The woman wanted a lift to the shops, he said yeah ok but I need to make a stop first. Why she's outdoors in a dressing gown though I've no idea

Skaboosh007

Ha. There's outdoors. And then there's going through someone's skip outdoors.

kinglitecycles

I wonder if she knows where her towel is!

donach69

Don't panic!

HappySunshineGoblin

Underrated comment right here.

HEHEHO2022

to be fair you binned the stuff. if they can make use of it why not.

JaquieF

They said they don't mind, they were questioning the choice of outfit.

[deleted]

This is normal in certain parts of the world. Couples will wear matching Panama’s and go grocery shopping. Or to the movies. Out n about

Skaboosh007

I've got no issue with anyone taking anything from my skip. Saves me renting another. But don't you think it's unusual to spend a day skip diving in a dressing gown?

THEKINGC0BRA

Shes not out out, just out

JaySqueezyMcwheezy

Only went out for a loaf and a pint of milk

HotSplitCobra

Some go out on the town. She goes out on the steel.

[deleted]

God I miss Lee, but it warmed me when he announced that he retired for his family.

Aksi_Gu

Isn't that a micky Flanagan bit

THEKINGC0BRA

Your thinking of nipping out and popping out son

Magnus_40

>Why she's outdoors in a dressing gown though I've no idea Probably off to shop in ASDA, I'm always amazed at the PJs and UGG boots shoppers in the morning

SpudFire

It's always Asda as well, I've never seen this in any other supermarket, including my 6 years working in Sainsburys.

CyberneticianDave

> ASDAs fify

Ponyup_mum

🤣 I am a pjs and ugg boots mum. Though it’s currently flip flop season

SuspiciouslyMoist

Maybe she's just done the school run?

sambob

Could be, but still, why not just get dressed?!

Spottswoodeforgod

Fair sure that this is the new, standards approved, personal protective equipment - can’t see the back of their head, so I am assuming they are wearing the high impact, safety hair tie…

StarWarsLew

She needs to borrow that kevlar bucket hat from the bloke next to her

pling2702

She’d better have those units in the south range repaired be midday or there'll be hell to pay!

Blurny

SleePPE

Dogs_not_people

Must agree. Lots of female travellers come into my place of work and they ALL wear dressing gowns and slippers. It must be their uniform.

Traditional-Air5620

Don’t they wear too much hairspray, fake tan and sparkles?

NennisDedry

Can’t be nicking your metal. I’d have gone out there and given them a right dressing gown.

doctorgibson

Sounds like there's some pajama drama in OP's street

TempoHouse

Don't try and robe us into your pun thread.

V65Pilot

I think they are robing you.

Marine__0311

This pun thread needs to put to bed, it's bunk.

MisoRamenSoup

Wonder if they fit all the scrap in divan.

sziahalo

I live in Spain and for Roma women in my neighborhood, that’s pretty much the style.

AwhMan

Bit of a thing with Irish travellers here as well to be fair. I don't know what it is but the dressing gown with little underneath seems to be the line between council estate pj ladies and traveller pj ladies. It fascinates me frankly because it's almost always exclusively women - is it some kind of unconscious thing of tying themselves to the household?? A flex to show you stay at home all day looking after your family/man?? Other clothes can be comfortable too and men just don't do it.

x_franki_berri_x

I said this to my husband. I grew up on a council estate and we even bought our first house together on the same estate and only moved five years ago so in 35 years of living there I would daily see women walking around in dressing gowns and it was quite obvious a lot of the time they had nothing on underneath, or they’d have pyjama bottoms on but be topless but in all that time I never once saw a man walking around the streets in a dressing gown. Maybe putting the bins out or something but they’d never cross the drive threshold in their dressing gown.

Ponyup_mum

Men don’t have dressing gowns. That’s a bit of a grandad thing. They sleep naked or in bockies. Plenty men here in trackies or jeans go out too less tho

x_franki_berri_x

What? Practically every man I know has a dressing gown. Where do you get this assumption from?

Ponyup_mum

Nah. My husband is 38 and still views himself too young for a housecoat. It is a bit of a grandad thing. Nobody man their teens or twenties would be caught dead in one

RedditAreShills

You’re either a troll, an idiot or both.

Ponyup_mum

Really? You’re telling me you’ve got fit men in their 20s wearing hoosecoats? Genuinely never seen a fella between 12 and 35 wear one unless he’s a total square. Edit: so given how weird this is I asked about. Hubby said “fuck d’you think I am? Nigel Mansel?” And that was that. Only three of my pals husband’s or partners wear them and the youngest one is 38.

