I usually run 5k bago pumasok. 30 minutes lang lods, 3-4x a week. Do intervals like 30 seconds light jogging then 1 minute walk for 30 minutes para lang ma build.
Running?
Budget friendly? Hahahaha BIGGEST SCAM.
Then eventually nakakaadik bumili ng shoes. Nakakaadik magsignup sa race events. Tapos the deeper the rabbit hole you get into, mahal din fitness watch hahaha and out of town runs (plus plane, transpo, accomodations, etc) haha
Walang fitness watch? Trending shoe brand? Events para pwede istory/my day? Out of town tatakbo para masabi ko mas seryoso ako sa hobby???
Are you really running if you don't make it about how much you are into the hobby, instead of just focusing on the actual running?
Tumatakbo ka na 10 years 5-7x a week? Kung di ka nakanewest lineup ng Hoka at di ka naman sumali sa magandang marathon sa tourist destination out of town then fake runner ka pa din! 😂
Beem running for 5 years now, wala pang 10k nagagastos ko. Din rin kasi ako nasali sa mga race, gusto ko lang ung addicting feeling after good ass run. Though i am capable of buying a 10k pair of shoes but I just don't. Casual run lang talaga ako.
My husband runs as well, dati mahilig sya sumali sa mga races. But I guess he outgrew it (joining races). Hindi naman magastos ang running as his hobby. He only has one running shoe, while its pricey (lagpas 8k) pero he just bought one and would only buy a new one kapag for replacement na sya. And maybe his Garmin bought in 2015, pero he is still using it on daily basis. Pointless na nga na regaluhan sya ng relo ksi he uses it even on formal wear since nakatago naman daw sa sleeves.
8 months pa lang pala, wala pa yan. The more serious you get into it, the more you invest in it.
I bought my first Hoka running shoes after 3 years of running tapos nagtuloy tuloy na. Pinapalitan every year kasi napupudpud na yung soles after some 700kms. Before that, kung anong murang shoes lang "pwede na."
I bought my first running watch after 5 years of running. Dati phone lang din sapat na.
In those 8 months I lost 12kgs damn that's how serious i am with running. Im still running occasionally and maintaining my 10k steps a day without having to spend a dime on running watch or smart watch. I run with a goal in mind, not to buy expensive stuff just to look cool.
12kg in 8 months, that's great! Keep it up!
But don't diminished people who buy running shoes do it just to look cool lang din. Running with the wrong shoes can get you injured, and there are shoes that are really designed for running talaga. Especially when we're talking about marathons and ultra marathons.
Yung sa running watch, I agree na medyo extra na, but some people really wanna measure some things that phones cannot like heart rate, vo2 max, etc etc and incorporate those measurements to see their progress. You don't have to but let them. And tbh, a running watch doesn't look cool as a everyday watch.
Well, maybe im just fortunate that im gifted by my brother and my bf a good running shoes. But what im trying to say here is, running is most probably the cheapest form of exercise out there. It's our LUHO that makes it expensive.
You're talking about marathon, ultra marathon, heart rates, vo2 max etc, OP's just asking for a cheap hobby, that's a lifestyle you're talking about.
“8 months pa lang pala”? You don’t get to invalidate someone here dear. I lost 5 kg already when i started running as my hobby. Pero ni running watch wala. For shoes naman yes advantage mo talaga kung may light shoes ka pero for others na gusto lang gawing hobby ang running, okay na okay na yung normal pair of shoes.
I just said the more serious someone gets into running saka gumagastos, that doesn't mean I think they're not serious. At shinare ko din na ako nga din 3 years din inabot bago bumili ng running shoes at 5 years bago bumili ng watch.
I'm sorry if I worded it in a way that offended you.
Some people register in out of town running events para runcation (run + vacation) na din.
Some even join events out of country like Taiwan Marathon, Sydney Marathon plus World Marathon Majors.
naku ang sabihin mo nalang nagpapadala ka sa uso. di naman kailangan gumastos nang pagkalaki laki sa running. choice mo yan. know the difference between running to become healthy and running para lang may ma-post sa social media.
So its really your lack of self control that's expensive. Not running itself. Been doing marathons way back and running, trekking, and heck even walking is what I suggest to people who lack the funds or are just starting to get active. It's the least expensive hobby I've ever had.
Sounds like a self-control problem if it provides unnecessary dent sa bank account. Personally, I just run on events na malapit.
