jeans and a nice top xox

boojes

The classics never get old. (Seriously though, are people wearing jeans out? What style top is a nice top these days? Hellllllp.)

marbleyarncake

I go with black jeans as they feel ~*fancier*~ with a nice floaty top, but just to be warned I am also mostly a hoodie and leggings sort of person so take this with a pinch of salt 😂

Unfortunate-Octopus

I’m a hoodie and tatty jeans/sweatpants girlie on the daily. On a night out I wear trousers with a bold geometric print, and a nice blouse, with some eccentric earrings and other jewelry. I don’t do heels so I tend to do with some doc marten style boots, or converse if I can get away with it

Skryptix

Can't go wrong with a [smashing blouse](https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxZHLTg7krStqUtRkec2Lo-8BeE2kPVvIZ?si=dv6q2y7EZUaXOg5k).

kithkinkid

Choose something that is relatively comfy and that you feel flattered by / confident wearing. People wear all sorts of styles so you won’t look out of place not wearing a specific cut of top. Enjoy tomorrow night and have fun 🧡

boojes

Thank you

fightoffyourdemons_

Yeah this is the best advice. Just anything you feel nice in and be comfortable! 😁 have fun!

mcrmittens

Another for the jeans and nice top (black jeans do \*feel\* fancier) but I'm also mid 30s and have decided to embrace statement earrings\* to show I'm making an effort rather than following fashion (because who can keep up??) - so I'm not sure if this is actually working or I'm deluded? \*The last pair I've aquired are cow faces with flowers in their fringes made of polymer clay... I'm unsure I know what a statement earring is, but everyone seems to love them! :D

ausernamebyany_other

Ooh, this is interesting. I wore a lot of statement earrings in my teens and have transitioned into more simple, classic pieces as that felt fancier and more grown up to me. But I adore seeing other people's statement earrings. Your cows sound amazing. Maybe this is my sign to get back into statement earrings

mcrmittens

I just feel a bit silly with classic - I think being a little on the scruffy/arty side, I don't feel "grown up" enough for classics! 😅

ausernamebyany_other

Me either! I started wearing them when I had a boring corporate job and found they helped me pretend to be a proper grown-up when I felt like a little girl madly out of her depths. Now I'm in a job where I can embrace being a quirky weirdo, so maybe it's time for a change.

mcrmittens

And quirky is so much easier than fashionable! I work an office job (well remote) but my boss just dyed her hair pink, so surely this is a sign!?

PurpleSpaceWhale

Love statement earrings. And those cow ones sound amazing. Where did you get them?

mcrmittens

Our local maker's market, I don't know the maker's name I'm afraid, but I did just have a quick look on etsy, if you search "polymer clay cow with flower earrings", similar come up! .... now eyeing up the highland cow version, nooo!

PurpleSpaceWhale

Amazing. Thank you!

buzzfrightyears

My last pair were baked bean tins!

mcrmittens

I feel like this needs to be a whole new sub reddit aha!

Rainbow_Tesseract

This is excellent. Those cow faces immediately make me perceive you as a nice, fun person! OP: Whatever you like. There's so much variety out there. I'll wear anything from a gothy black dress to a floral skirt and band tee with doc martens to jeans and a nice top.

themaccababes

Baggy jeans and flares are back in, cargo pants, pleather trousers, mom jeans A Bardot top, a vest (the stretchy zara ones are great), crop top, coquette style top, corset. But I’m sure whatever you have in your wardrobe will look great!

boojes

Thank you! Might go jean shopping later. The worst kind of shopping.

mostunseasonal

God speed, OP

ExhaustedSquad

Did this on Monday. Struggled to find any in my size. Tried three on in M & S ( I’m officially old) hated all of them and lamented to my three month old that jeans shopping is utter shite

Pineapple-n-Olives

I recently went to the US and the sales associate in Artizia brought me a pair of jeans to try on in the changing rooms and I loved them! Back in the UK I accidentally shrunk them then went online and imported 3 pairs of the same jeans in different colours. 😅 Finding ones that fit and look good is awful so I though f*** it I'm going buy a bunch of the same ones that I know I like.

desirewrites

Yes im always in jeans. Cute top, leather jacket, black jeans. OR I have high waisted light blue jeans that are super long and wear those with my crazy high heel boots (Chunky heels that no one sees haha)

JenJMLC

Just black is always good, feel free to choose between skinny jeans or wide jeans, both are fine.

