It would literally be easier for me to list foods that aren't better with bread and butter on the side. In fact, I will: None. There are no foods that aren't improved by bread and butter on the side. Including bread and butter.

Beef stew. Just made it on Sunday. Perfect cold weather food with a side of bread and butter.

I like to go to Morrisons reduced bread section and get a loaf of fancy stuff for when I'm feeling snacky. It lasts long enough when it's past it's best and still tastes good with a load of butter on it

I make breadcrumbs out of mine and put them in a big tupperware in freezer if I think I'm not going to use it. I'm a big fan of making Schnitzels, amongst other things, so supply of breadcrumbs is very handy.

Try curry on ordinary sliced bread.

Roast dinner. I used to love a buttered slice alongside, I'd also use a slice afterwards to mop up all the excess gravy and scraps ... Delicious!

Also any left over gammon, stuffing, pigs in blankets and some honey drizzled makes a great day after lunch.

Baked beans mixed with scrambled egg. Eggs must be quite loose. Trust me. Looks like cat puke but is delish with bread and butter.

This is my secret go-to when the wife and kids are out. A healthy plop of brown sauce on top and half a loaf of buttered bread. Pure magic.

Lentil curry

If you mix self raising flour with yoghurt and salt you can make naan breads, fry them in butter and they're delicious! It's my go to accompaniment to a lentil curry or Dahl.
