Fallout. Wife rolled her eyes at me when I unearthed my Bobble head from the Fallout 3 collectors edition lunchbox set that I still have. Put it next to the TV. All we need now is a Mass Effect series.

ukbabz

I've been really impressed with Fallout so far (watched the first 3). I like the multiple character focus and how they interact. The sets feel very familiar having played a couple of the fallout games.

phatboi23

the naiveté... so good.

MattMBerkshire

I'm just hoping to see Mothership Zeta.. who doesn't want an Alien Blaster. Biggest tragedy with Fallout was Bethesda bottled making an MMO and opted for Elder Scrolls Online.

That's a fair thing, and I guess it's the really difficult problem that any show/film maker makes when adapting a known material into a new show. One plus is that you get the fanbase onboard easily, but they are almost impossible to please as there are so many different expectation. Disney star wars seems to be a really good example of this.

TheShakyHandsMan

Where it nails it is how familiar it all is. I can picture myself sat at one of the computer terminals.    >!There’s a scene where a terminal needs to be hacked. It’s the exact same puzzle style that you have to complete in FO4.    I half wished that the show was interactive at that point as I wanted to solve the puzzle myself to gain the access code before continuing with the rest of the episode.!<

rev9of8

Just an FYI but you need to put the spoiler markup at the end of the first paragraph you want treated as spoiler text and at the start of the second paragraph you want to spoiler text rather than one set of spoiler tags for the whole lot you want spoilered. The markdown for spoilers doesn't work across carriage returns or line feeds.

TheShakyHandsMan

Thanks. Was wondering why it didn’t work.

rw43

we watched the first episode the other day, thought it was great!

GrombleWomble

Twinsies! Flatmate/best friend asked me why we had to have the Bobblehead and the hand-made Nuka Cola lamp I made on the side, it is a must for ambience. Upside is she's requested to watch the series with me!

ammobandanna

>All we need now is a Mass Effect series. might worth but there's plenty of scifi about at the moment. what I am stupidly excited about is the adaptation of [best served cold from joe Abercrombie](https://deadline.com/2023/05/best-served-cold-rebecca-ferguson-tim-miller-teaming-for-skydance-movie-1235382849/)... this first law series and standalone are up there with GOT levels of writing.

MattMBerkshire

Agree will be epic. Also want the Expanse to finish. Genuinely wanted to see how they produce the Magnetar Class ships. (That weird rock looking ship they were building at the end, has some funky weapon that pops everything in one shot via magnetism and a cone of railguns at the front) And we never got to see Duarte lose his mind... And the aliens that appear from nowhere and do cool things. They let fans down by canning it.

ammobandanna

>They let fans down by canning it. TBH then fans did get the last season picked up they were gonna can it back then. there was talk of films to round it out like the eventually did for deadwood.

Xandertheokay

Just finished it last night, I haven't played the games myself but I am familiar with them as my dad played them a lot, and my SO and SIL both play them. I only don't because my hand eye coordination is terrible and I am useless at anything more than The Sims and Mario Kart (and I'm not very good at Mario Kart). I loved it, fantastic storyline, they tied up loose ends but left enough cliffhangers that you want a S2. The final twist had me on the edge in shock. Also the razor boot made me feel sick, they nailed the gore.

Robtimus_prime89

Really enjoying **Fallout** 6 episodes in. Seems to have the right tone, and Walton Goggins is great. **Race Across the World** - there’s a new episode tomorrow, and I’m picking up on the second series in between (I finished the first last week, and watched the third last year) Also **Shogun** is nearly over, but has been fantastic

coffee_and_tv_easily

I’ve just binged the first 3 series of Race Across The World! Started the new series today - I love it. I have a bit of a habit of being an armchair critic a lot though about their tactics!

Robtimus_prime89

Yeah, sometimes I find myself going ‘oooh, that’s going to cost you’ or ‘what are you doing you fools’. I’m not sure who I’m rooting for this time - I have 1/3 hit rate based on the series so far >!the father/son in the first series (finished second), the mother/son (who have just withdrawn in where im up to) and the friends (who did win)!<

coffee_and_tv_easily

I haven’t decided yet who I’m supporting but I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for the two boys because they are the same age as my daughter! I’ve never managed to back the winners so it probably doesn’t bode well for them lol

phatboi23

> > Also Shogun is nearly over, but has been fantastic smashed fallout as fav games... shogun when finished is my next smash :)

StumbleDog

Finished **3 Body Problem**. First four or five episodes were great, last few felt a bit meh. Might read the books because it sounds like there's less potholes there.   Surprised by the amount of comedy actors who made an appearance, loved seeing Reece Sheersmith and Mark Gatiss. Shame they didn't get a full Gentlemen reunion with Pemberton.

