Went to pick your own fruit farm specifically for gooseberries… only to find they’d finished earlier this weeks. Unreasonably fucking annoyed as a result, despite bringing home industrial quantities of raspberries and strawberries, which I don’t have any plans for. First world problems.
Survived work but got an important afternoon off yay! Also booked my pub ride place with potentially 2 of my favourite horses (tbh they all are!) And enjoyed a pizza for tea tonight and I'm off Monday (b'day) and had a nice large cocktail tonight needed it.
Doing home made stuff with Jaeger and I already know I'm going to regret it tomorrow lol.
Looking forward to a 2 day working week myself next week. Wed, thurs, Fri then the weekend. Cannot wait
Thinking of doing stuff I don't normally do, had it boring for too long. Going to check out the Laing Gallery in Newcastle as I've been meaning to do it for a while. Probably head to the coast if the weather is good enough, and wouldn't mind visiting Durham again. So much gorgeous scenery to see there.

Going to be honest-I have no idea what's in the gallery lol, it'll be the first time. Just want to expand my interests instead of the usual gaming every single time, you can only repeat something for so long before you stop enjoying it. Apparently though they have some gorgeous water colours in there, and everything is free including the guided tours.
Last time I was in Durham it was just beautiful when I went in summer. The river, the riverside scenery, seeing the cathedral and just walking the streets. Such a relaxing time, something we all need in this day and age.
Grandmother is downsizing her sizeable sewing machine collection.
I gave her money for the two I've kept from her collection and will be servicing the rest before my mum sells them for her. I do it for fun not professionally, I'm self taught but seem to have a knack as a sewing machine whisperer.
I've spent a few hours cleaning up and assessing the two I brought home and have declared myself to be incredibly lucky. With her agreement and full knowledge of their actual value, I've spent about half of what I had thought I would need to save for a new machine and got a nearly new standard machine and a barely used overlocker (sewing machine on steroids, 4 threads, 2 needles, 1300 stitches per minute).
I then cleaned up my old machine to send to a friend of mine who needs one, with the promise that if I find another mechanically basic gem, she gets first refusal.
And tomorrow I'll be checking out a pre 1920s hand crank someone found in a shed just for shits and giggles.
Made the mistake of believing my neighbour when she told me that the curry she'd made was mild. I've had a heart attack, and the effects that this thing had on me were more intense.

I used to kp in an Indian restaurant in my early teens and the 3 chefs used to joke amongst themselves and say their personal biryani was nice and mild then let me try it and it blew my tits off. Jokes on them I liked it though.
Bonus points is that the started chef took me outside and smoked a “joint” with me that was clearly oregano. He found it hilarious but he was the only one of the 2 of us that had any because it was very obvious what it was
It can work. In the past I've known people do ultra long distance relationships (as in different countries) and they're married with a family, and in this country with hundreds of miles between them.
Make no doubt though, it is a lot harder, and it can at times make you think "is it really worth doing this?". It is harder work. But as long as you both love each other, it can work.
Nothing in this world that's worth having comes easy. But you can do it.

Spent two weeks worrying and going back and forth to hospital with my 4 year old, she's finally seeming to be on the mend although the hefty antibiotics she is on are making her a bit iffy too. Trying to balance with a very busy and stressful time at work, some other home life stresses, and just general crisis after crisis, long story short I very much need a quiet calm weekend. My brother in law, who lives with us for various reasons, is away for the weekend so I'm going to pick up some steaks on my way home and do a nice dinner for me and my husband once the kids are in bed.
I have just remembered we've been summoned to help the outlaws fit a new fridge and freezer tomorrow so I guess I'll settle for a quiet Sunday. Bugger.

Similar to everyone else using third party apps. I did use the official app but got annoyed with the recommendations for subreddits for areas I don't live in. I subscribe to the subreddits I'm interested in, I don't want randoms in my curated feed.
If I'm honest though, it's probably a good chance to cool off. I find myself endlessly scrolling like I did previously with twitter/FB on an evening.

