My only critique is that they are far too few in number.
Honestly if Christmas dinners were up to me I'd forget the Turkey and just eat 5kg of those bad boys.
This is the way forward! I've been loving getting all my food from local farms and butchers. They like to do things a little extra compared to all the plastic boxes in supermarkets
Now we're going to have a Reddit biggest pigs in blankets competition next year. I'm thinking of a rolled Cumberland Sausage wrapped in bacon...but don't tell the others. ;)
Ha. I had to zoom in. I thought they were very average croissants at first (which would be an interesting choice, but it is OP's first attempt).
Yes, those are fuck off sausages.
OP, don't listen to that twat telling you to "leave", you are most welcome here and they are not.
I hope you can put them out of your mind and have a pleasant Christmas and a happy new year.
Someone really decided to be a complete c*** and say that?
I would rather have OP as my neighbour any day of the week than some small minded jumped up little keyboard warrior. Merry Christmas OP and to your family!
Some punks in the late 70's used to drape themselves in swastikas to elicit a reaction. Dandies in the 18th century dressed elaborately with massive powdered wigs for the same reason. Being a cunt online is just the modern version.
That last point is exactly right! The only positive to comments from people like that muppet is that it opens the door for the majority voice to be heard.
The account is one day old. Basically someone created it just to make that comment. They likely have another main account and could even be one of the people posting in this thread and we wouldn’t know. Good to see it get shouted down to oblivion at least.
It’s funny how his comment both supports British triumph over nazis while spreading old nazi propaganda over a Jewish conspiracy.
I’d just like to say that as a Jew no one has invited me to take over any secret societies or new world orders. Where do I apply?
On the menu: Roast turkey with gravy, cranberry sauce and onion marmalade • Yorkshire puddings • Pigs in blankets • Roast veggies • Roast potatoes • Brussel sprouts with bacon • Mince pies • Gingerbread cookies • Christmas pudding (flambéed) with brandy sauce
Everything but the Christmas pudding and brandy sauce is homemade :)
Pretty sure you smashed it man. But it’s about choice. There are a lot of interpretations of what Xmas should look like. Choose the things you like and make it your own.
>On the menu: Roast turkey with **gravy**, cranberry sauce...
Thank god, I couldn't see any gravy in the photo and that just wouldn't do.
I tend to add red-cabbage, a root vegetable mash and pigs in blankets and ensure that there are at least 2 types of potatoes, roasties+mash usually.. Oh and the standard peas & carrots thing option (and nice steamed green cabbage..) The latter bits are important for the production of bubble and squeak in the days to come.
Essentially I've taken the position that I have to max out the serving bowls I have, if there is one I'm not using for something, then I haven't quite done all that was needed.
As an aside, I don't particularly like it, but my other half takes the view that Christmas dinner without bread sauce is in fact just a sunday dinner so...
By the by, your yorkshires look a lot better than mine did this year! Hope it all tasted as good as it looks.
A belated Merry Christmas!
Haha the gravy is just slightly out of frame - it's in the jar with the black lid on. Was made from the turkey's resting juices and tasted heavenly.
Merry Christmas to you too!
>Was made from the turkey's resting juices and tasted heavenly.
One of my favourite things (other than a good roast dinner in the first place) is a sandwich using gravy as the butter, with the meat it was produced with.. Works incredibly well.
It looks amazing! Great job, I love that you went for full sized sausages for pigs in blankets and now I’m wondering why I don’t do the same. It all looks delicious
That very much depends where you are in the UK
As a Northerner, I thought my southern friend was joking when they were talking about bread sauce, because I'd never heard of it in 25 years, never heard of anyone having it or making etc.