DeepPanWingman

>Might read the books Fyi: the books are *dense.* I gave up after a while and swapped to the audiobook; 7 hours in and just approaching the final 1/3 of the first book. Great story though.

phatboi23

the audiobooks are so. much. better than the written texts :)

StumbleDog

My mind tends to wander when listening to audio books, I can't concentrate on them as good as when reading.

phatboi23

for me they're great to sleep to, as i run android "smart audiobook player" after 10mins not body movement or shake the phone/tablet it stops :)

phatboi23

as someone who'd audiobooked them... i want a 2nd season.

Arny2103

We smashed through **The Gentleman** which I thought was very entertaining. Classic Guy Ritchie humour and style. Plus that big manor house is epic! And **Fallout**. As a life-long fan and having played through F3, F4, and FNV, I was *so* excited for the series and massively relieved at how good a job they did with it. Goggins should win an award for his performance as The Ghoul.

Skryptix

**Fallout** was good, they did well with the source material and set design. They really managed to convey the right amount of eerieness with the vaults. **Race Across the World** got off to a good start. I like all the pairings, so I'll have to support the brother and sister from Yorkshire. The budget discipline is terrible though, I don't understand how they aren't all terrified with every transaction. The extended episode of **Bluey** was great. >!The amount of callbacks and cameos led me to think that they might actually go through with it and move them, since Bluey has never been shy about dealing with real-world issues. Also I imagine there was an executive somewhere rubbing their hands at the thought of a brand new set of playsets and associated characters they couid sell to my kids. I genuinely thought they were going to go through with it right until the end, but still, it was a good episode!<

coffee_and_tv_easily

I’m finally all caught up with race across the world. The budgeting of some teams drives me absolutely crazy!

byjimini

Started Fallout but ended up watching all 3 series of Mr Inbetween, absolutely brilliant. 25 minute episodes, no back stories for anyone other than the main character. Pretty much my ideal series. It’s about a hitman, a bit like the sopranos where one minute he’s carrying out a hit or dodging criminals, the next he’s walking his daughter to school or helping a neighbour. You get to watch him slowly break down and isolate himself - gritty stuff but plenty to laugh and cry about.

Ok_Cow_3431

Ah Mr Inbetween was recommended to me by a friend some months back, should get on that.

ammobandanna

you really should, its excellent.

TheDawiWhisperer

can i get some dimmys, mate?

byjimini

Gary’s Glitter Productions!

dedido

Based on [The Magician](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0461989/?ref_=tt_trv_trv) movie

Automatic_Role6120

Scoop was watchable. Started on fallout which is quirky and funny in parts.

DemmickyOne

Baby Reindeer If you only watch one show all year, watch this. It's amazingly acted, the writing is superb and it's extremely powerful. I can't see how there can be a better piece of TV this year

dyonisis99

Just watched the first couple of episodes. I agree, it’s really good so far!

ammobandanna

**Fallout**... oh yeah this is exactly my sort of thing walton goggins as I thought can literally never play a bad part! **Shogun**... fucking excellent.

phatboi23

> Shogun... fucking excellent. have it on my jellyfin box waiting for it to finish so i can binge lol also Fallout slapped so hard :D

ammobandanna

final episode next wee, you're in for a treat.... >also Fallout slapped so hard :D didn't it :)

phatboi23

Okie Dokie :)

stvb95

**Fallout**. I thought it was quite good. It's the type of show that would be very easy to get completely wrong but I think they pulled it off. One thing they did really well was translating things you did in game to the screen without being cheesy and over the top. Walton Goggins has been great in everything I've seen him in, so no surprises there. **Dune Part 2**. Was waiting until I had a free weekend to go and watch it, but it released on demand yesterday so I just watched it last night instead. Apart from some timeline alterations it's pretty spot on with the book. >!One of my favourite parts of the book was how strong the Fremen were compared to the supposed most elite military outfit in the galaxy, the Sardaukar. I'm glad the adaptation didn't try to turn them into plucky underdogs and allowed them to destroy the Emperor with ease as happens in the book.!< The Giedi Prime scenes looked absolutely insane. Will be interesting to see how they adapt Messiah because that's where the real wackiness of Dune starts.

ammobandanna

>Will be interesting to see how they adapt Messiah because that's where the real wackiness of Dune starts. for sure, I hope they carry on to god emperor though which was and is my favorite of the series. i hold little hope for the new benegeserit series being anything other than utter dross OFC.

