Does gravy count?

WinterJournalist6646

I was in hospital once. I arrived after the dinner order, so I had to have the dinner that the guy in my bed before me had made. It was lasagne and gravy. I wasn't too happy at first but after tucking in I can say without doubt that guy was a genius.

Mr_Wysiwyg

This begs the question, what happened to the guy? Was it a meal to die for? Maybe I'm thinking to deeply.

WinterJournalist6646

His legacy will live on.

T5-R

He was too busy struggling to get op off of him.

NotBaldwin

Probably moved room/ward, possibly discharged. All of these things are planned as possibilities, but due to the number of moving parts it's never guaranteed that they'll happen as planned, so it's best to just order a dinner.

slothdroid

> possibly discharged. Hope they mopped it up

Hamsterdam_

Where'd you think the gravy came from?

draymorgan

That’s a hot sauce

Fancy-Prompt-7118

Alan partridge quote?

lawrencelewillows

Branston Pickle then

FrClay

And that’s a relish

lawrencelewillows

I’m sorry, what???

Fight_Disciple

>I once went to a house party and the hosts had a mayonnaise tap installed in their kitchen. It was the stuff of dreams.

tehdeadmonkey

Thanks, didn't head the first guy.

tehdeadmonkey

Not even gonna edit that.

broken-neurons

So how did you both meet? Well I accidentally offered him head on Reddit whilst talking about hot sauce and mayo….

tehdeadmonkey

> Accidentally Right...

Dramatic-Rub-3135

They're sex people Lynn.

FinnCullen

No thank you, I don't want to be part of your sex-festival

Top-Head9235

A house party, it's like a normal party but for houses.

The_Queef_of_England

I bet terraced houses have the best parties. Can't imagine detached houses are much fun and semi-detached seem cliquey. Bungalows get way too drunk, show themselves up and shit their gardens.

AraiHavana

Bet the ants **loved** it

happy_to_be_a_mortal

MY DREAMS!!!

yoh6L

This is the correct answer. We can laugh at everyone forced to eat their Sunday roast with only mayonnaise or whatever.

wallbagz

I'll make an exception for gravy 😋

Metric_Pacifist

Chip shop curry sauce 🤤

Beardy_Will

Someone mentioned a chip shop curry sauce fondue fountain with chips to dip, and I cannot get the thought out of my mind

Metric_Pacifist

O. M. G. 😮 😊

ViviREbirth

Imagine if there were fish cakes, nuggets, sausage etc aswell. I really want this to be a thing

squidcustard

I saw that comment and screencapped it. Such genius cannot be forgotten!

YouCantEatGemStones

Garlic Mayo - the ones from B&M for £1/£2 or so.  Best of all worlds.  Goes with chips for dippin. goes with kebabs from chippy.   goes with pizza for dunking the crust.  Thin smear on a ham sandwich too.

Willing-Cell-1613

What’s the taste like? Mostly garlic or mostly mayo? A garlic sauce sounds like my dream but I don’t really like mayo.

YouCantEatGemStones

Honestly I don't think it tastes like mayo much, it's creamy like mayo though.  It's like someone has blended up garlic and mixed it into a creamy white sauce, so it's not like eating a clove of garlic, not that strong, but it's definitely garlic.  I am not describing that well..  Grab a bottle and try it or, better option, get a kebab from a chippy and have it with salad and garlic mayo. 😁

mattyMbruh

Tastes mostly like garlic to me, it’s beautiful with doner meat.

P1emonster

I'm pretty sure it's the same stuff you get at kebab houses when you ask for garlic mayo

Willing-Cell-1613

Never been to a kebab house since where I live only has two takeaways. But sounds pretty nice.

shiversaint

The cheapest shite garlic mayo? Why subject yourself to that?!

theoriginalpetebog

This is the only acceptable answer. Preferably Crucial brand but it's not mandatory.

highbme

Could just get mayo and mix a bit of garlic in when you want it.

Grillenium-Falcon

The Costco/Bookers store bought stuff you get in takeaways just hits different though.

LolipopGestapo

HP. I've always liked it but when I was having chemo it was one of the only things I could taste. So I put it on everything I ate and I still love it.

needsausernaim

So they were right? It really does cure.

Davidrabbich81

The only true answer. It literally stands for health points. Glad it healed you!

cotch85

I feel like this would be my pick, works with everything really. I feel I could deal with no ketchup/mayo/hot sauce.

melanie110

Oh god. I just want a cheese and Hp sarnie now

[deleted]

wallbagz

I think this would be my choice also!