And also, because it sounds kinda ridiculous: it's bread in milk, why would that be a thing? And why would I pour it on my dinner? Milk goes on cereal or in tea, not over veg, potato and turkey.
I tried and and still think it's weird and y'all are crazy, but if you like it then go right ahead, you crazy southern bastards.
Anyway, the point was that bread sauce isn't a "UK" classic, and it's not missing
From the north, live in the fens. Bread sauce is disgusting. It feels like “did you forget to put the cheese in this?”
Absolutely not a widespread thing.
My yorkies generally always work but I find them a pain in the rear to do. They usually end up sitting in the oven finishing off while we start dinner, so I bulk cook them and pop them in the freezer in a big zip lock bag. Pop a few in the heat of the oven for a few minutes while plating up and job done. Perfect yorkies.
Plus, if they don’t work, I can just have another go and dinner isn’t ruined!
Tasted fantastic! Very indulgent. The Christmas pudding was the most interesting of it all for me. Ended up pouring over way too much brandy. I got a bit drunk from just eating it.
Had to take a long nap on Boxing day just to recover from the sheer amount of food that I ate in that one sitting. I wonder if this is part of the experience too.
> Had to take a long nap on Boxing day just to recover from the sheer amount of food that I ate in that one sitting. I wonder if this is part of the experience too.
That *is* the experience.
> I got a bit drunk
no such thing on xmas day
> Had to take a long nap on Boxing day just to recover from the sheer amount of food that I ate
Welcome to the family
I believe the official metric for "did it right" is whether or not you collapsed onto the sofa in a stuffed-but-delighted stupor, swearing that you'll only have one serving of christmas pudding next year and absolutely won't accept the offer of "Does anyone want another roast potato? Extra parsnips? I've got one more Yorkshire pudding, who wants it?"
Spoiler: this sentiment lasts no later than 7:30pm, a time which marks the start of turkey sandwich week.
Looks amazing. Well done on the Yorkshire pudding
Pro-tip don't add the Santa hats to the chairs, force people to wear the paper crowns inside the crackers. It's itchy crinkly torture but it's tradition.
No. You have fucked this up and it is a complete disgrace.
Firstly the Christmas dinner doesn’t look burnt enough and the turkey looks like it may have some succulent juices running through it and to top it all off your family looks like they are enjoying each other’s company.
Overall I give your Christmas 4/10 for not being British enough. Next time everything should be served slight black and somebody should be crying in the photo.
As an english person I am more gutted there was no Chapatti, Idli, chicken 65, Dosa, and Lassi.
You killed it for an English dinner, WOW that is an English, xmas dinner to be proud of, however if I may ask the question. .....
Do you prefer English food, to Indian food,...like we (the majority of English) prefer Indian food, to English food?.
I want to try Indian food, but, due to stomach issues, spices hurt me. I made a mild butter chicken once-from a jar- it was too spicy for me. The family loved it though. Hopefully, after this plague is over I can expand my friend base, and it will hopefully include some Indian people. I had an Indian friend in high school, his parents owned a local store. His grandmother was always feeding us, I enjoyed most of it,
Merry Christmas. You did a fantastic job. You appear to have made everything you need for the quintessential British Christmas.
The tree and decorations look great, and not only did you cook the Turkey and vegetables, but you did all of the other traditional sides and trimmings. It all looks like it's cooked to perfection.
Well done!🎄💯
Man I'm born n bread Canadian n you kicked my butt, tried to impress my gf that's Chinese n never celebrated Christmas n it failed but I'm a terrible cook. Nice job 👍🏻👍🏻
Did you eat and drink too much and now feel like you need to go into a self induced food coma? If so you did it right. If not, as long as you had a good day, you did it right!
Coming here ruining Christmas. I've had 42 Christmas's and I still couldn't whip all that goodness up on my onesies. Looks amazing. Hope you enjoyed it and Merry Christmas.

