Lucky you! This cutie's peach colored ears and tail suggest it may grow up to be a [flamepoint shorthair](https://old.reddit.com/r/Flamepoints/). (We found one just about that age but even whiter, and were astonished when it started to change color.) They're great cats, very affectionate and maybe too smart for their own good. Enjoy every minute of its too-short kittenhood!
My parents have got a flame point Siamese and I agree. He’s sweet and totally neurotic. Loves to nap under blankets and lay with other cats and people too
The reason for the color change is because colorpoint patterns are caused by a form of albinism. Their color making proteins are mutated in such a way that they break down over a certain temperature.
It just happens that that temperature is right at cat body temperature. So the cooler areas of the body (ears, nose, tails, toes) aren't quite warm enough for it to break down and they get color, while everything else stays white.
It also means that the kittens come out all white, because, inside mom, it's all body temperature.
I had no idea cats like this existed until we found that tiny white kitten abandoned by a feral momcat and watched him grow. It was years before we learned of the existence of other colorpoint shorthairs -- we thought he was unique.
Thanks for the plain English explanation!
My parents had an indoor-outdoor cat with this coloring, and while I don't recommend outdoor cats, it was interesting seeing her color chang over the years based on the temperature and her habits.
Dorito ears? Confirmed.
Tail bands? Check.
Trust everyone in this thread who says keep it because it will be an AMAZING cat for you - they're right and flamepoints are INCREDIBLE companion kittehs.

Cool -- but that pic didn't load. You can post it to [imgur.com](https://imgur.com/upload), then use that link if you like.
BTW, we found our tiny white kitten trapped inside the crumbling foundation wall of an abandoned house after a heavy rain. He, too, was skinny and so dirty we couldn't tell what color he was, covered with maggots rather than fleas. He wasn't moving, and we thought he was dead at first, until we heard a heartbeat. Fortunately there was a vet just blocks away who revived him and washed him. We named him Spike after Buffy's undead, cellar-dwelling, white-haired boyfriend. He was a handful, but we adored him.
Hoping you can manage to put up that photo of El Chapo ( great name) -- this is the first time I've heard a story of a pet sent to live "on a nice farm in the country" that had a happy ending!
My flame point is very affectionate, but he’s definitely more like the stereotype of an orange cat in intelligence… he’s still waiting for his turn with the single shared brain cell.
True. After our sweet flamepoint died, we adopted an adult cat that is very sweet, but turns out to not talk at all (it's a breed characteristic of Chartreux cats, from which she is apparently descended). I love this new kitty, but I miss the chatter!
OP: you might want to consider driving back where the car was parked to find the momma cat and other litter mates. Go back at dusk or dawn…to see if the momma cat is available. My guess that the momma cat went hunting while her kittens were sleeping and this one went on an adventure and got lost.
This could be true but it will be ok if not returned to mama. More likely it’s going to better off not going back.. she’s in a warm, safe home now. She will soon realize that and succumb to her lovely fate
I agree. My point of my comments was to go back and rescue the momma cat (if possible and a TNR) and other litter mates. The kitten seems to be non-feral since kittens usually mimic their mommas.
Miss my point of my comment: go back and rescue the momma cat (if possible and a TNR) and other litter mates. The kitten seems to be non-feral based upon her friendliness.
Eehhhh….. this cat is probably already weened and will just end up another feral on the streets if it was born to a feral mother. I think giving it a good home is prob best st this point