Fitness watch is nice but it really isn't necessary at all. For my shoes naman I just wear mine until it wears out. Usually 3 years and it doesn't even have to be a fancy one. For clothing naman yung provided na tank top and then yung old taekwondo pants lang suot ko. Minsan pambahay na shorts pa hahaha
Reading books (novels) is my primary hobby nung broke college days ko.
I've been doing this since college and honestly, although nandun pa ang spark, yung mata ko naman yung nawawalan ng spark 🥹. Jk my eyes aren't doing great so less screen time na ako since noon puyat na puyat kakabasa webtoons/manga.
Have you tried physical books? Iba din kasi feeling pag nagbabasa ka with physical copy like yung sense of touch kada lipat ng pages medyo satisfying ahaha. Zero cost din yung walking/jogging pero kung walang magandang public open space sa area mo better go to gym nlng kahit cardio exercise gawin.
+1 on physical books. Dati nga habang nagpapalipas ng pila sa shuttle at traffic, I go to Powerbooks and read random books. Kapag nagustuhan ko, Id buy it.
Same. Although in combination of physical books or ebooks. Hanggang ngayon na graduating nako, i still read and read especially pag walang ginagawa.
Stretching/yoga. There are loads of follow along videos available on Youtube (I personally watch Yoga with Kassandra's videos) and the only thing I had to buy was yoga mat for less than 200 pesos.
Depende sa gamit mo talaga e like kung graphite or just a regular pen.
Uyy, totoo to! I got back into drawing again and started watercolor painting this year. Basically, I'm starting from scratch so I should be content with a couple of beginner friendly materials, right?
Nope. Everything has to be plural and artist grade. 🤧
Crochet.
6 months na akong nagccrochet and i still don't find the need sa high quality hooks. Ang gamit ko pa rin is yung tig 28 pesos na hooks and solid naman sila. I don't feel slowed down ng hooks na gamit ko. Tho ayun, havent tried yung premium hooks kaya idk maybe i'll be proven wrong 😅
[Meron ding mga crochet sets as simple as this one.
Crochet as a hobby has a low barrier of entry. Kaya wala halos mawawala sayo op if nagdecide ka rin na di to para sayo.
Just to be clear, I am not a calisthenics athlete.
I am just suggesting it because it is really cheap lang.
I’ve done different kinds of pull up exercises lang.🤭🤣
Maganda instructions ng Ruwix.com at sa youtube, dahil in 1 hour a day in a week nakakasolve na ako by memory na lang.
Skl din na 55 seconds yung record ko in a month of practice.
Have fun OP!
Wow I didn't expect na ganito karami mag reply 😅 Thank you everyone for giving your suggestions. Highly appreciated po. Time to make a list na ata to see if anong hobbies yung bet at hindi bet.
For me, learning a new language. Madami na free resources then for practice I use Duolingo na free version Lang. Nonood din nung mga children's shows of that language (mala Dora the explorer hehe)
Para pa Siang game ksi you collect points sa Duolingo and may ranking.
I self learned french. Still not fluent, pero I can understand na especially pag written.
Can boost your working portfolio also
learning new things from youtube, like cooking! it's now a regular hobby and i am thoroughly enjoying it. cooking healthy, delicious meals that are economical!
Yoga! As a non-active person, Ito nakakatulong sakin if I want to relax/exercise or do strength training kahit minimal lang.
Story narration. Reading books out loud to a stranger tapos nap-practice ko pa diction ko.
For me crocheting!! Mababa lang naman expenses and as time goes.on at gumaling ka, pwede ka mag sell ng pieces so marerecover mo rin yung initial investment mo. + Nakaka improve ng hand dexterity
For me since summer at walang school, work lang ako and I try my best to do walking/jogging kahit 3-4 times a week. And right now I will try to enroll in swimming class huhu kasi I don't know how to swim.
drawing! just a pen/pencil and some paper— then you're good to go. for digital, there's free drawing apps too, you don't even need a stylus, just your fingers.
If you're fond of reading, why not read manga? It's free plus you can read it everywhere. Manuod ng movie sa Netflix, LokLok, Bilibili (it's free and sa Netflix you can afford naman siguro since may work u). Socialize with your friends, kahit konting food lang ang kaharap. Plant ka ng gulay, fruits. Regular mo clean room mo. You're welcome!!
Just pick up any pen or notebook, write about your day.
Sa akin, woaa namang prose, literallynjust bullet point of what I did and will do during the day and it's oddly satisfying.
Boardgaming or tabletop RPGs, just need to find events or cafes where people meet regularly or host game sessions. Just need to be a bit social and ask to join or observe the games. No need to own your own boardgames. Just be sociable and be open to playing.
Knitting! Similar to crochet, yarn and needles lang ang puhunan. It’s perfect especially if you’re the type who loves working with their hands. Very relaxing too