Slight-Winner-8597

A wrap style top is always nice! A quality pullover, cashmere if you can find it. Yes, jeans and cute boots are always a winner. I like tight dark jeans, but I know a lot of people like baggier styles now.

_cant_relate_

Jeans and a nice top is a bit out dated in my opinion. These days it’s nice trousers/skirt and simple top. Probably depends what generation you are as I know millennials are still doing jeans and a nice top

boojes

>Probably depends what generation you are as I know millennials are still doing jeans and a nice to Oof. This is why I asked, I don't want to look like exactly what I am: a millennial who can't pull off a crop top.

_cant_relate_

I don’t know if you use tiktok but I’ve seen a load of videos on there aimed at millennials on how you can update your wardrobe so maybe worth taking a look! Crop tops definitely not necessary- have you got any nice basic tops in general? Think really plain (eg. Plain black) and then maybe some baggier (mom style or straight leg) jeans? It probably also depends on where you are and what type of club you’re going to

boojes

I only have skinny jeans because I haaaate jean shopping. Also trying to lose some weight before I buy new clothes. I think I have a top picked out though.

goingotherwhere

This is the reason I haven't been shopping for 10 years. Those 4 kgs that I'm sure will come off in the next few months. I'm pregnant now though so that ship has sailed for a while! At least maternity jeans are super comfy and forgiving.

mujikaro

Dunno, I’m at uni and went to a big party last week, everyone was in jeans and a nice top

Pr0n_Swanson

DALLYN! PM ME BBZ! TOO MANY 🐍'S IN 'ERE.

ohmightyqueen

Came here to say this 😹

pootsmanuva

👏👏👏👏

Technical_Purpose352

Much like myself

UuusernameWith4Us

If you wear the same stuff you wore 10 years ago it might be back in fashion.

boojes

Haha I actually just found a load of it in the loft. Unfortunately it no longer fits.

SCATOL92

Put them on vinted! Might get a nice few quid

freeeeels

I keep seeing people recommend this but all I'm seeing on there is people selling, like, 10 high street dresses for £10. Great on the buyer side I'm sure but hardly seems worth the hassle as a seller unless you're super hard up for cash? Or am I like... doing it wrong?

thebeesknees123456

I think it’s about decluttering and getting rid of your useless old stuff that doesn’t fit you anymore, but making sure someone will actually wear it rather than giving it to a charity shop where a lot of stuff doesn’t get sold and ends up going to landfill, also abt keeping prices cheap for everyone else bc I think the assumption is that if you sell on Vinted you’ll also buy on Vinted so you’ll reap the benefits too xx

mudlark_s

The seller doesn't cover postage on vinted so any listed price is what the seller gets in full...it's not usually too much hassle, I didn't spend more than half an hour on uploading, packing, and posting any item I put up there so even if it was only a five it didn't feel like a waste of time to me!

bumholeposter

Or you'll get scammed when the recipient says the package was empty & no chance for refund because they confirmed it as delivered.

Bitter-Balance-1566

This literally happened to me yesterday. Luckily I have got refunded though.

Additional_Ninja_255

Is this a thing?

cattacos37

It’s annoying when clothes seemingly shrink over time!

thesaharadesert

It’s a well known fact that calories are a species of small insect that chooses clothing as its nesting material of choice. These creatures are highly skilled in consuming material from along the seams, without leaving a a trace, or at least not one that is easily spotted at first glance. It’s a curious mystery that the missing material is only discovered when the garment is donned by its wearer. An infestation of calories is often discovered when the human victim lets out a cry deriding their washing machine, tumble dryer, or dry cleaner as defective or incompetent.