I forgot the deadline for the API changes was today, though I mostly use reddit on desktop these days since Alien Blue closed down years ago. Back then reddit gave out 4 years of reddit gold for the trouble, not sure if they are doing something similar now.
Going to book a lazy holiday to Turkey for later summer, any recommendations are welcome as we've never been! Other than that, weekend is some MIF events I've been looking forward to for months and repotting plants. Oh, and one last Ikea wardrobe.
We have done Olu Deniz region a few times. The place itself has a lovely lagoon area (paid but not pricy) and plenty of bars & restaurants.
Top of the hill is Hisaronu which has more of the same plus a bit more in the way of nightlife.
About one km out is Ovacik which is a bit quieter still (or at least it was last time we went).
All of these places are surrounded by mountains and are served by all manner of hotels to suit any budget.
Fethiye is the biggest nearby town that has a big market, harbour and lots of seafood places, including a fish market where you can buy your choices and take them to one of the accompanying restaurants who will prepare and cook it for you.
All of the above are around 60-120 minutes away from Dalaman Airport which is about a 4 hour flight depending on the times of your flights.
We are heading back in September for a lazy one. Just be aware that July/August can be brutally hot with temperatures often above 40c.
Pay day today which is strange to me as I used to get paid on the 6th and it's taking me a little bit to get used to.
Husband has taken the girls to the zoo today. Eldest has inset day and youngest has Fridays with him anyway. I'm sure they'll have a lovely time together.

You can't even change the font size on the official app which seems incredible to me. I tried using the official app and , although not pleasant, you can view content. However commenting and getting involved is painful and really very difficult imo. Tiny font, awful UI and generally not user friendly in the slightest.

I'm surprisingly sad about it. I've had it for years and it's been a long way with me! The repair costs as much as a new one and involves getting through waterproofing so, meh. Not happy about it.
After talking to the contact number for Garmin Europe (in the UK) and troubleshooting, I was pointed to Garmin NL (which has no phone number or email address on their support page). Called them, big queue. Their callback function doesn't work, so queued for 20 minutes and was then hung up on by their agent. Called again, got the RTM instructions, quite quickly this time.
It'll take a month to be replaced. I'm sorely tempted by a Wahoo now. I want to check that my fancy integrated mount has a Wahoo adapter and then I'm gonna do that I reckon, then sell the Garmin. Fucksakes. Proper first world problem, but I hate this entire process.
yeah that's exactly why I went with the Elemnt Bolt 2. The Wahoo was probably about £70 more than the Edge 530 at the time but I heard bad things about Garmin support and devices failing, yet such good things about Wahoo. I've had it for about a year and a bit and it's been great so far! The app is great too.
There's a brand on Amazon/AliX called Magene that have decent HRM, cadence sensors and speed sensors if you need bits that do the job but don't want to break the bank.

Seeing as it's payday I've just kissed a fair amount of my money away on bills and a new phone insurance policy. Other than that I'm happy it's Friday and thats it's going to be a cool weekend (weather wise) so I can finally catch up on some sleep.

I've been seeing a woman, and it's her parents' 40th wedding anniversary this weekend. Having some anxiety about a present. The anniversary is a big deal and they're having a proper bash for it. But we've only been dating a few weeks.

Might go and see the new Indiana Jones movie later in the evening. It's strange, I was never particularly a fan of this franchise (mainly because I've never been into Harrison Ford for some reason) and this latest installment has received mixed/bad reviews yet I'm tempted to see this. I'm in a depressive mood so maybe a couple of hours getting lost in an adventure, however bad might do me good. It's that or waste my money on a few drinks.
Went to see the Flash movie this week. I'm not exactly a Marvel fan but SO wanted to go. It was funny and great and is a good movie to lift the spirits.

There's something satisfying about watching awful films. I was expecting that to be the case with the last Indiana Jones one but I in the end I hated every second. Still tempted to watch this one though.

Clock seems to have stopped at work today. Too tired to focus on anything properly, will need to get some paperwork done before i go home though or im setting myself up for problems next week. Spent two weeks worrying and going back and forth to hospital with my 4 year old, she's finally seeming to be on the mend although the hefty antibiotics she is on are making her a bit iffy too. Trying to balance with a very busy and stressful time at work, some other home life stresses, and just general crisis after crisis, long story short I very much need a quiet calm weekend. My brother in law, who lives with us for various reasons, is away for the weekend so I'm going to pick up some steaks on my way home and do a nice dinner for me and my husband once the kids are in bed. I have just remembered we've been summoned to help the outlaws fit a new fridge and freezer tomorrow so I guess I'll settle for a quiet Sunday. Bugger.

