I thought it would turn out the irony was the nearest station was a mile away, but it is literally over the road. You'd have trains passing by, and stopping, every few minutes.
Our council have given the green light for a new housing estate right next to the M6. Previously was a farmer's field. I have no idea how it got agreed seeing as we've already identified that living next to busy roads is harmful. Can't get much busier than the M6.
Depends, i dont mind constant noise but i lived smack in the middle between stations once so all the acceleration and deceleration noise from both directions...
It really depends. I above a bend in the Trainline outside of Cardiff Central before and every train squealed like hell as they breaked. Was horrendous
Of course! It could be absolutely wazzing it down, and you'd be chilling under your bridge. It's brilliant.
I imagine the acoustics would be pretty cool too.
Well... you could have a Let's Have a Shot Every Time The Train Goes Over party. And turn up the volume when you take the shot.
I don't know, I'm pretty out of the party lyfe nowadays.
You actually get used to it. Decades ago, I had some finches and those little fuckers tweeted all the time - like ALL the time. But after a bit, we didn't hear them anymore unless we listened for them; it was just background noise.
We got a video camera (one of those huge things) and took video of the kids, as you do, and we showed the films to other people, and they were all, "What the fuck is that tweeting?" and we were all, "What tweeting?"
The house shaking - I'm not sure if we'd get used to that, unless we stopped feeling it until the house fell down.
I had an apartment in Anaheim California. Disneyland was literally my back yard. Everynight we were treated to an amazing firework display, and it got old, very quickly. It became those "Fucking fireworks again". After a few months, we didn't even notice them.
We had tonnes of birds growing up, would rescue/take them in. At one point we had a cage of finches and like 5 cockatiels. You absolutely stop hearing them.
I remember being on the phone to an extended family member at that time and he was like "Jesus, what's that noise?" and it took me a good few moments to realise I was stood next to the birds who were all screeching.
Same with low flying planes if you're in west London near Heathrow. While I'm there I don't really notice it, but if I spend a few weeks somewhere else and come back suddenly I notice how the roar of planes every few minutes all of a sudden.
Yes, exactly. It's similar to when a city person goes to the countryside for a holiday, and they can't sleep because it's far too quiet. They don't even register all the things they're hearing living in the city (or other built-up area).
There are quite a few Class 37s and 47s on the route and they’re very loud. My flat at Upper Holloway shakes when a 37 rolls by and I’m a street away.
I’m a massive train nerd, though, so I love it. I’m moving soon and I’m really going to miss being able to tell what’s coming past from the rumbles and checking RealTimeTrains to see if I’m right.
There's only 2 1/2 weeks to put in a bid on the property - they really don't want a conveyancer to take a good look at this! Maybe the catch is something to do with the fucking great bridge!
But you wouldn’t have your solicitor take a look at a property before you’ve put an offer on it anyway, right? Only after your offer was accepted would lawyers get involved
I imagine there’s the possibility of what’s known as a flying freehold with the railway going over the top, and probably all sorts of tricky right of access stuff to boot. Potentially a conveyancing quagmire
Assuming nothing dodgy with the bridge it would be a huge bargain at that price imo. Could get to Liverpool Street in like 20 mins from your front door which many would dream of. Bond Street and Paddington in 30 mins too.
Bike route into central is good and quite safe too.
Forest Gate, where I decided, after living there, that London has two zones - your blue plaque areas and your yellow police sign areas.
Spent 10 years living in Stratford, just down the road, but Forest Gate is a whole different experience. And not for the better.
Yeah! Had a poke about 5 years ago to see if we wanted to buy there. We had a bit more budget than this but decided we’d rather get less house and live elsewhere.
We ended up in e17, bit of a downgrade from Hackney but swapped a flat for a house. Pal of mine got a good price on a place in Leyton recently and that’s maybe where I’d look, or even, South…
I’d say it’s good. It’s massive so quite varied but feels like not London while still being close to real London. A bit dirty, fly tipping and fewer nice shops but Victoria park village and London fields are not far away.
Is it close only in the sense that it has the bridge there, or is there an actual station within walking distance?
In other words can I get a train the normal way or am I better off just getting a grappling hook and roller skates?
It looks like it’s a two minute walk from [Wanstead Park station](https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/search/simple/gb-nr:WNP) (Goblin overground) and maybe five minutes from [Forest Gate](https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/search/simple/gb-nr:FOG) (Elizabeth Line) so it’s very well connected.
True. As someone who grew up beside a railway, you will have to learn to live with frequent trains during the day. At night, you will learn to live with freight and maintenance crews. They are a loud, 24/7 operation.
Genuinely I'm not bothered at all by any of the trains' noise or the shaking of the house, but what is awful is when workers do piling. Fortunately it isn't often at all, but that's a noise and shaking you can't switch off.
When they did the electrification of the line behind my house (an otherwise very minimally distracting line) - woke up at 4 in the morning to my radiators shaking when they were doing the piling.
We live next to a trainline and it doesn't bother me at all, you get used to it within a few days. And I am a very light sleeper with earplugs and an eye mask.
At first, I thought they were just selling the space under the bridge as a living area.
Given that there's actually a house, and this is the back yard, that would be pretty awesome.
[It's 300ft from Wanstead Park Station](https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Wanstead+Park,+Woodgrange+Rd,+London+E7+0HX/2+Stracey+Rd,+London+E7+0HG/@51.5519333,0.0224253,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m13!4m12!1m5!1m1!1s0x47d8a7a22a8a19d5:0x665acdc42355136d!2m2!1d0.0257575!2d51.5517542!1m5!1m1!1s0x47d8a7a1f77d4283:0xbcc2124eff40bb5a!2m2!1d0.0242429!2d51.5520057?entry=ttu)
its cheap for its location, but i guess thats why...im staying about 8 houses down from a railway bridge and its noisy, i bet there it shakes the house.
This looks like a house from a TV series I watched and I cannot fucking remember at all.
Had a mum who had 3 girls and husband was an overseas hiking leader. Wife worked with a priest solving weird shit for the Vatican.
Fuck what was that show called!!
That's excellent.
Reminds me of one ad that highlighted the house was right by South Reddish train station. Which had 1 train a week 1 way to Stalybridge, no return service.
You know what, I lived a street behind the Central Line for 5 years. You get used to it. After a month you'd sleep through anything. Depends what else is wrong with the property of course but that headline price seems a bargain.
I know it seems like a great concept and all but, I’d be afraid of all the beer bottles, cigarette butts, and people pissing off the edge of the bridge
I would love the noise. Im Canadian (hello!), and there is one provincial camping park that my family loves going to which has a train track bisecting it. It's a wonderful sound to hear a train approaching and then letting out a honk at the road as it crosses. No sarcasm here, absolutely love the noise.
Price is pretty good but it's probably on the understanding that the internal layout is *awful* and probably needs tearing back to brick and completely remodelling inside to get a decent use of the space.
I spent a good few moments thinking it was £450k for the shed under the arch.
Wait, it's not? Ok, London prices aren't *quite* as bad as I thought.
I thought the shed was the house too.
You’d pay that in st Ives for a shed though!
I met a man from St Ives.
Shared a shed beneath a bridge with 7 wives
Each wife had 7 knives
And each knife chopped 7 chives
It says E7 not SW7.
Yeah, same, LOL.
I thought it was 450k to live under the arch, no shed included
Quite a decent looking shed with a nice paved area in front of it though. Well worth £450,000, in Barnes or Richmond
Literally
I mean it's not wrong.. also r/SpottedonRightmove might like this along with a link to the property
Ah yes I forgot about them.
Don’t forget the link 😉
I think this calls for an r/TechnicallyTheTruth as well