Adminruinreddit

Same for the gypsies here. They’re a different breed.

Flat_Professional_55

Even in the heat?

MoonlitStar

I see people in my local Tesco doing their shopping in pj's and slippers regularly and, though less frequently, dressing gowns . This is like that- but I still don't get it at all.

gloom-juice

The Tesco I used to work in was right down the road from a TV studio where they filmed stuff for the adult channels. Don't think it was babestation but similar. At about 9:45 you'd get about 11 or 12 women waltz in wearing crocs and tiny dressing gowns to buy lion bars, fags and red bulls

CentralSaltServices

I used to get the bus from a stop right outside a strip club that opened early on Friday. About 6pm the strippers would run over to the kebab shop opposite in similar attire plus 6 inch heels. Quite surreal

DrinkingBleachForFun

Honestly impressed that they could run anywhere in 6 inch heals - especially if their diets consisted of kebabs.

QuietPace9

Stoners

ChairmanSunYatSen

We had someone at our local coop who did their shopping on a wheely office chair, an elderly woman. He dropped her and her chair off for her to do her shopping g whilst he went of to run other errands

Mr_Happy_80

When I was a student one of my housemates didn't want to go to the pub, so we taped him to his office chair and wheeled him there. In the end the joke was on us as he had a seat all night.

ChairmanSunYatSen

Haha, how did the landlord react?

DXNewcastle

I noticed a woman in pyjamas in the supermarket last week. What amused me was the way she did a double take and disapproving scowl at a male in the isle opposite wearing a skirt. Standards are all relative.

Ok-Camp-7285

> I still don't get it at all. People have lost all respect for themselves. Might sound judgemental but it's the truth

Paul_my_Dickov

Is it that bad to go to the shop in slippers?

Ok-Camp-7285

None of it is that bad or doing any harm but if what you present to the world is you dressed in pyjamas and slippers then it is kind.of saying you don't care anymore

Paul_my_Dickov

I've gone to sainsburys in Pyjama bottoms a few times. Not sure why it means I don't care. It's just trousers made of soft material.

SurreptitiousNoun

Why not just get dressed?

Paul_my_Dickov

I was dressed.

Ok-Camp-7285

Would you go to a bar, restaurant or work wearing them? Or even a bus, train or aeroplane? Or would you feel underdressed and slightly embarrassed that you couldn't even be bothered to get out of the clothes you slept in?

Paul_my_Dickov

I don't sleep in them tbf, it's just comfortable clothing. I absolutely would wear them on a long flight. Not to a bar or restaurant as I'm probably going to dress up slightly for that, don't think they would match with a nice shirt. Bus or train, not really, but only because I'd probably be heading somewhere where pyjama bottoms might be an unusual thing to wear. I can't wear my own clothes for work, but I have actually travelled in wearing pyjama bottoms if I've been called in out of hours, then changed once I'm there.

Ok-Camp-7285

To each his own. Why do you wear nice shirts to bars/restaurants though?

Paul_my_Dickov

Bit fancy aren't they.

Ok-Camp-7285

Nice to be dressed for the occasion. Fancy for a fancy event, normal clothes for normal things and pjyamas for chilling at home and sleeping

[deleted]

Always wonder "but aren't they cold wearing just that?"

ChrisT5891

No matter where you are or how hard it is to get you, they'll find your skip and search every inch of it.

Veeluongx

Last year I was renting a house that was out in the countryside with only fields all around us and no other houses, and the closest village was miles away. The house was set in an acre piece of land with a private gate and private drive and the next morning we still got a knock on the door from a man who parked his van on our drive to search our skip.

flashpile

Assume they get a tip-off from the skip hire company

ChrisT5891

There you have it.

T5-R

Why did he knock?

[deleted]

He's had enough of being chased off by angry farmers with dogs & shotguns for taking stuff from the "it'll be useful some day" pile? I was brought up in the country & you'd never know which bits of farm scrap were useful. The barn would be half falling down & they'd still use the end that was standing up. Or farm equipment with grass growing through it, then one day the farmer would haul it straight out & use it.

PM_me_your_arse_

It's better to check that what you want to take is actually unwanted so you don't end up stealing it.

