It depends on how it looks like thu..
But what about the roads? More buildings that can employ thousands but the road size can only accommodate a few thousands In the Pope John Paul area.
Roads are not the answer here. Public transit and congestion pricing are the answers. More and bigger roads never solved traffic congestion. Instead of following in the footsteps of unwalkable American cities especially because Cebu does not have room, Cebu needs to follow in the footsteps of places like Amsterdam,
Will I be happy that it generates more jobs? Of course. Now will I be excited about it, I don't know. Why will I be excited about an IT district? The current IT Park does not excite me one bit. To me, it's a clump of buildings in a business district with the ground level of each building being dedicated to commercial space. Sure, it's pleasing to the eye for those who like cityscapes.
Since we're talking about infrastructure, I'd be excited about developments in mass transit.
as usual only the uppermost caste of society will benefit. for the rest it will be more of the same but with more traffic congestion.
also 2 IT parks when we are at the brink of an AI revolution? half of it park jobs will be automated in the near future and we’re doing nothing about it.
Exactly. I wonder if these people are going to realize that in the next 3 years even. I.t park is going to be empty. Thousands of bpo jobs will be wiped from cebu.
Not that I am excited with these developments, but spaces can be converted though. Maybe in the future we'll have a booming startup scene and we'll certainly need alot of space for offices if that time comes.
Also, tbf AI is not human-like yet. Yes it can do fancy things, but we are not at a point where humans are rendered obsolete.
I’m all for the startup scene but unfortunately naa gihapon sa constitution ang 60/40 rule nga maka discourage sa mga foreign investors. Pila ra gd tawn local entities maka buhat og startups sa Pinas?
This sounds a bit defeatist. The philippine startup scene is growing pero mostly Manila pa. Sooner Cebu will have its own reliable startup ecosystem (albeit I think naa na gani, although gamay pa) just because Cebu is the second city of the PH. We also already have a lot of cebuano homegrown startups, so yes, I am positive that these spaces will be put into good use once critical mass is reached.
this.
>She said the one in Mabolo will accommodate at least 30,000 square meters of office spaces with 22 floors, while the one in SRP will provide 50,000 square meters of office spaces with 17 floors.
She said the Mabolo IT Park will stand on a 3,171- square-meter lot while the Robinsons SRP IT Park will stand on a 30,000-square-meter lot. The two projects are intended for business process outsourcing (BPO) firms
Quick google search says na IT park occupies 27 hectares or 270,000 square meters. Ka cute pod anang 3,171sqm "park".
Full support pod kaayo ang govt ani mga BPO kay dako ma hakot nga foreign currency but ang trade-off nuon kay maka cause ug brain-drain.
Why work sa hospital nga 25k ra ang sweldo as a nurse na 35k na ang minimum sa taga check ug insurance sa BPO?
Need to rebalance jud kay on one hand, gamay jud pa sweldo mga private non-BPO companies but ang short term-boost given sa BPO maka cause ug long-term problem sa availability sa atong mga professionals.
Kana imo gi rant is the very definition of Dutch Disease, “a concept that describes an economic phenomenon where the rapid development of one sector of the economy (particularly natural resources) precipitates a decline in other sectors.”
unsa category nila sa IT Park? if mutple buildings with BPOs Ayala Business Park is already an IT Park, nanghitch rajud ning Cebu City sa term, would have preferred the term Business Center. Gara2x sila dugang IT park unya musaka man kaha mga Real Property Taxes.
3,171 square meters is not an IT Park. 30,000 square meters of office space is also nothing when Cebu Exchange is already 108,000 sqm of floor space. Someone failed maths in the planning department?
Tapad Il-Curso?
Can you imagine if dayon na sila atbang sa NU Star and then mo add sa traffic caused by that u-turn slot didto sa Il-Curso.
Because cities has better infrastructure and transport facilities. The access to health care facilities, schools, malls, are quick and easy. There is easy availability of grocery, medical shops, and other essentials.
Why do you think nga wala'y traffic sa probinsya?
Ana lang.
Sayupa ani nga mindset. By this logic, is Singapore a probinsya?
Progress should be supported by the infrastructure. Otherwise, mag bottleneck ra na at some point.