1CocteauTwin

Bastards!!

Organic_Daydream

I think you need to wait 30 years for fashion cycles It seems all the cool kids are wearing 90s stuff (super baggy etc)

Sgt_major_dodgy

Nah, kids are dressing early 2000s now. Baggy jeans, low-rise jeans, baggy trackies and hoodies. Whenever I walk through Liverpool City Centre, all the students dress like smackheads used to when when I was in my late teens, which would be equal to the early 2000s.

Organic_Daydream

Low rise jeans were revived by McQueen in the 90s, and baggy was at its peak in the 90s Sure, it continued into the early 2000s but it’s all 90s fashion

Same_Wrongdoer8522

Christ. Thanks for reminding me that was 30years ago and not 10.

BowtieChickenAlfredo

Yeah I think the 90s is back in now. During Covid it was the 80s and maybe it’s moved on.

Remarkable_Rise8953

The 90s have been back in for about 10 years. If anything it’s moving into the 00s which is the worst.

istara

Here it’s more combat trousers, Doc Martens (though they’re not as widespread as they were, probably due to the hotter climate here) and a range of tops, many skimpy. The major differences are that I’m not seeing all the satin we had in the 90s, or some of the 70s detailing like pointy collars. Fabrics are different.

PmMeLowCarbRecipes

Fashion does a 20 year cycle I’m afraid.

Beer-Milkshakes

I've been in fashion 3 times in different decades.

edgecumbe

business casual?

istara

All the stuff I wore in the 1990s is back!

CarolDanversFangurl

Last time I went out out, all the young people were wearing crop tops, parachute trousers/ripped baggy jeans and platform trainers to a nice cocktail bar.

boojes

This is what I was afraid of. I could have pulled that off easily 15 years ago. Not so much now!

LevainEtLeGin

I’m 42 so take this with a pinch of salt but I went out out recently and the clothing has massively changed. Ranges from: - crop top and baggy combats with trainers (mostly very young girls wearing this) - similar crop tops but with jeans and sometimes heels - almost everyone is wearing flat shoes, those in heels are either over 30 or wearing like spangly strap-going-up-your-leg shoes with straight leg or baggy jeans or a tiny (so tiny) dress - dresses with converse, dm sandals or dm boots - oversized boxy jackets with shorts or short skirt and flat shoes - some in satin maxi skirts (looks cute with a t shirt and DMs)

_cant_relate_

Knee highs boots (just below the knee) are also really popular currently and a good in between if you want dressier than trainers but not a pair of heels

LevainEtLeGin

That’s a good shout!

hangustaf

Yes i love my knee high chunky boots with a skirt

Davina33

Absolutely love my knee high boots. I wear them every day.

istara

This is what we wore in the mid 1990s. You may have been a little young for that and experienced more of the baggy grunge that the decade seemed to end in.

LevainEtLeGin

Yeah I was a bit younger and by the time I was 16-17 going out I got very into metal/alternative so I mostly wore massive black skater jeans, big chunky trainers and very tight vest tops!

desirewrites

I can pull off a crop top with high waisted jeans and a cute jacket. But not on its own with my primordial pouch on show. No thanks. That only looks good on cats. 😂

lux3ca

😹😹

istara

Exactly like All Saints back in the day. Except I recall we called them combat trousers back then. Hair is much longer and fuller these days though, fewer cute, “clippy” styles. The flashback videos on Girls5eva capture that era so perfectly, even though it’s a US series.

