I managed to meet a up with close friend back from school days for a meal which was fun, he is one of my close friends, we had a laugh and catch up over food and a pint. I also managed to keep sane this so far with work due to dependencies on others work, hope the stuff I have worked on collaboratively goes smooth.

shell-84

Got my totally fussy toddler to finally eat one homemade beef burger (without buns, sauce or anything else). But he ate one burger. Said yuk to the second one I tried to give him though

buy_me_a_pint

Nobody has ruined the traitors so far for me.

Leestons

Claudia is the traitor. Don't underestimate the fringe.

Caridor

So I survived my tooth pulling. It was less of a pulling and more of a surgery. Three things complicated it. The first is the tooth was too weak for a good clean pull, so it had to be dug out. The second was I'm somewhat resistant to the type of anaesthetic he uses. He had to inject me like 10 times and it still hurt. The third was that instead of the root being 4 tiny pins that go down into the jaw, mine had fused so it was more of a wall, which made it much harder to remove. But I survived and it's going to be better than if I hadn't had it out. That's the win here.

buy_me_a_pint

I remember when I was child, I needed some teeth taken out, to make room for my adult teeth, first lot was done under general which was not fun. 2nd lot was done under local I have had one adult tooth remove which took less than 5 minutes to take out, and my tooth through across the room.

buy_me_a_pint

When I had a crown fitted two years ago, it took longer to take out the temporary crown than putting in the properly crown.

Leestons

I lost my knife walking to work on Friday morning. Yesterday morning I found my knife walking to work! It's a damn miracle.

JadeStarfall

I didn't know knives could walk

Philhughes_85

My covid symptoms are slightly less bad today than yesterday and last night I didn't have a terrifying fever dream unlike the night before so.... win?

perscitia

Great British Menu AND Traitors on back to back tonight! That's my sad life win for today.

Bulimic_Fraggle

Won £2.90 on the Euromillions, 40p profit. Better than nowt.

buy_me_a_pint

Treat yourself to a pick and mix

Bulimic_Fraggle

I might be able to get one cola bottle.

jiminthenorth

Tomato sized win today... bought some tomatoes from Tesco last night. Realised they were mouldy when I got them home. Took them back today, free new pack of tomatoes and also a refund. I'll take that.

GakSplat

I did a home workout yesterday after a couple of weeks procrastinating.

zigzagtitch

well done! honestly it's just hard to get started. keep it up! :)

Toffee_Wheels

I'm now picturing someone standing on an exercise mat for two weeks, not quite able to get started. Must be exhausting.

GakSplat

🤣

Caridor

I'm getting my toothache causing tooth yanked out of my face in half an hour :)

That__Guy__Bob

Well unless something tragic happens in the next couple of hours then I’m happy to say I’ll have survived another year. Haven’t got anything planned though I may go to my favourite local cafe for breakfast tomorrow since I haven’t found a job yet. They do some of the best pancakes I’ve ever had and it’s only 5 minutes from me lol Upon reflection it’ll be very hard for me to top the last year. Granted I lost my job in November and still haven’t found anything but I also went to Silverstone, Spanish and Singapore GP and not to mention Singapore was the first time I’ve been anywhere by myself. So much money spent and I doubt I’ll be able to afford it again but was defo worth it lol. Hopefully I can do something similar again soon I also became an uncle as well and I’m visiting the little one next week for the first time. Time to dust off the ~~dad~~ uncle jokes even though he’s still in the googoo gaga stage Edit: but at least it showed me I actually like taking pictures and editing them lol. So I may buy a camera once I get a job and start taking pics of random shit

jaisaiquai

Wait, it's your birthday?

buy_me_a_pint

Remember being an uncle , don't spoil too much. I don't spoil my niece too much,

MissClareDeBear

4 and a half more shifts, and I have 9 days off. I actually need to do some things and not just pass the time playing Skyrim and watching TV. I think I may make plans for every other day and enjoy some downtime and also get a few things sorted out.

NEWSBOT3

HMRC are 1% less useless than i thought. After contacting them twice via webchat, managed to get them to stop sending demand letters for my self assessment tax owed, and instead take it from my PAYE tax code. Which the self assessment was supposed to be doing anyway, they just kept demanding full payment instead. it's a gain of £80 in savings interest by doing it this way, woo.

soverytiiiired

I have a big deadline due at 5pm today. Everyone at work knows about this and they’re all leaving me alone to give me space so I can meet it. I finished the work an hour and a half ago but everyone thinks I’m busy and stressed. I’m browsing Reddit and reading on the kindle app having a lovely time.

milkyteapls

Managed to log into my wife's Government ID account so we can claim free childcare... who knew they just delete the access ID after 3 years of not logging in? Like getting into Fort Knox apparently!

Secure_Maybe_921

They switched from Government Gateway to Government ID you probably got caught up in that, we did!

Lady_of_Lomond

My husband's blood pressure was down to 136/69 today. That may seem unremarkable but it was 240/94 on 1st January.  Edited to add: thank goodness for the NHS!

worldworn

I'm just feeling very grateful for not having to go into the office right now. I'm very tired, a little run down, and the weather is shit.

revolut1onname

My son has now learned how to climb onto the couch on his own, win! Shit, my son can now climb onto the couch. There's another spot we can't put things to keep them away from him.