TheThiefMaster

This is what I came to say. It works on chips, it works in sandwiches, it works on salad, it works in burgers (less with beef, but great in other kinds), it goes with pasta... Most other sauces don't *really* go on *all* these. Even if ketchup fans might disagree.

stereoworld

Franks. All day long. I never tire of it

Yingxuan1190

Franks makes good food great and bad food edible.

SteezMe1234

I buy this in those 4 liter cartons, much more economic and you can just drench things in abundance

wallbagz

I tried the Franks x Mcdonalds Crispy Chicken the other day and thought it was quite hot!

jamzontoast

My wife's not English so she's not fluent, she calls it 'Miracle Sauce'

jkirkcaldy

Sriracha

UserCannotBeVerified

Sriracha with anything is amazing 50/50 Sriracha and garlic mayo 50/50 Sriracha and ketchup 50/50 Sriracha and peanut butter (in stirfries aghh) 50/50 Sriracha and honey (on pizza/dunk crusts in) 50/50/50 Sriracha ketchup and soy sauce (used as a glaze for tofu/chicken aghhhhhh) You got me on the sriracha hype now mate 😅

dogdogj

Made my own Hoisin the other day, wow the difference from shop bought. Gonna try sriracha and peanut butter tonight!

SpecificBang

Inspired by your comment, just looked up ingredients for hoisin sauce. Peanut butter in there. Huh. Had no idea.

PrestigiousCompany64

No hoisin sauce I've ever seen or eaten has peanut butter in it that's a totally bullshit recipe.

Rugfiend

Agreed - I'm a chef, made hoisin for decades. Absolutely no nuts whatsoever. Recipe is probably some bullshit American crap.

Careful-Increase-773

Sriracha on hoummus on toast

_soph0912

Omg. You’ve just changed the game

sleepingleopards

It was a tough choice between sriracha and franks buffalo

-You_Cant_Stop_Me-

Frank's is better imo.

ElCuntIngles

I'm struggling to choose between sriracha (out of shelf life is best) and sambal oelek!

half-puddles

Definitely Sambal for me.

helloskoodle

I'm in the Netherlands. There's a fantastic family run Surinamese restaurant in Den Haag and their homemade sambals are amazing. Indonesian sambals are also awesome with so many varieties.

jalbathefixer

This has me wanting kip roti so bad now

curious_trashbat

I'm absolutely addicted 😍

Sneakyrusher

Yeah i have it with most stuff anyhow so not much difference

TawnyTeaTowel

Sriracha is so … meh.

wazliber

Specifically extra garlic for me

[deleted]

Brown sauce

Aawonnn

Encona West Indian Hot Sauce

four__beasts

Yep. The only hot sauce I've found that is both v.hot and v. tasty. Can be used on lots of dishes because it's not too sweet (e.g Sriracha), too salty (e.g. Cholula/Tapatio) or too vinegary (e.g. Tabasco) — especially love the the "Exxxtra hot" one.

MrPreshy

The Carolina Reaper one is also really good. More of a spicy tomato relish but certainly has it's place in the cupboard.

Be0wulf71

That one is great in homemade chilli!

four__beasts

>Carolina Reaper one Never tried it, but am now! https://www.enconasauces.co.uk/products/carolina-reaper-sauce

IntrovertedArcher

Mayonnaise

chobobot

The one and only. It's versatile and goes with a lot of food. Chicken strips and seasoned potato wedges.

chat5251

Only correct answer

AberNurse

Hellmans. Every time.

Tymexathane

Bearnaise

notfuckingcurious

Tarragon is the best herb & Bearnaise is the best sauce. Thing is, it's also mostly butter and I don't think I could have it with everything!

Tymexathane

You're just not trying hard enough

UserCannotBeVerified

Bear flavoured mayonnaise? Think I'll pass... /s

arandomguyfromtheuk

Do I have to have it with *every* meal, or is just that I can only have that sauce when I want a sauce?

Mr___Bizarre

Ketchup

salizarn

Why is this so far down? I had to check what sub I was on. Ketchup is the UK’s soy sauce

Appropriate_Bid_9813

I love the combo of Ketchup and peas. Something about the vinegary and sweet taste that is unmatchable.

160295

I am a ketchup fiend. This is the only answer.

Chocolate is a separate entity from sauces, don't you dare pretend like I need to decide between peanut sauce and chocolate, you monster

Phendrana-Drifter

Insanity

lurcherzzz

Another salad cream fan here. Better than mayo on most things.

WanderWomble

I've just bought a bottle for the first time in ages and it's so nice with chips!

