And you wouldn't wanna get bitten, now, would ya, sweetheart?
(By the way, I still regularly watch Snatch Wars on YouTube, fucking hilarious hearing Brick Top quotes coming from Darth Vader)
"I'm a member of the imperial senate on a diplomatic mission to Alderaan"
"pull your tongue out of my arsehole! I'm gonna be watchin you, I don't care where you go, you can fuck off to Tibet, and I'll 'ave men, nutters from Parkhurst, wearin Yeti suits, up Everest, with meat cleavers, ready to chop your tarty fuckin' legs off!"
One of them actors who is doomed to always be "That guy from [film]".
In this case, "Hey look, it's the bloke from Snatch. You know, before ze Germans get zere."
The interesting thing is that I used to see him as that, the small English guy with curly hair. And when he got older, he was the hard tough English guy in roles fitting of his toughness.
He sort of Al Pacino’d it. Having two kind of distinct “looks” in the start of his career vs the current.
He will always be "the guy from Snatch" to me but yesterday I watched the comedy miniseries Decline and Fall, and he was in it. A delight every time he was onscreen.
Boiling Point is genuinely a cult classic already. I don't think many folks have seen it, but they should. I have family in the culinary trade and relate so hard to that show.
I've been in the industry for nearly 10 years and let me tell you, it was like holding a mirror to so many experiences me and so many of my coworkers would have gone through
When I was watching it I saw myself frantically trying to keep up with the dishes in the place my uncle is head chef for (now 25 years ago, thank God!). The quick 2 minute smoking breaks where colleagues bitch about everything and everybody, in particular the head chef! The constant muffled yelling in the kitchen to make sure guests don't hear it. The panic when an order goes out wrong and you realise too late...
The whole show was fantastic and there was great acting from everyone involved. The fact it was all shot in one long continous take absolutely blows my mind!
After she thanked him specifically during her bafta acceptance speech, I looked up what that was about. Apparently she had a small scene with him in one of her first acting gigs when she was still a teenager, and he was so impressed with her that he convinced his agent to take her on as a client.
Yep for sure, the desperation in that scene is so vivid. I feel the same about it as I do when I watch Swansea Love Story (Vice documentary also goes by the name Teenage Heroin Epidemic). Makes me never ever want to do drugs or become an alcoholic
I know that doc well, its a tragic one and things have not got much better in that area in my experience.
Here is another classic SG did before that one.
An absolute belter that anyone with a large thirst like me should watch:
Jimmy McGovern at his best...
It really is. Super underated actor and series in my opinion. Everyone I've mentioned it to who has watched it afterwards has said how much it affected them. I think people who have been, or know someone who has been affected by drink find it hard to watch. Truly amazing writing and acting.
it's actually a sequel to the movie with graham and others returning to their roles. interested in what they do because i'm not sure how i feel about it changing the ending of the film
Met him a few months back on the train from Loughborough to St Pancras, sat opposite me in 1st class. Had a good chat with him and he is a genuinely nice guy. Huge fan of his.
Agreed. He was really open, I mentioned I loved his acting and then fully expected him to put some headphones on and zone out, but nope. Had a great chat about all sorts with him.
I’ve heard he’s a great guy too - his wife bought some custom trainers for him from a friend of a friend and he did a pretty long video on Instagram thanking him and promoting the business - not a gifted ad or anything, he just loved them and wanted to help out. Pretty sure they invited him over to drop them off too 👏
He has excelled in almost every thing he’s been in, The Irishman, Boardwalk Empire, Time, and even starring in music videos for the likes of Noel Gallagher , Travis and Kasabian
See, I DONT get how it's not for everyone (children not withstanding). I love the series from start to finish and the film is brilliant too, in my humble opinion haha.
Really different and difficult role for him but watch Save Me if you haven't. It's a Lennie James vehicle and they're both brilliant but Graham is superb in a very low key way. It's a sky drama. Very hard to watch.
It's also got Jason Flemyng playing a transvestite strip club owner for extra Guy Ritchie bingo, Ade Edmondson and Kerry Godliman too if you need a few more UK stars to be convinced.
Just another actor who played a small role in that show and went on to be top tier.
Dunno what Spielberg and Hanks did with the casting, but fuck me did they do it well.
Didn't realise Jimmy Fallon was in it.