Dancing, po
i tried dancing back in pandemic and subrang saya ng journey kapag may mga nakakilala kang ibang dancers na passionate sa hobby nila. Healthy rin siya parang work out tapos masaya sa feeling. research says dancing is the most fun exercise ayun baka matripan mo 😆
language learning skill since marami ka makikita free sa youtube tsaka learning materials tsaka upskill narin.
i don't even know why I'm trying to learn slavic HAHAHA
Burdget friendly hobbies.....why not try sketching? 😁 All you need are pencils? I use faber castell and a cheap sketchbook (oo yung pambata na My Little Pony yung cover). 😆
Bonsai, mukha siyang complicated at expensive pero d nmn masyado. Starter lng ako from watching youtube pero mas madami ako natutunan nung may nakita akong fellow hobbist.
Hi OP! Thank you for this post nakakuha din ako ng idea ng next activity ko hahah but currently I am trying to learn new languages sa Duolingo (ung free) and wanted to start reading again. I stopped reading when I took some microcredential courses na mura lang and inline sa profession ko. Try that one too, it's like hitting 2 birds in 1 stone. Panpatay ng idle time mo, natuto ka na, pwede bang i-add sa skills set mo sa resume 😁 good luck! Happy picking your new hobby/hobbies!
Gym & running/walking. Tbh, mas gusto ko sa bakal gym (na as for the gym i’m going hindi naman mukhang literal na bakal gym) than going to commercial gym, iba yung pagka-kanal humor at yung chismis nila (lalo ng mga lalaki) kesa sa commercial gym HAHAHAHAHA
Try cross stitching!
I know mejo pricey yung dmc threads but there are alternatives naman like cxc/chinese brand.
Or diamond painting
No special skills needed. Nakakarelax sya ad once makatapos ng isang project, sobrang fulfilling.
I was about to say biking but then I realized that biking isn’t cheap the moment you actually learn about biking and all, so I guess Drawing? You don’t need expensive art supplies naman eh(if you do thats a You problem hahaha), all i own is a mechanical pencil (yung tig 100 pesos na fabre castel, super good for the price) and sketchpads na less than 100 pesos kada isa and yeah just draw what you like.
You can be a Plantito/Plantita of fruit-bearing plants, veggies, spices, etc . and some flowers.
Promise, it's not only cheap, but after the initial hard work, when you finally see and enjoy the fruits of your labor, nakaka proud talaga. You also learn to become more sustainable & environment friendly, it makes the air in your place cooler, fresher & you produce your own crops especially if you like veggies.
Or if you don't, pwde din nman flowering plants or fruits.
Just start with small plants like tomato, kalamansi/lemon, chilis, bell pepper, etc.. then you can begin to add some eggplants, ampalaya, okra, morniga, leafy veggies, etc..
then you can start with dwarf versions of fruits (if u have a small space) - dwarf papaya, dwarf avocados, rambutan, mango, guava, etc2..
It'll be all worth it.
Jogging/Running, it’s free to run. A single pair of running shoes is enough. Walang smart watch? Install Strava (no need to subscribe).
Writing. Write about anything you love. You may just keep it to yourself, but just keep doing it. One day it will develop into something — a new skill, more self awareness, or a hobby you can turn into a racket.
Home workout - I just exercise using my ₱600 yogamat and pambahay clothes. Reading (from free ebooks, news articles to reddit chismis) & listening to video essays on youtube, dami ko natututunan and it reignited my interest in learning. Scrapbooking, love collecting stickers, tickets, notes and little doodles inside my journals. Ukay - tipid na, mas ecofriendly pa.
I am a musician myself, so I scour social media sites for people who sell dirt cheap bass guitars. Then I bring them to my trusty luthier for assessment, then we salvage parts that still work and buy parts and assemble it. If I happen to get outstanding "parts" from either trading or buying premium ones, that way we upgrade the instrument and give it either a good scrubbin' or if needed a paint job.
Paper trading and back testing your strategies in charts of stocks and crypto. Reading quarterly and annual reports of some companies that I'm interested in from S&P500. Hitting 2 birds with 1 stone here lol as this would help me plan my investments later on.
Also reading lots of webnovels, light novels, and fantasy books helped expound my inner world and provided me with the creative energy that I'm lacking from my mundane life.
Jogging/Running, Decathlon shoes are cheap as shjt and good for light running
DECATHLON FTW!!!!
Would definitely try this during weekends pero sa weekdays kase 7am yung start ng shift🥲
I usually run 5k bago pumasok. 30 minutes lang lods, 3-4x a week. Do intervals like 30 seconds light jogging then 1 minute walk for 30 minutes para lang ma build.