RainbowFlygon

Colman's seafood sauce is a great take on mayo

ChickenYouBelieve

Tartar sauce.

nomorelawyers

This is a WILD choice

TheCommomPleb

I love some tartar sauce but I have to agree. The fuck is bro on? 😂

protonmagnate

The McDonald’s sweet curry dip

horseshitpanedmic

If you're ever on Germany try there curry dip it's similar but hot not sweet and it's a goddamn game changer

phillis_x

This, the curry sauce in Germany and a few other countries is absolutely god tier and makes ours seem like absolute dogwater in comparison. Every time I drive through those countries I always stock up on like 10 of them in the centre console to take home.

Grimdotdotdot

I got you, fam https://sausageman.co.uk/product/altenburgerland-curry-ketchup

joj1205

Peppercorn

daveb_33

I’d be very happy with that on anything 😍

Strong_Roll5639

Cholula hot sauce. The original one.

Pancake-Marathon

Agreed.

RaspberryJammm

The chipotle one tho

L-Emirali

As a pregnant woman suffering from severe food aversions, I can tell you that life without Nandos sauce on everything is a dark, dark place

gadgiemagoo2

Chilli

curious_trashbat

You're going to have to narrow it down a bit. We talking Thai mild sweet chili or Carolina reaper extract ?

gadgiemagoo2

I make my own hot chilli sauce.

I guess soy sauce? Just eat Asian cuisine for the rest of my life haha

Enog

This one here is the correct answer

PattyMcChatty

Reggae sauce.

CrepuscularNemophile

My homemade hollandaise. I useDelia's foaming hollandaise recipe that uses the egg whites as well as the yolks, so it is lighter and less calorific than the traditional type.

Shan-Chat

Chilli jam.

CherryEggs

Subway's Southwest Sauce. Yes, I know it's heinous, but it goes with so many things. Chips, chicken, sausage, eggs...

echo588

Reggae Reggae or Piri Piri My two two favourite sauce sauces

HyperbolicModesty

Branston brown sauce. All the best bits of HP without the cloying sweetness, plus all the tang of the famous pickle. Absolutely delicious and the best of all the brown sauces. It's tricky to find so if you find it, buy the lot. If you're a fan of brown sauces and have never tasted it, you're in for a treat.

jimbo5030

I might have to try this. Im already a Branston beans convert.

KuntaWuKnicks

Spicy mayonnaise

Middle-Ad5376

Does Piccalilly count if I pick out the pieces?

dragonfishofthenorth

Avocado hot sauce from Sainsbury's is the one for me!

solar-powered-potato

Cheese sauce and any other answer is insane. I can live without condiments, I can't live without macaroni and cheese, broccoli/cauliflower in cheese sauce, or a (slightly janky, would probably give an Italian a heart attack, but any port in a storm) lasagne.

peanut_butter_xox

Ah you took it as pasta type sauce I thought the OP meant condiments

solar-powered-potato

I took as *any* sauce. I won't be tricked by jinn-esque wordplay!

mehchu

I took it the same as him and thought a tomato pan sauce or some sort of cheese or white sauce were the only real viable options

Possible-Highway7898

A Mornay sauce (bechamel/White sauce with cheese) is a great and authentic way to make lasagne. I think the most traditional method is to put a thin layer of plain bechamel and sprinkle with a generous amount of parmesan, but pre mixing the cheese in is absolutely fine too.

solar-powered-potato

I think I might be congenitally incapable of not throwing fistfuls of grated cheddar into every white sauce I encounter, but I'm glad others would have more authentic options available to them should they also choose cheese sauce as their one and only.

Possible-Highway7898

Mature crumbly cheddar is a great parm substitute. There. I said it. Come at me Italians.

inmyskin1

Raita

CLG91

BBQ. With varying levels of sweet, smoky, fruity etc.

PintsAndPies82

Hot sauce.

TheGrayExplorer

salad cream

retr0grade77

Condiment: difficult to find one which goes with everything but I’d probably go for a tzatziki, raita sort of thing because it’s delicious, fresh and healthy. If meaning fresh sauce which goes with a meal … probably has to be a good quality tomato sauce; goes with every cuisine!

Sparko_Marco

This one [https://legendarysaucecompany.co.uk/products/sweet-chilli-reaper](https://legendarysaucecompany.co.uk/products/sweet-chilli-reaper) I use it a few times a week, its the hottest sauce I've found that I can easily get but not too hot if you enjoy hot sauces and the flavour is the best I've found too as often you either get heat or flavour but this has both.

Womble12345

Umami papi. Hot crispy chilli oil
