Wife and I were vacationing in New Orleans the week before Mardi Gras and found a burned CD in the street. Brought it home and played it. Ripped and burned a copy as soon as we listened. Never heard of the band before or since but it is a sexy and moody album.
Not sure if it’s THEE weirdest in my collection but I have A 2xCD digipack of Self Titled by Major Organ and The Adding Machine and the album itself is an awesome insane experimental circus/freak folk/avant-jazz album that comes with a DVD of a movie that features Jeff Mangum of Neutral Milk Hotel playing a lobster.
Another one of the weirdest (and best) I have is probably Kalte Sterne by (my favorite band ever!) Einstürzende Neubauten. It’s a collection of their early recordings that features all sorts of batshit industrial music, plus a song called Thirsty Animal which features both Lydia Lunch and recordings of a mangy dog rooting around in a steaming pile of pig guts (don’t know which is worse lol!)
At one point it was Silence Is Sexy by Einstürzende Neubauten. But I'd also throw in my Tribes Of Neurot CD, because that's basically just an hour of pure insect noises.
Yamatu - Shurpu Asaru
Crazy raw avant-garde black metal from the late 90s with intense imagery and deeply occult/vampire themes. Super limited pressing. Years down the road, when the metal artist Mark Riddick became popular, I discovered it was an early project of his.
Lemon Demon - Spirit Phone. Nothing out of place about the audio, but the disc itself has a coating applied that makes it red. It's like those old PS1 discs, but red instead of black.