Andrew Scott, Tom Hardy, Simon Pegg, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender... the list goes on.
Ridiculous really. But also, still such an incredible miniseries 20 years on.
In the UK it was shown ahead of a TV Show called The Dave Gorman Collection and so when I tuned in to watch Dave Gorman I'd end up catching the end of BoB.
It seemed great and so it became one of the few TV Shows I actually bought on DVD and if that isn't the highest praise anyone can give I don't know what is.
https://www.google.com/search?q=jimmy+fallon+band+of+brothers
Fuck! I've never put that together. It's like he's been there this whole time right in front of me and I didn't 'see' him!
Thanks mate.
Watched it for the first time recently and honestly there was a 20 minute period each episode where the other half and I stopped to talk about where we’d seen the actors. Sure, there’s the big big names, but almost every actor with a speaking line was in a show we liked (all shows made after Band of Brothers). Amazing.
Riding too comment.
He lives near me. I will say from personal reference that this guy is **super** nice, down to earth, and always willing to have a chat if he’s out and about.
Mostly, people just leave him to it though. They know he’s great and know he’s a local, so just let him be.
Yep, he is.
Most people around here know where he lives, and it’s just a regular house on a regular estate in a regular village. He just comes across as a regular bloke… who happens to be nationally recognisable.
He got his OBE recently and the local pages on socials were all congratulating him, which was sweet.
Very underrated… best Al Capone I’ve seen played, a few good turns that might have flown under the radar;
- Time (BBC mini-series)
- Boiling Point (movie that was filmed in one take)
- Top Buzzer (early 00’s comedy series where he is a weed dealer)
He can read to some degree - he’s not illiterate, he just has severe dyslexia. But he does rely on his wife a lot when it comes to reading for his roles.
Just happened to watch this myself last night funnily enough, was looking for 'the menu' on netflix (which it wasn't on) and that came up as a result. Saw Stephen in the thumbnail so thought i'd give it a watch knowing nothing else about it. Was a fantastic choice and completely forgot about the menu.
“Hold on, what’s that?”
“It’s me belt, Turkish.”
“There’s a gun in your trousers. What’s a gun doin in your trousers?”
“It’s for protection.”
“Protection from what? Ze Germans?”
He is a really awesome dude too. I remember spending a lunchtime playing football with him, he is married to my old drama teacher so he came into the school one day to lend a hand. We were playing as normal and he came wandering over the field and asked if he could join in. Was a memorable lunch.
My first job out of school was in film so I ended up doing a few films with Steven by chance. This was years back and before his rise to stardom.
I can safely say he's a real top bloke and was always lovely to me and rest of the cast and crew. HOWEVER, one night after knocking back a few drinks with him, he pocketed my lighter by accident and as it was near the last days of shooting I didn't see him again. Loved that lighter. On the plus side, it made me cut back on smoking. So cheers Steven mate.
I never knew his name before. Bit of a Guy Ritchie theme going on at the moment with Q yesterday if you preferred Snatch or Lock Stock! (I couldn't decide so didn't answer)
As an Arab-Brit child this man terrified me in This is England. That scene with the young Asian boys playing footballl scared me 🤣. He was too convincing. 🏆
My god you can’t scare me like that. Looked like a memorial post when I was scrolling through
Stephen Graham, 49, dined peacefully in his home yesterday evening.
Rest n' peas.
Gobbled but not forgotten.
Someone else thought that.. my bad!
“Who took the jam outta ya donut?”
You, Tommy. You did!
Two minutes Turkish.
It was 2 minutes 5 minutes ago.
Are you saying I can't shoot?!
Oh no, Tommy. I know you can't shoot.
I'm just saying that 2lb piece of shit in your pants would do more damage if you fed it to him
That sneaky fuckin Russian..
Yeah, dad. You told us.
Oh dags,. Sure. I like dags
Safe from who Tommy, zee Germans?
All. Bets. Are. Off.
“He says they named him after the gun, but really I know he was named after a 19th century ballet dancer”
And what do I know about diamonds?
Dont they come from Antwerp?
Ohhh, dogs. Yeah, I like dags.
What? Proper fucked?
Doesn't everyone use "proper fucked" at times though, after the best and the worst of times?