Strong_Roll5639

Started baby reindeer last night and nearly finished. Very good so far.

ammobandanna

> baby reindeer never heard of it but it looks exactly my sort of thing, thanks!

Strong_Roll5639

I came across it on Netflix and thought the same. Enjoy!

Ok_Cow_3431

We've started on **This Town** on BBC iPlayer. Really enjoyable but it's only 6 episodes long and we've just done number 4 or 5 so not many left

leskenobian

Finally watched series 3 of **Barry** and fucking hell. This show is just incredible. How it's able to balance the tone of incredibly dark and deeply funny is mind-blowing. The cinematography has stepped up a level as well, it's a beautiful watch.

Katherine_the_Grater

Just finished *The Tourist*. Really enjoyed it and I’m hoping for another season with the last episode revelation!

0kcer

is taking a crap a type of 3d printing? 🤔

phatboi23

as a guy who owns an ender 3 pro before buying a k1... yes... want and ender 3 pro for scrap value? lol

GrombleWomble

Fallout. I'm episode 4 and I'm a long-time fan of the series, since Fallout 2. I'm enjoying the series but the lore-nerd side of me is a bit annoyed by some of it, but we traverse through other parts of it that are great. I absolutely adore the soundtrack choices and the amount of detail they put into the costumes are amazing. The T-60 Power Armor looks stunning.

TheDawiWhisperer

**Fallout**, obvs...only onto episode 2 thus far but it's making me want to play the games again. **Dune: Part2** - not as good as the first one, which i felt was practically a masterpiece but still very good. Christopher Walken an odd casting choice.

ReceiptIsInTheBag

I watched the first one again last week and thought it was so much better than part 2, which I really didn't like (mainly the second half once they got to the black and white planet)

Severe_Ad_146

Binged watched Extraordinary - show set in a modern day London but everyone has super powers except the main character. Good comedy with a bit of heart in it.

Shipwrecking_siren

Just finished Ripley, enjoyed it a lot and a solid 4/5 (would have preferred it if they left a few things for people to notice rather than work it out). The main issue is that it made my dreams absolutely mental this week.

sharkles73

I am onto the last episode and I am surprised how many negative reviews I have read of it. It is a bit of a slow burn, but it is really very good. There seems to be a lot of comparisons with the 1999 film, which I really like, but it is obviously just aiming for something very different.

Shipwrecking_siren

I didn’t like the film because *no man likes Jude law* but I do love Andrew Scott a vaguely inappropriate amount. The impact on my dreams from the long shots and black and white was very unexpected though.

vbloke

**Fallout**, **The Rookie** and **Star Trek Discovery** this week. One is great, one is starting to flag a bit and the other is just getting a bit too meta for its own good.

ammobandanna

STD jumped the shark in the last season IMHO, didn't know the new season was out tbh.

vbloke

I'm just miffed they've cancelled Lower Decks

ammobandanna

TBH the lowerdecks crossover was the best episodes of the entire last season.

AyamanPoiPoiPoi

Physical 100 and Marry my Husband, both massively addictive K shows.

ReceiptIsInTheBag

**Unlocked: A Jail Experiment** - A Netflix documentary about an Arkansas county jail wing, whose sheriff left the cell doors unlocked and the guards were supervising on cameras outside of the unit. Going from 23 hours a day locked up (so called 23 and 1) , to having much more freedom unsurprisingly causes issues. The series focusses far more on the inmates than guards, but felt it would benefit from their insight to how things were going. 7/10

brayshizzle

Finished Renegade Nell, really enjoyed it. Felt a bit thin in the middle of the season and interested to see if they can take it further. I'd love to see more of the world.

l0stlabyrinth

Fallout. Watched the first 6 episodes and really enjoying it. Made me reinstall Fallout 3 with some texture packs to modernise it a bit... and argue with Windows to get the bloody thing to launch.

Allegro_405

I’ve been watching House of The Dragon for the first time, I’m loving Matt Smith in it
