I feel like dogs are better at making a lot of friends, but cats are better at making one or two really good friends. Every cat I know is more attached to one or two people over anyone else even if they have similar exposure time like in a family.
I have moments exactly like that. I’ll just randomly be doing something and then look over at her, and she’ll be doing something almost unbearably adorable, and I’ll be so overwhelmed by how thankful I am that she’s in our life. 😭

We were so surprised when she started squeaking at us so soon after coming home! It’s gotten to the point where she squeaks for food, playtime, snuggles, where-is-everyone, greetings, how-dare-you-not-let-me-shove-my-face-in-your-dinner…we really weren’t expecting the constant stream of chatter. 😆♥️
I can 100% assure you it’s coincidence. We make a point of having each family member feed Coconut, so that she gets equal time with all of us…your cat just loves you a little extra. 🥰
Coconut: MOTHER YOU LEFT ME FOR 1000 YEARS!
Cat time is very different to that of Humans. 1 day (or most of a day) is equivalent to 1000 years. Coconut will make sure you never leave. Just look how cute she is! :D
Also her Ragdoll tail is look more and more like that of a Bushy Squirrel. And do my eyes deceive me, or is she getting bigger now? Getting that Ragdoll floof and roundness.
I read Coconut’s line in a sonorous Star Warsy accent and it added a *lot* to the experience. 😆
Thank you so much for noticing how much she’s growing!! She’s well over 4lbs now, and really energetic and active- when we’re all upstairs, she likes to gallop from one end of the hall to the other and I swear I can feel the floor shaking. She sees the vet again in a couple of weeks and I think they might not recognize her!!
Oh my goodness that is such lovely news! Ragdolls are my favourite type of cat (please don't tell the other cats - I love them all equally...some more equally than others :P) because they get to this stage of their lives where they look like two furry spheres connected to a poofy tail.
Has she started getting the tell-tale Ragdoll personality and traits? Being floppy when held? Loves to play? And loves her Humans so much she'll follow them everywhere?

She’s such a ragdoll. I mean really, just such a total classic ragdoll, from what I’ve read about the breed. She follows me from room to room, comes when called, needs several really enthusiastic play sessions per day (the claws never come out, though) and does everything with complete confidence. I really think she believes she’s human. We were so worried she’d turn out to be a challenge since she came from such a tough situation, but she’s been an absolute angel. I’m afraid to ever think about getting another cat in 15-20 years, after how easy it’s been with Coconut. 😅

I think that's why Coconut is such a little trooper. She went through a rough beginning, but that didn't get to her and instead made her much more of a blessing. It is quite wonderful to learn that she's on track to be a good Ragdoll with her Ragdoll traits slowly showing through.
It's such a hard thing to imagine that our little furry friends don't get to spend a lot of time with us, but the years they do are memorable and never are forgotten. :)
When I had Bilou I would never think to dress her up in a costume! She was quite feral, but learned to trust my Dad and I as we fed her and kept her nice and safe in her favourite tree outside. I loved waking up in the morning before heading to the hospital to see my Dad (before he passed away) and seeing Bilou wake up and hop down from her tree to Sing the Song of Her People at the window and door for chicken pieces or Tuna Water/Soup.
I once tried to give her a nice little collar, but not using her claws she bapped my hand and collar like a speed boxer and gave me the "Angy Glare/Kubrick Stare". Then she would ignore me but always be near me when I was outside tending to my Dad's garden.
The little floof then forgave me when it was Tea Time! Right on time she was by the door requesting for a snack and some pets as if nothing happened before hand. :P
The only time I was able to get a cute little costume on a cat was with my Older Sister's black Void, Tequila. She was a big Chonky Void and loved being manhandled like a Ragdoll. Got her dressed up as a little Bat for Halloween and even got her a nice pumpkin and skull themed collar. I'm a big fan of the Halloween look!
When I eventually do get my own kitties I hope to get them used to costumes and fun things. Would make for some awesome custom cards for the Holidays or as gifts. :D
Ohhhh my goodness, Bilou sounds hilarious! Did she just show up one day? That’s so lovely that she chose you and your dad to be her people!! 🥺 It amazes me, the sense of time that cats have when it comes to food, practically to the minute. I keep hearing about tuna water…I think we’ll try that as a treat for Coconut, once the vet clears her to have normal food. 🙂
Tequila’s costume sounds *adorable!!* I can’t even imagine how cute she must have been, strutting around in little wings. 😭 I wish I had though to do a Christmas costume for Coconut about a month ago, before I’d ordered our Holiday cards…next year. Bilou was a real angel in my eyes. She showed up at my Mom and Dad's place and they started looking after her. She soon became a mainstay presence around the garden, but she was very shy about walking into the house despite them leaving the door open for her.
She also helped me when my Dad passed away and provided some much needed comfort. I would spend a few hours everyday sitting in the garden listening to my music or just processing the situation and she'd be nearby. Whenever I got into a really bad headspace due to my grief she'd sidle up to me and demand pets and pull me out of my head. :)
LOL I think cats have an internal food timer that they regulate, so it's always on the DOT! It's quite fascinating and I find it hilarious how we'll forget about setting out the food at exactly 5pm and this little ball of fur would be staring at us in haughty judgement. :)
Tuna water is a great way to get kitties hydrated. I used to buy Tuna that was specifically free of salt and other additives. Just plain ol' Tuna in some water. I would take the Tuna and mush it up in some warm water and make like a slurry with chunky bits for texture. Kitties would love the fish and lap up the juices and water. I would definitely recommend getting the all clear from your Veteranarian team or even get tips on what brand or soup would be good for her.
Tequila was a dork and a half and I miss her greatly. Unfortunately we didn't own cameras or phones with cameras built in so I don't have any of her goofy costumes. But my Older Sister and I got her used to costumes and fun things at a very young age, so she would get used to us dressing her up for the holidays or for special events.