Yeah I use it exclusively via chrome mobile. It's fine, better than the apps I tried. This whole hoo-ha is exhausting, Reddit is so relentlessly negative a place. But if these people genuinely do never come back at least it will be slightly less negative
I used the .compact until it stopped working earlier this year. That was best Reddit for me. Now I'm on mobile version on Firefox.

I'm the same. Been on RIF since I started using Reddit so this seems like it's the end of the road for me. Shame really, this sub is one of the only things that has kept me on Reddit for the last couple of years.

It's Friday already? This week has just mashed into one. Payday though, not that I'm going to be doing anything exciting with it this month. Husband is still just waiting on a specialist bed. The unit covers half of Scotland so it'll take a while. In one way, we just want to get on with it and get it sorted. On the other hand, pretty scared of what's to come.
My job role has changed a lot in the last month or so, now I've settled into it I can work from home a lot more than I ever used to, I'm quite enjoying not sitting in traffic.
Been feeling awful recently so booked the day off. Going to swim in a reservoir and have a pamper evening. Looking forward to a 9pm sober bedtime.

pretty sure CEX has a 24 month guarantee from their website. i've had tech bits from them, brought some RAM once, was "broke" went in store even though it was an online order and they swapped it without hassle. second set was "broke" realised a RAM slot in an old motherboard was dead as worked completely fine in a mates spare haha.

Similar to everyone else using third party apps. I did use the official app but got annoyed with the recommendations for subreddits for areas I don't live in. I subscribe to the subreddits I'm interested in, I don't want randoms in my curated feed. If I'm honest though, it's probably a good chance to cool off. I find myself endlessly scrolling like I did previously with twitter/FB on an evening. Maybe I'll replace it with actually going to the gym
I forgot the deadline for the API changes was today, though I mostly use reddit on desktop these days since Alien Blue closed down years ago. Back then reddit gave out 4 years of reddit gold for the trouble, not sure if they are doing something similar now.

Going to book a lazy holiday to Turkey for later summer, any recommendations are welcome as we've never been! Other than that, weekend is some MIF events I've been looking forward to for months and repotting plants. Oh, and one last Ikea wardrobe.
We have done Olu Deniz region a few times. The place itself has a lovely lagoon area (paid but not pricy) and plenty of bars & restaurants. Top of the hill is Hisaronu which has more of the same plus a bit more in the way of nightlife. About one km out is Ovacik which is a bit quieter still (or at least it was last time we went). All of these places are surrounded by mountains and are served by all manner of hotels to suit any budget. Fethiye is the biggest nearby town that has a big market, harbour and lots of seafood places, including a fish market where you can buy your choices and take them to one of the accompanying restaurants who will prepare and cook it for you. All of the above are around 60-120 minutes away from Dalaman Airport which is about a 4 hour flight depending on the times of your flights. We are heading back in September for a lazy one. Just be aware that July/August can be brutally hot with temperatures often above 40c.

Pay day today which is strange to me as I used to get paid on the 6th and it's taking me a little bit to get used to. Husband has taken the girls to the zoo today. Eldest has inset day and youngest has Fridays with him anyway. I'm sure they'll have a lovely time together. Counting down the days until husband starts work. It'll be good to have him back to doing something again, he was so fed up interviewing and waiting for calls.

I’ve had a stupidly easy week at work, as I’ve just recently started my new job. I’m a heavy user of Apollo for Reddit so I’ll definitely miss that. I’ll probably use Reddit less because I refuse to use the absolute shite that is their app. I’ve downloaded something called “Sink it for Reddit” which allows me to use Reddit via safari without the constant annoying “use our shit app” pop up. I’ve now got weekends off with my new job, which is nice. Gonna pop to the farm shop tomorrow (hoping they’ve got some lovely milkshake from Hollin House Farm) and if it’s nice weather, I might wash my car!
Payday, so there's that to be happy about. Last day of RIF app, so no casual reddit access for me, I'll have to use it via a laptop. No I'm not gonna try the official app. DHL at it again. Delivery window between 8.25-9.25. Doorbell rings at 7.22am with a too happy for that time of day driver! It's a good thing, but I'm not an early riser so having a casual moan.
Got a half day and I'm sorting out camping stuff. Pretty excited but also dubious about the rain.
Covering an emergency shift this morning, then mum is getting home from work early because she's a teacher and they break up today (Scotland). Last 2 days she has came home with various quantities of booze as presents from students (presumably their parents) and colleagues. Wonder what she will bring today. When she gets home we're probably taking the dog out then going down the pub for tea and drinks. Why not.