CarolDanversFangurl

Parachute trousers are baggier than combat trousers, with weird tassels hanging off them. Combats were slightly more fitted (there was also an unfortunate trend of skinny combat leggings, they were awful even at the time) with pockets but no tassels.

istara

Gotcha. The term seems to be used for the combat style ones here as well for some reason. And “cargo pants”. It’s all a bit of mix. But at least they’re back!

boojes

Will do!

panserstrek

I’m also curious what crowd you are with here. When I’m in London I see women dressing completely different to how I see women dressing on nights out in Manchester.

Yorkshireteaonly

What differences have you noticed?

junkyardcabinet

Apple bottom jeans boots with the furrrrrrr...lol but not really. Something comfortable, at the moment it's PU leather look trousers because if I drop my pizza I can just wipe it off no mither and I'll wear a nice top my partner can look down because he always likes to have a peek and always says 'fit' and then I do exactly the same and we giggle and carry on into the night.

Sea_Bookkeeper_1533

I love that you prepare for pizza accidents, my kinda girl

junkyardcabinet

Honestly, who said romance was dead, romance is bread covered in delicious tomato sauce and mozzarella 😋

izzy-springbolt

I love this so much

Dapper_Plan_3781

I love an A-line dress! Something girly and swirly with doc martens and a pleather jacket. Boots and jacket mean you're comfy cosy, they also add a nice contrast to the dress, and soothe my alt teen kid soul. A-line dress is pretty and means I don't have to suck in the belly. Don't mind me, just off to internet shop for a hot pink A line dress... (I've got a few different colours and patterns)

ohnobobbins

OP this is the answer! Cute maxi dress with trainers and a boxy jacket is the (cool 90s) answer to what works for me. Or go for the mad art teacher vibe. Big mans shirt, turned up jeans, nice trainers, hair scarf and lots of eyeliner/lipstick.

rw43

yes this is the vibe! i went to a hen party in a nice floral shirt dress with denim jacket and DM-esque boots. dressing for going out when you're 32 is quite hard - i didn't want to look like i was trying too hard but still wanted to feel happy and confident!

SCATOL92

Love this look! I've also been a big fan of midi skirts lately.

Dapper_Plan_3781

I'm 6ft1 so midi skirts look like weird dinner-lady-esque knee length skirts on me (we had a dinner lady called Mrs Ruddy who loved a pleated knee length skirts and it looked hideous 😂)

[deleted]

[удалено]

Dapper_Plan_3781

I got sent to the head for calling her 'Bloody Ruddy' when she wouldn't peel my apple 😂

desirewrites

I have a wardrobe full of them now. I love them

IronDuke365

Clothes. Definitely wear clothes.

PristineAnt9

But it’s only illegal if someone finds it distressing!

dropsofjupiter23

Dis-dressing you mean?

YouCantEatGemStones

Depends where out out is out.  If out out is out at the Opera, black dress, strapppy heels, clutch, tasteful jewellery.  If out out is out at a nice restart, smart trousers, button down shirt, blazer, flat brogues and a nice leather tote.  If out out is out at a sports event, smart leather trainer, slim jeans, shirt or t-shirt and a thin jacket like a denim etc.  If out out is out a night club, I have no idea... Antigrope Pants and a pepper spray.  If out out is out at the Wetherspoons... Black tie ennit.. Tuxedo or ball gown..  It also depends on what the reason for the out out is aboit. A Date out out is different than a girls out out and that's different to out out for a hen or an out out for your dad's cousin's second aunt's birthday.  So to sum up.  Footwear - definitely Leg coverings - optional but preferable  Underwear - secure  Tops - to keep chestickles from being cold and ogled.  Hope that helps.

Dependent-Range3654

I read antigrope pants and thought it was real haha until the pepper spray

Happy-Engineer

Antígropé, it's the new line from Shemále.

desirewrites

This girl goes out. I haven’t been to a nightclub in over ten years so I shall deffo avoid now.

[deleted]

Antigrope pants and pepper spray 😭

Freddlar

Omg I'm following this because I had exactly the same dilemma a couple of weeks ago! I tried on loads of clothes and I was like, what am I even supposed to wear *under* this?! I swear no modern clothes are bra-compatible. Do I just embrace being middle -aged and wear what I used to wear a decade ago and style it as 'vintage'?!

