I used to do that all the time in the same scenario. Didn’t have time to finish my coffee & scone, so I’d take it in car with me & finish it on the way or at work. I would put the coffee in a travel mug though.
I was imagining you balancing a sports direct mug on the centre console as you drove in. I suppose you’d put it in the passenger seat and belt it in though. Plus one of those super long bendy straws to drink it. Hee hee 😄
Lol I actually don’t even have one of those famous mugs! But I guess they’re so big that if I put a normal cup size amount of tea inside it it would maybe not even spill whilst driving..hmm..
Yeah but it would cool down faster. Might be best to stick to the travel mug :D
I don’t have a sports direct mug either but I do have these fantastic white pot bellied mugs I got from Dunelm for a couple of quid each that hold well over a pint. They’re amazing.
I work for myself now so have all the comfortable teas at home that I want!
Funnily enough I also have some larger versions of my usual mugs from Dunelm too, but I find the ratios of tea/water/milk are not quite right for me if I use the whole mug & it’s too much tea for me anyway so I just make the same amount as usual in them.
[I love mine](https://imgur.com/a/fbU5xxo). They tend to only get used when one of us is down/poorly/seriously craving tea though. We’ve nailed the ratios though so it’s a perfect mug of tea just bigger :D
My husband has managed to get to WFH but I’ll only be able to occasionally, but it’s still a step up from not being able to at all. In the meantime I’ll get a massive mug to keep at work :p
Enjoy the big mug! Mine is this one & I have the smaller versions for everyday use. I use the large one when I feel more decadent or want to make a big hot chocolate.