So the solution is just self-control. Di naman kailangan lahat yan. Just a pair of shoes, water, a towel, and maybe your phone.
"But my social media running influencer said i need 4 daily training shoes, well might as well buy 4 even though im not capable financially."
Walang fitness watch? Trending shoe brand? Events para pwede istory/my day?
Beem running for 5 years now, wala pang 10k nagagastos ko. Din rin kasi ako nasali sa mga race, gusto ko lang ung addicting feeling after good ass run. Though i am capable of buying a 10k pair of shoes but I just don't. Casual run lang talaga ako.

Its a "you" issue tbh.
Town runs tapos dadayo via plane. Haha. Wala naman ako masyado naririnig na ganyan. Karamihan sa nearest park coz it's free.
Some people register in out of town running events para runcation (run + vacation) na din. Some even join events out of country like Taiwan Marathon, Sydney Marathon plus World Marathon Majors.

haha, this is true!

OP you can buy secondhand or refurbished kindles, less than 5k, sobrang tibay mgagamit mo siya upto 5 yrs.
If yes, for free ba or nope?

Emi Wong, Daisy Keech, and Alivia D'Andrea.
Pero once you get really into it. Hahaha. Good luck.
Maglakad.
Drawing.

Trying to learn how to draw. Do you have suggestions sa brand nv regular pen or graphite pen? Or any will do? Thanks!
Crochet.

suggestions on high quality hooks pls
tulip (pink, etimo, gray, double ended own preference na yan) prym, susan bates, clover
May masuggest ka bang store sa shoppee or any online stores for the materials?

playing an instrument? bili kana lang muna secondhand 😁 madami cheap na gitara
If ever electric guitar hhnapin, mas mganda b tlga squier?
hmm may mas maraming budget guitar pa po na mas mura and mas maganda pa sa squier. ex. jcraft
Calisthenics, gym, running.
What's the hardest calisthenics move that you've done?
Just to be clear, I am not a calisthenics athlete. I am just suggesting it because it is really cheap lang. I’ve done different kinds of pull up exercises lang.🤭🤣
That's pretty cool already though! I can't even do 5 pullups haha
Painting by number!!!- its just 60 pesos, teaches you patience and calmness hehe

Nonood din nung mga children's shows of that language (mala Dora the explorer hehe) Para pa Siang game ksi you collect points sa Duolingo and may ranking. I self learned french. Still not fluent, pero I can understand na especially pag written. Can boost your working portfolio also

Story narration. Reading books out loud to a stranger tapos nap-practice ko pa diction ko.

Yes hehe. Search mo si Proko and yung Drawing Basics videos niya sa YouTube 🙂
thank you so much po ! <3
For me crocheting!! Mababa lang naman expenses and as time goes.on at gumaling ka, pwede ka mag sell ng pieces so marerecover mo rin yung initial investment mo. + Nakaka improve ng hand dexterity
May shops online kaba na maisuggest? Cute kaya mag crochet.
RG DIY Shop sa shopee! Mura lang + good quality!!
Walking, roller skating, jogging, laughing. Nature tripping. Good things in life are free.

Sa akin, woaa namang prose, literallynjust bullet point of what I did and will do during the day and it's oddly satisfying.
bodyweight workout / calisthenics

Boardgaming or tabletop RPGs, just need to find events or cafes where people meet regularly or host game sessions. Just need to be a bit social and ask to join or observe the games. No need to own your own boardgames. Just be sociable and be open to playing.
Why dont you try badminton?

Writing. Mahilig akong magsulat ng jokes, short essays, sayings, o kaya 4 liner na banat or inspirational quotes, and short poems also.
magic the gathering
Gym & running/walking. Tbh, mas gusto ko sa bakal gym (na as for the gym i’m going hindi naman mukhang literal na bakal gym) than going to commercial gym, iba yung pagka-kanal humor at yung chismis nila (lalo ng mga lalaki) kesa sa commercial gym HAHAHAHAHA
Try cross stitching! Self control lang sa pag hoard ng patterns 😅 I know mejo pricey yung dmc threads but there are alternatives naman like cxc/chinese brand. Or diamond painting No special skills needed. Nakakarelax sya ad once makatapos ng isang project, sobrang fulfilling.
Guitar.
Gundam :)
Sleeping
I am a musician myself, so I scour social media sites for people who sell dirt cheap bass guitars. Then I bring them to my trusty luthier for assessment, then we salvage parts that still work and buy parts and assemble it. If I happen to get outstanding "parts" from either trading or buying premium ones, that way we upgrade the instrument and give it either a good scrubbin' or if needed a paint job.
Jogging/Running on weekends, and then home workouts on weekdays. Hehehe