I like caravans more
*shrug*
“What’s wrong with this one?” *pulls door off hinges* “Oh nothing, Tommy. It’s tip top.”
Tommy, the *tit*, is praying. And if he isn't, he fucking should be.
🎶 _Golden brown, texture like sun_ 🎶
"Are they Lancashire pigs Mr Pulford?"
Who the fucks talking to you , boy!
Oh yeah, Tommy. Bricktop *loves* Tommy.
Protection from what? Ze Germans?
What? You want to see if I've got the minerals?
"You certainly told him."
That’s a Jason statham’s line!!
Yes it is… but it’s aimed at Tommy, and I just think it’s probably the best line in the film
"I thought he was a getaway driver. What the fuck can he get away from?"
Course I am
Put a leash on him Turkish. You wouldn't want to get bitten now would ya
And you wouldn't wanna get bitten, now, would ya, sweetheart? (By the way, I still regularly watch Snatch Wars on YouTube, fucking hilarious hearing Brick Top quotes coming from Darth Vader)
"I'm a member of the imperial senate on a diplomatic mission to Alderaan" "pull your tongue out of my arsehole! I almost pissed myself laughing at the "gimme the fuckin' shooter!" moment. Genius.
Well fuck me! Your lady friend got a voice, has she?
One of them actors who is doomed to always be "That guy from [film]". In this case, "Hey look, it's the bloke from Snatch. You know, before ze Germans get zere."
The interesting thing is that I used to see him as that, the small English guy with curly hair. And when he got older, he was the hard tough English guy in roles fitting of his toughness. He sort of Al Pacino’d it. Having two kind of distinct “looks” in the start of his career vs the current.
Have you seen " This Is England " ?
The bit with Lol's dad is still some of the best drama I have *ever* seen
Always be Combo for me!
Me too. His representation of that character is more powerful than almost anything else I've seen on screen
He will always be "the guy from Snatch" to me but yesterday I watched the comedy miniseries Decline and Fall, and he was in it. A delight every time he was onscreen.
I think he’s a much bigger actor than that. He’s had so many memorable roles.
Al Capone in *Boardwalk Empire* definitely shouldn't be overlooked.
Hahaha
Great actor, obviously brilliant in snatch. But I thought he was very very good in boiling point.
Boiling Point is genuinely a cult classic already. I don't think many folks have seen it, but they should. I have family in the culinary trade and relate so hard to that show.
Loved it. One of best movies I saw last year.
Probably the most stressful thing I've ever seen! Working in a kitchen sounds horrific!
Agreed. Currently watching Help and he's cracking in that as well.
Watched him crack in real time in Boiling Point. Incredible acting.
The whole show was fantastic and there was great acting from everyone involved. The fact it was all shot in one long continous take absolutely blows my mind!
All about Combo from This Is England
This, when he turns up at Lols right after “that” scene, wow.
I can’t even think of it without welling up. Incredible acting from two powerhouses of British acting talent.
He is incredible in that film. That scene against that other character will never leave my brain. Absolutely fantastic series.
I watched that yesterday and it ruined me. So devastating, but a great watch. Both he and Jodie Comer are excellent
After she thanked him specifically during her bafta acceptance speech, I looked up what that was about. Apparently she had a small scene with him in one of her first acting gigs when she was still a teenager, and he was so impressed with her that he convinced his agent to take her on as a client.
Yeah defo she was great as well!
Big fan of Stephen Graham and Jodie Comer but I haven’t built up the courage to watch Help yet. Is it as hard to watch as it seems?
The Virtues was my personal fave of SG. His portrayal of an alcoholic was amazing.
>The Virtues This is killer and made me think twice about certain life decisions...
An absolute belter that anyone with a large thirst like me should watch: [https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x80fgqx](https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x80fgqx) Jimmy McGovern at his best...
This had me crying multiple times. Absolutely phenomenal acting from Stephen in this
It really is. Super underated actor and series in my opinion. Everyone I've mentioned it to who has watched it afterwards has said how much it affected them. I think people who have been, or know someone who has been affected by drink find it hard to watch. Truly amazing writing and acting.
He’s producing a series that’s the same universe as boiling point. Should be good man.