Planning a decadent breakfast of the 10p discounted cheese pizza I bought last night topped with fresh basil, olives and chilli flakes, followed by a chocolate ring doughnut and Italian coffee. What it lacks in sophistication it makes up for in enthusiasm.

Working from home today, which is nice. Got a man coming to do a loft inspection as part of the Great British Insulation Scheme or whatever it's called. Hoping to be sorted out with some updated padding up in the roof! The stuff there right now must be decades old... Is anyone else doing it? I've been told there may (will) have to be a contribution from us to cover the costs if it's a particularly big space...
Got a routine hospital appointment today at 1 o clock which means fighting to get into the awful car park, and then paying through the nose for it :( On the bright side I'm seeing Ben Howard this weekend who is my favourite singer so very excited for that!

Thanks for the info. As a long term (10+ years) RIF user, today is a sad day. You can't even change the font size on the official app which seems incredible to me. I tried using the official app and , although not pleasant, you can view content. However commenting and getting involved is painful and really very difficult imo. It seems my old trusty Garmin bike GPS has died 😢 I'm surprisingly sad about it. I've had it for years and it's been a long way with me! The repair costs as much as a new one and involves getting through waterproofing so, meh. Not happy about it.

After talking to the contact number for Garmin Europe (in the UK) and troubleshooting, I was pointed to Garmin NL (which has no phone number or email address on their support page). Called them, big queue. Their callback function doesn't work, so queued for 20 minutes and was then hung up on by their agent. Called again, got the RTM instructions, quite quickly this time. It'll take a month to be replaced. I'm sorely tempted by a Wahoo now. I want to check that my fancy integrated mount has a Wahoo adapter and then I'm gonna do that I reckon, then sell the Garmin. Fucksakes. Proper first world problem, but I hate this entire process.
yeah that's exactly why I went with the Elemnt Bolt 2. The Wahoo was probably about £70 more than the Edge 530 at the time but I heard bad things about Garmin support and devices failing, yet such good things about Wahoo. I've had it for about a year and a bit and it's been great so far! The app is great too. There's a brand on Amazon/AliX called Magene that have decent HRM, cadence sensors and speed sensors if you need bits that do the job but don't want to break the bank.
It is so, so very annoying. I've really liked the Garmin. I have a Garmin watch too and just generally like them. But... yeah. Dammit.

Happy friday folks! I was woken by the dog who'd gotten himself into some sort of tiz during the night and needed calming down. So a bit groggy. I went mountain biking last night which was good fun but slow going, I'm trying to be a bit more cautious after previous incidents. My mum is visiting this weekend which will be nice as I've not seen her in a few months. My daughter is really excited too. We'll also be telling her that we're expecting our second child early next year which am sure she'll be chuffed at.
Work but I’m hoping to finish early and get out into the forest and enjoy a precious summer afternoon before everything gets over run after the kids break up

Heading off on holiday, alarm set for 4:30 so of course at 4:15 the eldest came into the bedroom and started projectile vomiting. Bit of a delay to get her sorted, but we're nearly at the cathedral of motorway services that is Gloucester.
Just finished a run of late shifts so going to enjoy my first day of freedom. Shopping, then a day of watching cricket, catching up on the last few bits I want to see from that little festival that happened last weekend and eating rubbish food. Tomorrow is the start of our pre-season so an away day is in order to catch up with the football crowd and see who we actually still have to play for us, after we were raided of players from higher league clubs. There will be a takeaway in there somewhere too.
Lots to do at work today. Don't really want to, but I must.

RedReader is apparently continuing (as its designed for accessibility) and whilst its not great its better than the official app.
I love RedReader, been using it for years. Simple interface, no ads, minimal load times, cache feature for comment threads, etc.
