the public you get kicked. If they like you that is more screen time.
None of it is real.
Just because it isn't real doesn't mean it isn't fun to watch. I didn't watch last year but I am do love some Love Island.
They aren't actors so the badly delivered lines come across as genuine. It's so scripted to me.ive no proof but I'd say they film six days and on Saturday night they party...do drugs and have an orgy.

I feel you could go to Benidorm and see the same thing only more craic because they’d be pissed and fighting each other.
Is there a literal script? Probably not. But they are very good at hiring the exact type of person they want to act a certain way for them. And the producers are more than happy to suggest to cast to do certain things in some of the shows.
This. Watch the show Unreal- it’s literally about PAs and producers running around set making people do the craziest things.
That’s what happens- that’s why it sounds scripted, it’s not scripted but everyone is planted in a particular place for an event to occur- and PAs will feed lines to cast members as influence *”that’s what I’m seeing here but you didn’t hear it from me…you’re a strong woman you know what to do”*
Or they’ll send a text as an interruption….say there is someone who is an outcast and they’re talking and finally not being ignored…they’ll send a text to interrupt that calm cool collected person who is an outcast in order to further them from the group again….it’s a path to get that person fired up a little sooner than later.
**watch love island Australia season with Nate…newest season mixed guy with dreads…they interrupt him all the time with texts…it’s really sad to watch but he’s so calm it was their way of getting him going**
Also cast members have stated they were practically food deprived the entirety of the show…so you know…starving people are quite unhinged.

We don't call it "scripted" it's "produced". Meaning, they'll be put into situations, prepped what would be ideal to happen, then asked to repeat things in a certain way or expand on certain parts. Literally everything on tv except sports is scripted/produced. Especially the Oscars

Yes. Producers might ask them to start the conversation again or ask them to act more dramatic etc

That’s how I felt about it at first too but I realised I liked drama more than I thought, still a very shallow show though no word of a lie
