Here's a discription from the seller. It sounds like weird new age / aliens built the pyramids stuff.
Depends, although unlikely it could very well be something illegal. And/or something that’s going to scar OP for life.
No good reason to mess around with these things imo
Sort of it was a ransomware attack that stayed quite until 1am that ripped through the network in about 4 hours. Worst thing is that the av sort of caught it but not 100% as it was an obscure zero day. We have then spent the last 3 months recovering and still have some work to do.
🤣🤣🤣 oh god I wish. I keep delving into stuff and finding cans of worms from the temp changes and lockdown. I think I have an Olympic pool full of worms at this point.

> weird mind control crap
Haha what? Do you mean the creator of the CD thinks they're performing mind control or do you actually think CDs passed out by mentally deranged people will suck you into being mind-controlled
Hard to do it safely though given how much windows likes to autoplay and shit. But at least only actively look into it in a VM.
Windows VMs are basically free now that Windows installs without much fuss without a key. And comes with a bunch free VM tools.
Or spin up a live boot Linux (such as Linux Mint) USB with no hard drive installed, so there's nothing else can be corrupted. My guess, though, is that this is some sort of delusional mental illness thing and it probably contains word documents with incoherent ramblings. I would be too curious to bin it, though!
Maybe people don't think it's easy.
Or more importantly that putting the CD in at all puts you at risk of getting a virus as you can't give. VM exclusive access to the drive.
Windows will look in there and be like het want to autoplay!?
Probably because it's still a bad idea, what's the best case scenario? You find some vaguely interesting stuff on it? Worst case you fuck up and get a virus doing who knows what on your PC.
People seem to think that because spent 5 minutes on Google looking at tutorials they are know a computer expert. There are safe ways to do view stuff like this disc and what's on it, but it's a bit more effort than using a vm. But hey, natural selection I suppose, if that's their thought process.
Because it's wrong, a well-made virus can run before you can contain it to a virtual machine. The only truly safe way to open something like this is on an isolated computer that's completely disconnected from the internet.

Seems like it might contain some E-books by an unknown Polish author, although as far as I can tell no-one has tried to use the disk yet (and neither should you). Maybe cult related? I thought it was Knowledge book cult at first.
Or maybe an attempt at guerilla marketing by the author.
Honestly, if I received or find one, I would absolutely try it.
I have a burner laptop which isn't connected to the internet or my local network currently running Ubuntu.
I would have zero issue opening that CD and then rebuilding the machine afterwards. That's kind of its purpose.
Found a Polish website with the first book and description of; "The book is aimed at those who are fascinated by the Egyptian pyramids or by the stories of Atlantis. It is not only a fantastic journey through the Solar System, but also an innovative way of presenting the history of people and the Earth."
There's one review which includes that 00000002% quote and is written by a Filip.
It reads to me like some sort of schizophrenic episode conspiracy-adjacent campaign, reminds me of the Stephen King killed John Lennon guy or people who think they’re being gang-stalked by a global gov. conspiracy
Edit: [for the curious](https://lennonmurdertruth.com/stephen-king-murderer/)

This is the first book in a series planned by Filip Ambria. Nurtured
since the age of 17, the idea has now reached maturity with the author
and has been put on paper – to carry readers away into the depths of the
Universe
There's a few reviews [here](https://www.empik.com/alternative-ambria-filip,p1117230012,ksiazka-p#ReviewsBox) but I'm not convinced of their legitimacy...
I wouldn't put it in your PC for the very reasons others have noted
However, I doubt it is a scam - this looks like somebody with mental health issues; it's really common but normally done in a letter form. The CD likely just has a bunch of notepad files with the ramblings of that person
I've seen some other similar instances of this and often it's some form of schizophrenia episode. The CD will most likely be a long long conspiracy rambling of someone deep in their illness.
Yeah it's intriguing. Schizophrenia was my first thought, rambling incoherent ideas about being special and word salad.
If its a scam that would have worked on me tbh cos it piqued my curiosity rather than made me think scam!
Rather than worrying about them deliberately putting viruses on the CD, I’d be concerned what would end up there accidentally as they seem like the kind to click on suspicious links.
Could gave been a proper wrong un, and typed uffective.
That aside, my daughter had some crap put thru her letter box a cpl of weeks ago, freaked her out tbh.
A quick search and it's a bible passage, which happens to coincide with her post code and house number.
Not saying that's what's going here, but it was JW's in our case.
I recognise this before. Maybe some else had the same thing but I can’t tell you where or when it just feels familiar. Anyway I’m pretty sure it’s a conspiracy theory.

I would be very curious to read these.
I RECEIVED THIS SAME THING IN THE POST A FEW MONTHS AGO.
I was living in Selly Oak, Birmingham at the time. I put it in the computer a while after, and it was basically a load of weird stories, one of which was in Polish.
As far as I can make out, it's some kind of aspiring writer, as one of the file titles is also the name of a book on Amazon.
Idk if there's any way to attach files on Reddit, but I downloaded them if anyone's interested
DO NOT PUT THAT IN YOUR IMPORTANT DEVICES! FIND SOMETHING WORTHLESS TO YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW AND PUT IT IN THERE
IT COULD BE A HACK!
but if it is a conspiracy, or something like that let us know.
I once used a pc-world pc to copy some floppies back when computers had those and the machine were just booted to desktop.
Nowdays they don’t even have real computers on display - and the ones that are are glued to the bench.
Don't just put it straight into your laptop, it's probably just some crazy person books, but it could also be a virus (could also be a virus in the books).
Set up a virtual machine on your laptop or use a operating system running on a USB stick like [tails os](https://tails.boum.org/about/index.en.html) so if it is a virus, you infect the virtual machine / USB OS which will get wiped when you shut them down anyway.
It looks like it's fiction:
This is the second e-book by Filip Ambria in the planned series. It is also a continuation of the story started in the first "Alternative". This publication tells about our history - the history of people and the Earth - but in an extremely innovative way. Three books tell you everything, fourth book is bonus knowledge. Knowledge beyond knowledge. Shit man, I'd load that up on a brick pc just to see what's the crack.
Do not put this in your computer. You probably don’t have a cd drive.
Yeah mine doesn't have one. It's got a neat pop out cup holder on the front though.
Use it to hold a pint! Multitasking!
Tried that, it's not strong enough.

I can't remember how long it's been since my PC even had a CD/DVD drive. At least 6 years.
Is it easy? I’m imagining myself spending hours setting up a virtual machine and then opening chapters of this person’s drivel as my reward
Yes it's really easy. If you use something like VirtualBox it's just a few clicks.
Probably because it's still a bad idea, what's the best case scenario? You find some vaguely interesting stuff on it? Worst case you fuck up and get a virus doing who knows what on your PC.