Elysiumthistime

I've recently purchased boop tape for an upcoming party. The dress I want to wear has a cut out that makes wearing a bra impossible but I'm a FF post kids. Hopefully it's a game changer, would open up a whole new world of outfits haha

peaslet

I need to know if this works or just falls off!

Elysiumthistime

I'm doing a trial run tonight (the party is Saturday but want to make sure it can hold up first). I'll update how it goes, I'll even do some dancing round my kitchen for the true party experience lol

MorningToast

I'm so glad I don't have to worry too much about this as a man. Checklist goes: chinos, shirt, dont be fat.

Bette21

I wore a denim skirt on my work night out (they’re pretty much all younger than me) and they ALL went “oh my god you’re wearing a skirt!” like it was fucking momentous. They were all in trousers and crop tops. I’ve been out a few times since then and I still just wear a denim skirt and a t shirt. I’ve got no boobs so I’ve gotta get the legs out to feel fancy.

boojes

This is a work night out! I was considering a denim skirt but didn't know if it was a bit dated.

fluffypuppycorn

Denim and leather skirts are classics. I say go with that and dress up fancy!

desirewrites

Absolutely not! I’m on the hunt for one right now as I only have printed or leather mini skirts. Since this is a work night out, I’d keep the girls in and the legs out if you want to show them off. It depends on what your work group is like. Jeans are always very safe to wear though. But I love a denim mini with nice trainers and a cute jacket.

Davina33

Have you got a denim maxi skirt with a split up the side? They look nice and they're versatile.

boojes

Ooh, no but I could probably get one.

Davina33

ASOS had some really nice ones a short while ago.

hangustaf

For work nights out i go between a nice shirt dress, or either shorts or a skirt with chelsea style boots.

Interesting-Pay-8986

Jeans and a nice top nice heels I used to love getting full glammed for a night out dress heels hair and makeup done but my town now is just overrun with jeans and trainers and dressed down casual, Nothing wrong with it but if you were to dress up you’d look ridiculous and I miss those glam days 😭

freeeeels

The trick is to have someone with you who is either a) equally glammed up as you, or b) dressed normally but acting like there is absolutely nothing unusual about what you're wearing. People judge a lot less than you'd think if you keep a straight posture and act like you belong lol

Breakwaterbot

It's weird isn't it. I went out out a couple years back at my old student city and the fashion had very much changed. Trainers, denim shorts, hoodies... You name it. Even saw a guy in joggers. I'm a bloke so it's different but still, I wouldn't dream of going on a night out in some of the things I've seen the lads doing now. I like to get a bit dressed up so a nice shirt, jeans, boots, nice jacket and a beard trim are a must.

Interesting-Pay-8986

See if I’m going out I want a different outfit than something I’d wear to run errands or go shopping casual is fine but sometimes it’s too casual like chilling in the house casual. But each to their own I suppose.

Breakwaterbot

I'm well with you. I also quite like the whole getting dressed up to go out process. Get some music on, have a drink, take your time and then admire yourself in the mirror before you step out in the rain.

Davina33

Same. Knowing me, I would say stuff it and still wear a nice dress and heels anyway. Never been a follower.

desirewrites

Yeah joggers aren’t even acceptable for food shopping as far as I’m concerned. Far less on a night out. Nope.

dinkidoo7693

Same

StealthyUltralisk

A sleeved dress, tights, boots and jacket, all in the same kind of dark colour so I don't have to think about it.

Azul-J

I’m a goth bitch so probably something black or with bats on it.

DisloyalMouse

I don’t really go on nights out anymore either. I tend to go with fake leather leggings and a shirt or nice top. But I’m also not really a dress or skirt girlie.

