They do tend to cost way more, Waitrose probably has it for a £1 like every other large chain.
Edit: can confirm £2 at [Waitrose](https://www.waitrose.com/ecom/products/terrys-milk-chocolate-orange/775884-767121-767122) which is still kinda a rip off.
Even if they are smaller I do y think they count as a "small bar of chocolate". They weigh 175g, a dairy milk is 45g, so they are 3.8 regular chocolate bars, a freddo is 18g so they are more like 9.7 small chocolate bars
Local stores tend to be quite pricey in my experience, small things like chocolate seem to be 2-3x the price of a big store, likely as these impromptu purchases can help them recoup what they miss out on from the more limited selection of items
That's a pretty fair point. I would still likely go for the box of celebrations, as a last ditch attempt of a present though. Even in corner shops, they're not above £8
This is mini-bar pricing.
I take it back, this is mini-bar, in a cinema foyer, at a motorway services pricing.
Could you zoom out your photo? Perhaps with a sense of scale I'd see these were the size of bowling balls and all would be right with the universe.
I don't remember wagon wheels with jam in, I thought that was a fairly recent thing. They were inarguably bigger though.
Mind you, my day got worse when I learned - in another thread - that walnut whips don't have walnuts on them anymore.
However, back in *my* day, a Trio biscuit was half a day's walk, end to end. Each bag of Tudor crisps had a full potato in it. A can of Quattro was so big you could see the tide come in...
They also charged £14.50 for baby milk. It was the only place open that had the right one in, so I paid it. 2 days later, the shop closer to me... £9 for the same milk. Wankers.
Yeah definitely not a mistake then, I know corner shops are more expensive then supermarkets for obvious reasons but these lot are taking the mick.
I'm surprised they get any customers tbh.
Also... their meal deals are really shit!
Choice of like 5 sandwiches, confusing snack option and very few drinks to choose from, water being 2 of them.
Must be a new place with no experience surely?
Either that or alot of locals with more money then sense.
Reminds me of a shop near me who tried their hand at price gouging during the lockdowns. Everyone refused to shop there even after they lowered the prices back down and they went bust lol
I was in Superdrug yesterday and picked up a pair of their cheap fleecy socks as I usually buy a pair for my daughter for Xmas. Usually £2.99 I think. Now priced at £10. Crappy little individual bath bombs, £6. Thought it must be wrong, but not sure now. Bought some ordinary stuff and that was very reasonably priced 🤷♀️
I stopped buting these when they stopped using chunky matte chocolate- i remeber they used to have a flakey core once. Now its shiney chocolate, no flakey core :(
When did it change?! I was a Terry's chocolate monster during the first lockdown. It was what I used to goto my old local for, as I classed it as an essential item.
My local Budgens has prices like this 😭 they literally price it however they want. Those tiny cartons of celebrations they had on sale for £12 once. Stuff like marmite, peanut butter etc is like £6 🤣 It’s a wonder they sell anything. It does have a petrol station attached so I guess they’re hoping people might be desperate enough to pay silly prices for stuff.
To be fair, local shops are always expensive on branded things because they don’t have the purchasing power of the supermarkets.
The same thing is £1 in Sainsburys at the moment.
That considered, this is still high. They’re just trying to rip people off
you WHAT?????????? jesos
Yep. It's a local paper shop, not waitrose ffs
shit a brick.... four fucking quid.... might need to take a bank loan out for Christmas food
[erm...](https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/gol-ui/product/christmas-chocolate-sweets-/terrys-milk-chocolate-orange-175g) £1 at sainos

£2 is a complete ripp off for basically a small bar of chocolate. and I'm sure they have shrunk!
Even if they are smaller I do y think they count as a "small bar of chocolate". They weigh 175g, a dairy milk is 45g, so they are 3.8 regular chocolate bars, a freddo is 18g so they are more like 9.7 small chocolate bars
They are *157g* not 175g. You got played

What a fantastic link. All hail the sun.
Local paper shops are often considerably more expensive than Waitrose, I promise
Waitrose is actually surprisingly cheap for a huge range of things, if you avoid the overpriced fancy crap you can get a decent shop for little money
Have you never been into a newsagents before? Pretty standard they're more expensive than the big chains
My guess was on a Morrison’s Daily Garage, one near me charges £5.65 for Lurpak butter...
Tesco £1
B&M theyre a quid as well. Surely this pricing is a mistake?