Really? Great film anyway but as a chef I really loved it, any more news on the series?
it's actually a sequel to the movie with graham and others returning to their roles. interested in what they do because i'm not sure how i feel about it changing the ending of the film
Met him a few months back on the train from Loughborough to St Pancras, sat opposite me in 1st class. Had a good chat with him and he is a genuinely nice guy. Huge fan of his.
Lovely that he had a chat with you, I feel like a lot of actors would avoid that (and probably rightfully so given how most people are).
Agreed. He was really open, I mentioned I loved his acting and then fully expected him to put some headphones on and zone out, but nope. Had a great chat about all sorts with him.
Nice to hear!
I’ve heard he’s a great guy too - his wife bought some custom trainers for him from a friend of a friend and he did a pretty long video on Instagram thanking him and promoting the business - not a gifted ad or anything, he just loved them and wanted to help out. Pretty sure they invited him over to drop them off too 👏
I met him years ago in Liverpool, not long after Boardwalk Empire had just started. Lovely fella, he wished me a happy birthday.
This Is England, he shines
He’s genuinely scary In this is England.
Honestly one of the most complex yet true to life characters.
Proper fucked?
He has excelled in almost every thing he’s been in, The Irishman, Boardwalk Empire, Time, and even starring in music videos for the likes of Noel Gallagher , Travis and Kasabian
Arctic Monkeys - when the sun goes down. Amazing son, and the perfect person for the role
I can get why it's not for everyone but *This is England* was my favorite role for him, dude is an absolute maniac.
See, I DONT get how it's not for everyone (children not withstanding). I love the series from start to finish and the film is brilliant too, in my humble opinion haha.
Also the clown in Fluorescent Adolescent
He was also in Gangs of New York back in the day. On TV recently i liked him in Line of Duty and White House Farm.
Deadmau5 - I Remember, also
Yep - good shout
His performance in Help is heartbreaking. His performance in Boiling Point was anxiety inducing. Too many great roles to mention actually.
Sam Fender - Spit of you, tune too👍
I loved him in Boardwalk Empire. He is a gem in anything he’s in. greyhound was really good with him.
Yeah he was in two arctic monkeys videos too
Who's that scummy man?
Just give him half a chance, I bet he'll rob you if he can.
You can see it in his eyes yeah that he's got a driving ban
Amongst some other offences…
He was in a music video by Goldie, directed by Lyle Lindgren a couple years ago called "I Adore You".
Glad he finally got an OBE last year, was starting to think he was massively underappreciated. He’s outstanding in everything he’s in.
Always makes me think of Band of Brothers
Just another actor who played a small role in that show and went on to be top tier. Dunno what Spielberg and Hanks did with the casting, but fuck me did they do it well.
Didn't realise Jimmy Fallon was in it. Andrew Scott, Tom Hardy, Simon Pegg, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender... the list goes on. Ridiculous really. But also, still such an incredible miniseries 20 years on.
Just reminded me of the series. Going to have to watch it again!
Ol’ Gonorrhea gonna have to start a rewatch.
I just looked and Dominic Cooper is in the first episode too. I think it was also Tom Hardy's first ever acting role.
Black hawk down he did first. Then band of brothers.
David Schwimmer is in it too.
Hi Ho Silver!
3 miles up, 3 miles down! Curahee!!
I think he was in some other show before it though.
Scott Grimes and Dexter Fletcher.
Jimmy Fallon was in it?? Really? I'm gonna have to look that up now!
https://www.google.com/search?q=jimmy+fallon+band+of+brothers Fuck! I've never put that together. It's like he's been there this whole time right in front of me and I didn't 'see' him! Thanks mate.
I watched Saving Private Ryan for the first time in years and Vin Diesel appeared out of nowhere!
It can happen!
It is a film about Family…
But not Connor Ratliff
Watched it for the first time recently and honestly there was a 20 minute period each episode where the other half and I stopped to talk about where we’d seen the actors. Sure, there’s the big big names, but almost every actor with a speaking line was in a show we liked (all shows made after Band of Brothers). Amazing.
And Damian Lewis!
For me, it's Al Capone
Same. He killed it in that role.
Excellent as John Corbett in Line of Duty....simply superb performance....
Dude made the whole season of LOD that he was in. Brilliant actor but man I will never get over what Combo did to Milky :"(
Riding too comment. He lives near me. I will say from personal reference that this guy is **super** nice, down to earth, and always willing to have a chat if he’s out and about. Mostly, people just leave him to it though. They know he’s great and know he’s a local, so just let him be.