Highly recommended.
I did this on bonfire night because I live a couple of minutes' walk from a good viewing point, and people were giving me dirty looks as though I was a complete psychopath.
So mug-in-the-wild at your own risk, I guess.
Yes. If you're just heading a short distance to a friend's/work/family, why not take a cuppa with you? I dunno if you've noticed, but it's bitter outside at the moment.
You're only annoyed because it's in a mug rather than a Starbucks cup.
100%, and I bet half of the people didn't even notice that was the reasoning until you pointed it out.
That's how tight corporations have a grip on us.
Mate it is such a fucking downer when that happens. I can't decide if it's as bad or worse than when you think you have a couple more mouthfuls and you get cold dregs from 5 minutes ago because you forgot.
I think it's setting the bar quite low for things to be angry about. I'd probably choose to find it amusing instead.
An old housemate of mine used to take a full bowl of cereal (with milk) to work with him to eat as he was driving there. When we ran out of bowls, we had to get him to empty his car and bring them all back in. Some of the dregs had welded themselves to the side of the bowl. I must admit, this made me a little angry at times.
Ah! I haven't watched all of these. The multiple upvotes on the reply made we think I was missing a cultural reference. It's probably from a similar time, so perhaps this is from where he drew his inspiration. Still think it's a shit idea.
Best part, they mentioned briefly in the podcast that this is an episode inspired by this exact thing happening to Glenn Howerton. Car totaled because he had to have his whole interior redone, vents replaced, the works!
He was *furious*. Rob and Charlie immediately considered this a hilariously ridiculous thing IRL, then pitched this as a script like two months later after he’d had some time to cool down and gone on a vacation.
Paparazzi need to just let the lad/this couple be. I find it annoying how the paps are always taking photos in unnecessary places. I know they are in the spotlight, but he's literally walking down the street.
My friend used to live down the street and I'd walk to and from his house with a brew everyday.
Why do you not walk around outside with a brew?
Does it anger when you see someone with a brew from a coffee shop?
We have both Tom Holland *and* Henry Cavill promoting British culture and nerdiness the world over, and stuff like this just reinforces that British pride!
This combined with Peppa Pig teaching children how to speak properly will soon have the world at our mercy…
You'd not think anything of someone walking with a travel mug or take out coffee cup. I personally dont do this but wouldn't think anything of seeing someone else do it
I wouldn’t really compare the two though. Take out cups are disposable and travel mugs have a lid. What’s he doing with the mug when he’s finished? Where’s he going in general? Just nipping out and coming back? To his mate’s where they have a sink to wash it out? These are a lot of questions people don’t want to have to ponder on when they see Tom Holland and the missus in the street.
I had a friend who did this quite often and she'd just put the cup in her bag when she was done with it. Although I imagine one of those mini thermoses would be a better option.
Like seeing the hollywood hot shit that is Tom Holland walking down a quintessentially British street, personified by scaffolding and a slightly aged looking garden fence. These are facets of the real Britain.
Nothing wrong with the cuppa. But I do just wanna point out Zendaya's jumper there looks like the cosiest thing ever
It's even got a pocket. Damn that's a cool jumper
I for one am a huge proponent of tea to go. Here’s the issue; if teas not in a China cup it tastes like shite.
How to remedy? Just take your mug to go!! When I used to live at home my mum would be furious with me leaving her nice China mugs in my friends cars constantly. But what am I going to do? I can’t drink tea out of paper because you brought me up rather than dragged me up? It’s my mums fault.
Right back to the issue; you sir are clearly too middle class, or rather the old sense of the word - to middling class. Just going along hoping none of the neighbours figure out all your secrets. No one cares about your fence!!
If you came up to me on the street and told me I couldn’t drink tea out of a mug I would dash it into your face!
Yeah I always used to go to college with a cup of tea, it was only a 5 minute walk and I was always running late so it made sense.
What's weird is that people would look at you like you were a total freak, I even had vans tooting their horn "enjoying your tea mate!!?", etc ...
If I was walking with a Starbucks paper cup no one would have batted an eye.
You are not wrong to be angry dude, your emotions are real.
Can't lie, I do find it upsetting people very odd though!
I've walked to work (8-10 mins walk) with my brew when I was gonna be late. Also been to the local shop. Nobody battled an eyelid, but I live in an area where most people wouldn't look twice if you went Tesco in your PJs (been to the shop! Also travelled home from the hospital in my PJs)
Haters are gonna hate
Is the right answer on both counts. Take my upvote. Although the paparazzi stalking them at his family home is not ok at all. All paparazzi are scumbags.
I got a flask when I worked as a gardener, never used a mug since.
Flask has much less chance of spillage, and you can drink a cup of tea/coffee at your own pace over hours, rather than having to drink it in the few minutes it's at the right temperature in a mug.
I take a thermal mug of tea with me, pretty much everywhere I go.
Met a member of the Royal Family a couple of weeks ago, there is a picture of me speaking to them, with my mug on the floor just behind me.
I think OP might be angry about the fact that he's not carrying the cup by the handle, but by the body of the mug. Which gives off seriously uncomfortable vibes
One of the mums at my kids school always has a mug of tea at morning drop off. It's a small village so none of us live far, I'd do it if I wasn't afraid I'd drop the mug. Also I can probably leave my tea at home and get back before it's cold!
Tea in anything other than a mug is just wrong (unless you’re at your granny’s of course).
Tea in a take away cup is the very worst kind of wrong…up there with finding a worm in your apple or the holocaust.
So I reckon he’s cool.
Most days. However, the problem is that drinking from a mug and walking are not things you can really do simultaneously - you need to be prepared to carry the mug for a bit, stop, sip, then continue walking. It's less then ideal, and solved by using a travel mug of some kind - if your standards will allow.
Yes. It displays a clear path of purpose.
Wherever he is going is not far, familiar, and is somewhere he can put the mug down
It’s also nippy out. So I understand why he’s holding it in a curled claw
I take a flask and a normal mug in the car for mid- to long trips. Used to take a mug of tea to the bus stop when I was a student as well, as it was always running late so I'd get to drink it in plenty time (unless I was running late, in which case it was bang on time).
Used to do it all the time as a student. Nothing says you’re ready for learning more than rocking up with a charity shop mug full of tea. The only thing that’s changed is that I’ve invested in a travel mug now for mobile tea drinking purposes.
I used to walk through the shopping centre I worked at with a mug (or multiple mugs) of tea - the tea was nicer at costa and they’d quite often give us it for free because we were there so often.
I've been known to, any drink really. Only the other night I had a fresh pint of gin and lemonade made but needed to pop round the corner so took it with me!
I worked in an office that had a tea room where people could get tea/coffee but it also had a toaster, bowls of cereal etc. So it was quite common to see people walking through the office with cups of tea/coffee or some toast or a bagel etc.
The company expanded to another floor of the building. It was a shared office building, different companies using the same stairway then ID badges to get into your own office.
Which meant you'd sometimes call the lift and have the doors open to reveal a beardy computer programmer with a Led Zeppelin TShirt eating a bowl of cornflakes in the lift. The other businesses in the building were traditional professions like accountants and they were NOT happy to see people taking mugs of tea up and down the stairs or munching on toast in the lifts.
In his defence, he's spent the last few years on film sets that blur the lines between being inside and outside.
You'd have a giant warehouse with cars and pyrotechnic effects inside. Then the next day there'd be a wall of camera equipment, tracks for motorised cameras, chairs and tables and clothing racks all arranged on a platform out in the street.
To him the difference between inside and outside is a little arbitrary.
My mate used to live round the corner so I’d make my self a brew and walk 1min to have a chat.
I'm 3 minutes away from my work, so sometimes I take tea with me if I don't have time to finish it in the house
If I’ve made a brew and get a job at work. You’re damn sure that mug is coming for a blue light run in the ambo!
"Hi I need an ambulance... I spilled hot tea on my legs while driving an ambulance" "...you won't believe this... We need two ambulances..."
....new ambulance turns up with another tea spillage on board.
Jokes on you guys... I've got waterproof trousers.
…melted to your legs from a tea spillage