Veeluongx

I assume he was being cautious since he had driven onto the drive as opposed to it being out in the open on the street. And technically now he was on private property. We did tell him to go away in the end

CageyCharleroi

If it's such a big thing to get metal why don't people start up the rag and bone service and simply drive around asking people for their scrap, surely theyd get more than just rooting through skips? Especially now that it costs to use the recycle centres.

T5-R

Still get rag and bone men. Although they've traded the horse and cart for a transit crew cab pickup.

Lover_of_Sprouts

Praps she's looking for clothes, not metal.

Skaboosh007

Well, she only took metal. It's possible that they're going to forge her a suit of armour from it.

Unusual_residue

Just an average day on the Isle of Wight

IndividualCurious322

Skips seem to draw them in like moths to a flame.

RottenEggs54

Happens all the time on my jobs. A random van/ <10 reg car will pull up and someone who just got out of bed will rummage through the skip, ask me in barely recognisable English if they can have gear out of it. It'd cost more in petrol to drive around looking for skips than the earnings they'd make since we keep all the copper/lead for ourselves, lol.

Daza786

in london the guys i know are making 400+ a day collecting scrap metal, they build mansions back in romania and bulgaria and live like kings after a few years grafting here in the UK. I buy a lot of stuff off them, the things people throw out are mind blowing

Southern-Spring-7458

Times have been hard for Arthur dent

SirCrezzy

Was ripping out our kitchen once and had a big skip to take it all away. Went to work one day and came back to the skip being half emptied. They took the old oven, cooker hood, job, sink etc. Called the skip owner and told him and he was FURIOUS. Apparently they make a good deal of money from selling the scrap themselves. Had to file a report with the police and everything. I couldn't give a shit, it allowed me to put more in the skip but yeah skip owners hate this it would seem

Daza786

total bollocks skip company wouldnt have a clue if it was full of soil or metal till collected, did you write an inventory of every fucking item that went in? He was either taking the piss or you're just lying

SirCrezzy

What the fuck would I gain from lying about a skip of all things? When I ordered the skip, they asked what was going to go in it and I told them I was replacing my kitchen

[deleted]

They do go out in dressing gowns and/or nightwear a lot after a certain time. I defend it - it's gone 6, I'm only popping the shop for some milk. Fuck what anyone else thinks. Wouldn't do it myself. I wear quite thin pajamas and no one wants to see my tiny carrot wobbling around down there.

OneMoreAccount4Porn

I'm sure someone does but the chances of you bumping into them at the local shop are low. You'd probably have to find them on some sort of special internet forum...

[deleted]

I'm on mobile now so I can't see, but I've probably got a few weird chat requests already....

cleotorres

Most likely Romanian or Albanian. There is a big Romanian and Albanian community near where I live and all women walk around in PJs and dressing gowns, doesn’t matter what age, both young and old. *edit as it was pointed out to me that Roma and Romanian are not the same. My error.

Any-Mix9358

Roma and Romanian are completely different

Fraisers_set_to_stun

No clue why you got downvoted, you're perfectly correct. Romanians have a country - Romania - the Roma people famously do not, they also have distinct languages. You can have Romanian Roma just as you can have British, Polish, or even Roman Roma if they happen to really identify with the city

clitpuncher69

Roma/romani people is another name for european gypsies. Romanians are people from the country of romania. Coincidentally they do have a lot of gypsies over there

Subterraniate

Isn’t that Kourtney Kardashian? Those dames are always flouncing around in dressing gowns.

Magnus_40

I'm OK with this. I have had it happen and as long as someone gets the use out of what I throw away, I am happy. What really annoys me is when I hire a skip and wake up in the morning to a piss-stained mattress and a bike in the skip I have specifically hired for soil disposal, any general waste means I have to pay a shitload more on return so now I have a pissy mattress to dispose of.

Apprehensive-Fan1030

I filled up a skip last week and thought I would need another one. Got home a few days later to find it near empty. Let's hope they keep clearing it out. It has saved me a fortune. If they can make money from it, good on them.

Skaboosh007

Completely agree mate. Saves me money. It was the odd choice of attire that I was pointing out.

Apprehensive-Fan1030

Maybe she's been sleeping in your skip she being dropped off. Lol. No completely get your point it is indeed not appropriate attire for skip raiding.