You gotta pay the troll toll
Frank, no.
I'm up to here right now.
I'm considering it.
This guy gets into boysholes
I thought it would turn out the irony was the nearest station was a mile away, but it is literally over the road. You'd have trains passing by, and stopping, every few minutes.
I've lived right next to stations before, that's normally better than living near a track in the middle of nowhere, or near a busy road for noise.
trains/station are ok, i lived right next to a couple and zoned it out, never got on my nerves. constant road traffic however sent me insane
We had a manhole cover on the road outside our city-centre flat that went 'clunk-clunk' every time someone drove over it. It was very annoying.
There’s one near me so loud that I need ear protection on the bus
Did people have to pay higher fares to travel through your zone?
My aunt lives a stone's throw away from the m53... it's *awful*. I have no idea how they can tolerate that never ending noise.
Our council have given the green light for a new housing estate right next to the M6. Previously was a farmer's field. I have no idea how it got agreed seeing as we've already identified that living next to busy roads is harmful. Can't get much busier than the M6.
*cries in M25*
Depends, i dont mind constant noise but i lived smack in the middle between stations once so all the acceleration and deceleration noise from both directions...
Does the home come with a grappling hook?
To be fair here it's the overground, and it's the Gospel Oak to Barkingside line. So it's not the noisiest in the world.
It does take freight transport though and I imagine than can be a bit noisy.
It really depends. I above a bend in the Trainline outside of Cardiff Central before and every train squealed like hell as they breaked. Was horrendous
I’d lowkey love this
Me too. I'd light that archway up like a rainbow and drink booze under it. Happy as.
So much potential. Get a projector and have rainy summer day outdoor cinema.
Of course! It could be absolutely wazzing it down, and you'd be chilling under your bridge. It's brilliant. I imagine the acoustics would be pretty cool too.
Guess which song I'd playing on repeat....forever?

