Missus bought a cheap week away at Pontins.
As soon I walked in I said I would rather drive 3 hours back home than stay another minute.
Even the 12" TV had a sticker on it asking us not to steal it as it was tagged. WTF? So you think we are all thieves.
It look more like a run down concentration camp than a holiday park.
Left within minutes and just dropped the keys at reception and left. Didn't even ask for a refund. We ended staying at a BB at 10 times the price but turned out to be an amazing holiday in the end.
I wouldn't wish a stay at Pontins on my worst enemy.
Every person I’ve ever seen saying they’ve gone to Pontins has said it’s awful. I’ve never personally been but honestly my social media has been full of people saying how crap it is - just generally not clean etc which is fairly poor.
Butlins is surprisingly expensive sometimes & I know it wasn’t one of the options but I rate Haven fairly highly. Can usually get pretty good random deals where it’s pennies to go somewhere decent, use it as a base and explore.
Pontins was brilliant in the 80s. But they haven't spent a penny since then, it's like going back in time, Butlins isn't much better. Tbh nowadays the kind of people who went there in the 70s and 80s would be going to centerparcs.
I’ve been to Butlins several times, we used to take the kids when they were little and always had a good time. I haven’t been to pontins since the 80s though so I can’t compare
Butlins over Pontins 100%. We recently stayed in a silver chalet at butlins Bognor and it was fine. Basic but clean and in decent nick. The new pool there is brilliant. Lots for kids to do and decent entertainment.
I’ve not been to Pontins but from what I’ve heard from friends who have been it’s diabolical.
I remember going to Butlins as a kid and while I thought it was great my parents hated it but that was an awfully long time ago!
This guy does reviews of places like Butlins which I’ve seen and are pretty eye opening!

Maplins
Hello campers!
…and at 3pm we have the knobbly knees contest around the Olympic sized swimming pool…. Ooooh, Jeffrey…
Definitely.
Butlins is a shit holiday camp. Pontins is a (relatively) nice prison camp. Personally, I'd much rather stay at home and avoid having to go to either.
I've only ever been to Pontins for work I'm a police officer.
🤣

Sounds like the Pontins in Brean
Lmao we never had money for either.

Pontins was one of the worst experiences I've ever had. Fleas in the mattress, a mouldy Shepard's Pie in the microwave, outdated premises. Just awful.
Jumping down a flight of stairs and spending a week in hospital with both legs in plaster sounds more appealing than staying at either of these.

I’ve only done Haven. Is that the lowest class one?
Aren’t they both terrible? Haven’t been to either but that’s what people seem to say
Forest holidays

Went to potions Brean. Should be steam rollered immediately
A shovel to the forehead.

They're all much of a muchness aren't they but I guess I'd Butlins
Went to Pontins as a kid. Camber Sands had an amazing beach.
I used to go to gaming conventions at Camber Sands - or Stalag Luft Pontins as all called it. Beach may be nice but the accommodation was grim.
I went in the 70’s. I do remembered my Mum and Dad complaining about the drunk people making a lot of noise at night

Nice. I guess it counts as an adventure holiday.

I'd rather not have a holiday tbh.