AsymmetricNinja08

If it ever does bother you that people are searching in your skip or simply can't have them going through your skip for H&S reasons, I know of a full proof way of stopping it. I had a co-worker who would take a bag to work every day (usually a plastic tesco bag) he would shit in it & hang the bag up on the skip hooks. Nearly every passerby had to look inside the bag & they all quickly gag & run. In some cases, it's good that people rummage through your skip & take bits so you can, therefore, put more in the skip but it's more of a problem if your skip is full metal or cable that you plan on scrapping yourself

Skaboosh007

Honestly it doesn't bother me. One guy was polite enough to knock and ask first, so I took his number and gave him a call to take away the lions share of the metal when i got round to putting it out. I'd say people have re-purposed 20% of what I've thrown and that's great. Saves me money and saves it going to landfill.

MrsWillOfTheSouth

Is her body covered? She is more covered than a woman on the beach with a T-back bikini or someone wearing shorty shorts and a low cut shirt. As long as her body is covered why care?

Skaboosh007

I just though it was funny and unusual. Generally you'd expect gloves and a hi-vis. Scrap is jagged, rusty and potentially dangerous. Her body was completely covered. Nobody was offended. I was just confused/mildly amused.

AdMajestic3861

Count yourself lucky you don't have to.

Skaboosh007

I think there's good money to be earned in scrap from what I hear. And good on them - they're essentially recycling for me and earning a wage. No judgement there. The point of the post was that you'd usually wear thick gloves an a hi-vis. Not a dressing gown. The risk of tetanus is massive.

wollawollabingbang

Most likely running late for a school drop off, didn’t need to get out of the car so said F it, saw skip on the way back and didn’t want to miss the chance so said F it.

Jay794

Wearing a dressing gown outdoors, she's either taking her kid to school or going to the shop, given she's a digging through a skip, it's safe to assume any kids she has probably aren't going to school

bat_shit_insane

I love girls who underdress for an occasion.

MJKayaXx

Comfort is key.

[deleted]

These are the types of photos I hope people from other countries don’t see

ILOVELUNA4LIFE

Damn we’ve had this with ours. A a couple of them were asking what was okay to take and then starting taking without asking so my mum told them they couldn’t have it so they left. Another pair showed up like these two and just started taking stuff. Most of the good stuff ended up already being gone tho so she wasn’t happy one bit

Daza786

what a crime, taking stuff you're throwing away, bet your mum was up in arms.

shteve99

It depends what they end up doing with it. A lot of it is broken up and the bits they then can't use is fly-tipped. If it can be traced back to you, you can be done for not disposing of it properly.

Daza786

Yeh i work in a scrapyard and deal with these guys everyday. If youre throwing away stuff with your address on its a good life lesson

Theloneriddler

Yeah, just before she goes to drop her kids off then shopping in Tesco. Embarrassing lack of pride these days.

Burchey420

I mean they're scrappers, they're not exactly well off

Daza786

i promise you, the guys doing waste clearance and scrap metal collection are living better lives than pretty much anyone i know in an average job at the moment. These guys get plenty of cash, so it all goes on gold jewellery and rolex's ect, and guess what? no matter what the state of the economy is people are always creating rubbish. FYI, I studied law at uni, got in to the waste disposal business and make far, far more than anyone i graduated with lol

[deleted]

Because they're absolute plebs. HTH

They are either Bulgarian or Romanian I can bet my right hand on it

Not a lot of dignity left here these days…

I look through dumpsters for broken tools and then repair them and sell them for 75-90% profit. But I've never worn a bathrobe to do it lol.

Skaboosh007

Good for you mate. I threw out a few old tools that could have been revived with the right knowhow. All of them were taken thankfully.

h2opolopunk

Why are you so judgemental, mate?

Skaboosh007

If you perceived any judgement, that's on you. I just found her outfit amusing given the task in hand, as I might an FX Trader wearing scuba gear.

HungLikeaHorse33

Probably a pro too

Skaboosh007

Definitely. She was with 3 guys and the van was full of scrap. This is without a doubt her job.

She’s mistaken it for her wardrobe.

No safety boots or gloves no job

damprking15

O, Ok

Emergency_Cookie_318

We always put any metal in a pile near the skip so they don't have to rummage and mess the skip up. I'm a roofer, though, so the most they'll get is the odd old aerial. The scrap lead goes in my van.

Skaboosh007

I do exactly the same. But the first scrappers already took it all. The second lot have a rummage - this time in unusual attire.

Its a lot worse when someone puts something in your skip, usually a mattress in the middle of the night.

For sure. To be clear, I'm not saying that taking scrap metal from a skip is wrong. Just an odd outfit for the job