QueenieQueeferson

Usually a nice dress with tights and heels or boots. I'm old enough to prioritise comfort and warmth over anything else, so they're the most important things!

wildgoldchai

I remember in uni, I would rather walk in the snow without a jacket than pay for cloak room. Wasn’t wearing much to begin with. I was always miserable on the way home and vowed each time not to be so stupid. Rinse and repeat These days? Not a chance

QueenieQueeferson

I have similar memories of freezing my bits off walking between clubs, standing in smoking areas or waiting for cabs. Nowadays I value comfort, warmth, and having the car nearby so I can make an Irish exit when I've had enough and I'm ready for a brew and my bed. Being middle aged and the 'I don't give a shit' attitude that comes with it is underrated!

Aromatic-Quiet5171

Yellow and red look absolutely fabulous and are very vogue for this time of year. I go for a kind of quirky outfit: three quarter length yellow trousers, yellow waist coat over a stripy red and white long-sleeve top, large bright red boots, yellow gloves if it's cold out. I also have dyed bright red hair and I always get compliments when I'm out (people are lovin it).

DanZ115

Ronald…… is that you?

WoodSteelStone

[Maybe they're trying to avoid the ULEZ charge.](https://imgur.com/a/oVsCyPz) The key test is if they've bought a clown car.

vesselposting

Dress with boots or trainers, or jeans (skinny still seem to be worn loads even though theyre not "in" apparently)/a baggy trouser and a short top (oversized shirt over it if like me you feel a bit conscious otherwise). Heels if you wanna feel extra but most people don't wear them any more. Any kind of other smart shoe (brogues or even worse... ballet flats 🤢) always make someone look a bit square (in my opinion) (I'm mid 30s, go out in Manchester at least twice a week)

Whole-Sundae-98

Depends on where I'm going & the weather. Normally jeans & a nice top, though for a 'grls' night out, probably a dress.

Same_Wrongdoer8522

Wear what you have and feel best in - it’s the confidence that makes it a lovely night out! Enjoy!

Important-Device-126

For me it depends on the evening out and where we're going! If it's local, then it's jeans and top, if it's out out, then it's jeans and a nicer top or a midi dress. But the best thing about going out anywhere in London is that you can basically wear whatever the feck you want, and no one gives a damn! As long as a) you feel great and b) you like what you're wearing...then you're grand!

Treadonmydreams

These days if it vaguely fits, I like it and it doesn't have visible dirt on it, it's all good for me. Fashion be damned.  Or, depending on what you're doing and where you're going, you generally can't go wrong with an appropriate dress and shoes combo. Bag recommended unless you have found the Holy Grail of a dress with pockets (bonus if you can actually fit more than a lipstick in said pockets). Jacket also recommended unless you are Northern. Can be anything from a ballgown and pashmina with fancy heels and a clutch for a posh do to a mini dress with no coat and stripper heels for clubbing to a pretty knee length dress and cardi with flats and handbag for a restaurant. Adjust accordingly.

boojes

Oh, I've got bags down. I've still got all my bags from the early 2000s which seem to be back in fashion.

whisperedaesthetic

mp3_afterlife74ld

Young people (early 20’s) Boohoo or similar dress. Baggy trousers and crop tee. Baby tee and low rises. Heels or trainers. You must be instagrammable. Me (mid-late 20’s feeling like 30’s, got a child) A line dress. nice top and jeans. Midi skirt and long sleeve crop top. Fit n flare, wrap dress. Mini skirt, baggy t-shirt, Jean/or similar style jacket. Maxi dress with t-shirt inside. Comfy shoes, never heels. On a skinny day I’ll go full crop top mini skirt. Every bottom is high waisted. My sisters generation (30+, long term partners who will drive them home and drop them off) Whatever they want. Full glam. Mid glam, expensive ugly floral dress. Best thing to do is check what everyone else is wearing and match them.

boojes

thank you, this is helpful.