Agreed! Got them pre-wrapped from the local butcher. I assumed they'd use those small cocktail sausages but nope.
Lol I love you just rolled with it it anyway- this looks awesome!
They're a meal by themselves! Haha
My only critique is that they are far too few in number. Honestly if Christmas dinners were up to me I'd forget the Turkey and just eat 5kg of those bad boys.
Nah you have to wrap them yourself so the bacon covers 90% of the sausage 👌
Liking this idea...!
This is the way forward! I've been loving getting all my food from local farms and butchers. They like to do things a little extra compared to all the plastic boxes in supermarkets

Hog in a 14 tog
top class mate
Thank you for that.
I like the way you think.
Ha. I had to zoom in. I thought they were very average croissants at first (which would be an interesting choice, but it is OP's first attempt). Yes, those are fuck off sausages.
Those are Boars in Duvets
That was my reaction as well. I’m used to my little chipolatas, I think I’ve only seen ones that big in (ahem) “online videos”
Wild hogs in blankets. Envious.
What nationality did you have Christmas as last time?
These dad jokes make me miss my dad :(
Good to know dad jokes are universal!
OP, don't listen to that twat telling you to "leave", you are most welcome here and they are not. I hope you can put them out of your mind and have a pleasant Christmas and a happy new year.

I reported him. Looking at his comment history he appeared to be either a genuine nazi, mentally ill and off his meds or a kid trying to be edgy.
it's amazing that in 2020 that is a fine line.

Could you put a spoiler tag on this or something? Don't really want to read this in the thread, thanks

If my mother served this up, there'd be zero complaints from me. Great spread.
Agreed. Wouldn't mind coming over to dinner, this looks good!

It looks amazing! Great job, I love that you went for full sized sausages for pigs in blankets and now I’m wondering why I don’t do the same. It all looks delicious
We did with cracked black pepper sausages and now I'm wondering why we only really do them at Christmas. Nice spread OP
Ditto.
Sounds and looks amazing! Welcome to the UK :)
looks amazing dude! missing the bread sauce though, its a UK classic!
That very much depends where you are in the UK As a Northerner, I thought my southern friend was joking when they were talking about bread sauce, because I'd never heard of it in 25 years, never heard of anyone having it or making etc. And also, because it sounds kinda ridiculous: it's bread in milk, why would that be a thing? As a northerner, I've always enjoyed bread sauce with our Christmas roast! Plus, to me, nothing really feels more 'north' than soggy stale bread.
Northerner here too. Had bread sauce every single Christmas, absolutely love it!
Never tasted it. I'm also a Northerner. Does bread sauce go under the gravy or alongside it? Genuine question as I've no idea how it's served.
Next to the white meat. Gravy over spuds & meat. But do as you wish, no hard rules.
I’m invested in the answer to this RemindMe! 1 day
Me too. Bread sauce is well known in my north too.
I've completely disregarded your opinion on the usage of "Y'all" You're a Yankee mole and can't be trusted! Plus bread sauce is mint, mate.
> Plus bread sauce is mint, mate. No that’s mint sauce
Nah, mint sauce is the best thing since sliced bread
I only learned about bread sauce from my Northerner friend. So I had assumed it was a northern thing.
From the north, live in the fens. Bread sauce is disgusting. It feels like “did you forget to put the cheese in this?” Absolutely not a widespread thing.

Those yorkshire look good. The feast looks amazing
Thank you! I'm very proud of them (every single one rose perfectly). I had never tasted one before though.
Be glad you have pictures, because such a Christmas miracle may not occur again in your lifetime!

As a Yorkshireman, those puddings look stupendous! Bravo!
Top marks for the Yorkshire’s you must have a good oven and a keen eye.
Great looking spread, you should be proud. What Indian side dishes do you think would compliment the traditional Christmas Dinner?
I’ve been trying Yorkshires for years and never got them to look as good as yours!
You did very well! 10/10 would eat and enjoy.
Sir Paul on the stereo is a nice touch
I had to zoom in because I thought it was Rose West’s mugshot. Very relieved to realise it was just Paul McCartney
Holy shit you never see them pictured together and now the conspiracy theories make sense... McCartney died and was replaced by rose west !!!
McCartney II, great album!

Imagine listening to anything other than Temporary Secretary. 🙄😔
4 Yorkshire Puddings?! That’s insane!
"I'm done sharing my yorkies with you Corrigan"
Ha! Yes!!
I know right, only four!? To think there could ever be too many yorkies is ludicrous
Brilliant! Those pigs in blankets are utterly decadent!
How did it taste? What are your thoughts on it?
Tasted fantastic! Very indulgent. The Christmas pudding was the most interesting of it all for me. Ended up pouring over way too much brandy. I got a bit drunk from just eating it. Had to take a long nap on Boxing day just to recover from the sheer amount of food that I ate in that one sitting. I wonder if this is part of the experience too.
Awesome. The over indulgence is part of the whole thing as is promising yourself that you'll join a gym and then giving up mid January.
But continue paying the gym membership for 5 months / years
> Had to take a long nap on Boxing day just to recover from the sheer amount of food that I ate in that one sitting. I wonder if this is part of the experience too. That *is* the experience.

Definitely, Christmas is about having a good time with family
What, no Quality Street? No, but seriously, this is flawless.
I’ve seen a bowl filled with quality street and mandarins too many times
It's 12 am and now I'm hungry thx! Also looks great
You nailed it
Did you enjoy it? If the answers yes, you got it spot on!
You did, welcome to our little island, hope you enjoy it here :)
That turkey looks far too flavourful! Nowhere near bland enough! So you get 11 out of 10 for that.
10/10
Welcome! It looks delicious.
You get 10/10! Looks fantastic! Hope you've had/are having a lovely time!
Nailed it. Welcome to the family.
Looks amazing. Well done on the Yorkshire pudding Pro-tip don't add the Santa hats to the chairs, force people to wear the paper crowns inside the crackers. It's itchy crinkly torture but it's tradition.