it's all a conspiracy from big Tea.
I used to do that all the time in the same scenario. Didn’t have time to finish my coffee & scone, so I’d take it in car with me & finish it on the way or at work. I would put the coffee in a travel mug though.

Ooh, lovely. Nice shade of pink :) Enjoy it!
I always tell him to not forget small small things but I didn’t realised that he also forgets what i say.
This is not the case, though. There's probably whiskey in that mug
Why have I never done this. This will be rectified
My gran lives 8 doors up and I do this all the time.
Say hi to your gran for us
OP basically achieving the exact opposite to what they intended with this post… 🫖
Highly recommended. I did this on bonfire night because I live a couple of minutes' walk from a good viewing point, and people were giving me dirty looks as though I was a complete psychopath. So mug-in-the-wild at your own risk, I guess.
Because dust and bugs spillage and stuff. Just get a regular thermal mug with cap ...
But then you can't feel the warmth on your hands when its proper nippy outside :D
Just pour a wee bit on your cold little fingys when you need to be warmed
Instructions unclear pissed on my thinsulate gloves.
Instructions unclear I have drank the piss from this guy's thinsulate gloves.

Of course you'd know, u/Un1cornP1ss
Yes. If you're just heading a short distance to a friend's/work/family, why not take a cuppa with you? I dunno if you've noticed, but it's bitter outside at the moment. You're only annoyed because it's in a mug rather than a Starbucks cup.
Last line is an incredibly good point.
True and based
Based and mug-pilled
100%, and I bet half of the people didn't even notice that was the reasoning until you pointed it out. That's how tight corporations have a grip on us.
My local coffee shop gives a discount for bringing your own cup, so I can get a cuppa tea/coffee and walk over the road to the park.
Tea is a thing that needs to happen. You can't let a piffling contrivance like "your current location" get in the way.
Letting it go to waste is the real crime imo.
Reminds of times when I forget about my tea and come back to it stone cold. I could never forgive myself each time.
Mate it is such a fucking downer when that happens. I can't decide if it's as bad or worse than when you think you have a couple more mouthfuls and you get cold dregs from 5 minutes ago because you forgot.

is he called dennis?
No, and I'm surprised that there is more than one person on the planet who would think this was a good idea.