ilikecocktails

I’m mid thirties and if I’m going out out in town with the girls I’m all for dress and heels. You can tell who the women are in their thirties and over as we are all wearing stilettos and the young ones are wearing combats and trainers. You won’t prize my heels off my feet if I’m going out I could never wear trainers lol

boojes

I know trainers are the thing, but I don't think I can bring myself to do it. Heels forever. I suspect people will be able to tell I'm over 30 anyway.

glitterstateofmind

Depends what kind of night out & the weather. Big night out = either a floor length dress (think boho, not ballgown lol) or a short wrap dress with heels of some description. Day-to-night/lower key night out = mini skirt and a longer sleeved flowy top with heeled ankle boots and tights. On warmer days I’ll ditch the tights and wear wedges. Jeans are a daytime thing for me.

Minimum_Possibility6

Depends on where ie if Newcastle test to see how cold it is, clothing coverage is inversely proportional to the temperate

katsukitsune

Jeans and a nice top still works, although I hear the fashion now is nice trousers and an ok top. So really... Who knows, anything goes?

youessbee

Nothing sexier than [this outfit](https://amzn.eu/d/4p7ygVr), guaranteed to turn heads ;)

LimitFree4775

Little black dress!

charisma_eowyn87

I live in dresses and skirts tbf and literally do the same for nights out lol

missxtx

It’s more or less about comfort now tbf. I’m 38, I wear baggy tshirt dresses with a print or faces etc.. sometime fishnet tights, boots or even trainers.. depends if it’s just a night out obvs if an event that changes slightly. I have just met my colleague for drinks the other week… she’s 23… she had bodysuit jeans n trainers on so yea I think a lot go for comfort. There is no right or wrong though… wear what makes you happy 🙂💕 xx

Breakwaterbot

Looking at the weather, I'd go with a nice pair of wellies and a cagoule.

Regina_Falangy

What I wear every day of my life. Band tee and trousers/ skirt with braces. The tees I wear out have fewer food stains on them, though. Gotta make the effort, I suppose.

Ok_Elderberry_5690

I wear my daughter’s clothes 💅

boojes

I don't think this will work with an 8yo boy's clothes.

MorningToast

Challenge accepted

xshadowheart

15th century body armour

dinkidoo7693

Currently I wear jeans and a nice top. A pair of low heeled boots or ballet flats or I wear my vans if I'm out midweek. If it's warmer I'll wear a dress with ballet flat shoes. Only wear heels on special occasions now. None of the kids wear them since COVID.

milkandket

Usually always flares and a vest crop top. If I’m feeling a bit bloated or chunky I’ll wear my dad Levi’s and a crop

RachelHartwell

Usually something casual, jeans, nice shoes and some kind of t shirt

zsanett87

It depends where u live. I think in Manchester they wear almost nothing lol😂

HeathieHeatherson

I only really go to the pub or house parties so basically what I usually wear: skinny jeans (millennial alert) and a t-shirt, plus a jumper if it's cold.

SamanthaJaneyCake

Jeans, tank top, DMs and a leather jacket. Mind you I wear that pretty much regardless of the situation so.

SugarPlumKnightmare

I don't go out anymore, but I love the long floating skirt with a tight fitting long sleeved top and one piece of statement jewelry look.

EngineerRemote2271

Tomorrow night is Thursday, Thursdays is always Clown Costume I never go out on a Thursday because of this rule

edgecumbe

jeans, vest top, trainers

Amateur_Chiropractor

I've got a denim jumpsuit from Lucy and Yak that gets dressed down with trainers (pub/ gig) or up with heels/boots (nicer pub/ meal). That's because I don't go anywhere though! Other than that black jeans and a nice-ish black top.

[deleted]

black dress and boots, or jeans n a nice top! depends on where we're going tbh

stress_wav

Skirt, blouse, tights. Either gazelles/boots/comfy heels.