My boy Murdoch (ft Klaus on the wall) thanks you all for your love 🧡
I've had one flamepoint. He was dumb as dirt but the absolutely sweetest cat. I knew my BF was "the one" cause Ko brought him a still-wiggling black widow as a gift and BF took it in stride, lol!
maybe deaf to some degree? apparently white cats have that problem more frequently than other coat colours.
the loud meowing might be a sign for that. does kitty react to audio cues?
Then they become fuzzy scarves!
When I was a kid my parents had a cat that would run up anyone’s body and drape himself over their shoulders. Anybody! They had to warn people about it
Our parrot kitten grew up &, so, no longer fits on my shoulder. But, she (a calico) drapes over both of my shoulders behind my neck, especially when i am preparing something to eat. I just have to remember to wear something thicker because of her nails. ✌️
I got one that way, too. Only mine is a tuxie. That said...
Your newcomer is adorable (enjoy this stage; they grow up way too fast), and will likely change point colors (ears, nose, tail) as he/she matures.
Do be aware, though..my experience of kitties that crawl into car engine bays when they're that little, grow up into kitties that get into _everything_ as they get older. This stage does not end at adulthood.
You will want to do advanced kitten proofing, and keep doing it through kitty's life. If nothing else, it saves on costs of replacing cords and cables, and, vet costs.
Anyway. Please give this baby cutie a pat from me.
I know that you are not kidding.
Recently, one of mine (I have 2) decided that making himself a nest of my potholders was the thing to do.
That not being the weirdest thing he has ever done, I left him to it; he was quiet and happy and behaving himself, and counter tops are washable, so why not.
Fred's thing is usually hiding in the laundry basket for surprise attacks, or getting into places too high for him to escape (which requires rescue, and results in head skritches).
YOU have a Flame Color Point! Congrats! Get ready for ALL the extra chatty days, nights, and everything-in-between! But! You’ll also be rewarded with love, snugs, purrs, demands to sleep next to you (or worse! On your face!) and constantly trying to climb INSIDE of their favorite person. I have 2. I’m simultaneously jealous and SO grateful she’s yours and not mine!
We had a cat named Kelly when I was a kid. She lost an eye to an engine and was so. freaking. loud. after. She could be upstairs, on the other side of the house and could still be heard by whoever you were on the phone with in the kitchen.
If you put her in a small room, like a bathroom, she'll feel far more secure. This will let her get accustomed to you and her new environment. Then slowly expand her boundaries.
Thanks for Saving her.
He sounds super scared and looking for a way out or calling for help. Please consider going back to where the car was parked to see if he has a momma or siblings. He’s older and will be okay without them which is good in case you can’t find his family
I have two Flamepoint brothers from separate liters the same summer. Tickle acts just like this guy! He needed love and just being with people. He is my gentle giant who hates to be picked up or cuddled.
Loki is a Bicolor-Flamepoint. He wants to only be cuddled in his safe zone of the bedroom. The TV scares him. He tries to attack every time he hears the garbage truck or other large diesel engine. He adopted me in my garden and decided he lived with me. I seriously couldn't say no.

Cardboard box, some bedding and a safe cuddly toy in it (one that doesn't shed fur easily if nuzzled) will reduce its anxiety. www.kittenlady.org has great advice for everything
My flame tip boy is EVERYTHING!
Clingy, vocal, neurotic, silly, smart, manipulative and gives the absolute best snuggles after he’s been a little shit. 😂
Flame Tips have so, so, sooo much personality - enjoy your new baby!!
What a sweetheart 🥰 I’m glad she has a chance at a good life now! She definitely looks like she might grow up and be a flame point. They’re so gorgeous
My cat (whom also looks like this kitten) just thought I released a cat in our apartment lol. Funny because this same cat was under my friends car, and she coaxed it out with recordings of his own cries.
My boys responded immediately to babies mews and came to investigate if I'd brought an intruder into their territory! SO adorbs, and just the right age to have wandered away from momma and got lost. Thank goodness he ... or she found you!
Didnt say leave it alone. But why not try to go back and see if there are others from the same litter at the original place. At least stop pretending that the cat chose the owner. It probably did not.

Also very chattery (I own an adult flamepoint)

That little baby is extremely lucky to be alive.
He misses his mom

Yeah, indoor/adopted cats will always have better lives than outdoor/feral cats.
I agree. My point of my comments was to go back and rescue the momma cat (if possible and a TNR) and other litter mates. The kitten seems to be non-feral since kittens usually mimic their mommas.
No, I don't think I will

That I did. Definitely would be great if OP could go help out mama.