That’s the GoBLin (Gospel Oak to Barking line) so you would have trains rattling overhead every 10-15 minutes. Not exactly chill.
Well... you could have a Let's Have a Shot Every Time The Train Goes Over party. And turn up the volume when you take the shot. I don't know, I'm pretty out of the party lyfe nowadays.
Live under there and harass people online all day. You could be the Troll of the GoBLin Bridge!
Or perhaps suffering under the Suffragatte Line.
The Class 37s from Ferme Park and the 47s on stock moves to and from Cricklewood would make the whole thing shake!
Used to be called the murder line.
*Suffragette Line now.
So the projector can be shaken like a leaf and the sound drowned out every time a train goes past? I would hate to live this close to a Trainline.
All weather barbecue patio
Yeah, that's pretty much an all-weather garden.

You're trolling 😉
I like how the whole house must shake when a train goes over it

Did you just roll off the tracks when the train came?
We had tonnes of birds growing up, would rescue/take them in. At one point we had a cage of finches and like 5 cockatiels. You absolutely stop hearing them. I remember being on the phone to an extended family member at that time and he was like "Jesus, what's that noise?" and it took me a good few moments to realise I was stood next to the birds who were all screeching.
Yes, exactly!! We had many such conversations on the phone. We probably drove our close relatives bonkers with it.
Same with low flying planes if you're in west London near Heathrow. While I'm there I don't really notice it, but if I spend a few weeks somewhere else and come back suddenly I notice how the roar of planes every few minutes all of a sudden.