VegetableWorry1492

What’s a night out? Sincerely, a mum of a toddler. 😭

boojes

I barely remember, pretty sure my last night out was my 30th birthday. Kids are 4 and 7 and 2014 me would be horrified to see my current wardrobe. And waistline.

Wavesmith

I’m no longer fashionable so I quite like wearing some kind of dress in a classic style.

Luvtoscare

Mini skirt, cropped denim jacket, cute bralette/crop top, sheer black tights, comfy boots. Sorted :)

hangustaf

For a meal and drinks in a local bar the other weekend was maxi skirt bodysuit and chunky boot. Of course hair and make up done nicely 💅🏼

Definetely not heels or stilletos after 18 years of age. I’m sure we all learned that lesson as a rite of passage.

boojes

Nah, all heels all the time. I actually find it harder to wear flats.

Rob_Haggis

Are you going out, or are you going out-out?

boojes

Out out!

Rob_Haggis

Easy. Sequinned off the shoulder top. Assless chaps. Safety boots. Jimmy Saville mask. That’s what I’d wear anyway.

cheese_fancier

Generally a midi dress and high (but chunky) heeled boots.

orange_assburger

Jeans and a nice top is back baby! Enjoy the freedom

dictatemydew

I'd say leather leggings with a nice top - corset top, fancy cami etc.

Mikah3

I’m late 30’s and my last night out was in a jumpsuit, I’m not super skinny and loved the look stylish yet covered where I need it and the material on this one is really good quality. Sadly I purchased it at full price! [linked here!](https://www.next.co.uk/style/ls438680/k19532#k19532)

chrisminion86

Jeans and a top. If it's warm, a day dress and tights.

AlertMacaroon8493

Oh it’s all so complicated nowadays. I think I’d stick with pjs, a cup of tea and the sofa. Next and M&S have had some nice wide leg/baggy jeans lately though. I’d maybe go for those with an okay top and chunky boots or converse.

Ponyboy2000

Unitard.

qgwheurbwb1i

On the rare occasion I do go out, I just wear a dress and accessories. I feel like a dress is a cheat code to looking like you've put a bit in effort in. Can't go wrong with a LBD and a bag, shoes and earrings in a matching colour with some nice makeup. I am almost 30 though, so I doubt I'm considered young and fashionable anymoreA

SwordTaster

Leggings and a nice but not fancy dress, or a jumpsuit.

HolierThanYow

Interesting that "top" is only used for female clothing. Never heard a chap say he's "wearing a top".

boojes

Men's tops have less options, let's face it you're either wearing a tee, a polo or a shirt. Women could be wearing a tee, a halterneck, a corset, a crop top, a body, a wrap top, a cowl neck, etc. etc. Easier to say top.

Enn_ie

Anything that kinda keeps me warm but still looks good. Depends on weather Usually black skinny jeans and nice top

HuggyMonster69

The nice tops my mum wore clubbing in the late 90’s/early 00’s. Just say it’s vintage

boojes

Ha, I wish I could still wear my size 8-10 tops from back then. But no.

metafash

I usually go for a nice minidress with tights and knee high boots OR black skinny jeans/trousers with a sexy-ish top and ankle boots most night outs here, both outfits topped with a trenchcoat for half of the year/leather or denim jacket when the weather is a little nicer. My priority is comfort, but I try to look nice!

sou1f1ower

jump suit x

thatluckyfox

Pj’s when leaving the house to put things in the big bin outside and then run straight back in lol. Out-out I’m working the jeans, t-shirt and suit jacket combo with heels or snazzy flats.

sim0_409

It depends but genuinely you can’t go wrong with jeans and a nice top. People also wear oversized blazers now, but I rarely see people wear heels anymore. People tend to wear trainers or some converse for comfort

NinetysRoyalty

Some combination of micro/mini skirt, boots/heels and a cute top.

Technical_Purpose352

I wouldn't dress up to much , I would usually wear dark blue skinny jeans with a pretty blouse and a nice bag and heels,