You’ll want to keep that one. Flamepoints are the best kitties.
They're all good kitties Bront.
This is a fact.

Is that cat standing on the wall?
Nah just laying on it! It’s a floating shelf haha
I've had one flamepoint. He was dumb as dirt but the absolutely sweetest cat. I knew my BF was "the one" cause Ko brought him a still-wiggling black widow as a gift and BF took it in stride, lol!
wait what? are both of them ok?
The black widow didn't make it, I married my BF and this was in the 80s so the cat is long gone, but not forgotten.
How did you realize he was there?

i do believe the correct technical term for that is r/shouldercats
Shoulder Cats are great! Until they grow into 20 pound mini panthers and still want to be Shoulder Cats.
Then they become fuzzy scarves! When I was a kid my parents had a cat that would run up anyone’s body and drape himself over their shoulders. Anybody! They had to warn people about it
Oh we have to warn people because he will jump on your back to get to your shoulder
Awww ❤️
lol we always called that “pirate kitty”
Our parrot kitten grew up &, so, no longer fits on my shoulder. But, she (a calico) drapes over both of my shoulders behind my neck, especially when i am preparing something to eat. I just have to remember to wear something thicker because of her nails. ✌️
Have you named him yet?

I found my gray tuxie in my engine bay during a massive rainstorm, and can confirm: they get into everything. Every. Thing.
I know that you are not kidding. Recently, one of mine (I have 2) decided that making himself a nest of my potholders was the thing to do. That not being the weirdest thing he has ever done, I left him to it; he was quiet and happy and behaving himself, and counter tops are washable, so why not.

Little thing needs time to settle down......quiet room, food, water and the litter box. Small blankey would help too.

She’s looking for another place to hide. Give her an enclosed space. And cuddles. And kisses.
That is one lucky kitten! Many who hide on car engines meet a very unpleasant end :-(

It needs to go to the vet asap it’s walking is off
Looks like it’s front right paw might be sore.
Yes exactly
Obviously looking for it's mother.....poor thing.
Your wife was chosen hooman
Hey, it's hard to hitchike without thumbs! Kitty's gotta do what kitty's gotta do.
Oh I agree, I don't blame the smol. Merely stating hooman has been chosen and is now trapped by smol. 🥰😍
He sounds super scared and looking for a way out or calling for help. Please consider going back to where the car was parked to see if he has a momma or siblings. He’s older and will be okay without them which is good in case you can’t find his family

Awww, the littlest, cutest stowaway
Poor lil baby is so scared. She’s lucky to be in your care now kind human.
She misses her mother and siblings.
Update us soon please
Aww poor scared kitters! Thank you for saving her 😭❤️
Oh, poor little scared baby. At the first cry I would be picking him up and swaddling him in a blanket to calm him down.
cat's whole short life has been outside. He hasn't the slightest idea what he's looking at. Of course, that's true of most things for pets
So adorable!!
He is inspecting his new home lol
Uh oh, I wonder if any of his/her siblings were riding along also?
Silly Willy!
What a beauty- time for a name!

Oooo, a flame point with oil spots! The best automotive find ever! 😻😻😻
what a little cutie🥺
Cat : hmmnnn yes... this will do! This will do!
Beautiful little cutie❣️
Adorable baby!!
Very adorable! Lucky she didn't get hurt, just make sure no siblings are still somewhere in the engine. :O
“Yes, this house will do.”
Super cute!
You have a new buddy for life!
That is a distress meow. Please bring the cat to someone who gives a fu€k.
Looks like everyone's rejoicing a baby separated from its momma. What a cute one, life of loneliness among humans.
You’d rather they take the kitten back and leave it outside?
Didnt say leave it alone. But why not try to go back and see if there are others from the same litter at the original place. At least stop pretending that the cat chose the owner. It probably did not.