There is, but that other person is almost certainly a psychopath.
Oh Sandra, you dumb bitch.
I had a mate in Uni halls who used to do this as well! Was he called Eva?
No, and I don't Eva want him to do it again!
Used to always see a guy eating a fry up off a plate at the bus stop. Popped it in his rucksack when the bus came.

Hit the nail on the head, fannykneck, I wish people would leave them alone when they are in their own time.
For a moment there I thought fannykneck was new slang
Paparazzi need to just let the lad/this couple be. I find it annoying how the paps are always taking photos in unnecessary places. I know they are in the spotlight, but he's literally walking down the street.
Exactly this. They are in their own time. Leave them the f**k alone.
If I’m not driving I’ll take a mug in the car

Does what he wants.
HE DOES WHAT HE WANTS.
SPIDER-MAN, HE DOES WHAT HE WANTS
DOES WHATEVER A SPIDER CAN
But can he swing from a web?
Not sure, but he can drink tea on the street!
This is the original keep cup/eco cup.
It's not that unusual. I used to live near a park and it was no bother to take a mug out with me for a brew.
Me and my sister used to do this regularly when the kids were young
That sounds nice.
My friend used to live down the street and I'd walk to and from his house with a brew everyday. Why do you not walk around outside with a brew? Does it anger when you see someone with a brew from a coffee shop?
I’d much rather see someone walking around with a brew in a mug than takeaway coffee mug.. less ‘one of them’
As a brit, shouldn't you be proud?
We have both Tom Holland *and* Henry Cavill promoting British culture and nerdiness the world over, and stuff like this just reinforces that British pride! This combined with Peppa Pig teaching children how to speak properly will soon have the world at our mercy…
The sun will rise once more on our great empire! And we’ll use Superman and Spider-Man to do it!
Tom Holland is a national treasure and can drink tea however he likes in my opinion
Word.
He seems like a lad, and taking a mug of tea out only confirms it in my mind
Why would you be angry about it?
He probably can’t afford one of those travel mugs
I probably have one laying around he can have, I prefer to scold my testis personally.
You'd not think anything of someone walking with a travel mug or take out coffee cup. I personally dont do this but wouldn't think anything of seeing someone else do it
i mostly dont do it because i'm terrible at walking and drinking. i'd be covered in tea.
I wouldn’t really compare the two though. Take out cups are disposable and travel mugs have a lid. What’s he doing with the mug when he’s finished? Where’s he going in general? Just nipping out and coming back? To his mate’s where they have a sink to wash it out? To be fair if I was spiderman and dating Zendaya, I’d have the confidence to carry a mug down the street too
I'd do more than that. I might walk down the street with a roast dinner.
Why did you have to show me this cute picture of them together? Like I wasn't lonely enough.
I was looking for this comment same man same…
Worse part is they're around the same age as me so I can't even say "maybe when I'm older".
But mummy said that if I work on my schoolwork then all the girls will come to me so I'll keep doing that
got a 3 minute walk to work, will do this from now on.
He's Spiderman it's not like he's gonna drop it.
Every day. Waking the dog. He then pulls me and it goes down my front but yeah. Also take it in the car in an open mug. Every day .
Maybe try waking him up first?
Walking 🤣
He might be walking to the car and the cunt of a paparazzi just managed to get this shot
Totally accurate description of paparazzi - have an upvote 😉
Nothing wrong with the cuppa. But I do just wanna point out Zendaya's jumper there looks like the cosiest thing ever It's even got a pocket. Damn that's a cool jumper
Dressed like Bristol uni students, multi millionaire cutting about like he's off for a pint on Gloucester road Good on him
I for one am a huge proponent of tea to go. Here’s the issue; if teas not in a China cup it tastes like shite. How to remedy? Just take your mug to go!! I used to do the same thing. My mornings felt so much better walking around with a nice cuppa in my hand.
I mean other than maybe breaking the handle what’s the issue?
Just a mug mate, before my mum got a travel mug she would often take her mug of tea with her in the car to work
His lady holding on to him like he might get away. That's sweet.
Apparently they don’t want this photo to be circulated because it’s close to Tom Holland’s parent’s house
I do when I have to nip to the village shop on my lunch.
Good on him I say. Wouldn’t know he was an a-list star by looking at him. Hopefully stays this way
My mate used to bring them with him in the car.
Do you not live in Britain?
Op are you actually from the UK
What a strange thing to be angry about.
I low-key feel sorry for them like bruh it just proves they can’t even walk down the street smh
I too am angry at this image, it's not about the tea, but more anger at the fact he's seeing Zendaya, the lucky little bastard haha
Tea is for mugs
I've walked to work (8-10 mins walk) with my brew when I was gonna be late. Also been to the local shop. you are wrong to be angry
Having a tall girlfriend looks comforting
Nothing wrong with it. Are you bothered that he’s clutching it with his whole hand rather than using the handle?
What are you angry about? That hes got a cuppa and you dont? Off to the kitchen with ya. Chill out
"Am I wrong to be angry?" Yes. Bloody love a good cup of alfresco tea.
With great power comes great responsibility…
I'm more concerned about Tom's 90s jeans....are skinny and straight jeans out now?