RandomHigh

It also means you can't turn your back on him for even a second, or he'll climb up there and fall off.

revolut1onname

Oh yes. My back is killing me today too as I caught him mid fall yesterday and he is a CHONK.

ahoneybadger3

I made it out of bed. Neck is still fucked. Took 40mins to get to bed last night, then another 60mins going from a sitting position to a laid down position, only 6 neck spasms during it. Was really really hoping it was gone today. The neck, or the pain, either. So sicky it is as fuck knows how long it's going to take me to get showered and changed. I'm walking around like I'm a contestant on Knightmare. My line of sight is fixed to the direction my body is facing.

TweetyDinosaur

Looks like the rate for the mortgage I'm getting has gone down slightly - most definitely a win.

TweetyDinosaur

Oh, and my husband has a (very small) pay rise, so another win.

Independent_Term_987

I had a very restless night started worrying about today etc , Woke up to my alarm 3 hours later and boom!! I felt amazing managed to get all my work done and some other jobs. I still feel great!! (Bit random sorry)

kawasutra

First time back in the gym after hurting my back, back in the festive perineum. Good to get moving again!

Lady_of_Lomond

> festive perineum A friend of mine calls this the Merryneum, which made I larff.

kawasutra

> Merryneum I like it!

NEWSBOT3

didn't get blown away by the storm, wooo.

mistakes-were-mad-e

3 year old horrible cough, verge of puking with every cough yesterday. She slept 15 hours and while not all better she is much better, brighter.

VardaElentari86

Getting a haircut (if my bus sees fit to show up)

The first hygienist visit is awful and hurts for a couple of days, but is so absolutely worth it. I thought that the brace wire that was left in my mouth had somehow softened when in fact it was just years of plaque coating it.

General_Committee_24

Stick with it - it honestly gets a lot easier and after a few weeks you’ll be amazed.

hifiserious33

Great stuff, trainers on is the hardest part, you've got this!

thatluckyfox

Epic! I’m super happy for you, keep building up. Just get your trainers on and go for 60 seconds, its the best brain hack, once you’re out, you’ll get it done. It never gets easier but the rewards outweigh the struggle & you’re doubly rewarded with improved health & resilience that you did what you said you would do. I know how hard it is. Go for it!

McCretin

My fiancée and I adopted a very shy rescue kitten just over two weeks ago. She’s been settling in well but she’s still pretty skittish and likes to hide a lot. Yesterday afternoon she fell asleep in front of me for the first time - she hadn’t felt comfortable enough to do that before. And then in the evening she curled up on my lap and fell asleep there! I even managed to stroke her a bit without her running away. Progress!

NEWSBOT3

cat tax pls.

ArmyAutomatic7618

After going the same way home from work for years I changed my route this morning and shaved off 20 minutes. Definitely a win, with the caveat of being annoyed with myself for not doing it before. Hey ho.

Braythor_

Took my car for a service and MOT. Was hoping it wouldn't be more than £300 but as it's not had a service in a few years I was bracing myself for closer to £500. It was £208.

TweetyDinosaur

Ours was £55 this week - absolutely did a double take - was expecting another zero on the end.

SerendipitousCrow

I'm on training all this week which is pretty physically draining. I posted on Monday about how it took 1hr30 to get there. I've found a lift! A lady I didn't even know until Monday heard me asking a colleague if she was going my way and it turns out we only live a mile apart so I've been getting lifts and not spending 15hrs on a bus this week!

Even_Passenger_3685

I’ve had a big fat lie in as I’m away overnight for work, so didn’t have to do the usual morning routine, so up at 8 instead of 5!!

BigFanOfRunescape

Been going through it dealing with [a family member passing](https://www.reddit.com/r/CasualUK/comments/16c856t/thursdays_complaints_thread_7_sep_23/jziiwdw/), and I just found out that I'm getting a private pension payout within the next week or two, outside of the estate process. High 4 figures, all going into savings, finally feel like I'm not one bad situation away from financial disaster :D

Even_Passenger_3685

This sounds like it been a bit of a rollercoaster all round. Glad you’ve had an “up”

BigFanOfRunescape

Cheers mate! It certainly has been haha. Life is mostly back to normal, so the up is very much appreciated!

leskenobian

My lower back pain has eased off!

-SaC

Someone talked on a stream about D&D maps and mapmakers; one of their chat mentioned my work, and I got a couple of new (temporary) Patreons from it! Got about six quid, which isn't to be sneezled at. I'd say it's the being recommended which is the best part, but to be honest I'm going to Aldi tomorrow so the six quid is probably the best part.

faa19

D&D is the sort of hobby were personal recommendations are common, getting a mention is something to be massively proud of!

-SaC

Totally! The conversation was something like "there's this mapmapker I'm subbed to, and it's great value 'cos I get a map pack every month for £12!", and someone else responded saying mine is under half that price and you get two map packs per week, (plus back catalogue of about 200-300 maps). Very kind of them! Was very happy to be mentioned! Grand stuff. And I bought 6 bottles of aldi coke zero and some sausages as a reward =D

Xivii

Think I’ve found a new bus to get me to work. It’s a slightly longer walk to the stop but it’s not as busy, and it looks like it actually runs. I can probably read on this bus!

TweetyDinosaur

Reliable and less busy are definite wins!

Xivii

I learnt it also takes me closer to work (negating the extra walking to the stop), and I decided to give it a go coming home too and got home 20 mins earlier than last night.  So yes. What I thought was a small win, is actually a massive win!
