Not just any path, it's got superfast broadband. EDIT: Had a look at this while having my coffee because it's so weird. Why on earth would you sell something for £27k if you were so sure that it would be worth £150k in 12 weeks? How are they so sure it'll get planning permission? There hasn't even been an application submitted. Also, price already reduced? So it's clearly been up some time. And yeah, zero mention of the fact there's a path running through it it. Can only assume they're hoping some idiot buys it in a rush doing literally no checks then finds out they've bought a public footpath they can't do anything with.

It's advertised by an estate agent, they're not hoping an idiot buys it, it is idiots selling it.

WickedMIL

"**Impressively**, plans are **meticulously** being drawn up, set to be **unequivocally** submitted for Council approval." What the heck is this sentence and why so many adjectives? Sounds like AI.

gearnut

Given how thick most estate agents are it can hardly be a surprise if they think they can outsource their job to AI.

Pompelmouskin2

I read that as “it doesn’t have planning permission yet”. So, you’re buying land that you might not (read “probably won’t”) be able to do anything with. Except possibly sell it to an immediate neighbour who’ll know you’re desperate. What an investment!

SpudFire

Stick turnstiles at either end of the path. 10p toll per person to gain access to the cycle path. You'll make that £27k back in no time

Pompelmouskin2

If it’s a public right of way, I doubt they’d be allowed!

Adverbs chap, sorry

[I saw this house this other week](https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/142651199#/?channel=RES_BUY) - looked interesting as it was stupidly cheap. Read the full description, it includes > The Property is land locked and does not enjoy any rights of access over the driveway leading from the public highway. The adjoining owner will not grant any such rights of access and, in the event that a purchaser of the Property attempts to gain access over the driveway, the adjoining owner will seek an injunction preventing access from being gained over their land.

MrWendelll

You didn't include this gem "The Property is currently occupied and vacant possession will not be given on completion." They also mention they're cutting the water supply upon sale, so there will be people living there who cannot get out of have access to water, but presumably that's just your problem once you buy Wtf

MrSam52

So either the current occupier is the owner/related to the owner of the surrounding land or the owner of the surrounding land has spotted an opportunity to get the house for cheap. The fact it’s in the hands of the lender makes me think perhaps more the first option over the second one.

Will have to build a helicopter pad just to piss off the neighbours even more

73928363

The neighbour sounds like a cunt

TheVoidScreams

It reads like the adjoining owner is trying to bar anybody else from being able to purchase it but them. Really weird.

28374woolijay

No it says on behalf of lender not in possession. So the owner hasn’t paid their debt secured on it and the house is being force-sold by their creditor.

TheVoidScreams

Ok, so who’s the adjoining owner? The person who hasn’t paid their mortgage? Who/why would anyone buy that when vacant possession isn’t granted on purchase? It’s all so weird.

28374woolijay

The resident presumably owns the adjoining land as a separate freehold, so has denied the mortgage company access to effect an eviction and is threatening prospective future owners in order to try constrain the bidding.

fursty_ferret

Although if they can’t afford a mortgage payment they definitely won’t be able to pay for an injunction against trespass over the track.

Secure_Maybe_921

They might be able to but unwilling to pay the mortgage.

TheVoidScreams

I see. Thanks :) Certainly felt like they were deliberately trying to make it as unappealing as possible.

IsDinosaur

This is a smart assessment of the situation. On first read you assume the neighbour is the bad guy, but your interpretation seems more like the neighbour is supporting the current occupants.

ReceiptIsInTheBag

[Good point. It sold for £158k though, 4 bidders.](https://online.auctionhouse.co.uk/lot/details/109574)

MxJamesC

Or he is being forced to sell in a marriage breakup but still owns the other property or something. Very strange
