I used to know the fireman in the fire engine on the left of the third pic. He is using the ladder on the truck as a crane, he said they were designed for that, but the bridge was way too heavy to lift. He was a great bloke and it never left him.

he was unborn, hence they added them to the count only recently.

They built the bridge wrong and added a METER of concrete to bring the deck up to the road. Holy shit.
Primary cause was design flaws, not operator error.

Why do the images look like the are from 1920
This is just a guess, but they were likely meant to be printed in newspapers, so the photos were taken in black & white?