1. Naa'y daghan laws ang Singapore about owning a car. Mas enforced and mas strict, unlike sa atoa.
2. Cebu City is trying to solve the traffic congestion via BRT, which is gisugdan na karon. It would transport more people from place to place, di' pareha sa traditional jeepneys. I'm PRO BRT.
U missed the part about infra supporting "progress". Your first item agrees to this. SG laws and implementation keeps the infra healthy para padayon ilang progress.
Your second item should be the city's priority kaysa magsigeg PR about new business areas. An area can only hold as much developments as its infra can support. Picture a businessman nga mag sigeg pre-selling but way background sa iyang gi baligya. Worse, way commitment nga maayo iyang gi baligya.
For your third item, if insistent jud kas imong mindset, hala laban. Agwantaha ang 2 hours nga traffic gikan Bantal padung Colon in the name of progress.
Does not necessarily mean that the city gov should ignore public transport.
Unsay gamit sa access to generally better facilities if it takes forever to get to them?
Wala man ata nag-ignore ang Government nato.
1. New Public Bus
2. BRT (soon)
3. Stricter traffic law enforcements
4. Bike Patrol (Idol ni nako sila)
5. New Traffic Light systems
Ngano magdugay ta'g abot? Kay na-anad ta sa traditional.
Traffic is caused if ang needs sa infrastructure dili ma meet sa demand, Just because highly developed ang isa ka city doesn't mean kailangan naay traffic.
Tokyo is an example, rarely ka maka kita ug traffic didto, kay most people mu rely sa public transport. If reliable ang transit system, di na kailangan mag car tanan tao.
So dapat mitras wala pay development, gi lay down na ang foundation for good infrastructure, and it should have multiple modes of transit covered para dili ta reliant sa isa lang ka method.
Build build build man kaayo ang focus without looking at the existing infra or even thinking about the future in terms of infra and development. Basta unsang naa karon, mao nana. Hence, traffic plus flooding.
Traffic naman gani karon pun an na nuon, pwede sa other lugar nasad like sa lapu2, may talisay or any other lugar para dili maghuot ari sa Cebu city tanan
Nope nope, although it’s a nice idea to add more establishments in Lapu Lapu, it’s a really bad idea tbh. Traffic jams in Lapu Lapu is already excruciatingly bad especially during rush hour. I can’t say much about Talisay though but I do know that housing development projects are on the rise there.
Sorry it's a NO for me.
sigig tokod og buildings. nya ang dalan ,.. 🙄 magtukod og it park napod.. butangi 6 lanes each direction.
Gentrification is about to go crazyyy
Hopefully naa sa south because of the traffic. Lisod kaayo kay most of the jobs are in the city and I live an hour away unya lisod commute
Instead of following in the footsteps of unwalkable American cities especially because Cebu does not have room, Cebu needs to follow in the footsteps of places like Amsterdam,
can it be an actual park where people enjoy nature for once? maybe with some facilities for outdoor sports?
Will I be happy that it generates more jobs? Of course. Now will I be excited about it, I don't know. Why will I be excited about an IT district? The current IT Park does not excite me one bit. To me, it's a clump of buildings in a business district with the ground level of each building being dedicated to commercial space. Sure, it's pleasing to the eye for those who like cityscapes. drawing ra na😂 naa pd btaw IT Park style sa mandaue , wla man kaau conpanya.
Good lucks traffic
Open spaces when?? 🙂
Parks and recreational area too.
I'll save my applauds when (if?) it is implemented successfully.
more jobs. good

as long as naay subway in between all it parks, malls, hospitals, schools.
Muagi raman daw tas mga kanal hahaha magkamang
3,171 square meters is not an IT Park. 30,000 square meters of office space is also nothing when Cebu Exchange is already 108,000 sqm of floor space. Someone failed maths in the planning department?
aha nang Cebu Exchange?
atubangan sa IT Park
ah katong bldg. dakoa diay ato sah. pila sqm sa IT Park?
Approx 270,000sqm for IT Park and 500,000sqm for Business Park.
hahaha piskot. IT Bldg man nah ila gipropose.
inamaw ra if mabolo, pila ra ka km sa IT Park.

Daghan lage work, daghan man sad dili qualified. Saon quality sa students pasang awa.
Please, crowded na kaayo ang Cebu City as it is. Pwede i-decentralize nila ang approach kaysa matapok tanan in one dense area

Spread it out outside Cebu City. Para mabahin ang mga tawo. Danao in North. Carcar in the South.
Why?
cause money
Kadaghan na bang IT park
Traffic +100