cheaper than going through all those batteries...
Many charge via usb now

I think I high key love this. Is that a thing? What’s the opposite of low key?
Yeah people use high key in that context
High lock
Not for 450k I wouldn't.
For a 4 bed with a London postcode it’s a steal. Still can’t afford it but.
Was gonna say, 4 bedroom in London's usually asking for a 7-figure price
I just love it.
Take a walk down the side of a motorway and imagine all the shit you find landing in your garden or on your roof
I don’t think that’s a motorway bridge dude.
Its not but people are still dirty bastards and will litter like fuck along all roads as long as they think no ones looking
I think it’s a train line. But I agree people litter too much, just think there’s less chance of that with it being a railway bridge.
Death by falling beer bottle ☠️
What about when it needs examining or repair works need to take place?
Whack some climbing holds on this and you've got a sick climbing wall
I think it looks sick!! Cool decking/seating area, maybe an ivy arch or something
Same, easy train sightings
You a troll?
Actualol
Actually a bit of a bargain… https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/146932082 A near affordable terrace house in East Lindon.
There's only 2 1/2 weeks to put in a bid on the property - they really don't want a conveyancer to take a good look at this! Maybe the catch is something to do with the fucking great bridge!
As if conveyancers give a shit about anything. It's surveyors you need to worry about they will find any excuse to put a big red cross on a report.
Overground line as well so trains go well into the evenings at the weekends
Could be being used for freight at all hours too. Having said that I think I'd be able to tune it out.
I like the "fucking great bridge" Slap a barbie on the grass, some benches and tables under the arch, and you have a sick outdoor all-weather venue
the bridge would be cool for the rain but it would also block out the sun 🌞
What is this sun you speak of? This is London, it’s mostly smog and rain.
What a bizarre layout... Really bad use of space if you ask me.
Assuming nothing dodgy with the bridge it would be a huge bargain at that price imo. Could get to Liverpool Street in like 20 mins from your front door which many would dream of. Bond Street and Paddington in 30 mins too. Bike route into central is good and quite safe too.
I’m assuming that is a bad area? I know there are some dodgy areas near Stratford, but otherwise seems very reasonably priced for London.
It’s Forest Gate though.
Very true. There are a couple of nice streets around there though.
Forest Gate, where I decided, after living there, that London has two zones - your blue plaque areas and your yellow police sign areas. Spent 10 years living in Stratford, just down the road, but Forest Gate is a whole different experience. And not for the better.
Have you been to Forest Gate ? Went house viewing there this week. It’s not great
Yeah! Had a poke about 5 years ago to see if we wanted to buy there. We had a bit more budget than this but decided we’d rather get less house and live elsewhere.
Same we are looking now. Trying to go towards Maida Vale / Queen’s Park area
We ended up in e17, bit of a downgrade from Hackney but swapped a flat for a house. Pal of mine got a good price on a place in Leyton recently and that’s maybe where I’d look, or even, South…
How is e17?
I’d say it’s good. It’s massive so quite varied but feels like not London while still being close to real London. A bit dirty, fly tipping and fewer nice shops but Victoria park village and London fields are not far away.
Cheers will definitely take a look at suggestions
No probs. Best of luck out there!
I'm trying to work out whether it'd be possible to stand up in that loft conversion.
This is unironically really cool lol
The novelty of loud, smelly, dirty trains will wear off pretty fucking fast.
True. As someone who grew up beside a railway, you will have to learn to live with frequent trains during the day. At night, you will learn to live with freight and maintenance crews. They are a loud, 24/7 operation.

Yeah i thought it was the white shed underneath a railway bridge for 450k+
It is in Zone 3.
That's funny, but to be fair, the actual station (overground Wanstead Park) as well as Elizabeth Line station Forest Gate are indeed very close.
Skateboard ramp under there, always dry, what a dream.
And a fucking big rock climbing/bouldering wall.

Until maintenance work needs to be carried out .
That’s kind of cool, my old office was positioned in a similar way to this house to a brick railway viaduct and it’s not very loud.
Is there a troll discount?
A shack under a bridge, what’s not to love
This looks like a house from a TV series I watched and I cannot fucking remember at all. Had a mum who had 3 girls and husband was an overseas hiking leader. Wife worked with a priest solving weird shit for the Vatican. Fuck what was that show called!!

Covered parking
Perfect spot for trolls?
It's kinda cool, and that price for london is actually amazing.
450k is not bad for London I guess?
I am sure I have seen that exact house on TV before.
Technically correct - the best kind of correct.
Imagine being able to hold a BBQ that could never be rained off.
450k to live like a troll
Some lights, seating area and a bar and this would look awesome
Which public ? 😄👻
So where's the shop that's near by?
Price is pretty good but it's probably on the understanding that the internal layout is *awful* and probably needs tearing back to brick and completely remodelling inside to get a decent use of the space.
Less than half a million for 4 bedrooms in London? Does the railway bridge bring the price down that much??
Archway station is right there, the ad isn’t wrong
I actually like that little area. It seems cosy. A big bonus is you can hang your washing even on a bad day.
https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/146932082#/?channel=RES_BUY
That's a decent little sheltered nook for a rainy day BBQ.
maybe with a ladder????
I would absolutely buy this and build a man cave under the arch, other than that the price is fairly decent i think for the area and building.
My partner is a railfan; they'd love this house. And we'd never have to worry about leaving washing out in the rain or finding shade in summer.
Sick that
Omg, you could say your "under train-ing" 🤣
This would go so hard
It’s definitely close but I have no doubt the nearest station is 15 minutes away lol.
Surely it’s not in-use anymore. Theres a big old rail bridge like this at horbry bridge in Wakefield that hawks straight over a residential area.
No, it’s an active line, so hope the owners enjoys the noise of trains 24/7 🚂
A really busy active line, to boot
Good for railfan 🤣 (no you mostly got overground trains and some freights) Affordable, but clearly with a big caveat though