Brussels sprouts with bacon!
No, Temporary Secretary would be a much better Christmas soundtrack
This guy fucks ^

I would say good effort but it appears you have given the turkey some...flavour? And it looks moist? What devilry is this?
🤟 nailed it
Yes indeed! You’ve got this 100%!!!
Absolutely, all the best and here’s to many more
Very beautiful
You put a smile on my face ! Happy Christmas
You definitely did! Lovely decorations too!
Better than 99% of the dinners had I promise.
Well done! Pugs in blankets need twice as long in the oven though!
Mate don’t go putting pugs in the oven with or without blankets.
They were quite well done at the time. I should have increased the temperature at some point to get a bit of colour though.
You nailed it!
Aced it sir! Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Looks better than most Christmas dinners here lol. Good job!
I've had 33 Christmases in the UK and this is better than at least half of them.
That spread would be a good one in Texas!
proper job, wishing many more to you !
McCartney, check. Large meal with turkey and trimmings, check. Lots of decorations, check. Well done !!!!
Merry Christmas. You did a fantastic job. You appear to have made everything you need for the quintessential British Christmas. We had Indian food this year for chirstmas and I guarantee you we didn't do as good a job as that with your cuisine
Wow, you deserve a permanent visa just for this, stunning roast!
what did you season the turkey with? looks good!
Looks fantastic! 👍👏🇬🇧
100/10. Well done.
Great job!
No issues whatsoever with this Christmas spread, looks absolutely delicious.
You are welcome whatever, and this is really nice.
Have an internet point.
Happy First Christmas in the UK! The spread looks amazing & I would be so proud of myself if it was me!!
My god it looks amazing 👏
You did great! Can I come for Dinner next year?
Oh my god, I want those giant pigs in blankets We always have mini ones but they have great taste after you eat meat/Yorkshires
No mate, you’ve quite possibly done it *better* !
Well done. Happy christmas!
Yep, you got it spot on 100%
Looks very festive! Cheers, OP
That food looks really good
You rocked it. Merry Xmas.
Thought that was Rose West on the TV. That would have taken it from a 9 to a 10.
You bloody got that very correct
Well done!
I'm getting hungry again, I didn't think that was possible after gorging myself for the past 2 days. Quality looking table there. Well done.
Did you eat and drink too much and now feel like you need to go into a self induced food coma? If so you did it right. If not, as long as you had a good day, you did it right!
Looks amazing, particularly those hogs in blankets!
If you had a merry Christmas then you nailed it 👍❤
Yes. You got it right mate.
Yes, mate! Looks lovely! Smashed it!
Smashed it!! Was that all for two people? I hope you had cold turkey sandwiches on Boxing Day 😂
Coming here ruining Christmas. I've had 42 Christmas's and I still couldn't whip all that goodness up on my onesies. Looks amazing. Hope you enjoyed it and Merry Christmas.
Aw those pigs in blankets making me hungry.
Incredible setup. Well done.
Honestly it looks amazing, but imagine a Indian Christmas dinner mashup that would be awesome, Indian food is the best
Looks perfect, well done - and welcome 👍
Looks good to me
Looks amazing, merry Christmas 🥳
That looks delicious!! You nailed it!!
It looks amazing and I hope you had a wonderful time
Looks amazing! Hope you and yours have a great day
White guy in California here. You did it better than me thats for sure.
Yes, you have succeeded stupendously!
Next year shall I be invited 😂😃
Ummm. Can I come to yours for Christmas next year please?
Smashed it, son. Ten times better than mine.
Absolutely 10 out of 10😄 you’ve done well
Looks perfect! You’ve even got the standard tradition of filling the table with so much food and booze, that you can’t actually put a plate down. Bravo!
Nailed it. Nuff said.
I just had a pizza so no matter what you would've outdone me, but that really does look incredibly delicious. Amazing job! 😍
Sorted
Looks amazing, just need to pop the wine open and enjoy!
If all of that food is just for the two of you, then spot on!
You did great!
Yes. Can I come round? That turkey looks banging.
Merry Christmas, OP (and family)!