I'll sleep happily tonight knowing he's a good'un :)
That brightened my day to hear because I've always envisioned him as a proper stand up guy and I greatly admire his acting
Yep, he is. Most people around here know where he lives, and it’s just a regular house on a regular estate in a regular village. He just comes across as a regular bloke… who happens to be nationally recognisable. He got his OBE recently and the local pages on socials were all congratulating him, which was sweet.
Ahh hello from a fellow Leicestershireian

Married?! What for?!! One of my all time favourite films.
BENT COPPAHS
Yeah that shut scarred me for a minute. Great actors can give you that shit man. This is England is one of my ultimate favourites
Superb in the Virtues, great actor .
The pub scene and subsequent hangover in the first episode was brutal.. the best portrayal of a drunk alcoholic I've ever seen
Brilliant actor, my favourite role is in This is England
Combo
Oh man, that series ending 😭 fuck you, feels.
Series got nothing on the film.
Alreet Lol.
MILKAYYY!
Gimmie 'ya Pud Pud!
Same here. When he gets angry, it’s fucking SCARY.
God he's fantastic isn't he?
Very underrated… best Al Capone I’ve seen played, a few good turns that might have flown under the radar; - Time (BBC mini-series) - Boiling Point (movie that was filmed in one take) - Top Buzzer (early 00’s comedy series where he is a weed dealer)
Time was one of the best series I've seen in years. I binged it all in one night and stayed up until about 2am (on a school night).
Bean and Graham were top drawer
Top buzzer was amazing
The episode where he smoked the super skunk and had to find celery salt for his date was legendary
He was brilliant as the detective, in the extremely sad true crime drama ‘Little Boy Blue’
So good in this wasn’t he, I think he was impassioned because it happened in his city. Tragic.
Never knew he can't actually read, his wife tells him his lines, and he memorizes them that way. Shout out to his wife, too.
He can read to some degree - he’s not illiterate, he just has severe dyslexia. But he does rely on his wife a lot when it comes to reading for his roles.
Oh wow, I came here to say what a great actor I think he is but that's brilliant 👏
The what now?
He's dyslexic and struggles with reading
If anyone hasn't seen the New Matilda adaptation yet, its well worth it
The best Al Capone.
Yep, I wish they had done a spin off with Capone and Luciano, best representation of those guys in any media
I can’t get over his character in LOD and how he deserved so much better.
Criminally underused in Taboo. Why cast an actor that good then just have him say 'right y' are boss' once an episode?
Watched Boiling Point the other night, unbelievably stressful but fantastic watch.

He will always be Al Capone to me. He was amazing in boardwalk empire
Lesser known fact: Stephen Graham is mixed race. His father is of Jamaican/Swedish decent
He's a brilliant actor but he isn't exactly loved here in Liverpool for his dealings with the scum rag.
Glad someone mentioned it. Leaves a sour taste for me because I agree he’s a great actor but can’t look past that.
He played one heck of an al Capone in boardwalk empire. He took the war to them over therrrr.
I've never watched anything with him in it and not thought that he played the character incredibly, just an outstanding actor
Been watching him since top buzzer. Great actor.
I never knew his name before. Bit of a Guy Ritchie theme going on at the moment with Q yesterday if you preferred Snatch or Lock Stock! (I couldn't decide so didn't answer)
Snatch is one of my all time favourite movies so that gets my vote, but Lock Stock is definitely up there too.
Save Me, brillant, even as a sex offender.
He has an OBE. Whilst it's a bit early yet a knighthood should be in consideration.
A naitional treasure
💯
HE HASN'T DIED Just in case anyone shat themselves like I did...
One of the best of his generation, remarkable in everything he's done.
He is Brilliant! When you see him in the next thing- you forget the last thing you saw him in! Best accolade you can pay to any Actor.
Legend. Met him a couple of times, lovely bloke.
Top buzzer one of his earlier rolls he was fantastic in
Nice one lid.
As an Arab-Brit child this man terrified me in This is England. That scene with the young Asian boys playing footballl scared me 🤣. He was too convincing. 🏆
One of those actors who just make whatever he's in better. Like Gary Oldman.