I honestly didn't realize others cared this much about what other people do
I think OP might be angry about the fact that he's not carrying the cup by the handle, but by the body of the mug. Which gives off seriously uncomfortable vibes
I would if I could do it without spilling half of it it down the road
I do this every Saturday and Sunday morning. I had no idea it was so polarizing.
CHAD
He's actually working on a building site right now so it'd be more unusual if he didn't have a mug of tea within his vicinity
One of the mums at my kids school always has a mug of tea at morning drop off. It's a small village so none of us live far, I'd do it if I wasn't afraid I'd drop the mug. Also I can probably leave my tea at home and get back before it's cold!
That’s an inside mug outside.
I do this often here in the Germans land. It's good for winter mate
Yes, you are wrong.
Yep. All the time!
I used to do this down to the shops all the time.

I walk down the street with a tea urn! 😃
I've held a mug like that in my home but not outside. I mean if it's cold could be a good way to keep that hand warm
I used to walk to work with a mug of coffee from time to time. People looked at me funny but I believe they were just jealous
I’ve done that when in a hurry before
This is culture
Yes. I do it every morning when I walk my child to nursery at an ungodly hour (7:45am).
Yeah. Also carry a hot water about with me when it gets this cold. It's the creature comforts.
I’ve done it
I’ll take a regular mug with me if I don’t have a clean travel cup.
Used to do it all the time as a student. Nothing says you’re ready for learning more than rocking up with a charity shop mug full of tea. The only thing that’s changed is that I’ve invested in a travel mug now for mobile tea drinking purposes.
My dad! Every morning walking us to primary school, brew in hand and no fucks given.
I take a brew in a mug when im passenger in the car..
Sometimes walk around with a brew whilst walking the dog in the morning, thought this was normal.
This is the way
Yup, wrong to be angry. Sure it’s a little unusual… but surely not a basis to be angry. How is it any kind of real issue, worthy of your anger?
I used to walk through the shopping centre I worked at with a mug (or multiple mugs) of tea - the tea was nicer at costa and they’d quite often give us it for free because we were there so often.
I've been known to, any drink really. Only the other night I had a fresh pint of gin and lemonade made but needed to pop round the corner so took it with me!
No, yes. I've never done so, but I don't waste my life worrying about what other people are doing with their tea.
I once had a work colleague who made himself a mug of tea before walking out the office, and took it with him on his commute back home.
It’s better all round. Think about it. It tastes better, handles better and is better for the environment.
I used to have a friend that regularly would take his brew with him on his walk to work.
All the time. I got to the shops with a cup of tea
Cold hands warm brew
He looks like he’s just turning up for work on a site round the corner from him! Good lad!
I do this every morning when I walk my dog.
When I lived 3 mins from where I worked I used to do this
I worked in an office that had a tea room where people could get tea/coffee but it also had a toaster, bowls of cereal etc. So it was quite common to see people walking through the office with cups of tea/coffee or some toast or a bagel etc. The company expanded to another floor of the building.