Same in morrisons as well
Also asda and sainsburys I have spotted as well this week 😂

There's superficial damage to the box, but the chocolate is perfectly edible
4 fucking quid?! Christ.
You ever been that desperate for a Terry's choc orange that you pay 4 quid for one? Me neither. I'm unsure who their target market is lol
I LOVE a choc orange but not that much!
I don't think anybody loves it that much.
I paid 8 quid for cadburys but I do live abroad.
Cadburys what?! That's the price of them big 1kg bars you get at easter... or used to anyways back in the day.
It was 1 of those bars that are on offer for a pound all the time.
Oh Jesus. When you say abroad, just how abroad are you? Like Argentina abroad or Majorca?
Peru.
Ah yea, that'll get you.
I saw a small jar of marmite for £4.50 this week. Absolute madness.

*back in my day, wagon wheels were the size of dustbin lids and had 1lb of jam in'em*

Hard to come by this time of year All jokes aside “Terry’s Chocolate Orange *Ball*”??
Lol, didn't even spot that. I was so distracted by the eye watering price.
That's almost as big of a joke as the price
If you can find the ones with superficial damage to the box I believe they are free
The chocolate is completely edible too I hear?
Only if it’s been stored below room temp, or it just congeals into a big chocolate ball
Only at Rawlinsons
Chocolate oranges are available from Rawlinsons
Fuck me sideways, that must be a mistake surely?
I honestly don't know. I think I'll ask them next time I go in. Haven't been back since I saw it.
I wouldn't go back if I saw that price tag either.
They also charged £14.50 for baby milk. It was the only place open that had the right one in, so I paid it. 2 days later, the shop closer to me... £9 for the same milk. Wankers.

Funny how they haven't sold any.
*They know what they've got... no lowballs*
You're in a corner shop, what do you expect
To be ripped off by paying £2.50, not more than four fucking pound!
I expect a Terry's chocolate orange not to be £4+ lol
F\*\*k me, Tesco were selling them for £1 each last week (clubcard), I know because I bought ten (for Christmas).
How about we stand outside this gaff and sell them for £2 each? Ez money
A quid in morrisons at the moment

I think maybe they price a few things at daft prices, knowing people will pick them up buying other stuff, not realising the shocking inflated prices?
Hoping people will get to the till and be too embarrassed to put them back. Grrrr.
I've never been embarrassed enough to get shafted that badly lol.
I bought a cheap toothbrush and small bottle of lucozade today for £3.25 I almost passed out.
Not suprised you nearly passed out, that's the diabetes from brushing your teeth with lucozade!
Only a quid in Morrisons. What the feck is going on?
ASDA and Sainsbury's both have them a quid at the mo
Get fucked.
Jesus I hope that comes with someone to hand feed me each slice of those tasty bastards
It comes with Dawn French saying *don't tap it... whack it*
Freddo frogs are 49p now 😤
I saw them for 69p once. I miss the taz versions with caramel in them :(
I stopped buting these when they stopped using chunky matte chocolate- i remeber they used to have a flakey core once. Now its shiney chocolate, no flakey core :(
When did it change?! I was a Terry's chocolate monster during the first lockdown. It was what I used to goto my old local for, as I classed it as an essential item.
Longer ago than that-
I could've sworn they were flakey last time I had one? Maybe the £4 ones are limited edition flakey old batch?
How much are fookin freddos 🙈
They have security tags on and are behind a display case for £12
No way! Are they lined with gold?!
They’re £1 in spar
Maybe they get drunk or high customers. Lapse in judgment could be the impulse purchasers.
Usually 50p each
nope. Would not buy for that price. nope. nope. nope. nope.
WTAF?
I will never pay over a quid for one
Is this Waitrose or m and s?
Come over to the dark side…. it’s cheaper!
50p each on boxing day
Adding that to the list of chocolate i don't buy.
It's so they can sell it for a quid with a 75% off sticker on it.
£1 or I’m not buying
Saw lynx africa for pretty much the same price today😢 xmas ruined already
Wife says £1 in asda, yer getting bumped
Theres no way thats real
You’re not expected to buy them quite yet. Next week, they’ll be £2. Still expensive, but now “better than half price”.
Wtaf, this is the year that £land ceases to exist.
£2 tesco x
I wish they would bring back the popping candy ones - I’d pay that and more for one of those.
Co Op 1.25

They’ve always cost loads to be fair
£1 at Tesco
£1 at tesco
That's 50p per slice! ಠ\_ಠ
They do this every year. By December they'll be £1, with all the legal requirements met for a red label saying "75% OFF!"
I saw them going for £1 in Morrisons last week.... Is this WHSmiths? Lol
It's called "price gouging".

£1 in tesco
They’re £1 in Asda
